Every outside table has a view of the amazing water. The food is top-notch. My favorite was the street corn, which I forgot to take a pitcher of. It was that good. I love the breakfast and the dinner at the place. They also have the best Margheritas. The staff that work here are so awesome.

I've visited El Vez locations in Philly (OG!) and NYC (southern Manhattan, not far from battery park) but this was my first visit in Fort Lauderdale. We recalled just how good the frozen blood Orange margarita is. This certainly did not disappoint. We ordered a second round, against our better judgement. "Beware of the brain freeze," our waitress said. What I somehow forgot is *just* *how* *good* the food is. Simple and delicious, with some special details that make the experience truly El Vez. Our bus boy suggested it's all the women working in the kitchen, infusing their magic and passion for food into the meal. The quesadilla had a crispy layer of cheese on the outside. As a cheese addict, I couldn't resist having another bite. The mole sauce that came for dipping was also off the charts. Runny and sweet, not thick and chalky as a lesser mole might be. At El Vez, say yes to ceviche and fresh fish. Tuna tostada came loaded with fish, two sh-medium tostada per order. Our favorite, hands down, was the shrimp tacos. That beer batter is DYNAMITE. Right balance of tortilla to cabbage to sauce to protein. Crunchy and sumptuous. If we weren't completely stuffed at the end of our meal (too many chips of course) then we would have ordered a second plate of these. If you're into any type of fish taco, these are a must-order!! We lucked out and dined right along the boulevard overlooking the ocean. A family of grackles entertained us throughout the meal. (Maybe not great if you are someone who fears birds). If I were to offer any criticism of El Vez: our server was aggressive with upselling. Pas necessito. We came here to feast! This location will be added to our South Florida traditions. Can't wait to come back in the Fall!

Google
The kindest service in FLD! The Kale Caesar salad with chicken and Huevos Rancheros with Brisket were great for brunch and I had to come back again to try a burrito (also very good)! I think it’s a bit overpriced for basic Mexican fare but it’s par for the course in this area.

Google
We stopped here on our first night in. Great place, atmosphere, food, and drinks. The bar staff is very friendly and helpful. We had a dish for two (tacos al cabon) with skirt steak, veggies, wraps, and sauces...DELICIOUS! Well cooked, presentable and good! Their margaritas are spot on!

Google
Food was average. Didn’t have the best service. Cost was high for what we got. Not horrible but wouldn’t go out of our way to eat here. Got the steak tacos (very good but not filling) and the nachos (average).

Google
My friend and I ate here yesterday for a quick bite. We both had tacos, I had steak and she had the carnita ones. My friend has been sick since eating these tacos, stay away from here. We are only here for a few days and she’s been very sick. We are very upset

Google
This was one of the best quesadillas i've ever had. I got the chicken one and it was cooked and seasoned so perfectly! The salsa was delicious too. The got the muchos nachos with chorizo and they were really good too. A little pricy but its right on the main strip so its expected.

Google
Good food, good service, good atmosphere. The menu was a bit confusing for two reasons. First, I found out from my waiter that the two egg breakfast came with toast but it did not say this on the menu. A positive surprise but still confusing that it was not on the menu. Second, the breakfast potatoes are advertised as crispy but they were large chunks of soft pan fried soft potatoes. I cut them into smaller pieces and the waiter had the kitchen put them in the frier to make them crispy but an odd process to go through for the food to match the menu description.

Yelp
Another delicious and special meal at El Vez. The complementary valet parking makes coming to El Vez easy. Steven Starrs Mexican is housed in the W hotel with his steakhouse. Love the ambience of sitting along the beach, watching the cruise ships head out of port. It was 68° and the heat lamps kept us toasty once the sun went down. Service was impeccable and our meal as always was delicious. We started with the Tito Santana, guacamole and frozen blood orange margaritas. We shared the table side skirt steak dinner that was cooked to perfection. Portions were so generous we brought another meal home. Prices are reasonable and quality is excellent.

Ernie C.

