Opened in 2025 by chef Tom Gray in the historic San Marco Theatre, this newcomer fuses Roman‑style dough with Detroit‑inspired edges for crispy, cheesy rectangles. Covered by local news and business media, it’s already a buzzed‑about slice of San Marco.

We arrived on a Friday night almost at closing time. They took our order and it didn't take long for us to get our pizza. The sodas at the soda fountain are different from the regular ones. I really liked them, and the pizza is good but nothing spectacular. As for taste, there are no fixed rules. My wife was delighted with the place. To me, it seems pretentious, something that tries to be but doesn't quite live up to it. Perhaps something more classic would have fit better with the aura of the place. That said, the service is good and it's worth the money, since they made us another pizza even though the kitchen had already closed, which is always appreciated.

Great venue. Spacious and inviting. Pizza was decent. We had build your own (pepperoni, jalapeño). Tasty. Large was enough for 4. Soft drinks are TRACTOR…tasty. On expensive side but there is a lot to be said for the location.

Kind of a shame this place didn’t live up to the hype. I live right down the street and wish I could say I’d go back. Cool building, clean and exciting venue but the food was just okay and way overpriced. Pictured below is our $15 micro cocktail, $2.15 ranch for ants, and our $28 pizza with a whopping crumb of sausage on each slice. Happy to pay a premium but the food was just nowhere near worth it.

I've been here for lunch and dinner a few times and absolutely love it. High quality ingredients. Everything tastes fresh. The dough is like nothing I've had elsewhere. Our favorites are Detroit Baller and AMP Cheese. It's a fun atmosphere and the staff is friendly. We will be back!

If you fancy an eclectic ambiance with good natured scenery - then topped with delicious pies... Hit "Directions" and go in your vehicle with your best pal and come on down! This used to be the old San Marco theater and the vibes are telling of that. Beautiful people with even more attractive food really Sallies up the place! I enjoyed their "Momma-Mia" pizza. I'm a health nut and this was the acorn of my eye. Plenty of seating and aroma is everywhere you turn. The bar in the back was stocked and the employee were all super polite and helpful. So going back this week. Hope to see you there.

Finally got to Electric Dough after hearing mixed reviews since opening, and unfortunately it was not a great experience. It was Wednesday night around 6 and we walked right up to the counter to order for our party of 7, but after ordering, there was no seating. We stood around waiting for a table to open up and was informed nicely after about 15 minutes of standing that our order would be ready shortly and suggested finding seating outside. Unfortunately it had just finished raining so everything was very wet. I was told that someone was going to wipe the table down. The table was wiped down but only the top so the sides were very wet and all the chairs were soaked. There were several other people in our situation and I observed one guest ask if the chairs could be dried off and he was handed a rag which he then graciously shared with me. Meanwhile our pizzas were here except one. I went about 5 minutes later to check on the missing cheese pizza that I ordered for my youngest and requested only mozzarella instead of the “fancy” cheese and it came as shown in the picture I posted. I went to ask about it just curious if this was a normal about of cheese and the very nice kitchen worker seemed a little confused but said they would add more cheese, which they did however it was just a few more plops of mozzarella. We got a few different kinds of pizza including one GF crust and everything except the disappointing cheese pizza was fine but not what I was hoping for after a strange start to the evening. I think in order to survive, there needs to be a process for finding seats before ordering. The interior is awesome but not awesome if you’ve ordered with no seating available. The staff was friendly and were working hard but just isn’t a great system.

Five of us went here for dinner one night. Pizza was delicious. We ordered 3, Buffalo Zing, Six cheese and Detroit Baller. The dough was soft but crunchy on the sides, the toppings were perfectly spaced on top and the pizzas looked like art. All 3 were delicious!! It was enough food to feed all of us. The fountain drinks were amazing, from the Tractor Beverage Co. organic fountain sodas! Cannot go wrong with any flavor! The restaurant is in an old movie theatre which was pretty cool. Atmosphere was chill. Perfect for anytime eating!!!

Decided to try out a new pizza joint today. We went with The Mighty Quinn and The Godfather. Both Detroit-style so expect that nice crispy edge. The pizzas were pretty good overall! Only thing is, their "large" felt more like in between a small/medium compared to something like Jet's who also offer Detroit style corner pizzas. That said, the laid-back vibe and super friendly service definitely made the visit worthwhile.

Yelp
It was good pizza, the flavor was good! The ambiance was really nice and eclectic. Would def go back again and service was really great as well.

Yelp
Meowza! What a tasty treat!!! I can't get over the texture of this pizza!! It's so light and fluffy but also has a crunchy crust!! During my first visit, the staff was helpful with explaining the menu and pointing out their offerings. The vibe is relaxed and can be a quick bite before going out for the night or a great way to lounge and close out the evening. I love how they kept some of the charm of the old movie theatre and provide a space that can be used in many ways along with an intimate bar area and delicious food.

Yelp
Parking in San Marco is always a challenge, but we made the trip just for pizza at Electric Dough, and it didn't disappoint. The space is stylish, with a bar, a movie screen, and a semi-private area for a more relaxed vibe. We tried The Mighty Quinn, a meatless pizza with mushrooms, truffle aioli, arugula, and cacio e pepe sauce. Surprisingly flavorful and satisfying. The Godfather II was a hearty, meat-loaded option with pepperoni, salami, and sausage, also delicious. Their crust is thick and crispy, just how I like it. A bit pricey for the portion size, but overall, still worth recommending.

Yelp
We sat at the bar so we could enjoy a cocktail before ordering. The bartender served us fairly quickly. Right after we placed a food order a family with a baby sat right next to t to us at the bar. I didn't think children were allowed at the bar?? We ordered the Ricotta trio with toast points. The ricotta was delicious but the "toast points" were really only pieces of bread warmed up. I did enjoy the pizza - pickled onions, artichoke pieces, arugula, banana peppers. I know they're fairly new so I'll wait a few months before we go back again to give it another try.

Yelp
This place is adorable ! I love the design that they went with! They have indoor and outdoor seating. Low tops and high tops! You order when you walk in then sit wherever you want! Lots of Detroit style pizzas to choose from ! You can even add on to one if you get a speciality ! The prices seemed very fair to me! A large was great for 2 