Yelp
Our extended family of 7 came to El Vez for an early dinner after a day of travel to FLL. It could not have been more perfect. The service was attentive and friendly. The food was top rate. The vibe of the restaurant is super fun too. Highly recommend the guacamole, tortilla soup, and chicken enchiladas. The tortilla soup was HUGE - almost too big for a starter. It could be a meal in itself. They also have kids options .

Lori W.

Yelp
We are huge Stephen Starr fans. This location is consistently wonderful. Incredible view. Sit outside for beach view. Delicious margaritas. Thanksgiving Day - day drinking before our big dinner. Homemade salsas - yum. Queso worth ordering. Excellent bartenders too.

Elizabeth P.

Yelp
First time visiting El Vez. It was just ok...menu somewhat basic. Guacamole was ok, needed a kick. Chips were out of a bag. Enchiladas suizas, ok but small portion no side. Check was given to us without asking if we wanted dessert...big mistake since i look forward to it...so we had dessert somewhere else. Would we go back...probably not.

Sol G.

Yelp
Drinks are well balanced and strong-- I would say the drinks are the highlight for this establishment. Food was okay-- the carnitas tacos were succulent-- they are a little on the salty side but still tasty. The grilled fish tacos were also good. The mahi tacos were okay. The churros were good. Service was also good.

Jeff S.

Yelp
Excellent service! The food is outstanding. I would recommend the tres leches for dessert. You can't beat eating an early dinner overlooking the ocean. We will be back.

Krystal T.

Yelp
This restaurant was downstairs of our room. We came for lunch and enjoyed it so much we came back for dinner. We had the hamachi, guacamole, steak tacos, quesadillas.. it was all delicious. The service was great as well and super prompt. At night we sat at the bar and had Craig and Will serve us, they were super nice and friendly. Always made sure our drinks were filled and always came to check on us when we ate. Next time we're in town I'd definitely come back!

Christina F.

Yelp
Located at the W on Fort Lauderdale Beach, this is a good choice if you are staying in the hotel or in the area. If you are not staying at the hotel, they will validate your parking for $10. They have a fairly small menu, but it has options for everyone. It was pretty slow for a busy weekend, and it took a little while for us to get a table because we were a party of seven. The air conditioning wasn't working so it wasn't the most enjoyable experience but we were all hungry so we stayed. The decor in the restaurant makes you feel like you're in the Tulum area, and it definitely gives a good feel for a Mexican restaurant. We started off with some chips and salsa, and the chips were delicious, but the salsa was not my style. I went with the shrimp enchiladas for my main course, which were different than any enchiladas I've had before, but they were tasty. We ended the evening with Churros for the birthday boy and the table and I think that was the best part of the meal! The service was very good. Our cups were never empty, and we were checked on plenty of times. Overall, the atmosphere was very welcoming, and it's a fun spot to go to if you're staying at the hotel. The food is good, although you're paying tourist prices but that's to be expected in the area.

Joy L.

Yelp
The El Vez Fort Lauderdale is one our favorite Mexican restaurants. Half of the bar is outside, but due to a windy day we sat inside. The bartender was very attentive, and the blood orange margaritas were delicious. One of our favorite appetizers is the Nacho Mama that more like a pizza than nachos.

Kristen S.

Yelp
Stopped here while walking along the beach. This restaurant is located in the W but has roadside w access. Great outdoor seating that was partially covered with fans. Bartenders were friendly and attentive. It was a mid week afternoon, so the crowd was light but picked up as dinner approached. I only had the chips and salsa, but the salsa was on point. I watched several other meals come out, and they all smelled delicious. Would definitely come again (and next time hungry)!

Yelp
Who would have known that this would be on the menu I was hesitant at first but after studying multiple Pictures I was glad I choose this pizza it taste like a crispy nacho flatbread pizza with all the crunch and cheesy goodness it was so fresh and not heavy you got the durability of a pizza with the crunch of a nacho it was perfect !

Kelly C.

Yelp
The Chicken Nachos were delicious! So flavorful. It was too windy to enjoy the outside, but it looked pretty. Maybe next time!

Viktoriya M.

Yelp
Stayed at W and had breakfast here a few times cuz the hotel gives you credit for it. Decent food and service. Egg white omelette was light and fluffy.

Mackenzie H.

Yelp
Loved the patio seating! You can look right at the ocean while getting a bite to eat. Chips and salsa came with 3 salsa options- they were okay. I was happy to see and eat the vegan kale Caesar! Was so thankful to find a veggie forward vegan option with the unique mushroom bits.

Michelle M.

Yelp
Food was just okay, chips and salsa should be complimentary. Had to pay extra for cheese or they didn't have cheese on the tacos.

Jackie S.

Yelp
I went back for my tuna ceviche and our server was Jevon again. Great service twice. Also I found out they validate parking for $10 at the restaurant.

Jocelyn L.

Yelp
Came here a few times to enjoy happy hour while we were in Florida. Great outside bar and Craig was the best bartender! My girlfriend ordered a frozen cocktail which she loved. Great happy hour food options too!

Maream S.

Yelp
Great service and delicious food in a perfect location overlooking the ocean. Would visit here again if we are in the area or staying at the W hotel. Highly recommend.

Maddy B.

Yelp
We met friends here for lunch before they went into Tortuga music festival, and they accommodated a party of 10. We were able to sit outside in the sun and had amazing service and food. I ordered the chicken tacos and my partner got the steak. Quesadilla both were delicious. The blood orange margarita picture was tasty and everything came out on time and quickly. We had a view of the ocean and beach from our table which was fantastic. I would definitely try more things on the menu if I'm in Fort Lauderdale again.

Candice H.

Yelp
Having gone to the Philly location many times over the course of years that I lived there, I think I came on a bad day. This location is located in the W hotel. They do have a HH here so I would go for the $6 marg and have some delicious chips and salsa. I advised the server I had about 30 minutes to eat and then head to the airport. I was hoping for my chips and guac after I got my marg...15 min later, I got my queso fundido with mushroom. I asked if the guac was coming, as it should have been the very first dish out. 10 min later, guac was still not there. Instead, my to-go order for the road, rice and street corn were bagged and placed on my table. I followed up for the guac again. I almost said to skip it because I would not have time to eat much of it, so I decided to take what I could with me (2 sauce cups full). They could have considered at least serving me some chips and salsa while I waited. Food: Fundido- it used to be truffle infused at the original Philly location so this was bland. Just cheese over mushroom. Some sauce on the bottom you couldn't taste. Tortilla was good and soft. Chips- superb Guac- bland, but I didn't even have enough time to ask for salt to put on it. Street corn- great, get it off the cob if you want Rice- average Marg- always a must I was disappointed that I still got charged for the $16 smaller portion of guac 25 minutes after I ordered, and after all of my other food was served. It really should be the first dish served IMO. I sat closest to the water which was nice but not comfortable if it was very sunny and hot. My server was nice, but the lack of food for ordering a few simple items was disappointing since I could not wait to be back at an El vez. Go, def go. Just hope they don't forget the food! Note: I eat at STARR restaurants all of the time, so this is not a typical experience, at least I hope.

Bryee P.

Yelp
First time here with some family, and we all enjoyed our food! Margaritas were nice and strong! The beans are so flavorful that's what made the nachos good Guac and Tacos were also great! Very happy with my first experience here :)

Luis C.

Yelp
Great location at the beach, friendly staff and good tacos. Stunning views of the ocean and wonderful atmosphere. I ordered the steak tacos and they were extremely well made. The steak was juicy and perfectly cooked to order. Word to the wise on the house hot sauce. It looks like regular Tabasco sauce but don't let that fool you - it packs a punch! Definitely adding this place to my list of places to visit again!

Catt S.

Yelp
Review Pulled from Open Table- Dined on 6/10/23: The view of ocean was nice and relaxing. My dad and I enjoyed the chips and salsa and guacamole to start our lunch. We requested some jalapeños as it wasn't that spicy the Guacamole (for a $1.50 a bit pricey if you ask me as it was such a small side) so highly suggest doing that if you don't like mild gaucamole. My dad got the tortilla soup as his entree and I the chicken tacos and a side of rice. The rice was far to dry to consume without water or some sauce to balance it out. We both found the environment, view great and food was just above ok. Unsure if there's a dinner and lunch menu but I found the menu a bit small and not a lot of options compared the cocktail menu provided. However, even if the food wasn't what we expected the service was amazing, our waiter was extremely attentive filling our water glass and checking in on us to ensure we didn't need anything. The hostess was so friendly and helpful she even took my dad and ours picture with the ocean behind us!

Claire S.

Yelp
El Vez was packed on a Friday night, like most places in the season. We were lucky enough to snag bar seats while we waited about 30 minutes for a table. Bar service was prompt and polite. I ordered a spicy skinny margarita that was made well. We also ordered chips and guacamole; the chips were average, but the guacamole was pretty good. However, I noticed on the bill that the guacamole was $17, which is pretty outrageous. The Hamachi ceviche was excellent, and I'd highly recommend trying that dish. Unfortunately, the photo of the Hamachi won't upload to Yelp, but take my word for it and give it a try.

Nancy S.

Yelp
The shrimp tacos are good but the service is not great...6 workers walked by and looked at us but not one brought water or greeted us. I was confused why we were being ignored for so long when none of them were busy doing anything. Finally a different server came and took care of us but he was just as uninterested in his job as everyone else.

Kristie D.

Yelp
We visited El Vez 3x during our stay at The W and the customer service was consistently friendly and attentive each time and the food was delicious. We enjoyed a Beachside Breakfast on the last morning of our vacation. Sam ordered "the best steak & eggs of his life"! His reasoning: beautiful presentation, over-medium eggs were cooked to perfection & served over savory grilled vegetables and crispy potatoes. I ordered yogurt parfait with a side of maple syrup and it was very filling, super fresh and tasty. Coffee connoisseurs: the daily brew was medium roast/bold flavor - (not watered down). Dinner: We had dinner our second night here and shared chips & guacamole, the Chopped Salad, and Steak Tacos. The ambiance is fun and flirty, beautifully decorated interior walls. The delicious steak was succulent and juicy and salad was fresh and crunchy. The portions are decent-size and the ingredients are fresh. Takeout: We also ordered takeout and the food was still tasty and warm. :D

Tori B.

Yelp
Went here for dinner last night. The drinks were good. Mixed well, decent presentation. Had the guacamole for an appetizer. It tasted like Chipotle's (not a bad thing just wasn't expecting that). I had the mahi mahi tacos for dinner. I was a little confused when 2 little rolled up burritos were served to me; but they tasted fine enough. I personally wouldn't order it again. It was a lot of tortilla and a small little chicken strip shaped fish stick in them. Someone at my table ordered the steak tacos and they came out like expected street tacos size. We ordered some sides as well! The corn was very good, as was the watermelon salad. My friend really liked the plantains side, I just thought they were okay. As for service, our waitress was very nice. There were some points where service was a little slow but otherwise, no issues. Besides the fish stick in a rolled up tortilla situation, I'd say the music is just a touch too loud, but the music will be loud anywhere we go in the area so that's just par for the course I guess! I would return here, but I would not order the fish tacos again!

Aysia M.

Yelp
After Lona didn't have any outside seating we walked over to El Vez as a backup and we're glad we did. Great service, Maria was awesome. She gave us suggestions she kept us happy as we laughed and shared jokes. We ordered 4 Tacos Al Carbon for 6 people and it was more than enough food and it was tasty. We enjoyed the ambiance the lighting was a bit dark if you wanted to see what you were eating but overall great night.

Shelby G.

Yelp
5/5 I ordered the "tacos Al carbon" which is meant to share for two, which it did easily . I also ordered the chips and salsas, and our server did an amazing job at refilling our chips when he noticed we were running low. Great place to go for drinks and a lovely ambiance.

Mike U.

Yelp
In the W Hotel in Ft Lauderdale. Validated valet parking is $10 and the food and service is always excellent! On a nice day you not only see the ocean which is across the street but get a nice breeze from the ocean if you're dining outside. It is an upscale Mexican restaurant but it is worth it. On weekdays they have a Happy Hour between 4-6. Best to try to make Happy Hour where the prices are more reasonable. We particularly like the Tito Santana guacamole with mango, red pepper and other assorted spices.

Jennifer M.

Yelp
We've been here I think 5x in the last 2 or 3 weeks. We've brought two different couples here who had never been. Both LOVED it! We always get the el carbon (tacos for 2) & convinced both our friends to get them also. I absolutely LOVE the corn shells here that they make in house! The chicken that they serve is really good quality and always delicious! We've had the steak also but sometimes it's a little over cooked or fatty so we just stick to the chicken. The ambiance here is amazing during the day if you're sitting outside and it's not too hot. I've found the ambiance to be rather lacking in the evenings though. For the prices of drinks there should be a bit more... maybe music or something I'm not sure... the drinks are over priced here and never strong so we always drink at Rocco's before we come here. We've been very lucky with our server Johan who has taken exceptional care of us! On our last trip here unfortunately Johan wasn't working. Our server was definitely not as on top of it as Johan, our drinks were always empty and on this occasion we actually ordered 2 cocktails. We will continue to come here for dinner for the el carbon! Just wish they'd have happy hour so we could enjoy cocktails here before also. The el chupacabra cocktail is ahmaazzzinggg!!!

Jess R.

Yelp
Oh man. This place is delicious! We stayed at the hotel W for a few days and we loved that it's located inside. We sat outside because it felt nice outside even though it was windy. We came for happy hours and throughly enjoyed ourself. We had everything on the happy hour menu and it didn't disappoint. When I tell you the street corn was so good, we had 2 and took one up to our room. The half mama nachos were delicious. You can taste the melted queso mixto, black beans, sa ranchera, sour cream. It's right across the beach so after eating you can take a walk along the sand. The carnitas dogs were so savory that we ended up fighting over them. Living in south Florida and being able to eat on the or close to the beach is one of my favorite perks. We will definitely be here. You don't have to stay at the restaurant to eat here. I'll be dreaming about the street corn until I return.

Sheel S.

Yelp
El Vez was a great lunch place! The vibes were so nice since we had asked to sit outside overlooking the ocean. This is what we ordered: 1. Verde guacamole which was 4/5. It had a really nice coriander touch to it with a hint of mint towards the middle of the bowl. 2. Nacho Mama which was 4.1/5 because like I've read previously, these nachos have ingredients spread equally on it. It makes the dish so much more enjoyable. Don't forget to order their spicy sauce on the side!! It adds a lot of heat but is flavorful when added onto the nachos. 3. Queso fundido was a 2.8/5. There were a little too many mushrooms in there and you couldn't appreciate the taste of the actual queso itself. Unfortunately I wouldn't get this again. 4. Chopped salad was a 2.9/5. There was a little too much dressing and overall not too impressive. 5. CHURROS. 4.8/5. WOW WOW WOW. So good! The softness on the inside but perfect crisp on the outside complimented the chocolate syrup fantastically. One of the best churros I've had. Service was 2.5/5. We had to wait a very long time in to order something because it was nearly impossible to track our waitress down. We also didn't have any napkins or silverware placed on our table so had to wait for a while before we could ask to get something to wipe our hands with. If service weren't disappointing then I would've given this 4/5. Regardless please do try this place out!

Jessica V.

Yelp
The location is ideal, right across the beach. We had dinner there and the menu options weren't many. The food was average for the price we paid. The waiter was inattentive. I ordered a soup and it never came. I decided not to mention it again since the food I had already ate was bland. I didn't want to pay for another plate that may also be savorless. Without a doubt this restaurant is one I will not return to.

Leo G.

Yelp
The place is great! Love the food and the drinks. I have been here a couple times and can't wait to come back again, great place to take a date, I love the ambience and the food is amazing.

Andy L.

Yelp
Excellent Steven Starr restaurant in Ft. Lauderdale Beach in the W Hotel. Drinks and food were elevated Mexican. Restaurant is a bit warm. Service was inconsistent with multiple people running around and miscommunication back and forth for simple requests.

Garrett G.

Yelp
Nice server but horrible service 1.5 hours only got a drink and chip order in No refill- no food ordered closed out because I was already turned off for waiting so long for an overpriced drink - definitely would not recommend this place Nice ocean view but all others placer have that too

Joe D.

Yelp
The happy hour specials here are ridiculously affordable! $6 margaritas and appetizers that are delicious. We had the chicken tacos, carnitas tacos and the naco mama. The chicken and pork bellies were perfectly cooked and had a tinge of spice with the salsa. The "nachos mama" really stole the show for us. Unbelievable that this is a "half" portion of-- the queso mixed with black beans, salsa and pickled red onions was like a burst of flavors in your mouth -- and the jalapenos give a little kick. Hard to believe that this was only $6. And the best part of the experience was the beautiful patio overlooking the beach. My wife and I hung out here for three hours, just people watching and drinking their yummy frozen margaritas. And our server was always attentive and very friendly. By far the best bang for your buck during happy hour on the boulevard.

Mexican restaurant in the W Fort Lauderdale! We went for happy hour and they had delicious nachos and tacos from 6$-8$. The cocktails were mid 3/10. The Prosecco was way better. They also had good service and the outdoor seating was amazing! With oceanview! Must try.

Yelp
Five stars for location and food. Located in the W Fort Lauderdale, we stayed here during our stay at the hotel. Wow amazing views of the beach. Perfect for a lunch out!!! Really gourmet Mexican food. If you stay in the hotel and are elite status, you get a 25 credit to the restaurant. We came here for brunch and sat outside. The food was delicious however a bit expensive for what you were getting. Don't remember the name of the dish but it was very good. The coffee though - was very small and not very good. Priced at 6 bucks a latte, I would have rather get a Starbucks across the street. The reason for the three stars though was the service. Our waitress was not very nice nor was she attentive. I think bc we were younger she assumed the tip would not be good because she ignored our table and was all over another table with four older guests. I probably will not return but it was a nice day out and again views are amazing. I recommend this place if you are looking for a margarita with a nice view.

Yelp
I don't trust Mexican restaurants that don't have Queso or that don't offer complimentary chips and salsa. With that being said, I feel like I wasted my money and should've ordered Uber Eats. I stayed in the W and the sweet young lady, that checked me in, suggested this place. Ordered guacamole- Bland and disappointing. Shrimp Tacos- they were okay. The staff and the view is nice, but skip this place.

Yelp
Coming off a wonderful cruise to the Caribbean and settling in at the W for one more night in beautiful Fort Lauderdale prior to leaving home. I came upon this gem of a restaurant. In my opinion this was a place that we (family) needed to end a great vacation. Location: Perfectly nestled on the corner of FL Beach Blvd, a corner view of the sand and water. Ambiance: warm, fun and energetic. Perfect to meet up with friends, a date, possible great to meet someone, and even family. Service: from the moment we arrived, we were greeted with a smile which was welcoming. Our server Johnathan was attentive and helpful on offering a great selection of food. Food: yum! It was soooo good we literally cleaned out everything that was delivered. The Tacos El Carbon was so delicious! Couldn't stop eating it. Guacamole, tasty and flavorful. Overall: a place ill be saving and recommending for others when in the area.

Yelp
We loved this place. Beautiful restaurant inside and the food and service was great. I am vegan and had the chopped salad with rice and beans and Mexican corn. My husband had the chopped salad and chicken as he wanted something light. Highly recommend the brownie sundae with spice peanut brittle!

Yelp
Delicious food! Loved the fresh shrimp taco and the carnitas. The elite corn was fantastic.

Yelp
It has been a little while since I ate here. I do know the food was excellent. They offer three types of salsa to go with your chips. No, they are not included with your dinner but they are well worth the cost. The guacamole was not my favorite. It was too bland. I had the chicken fajitas and these were some of the best I ever ate. The chicken was very juicy and full of flavor. There was lots of quality ingredients to go in the fajita. The peppers and sour cream were top quality. They served a sort of fried cocktail cheese. I never tried this before and it was really tasty. Our server told us they have a fantastic happy hour. I need to come back for that. El Vez is facing the ocean so if you sit outside you have a beautiful view. Our view was very nice too with all the decorative pictures around. You should not be in a rush when you eat here because the food took quite a bit to come out. We were in no rush. Just enjoyed being at this nice restaurant.
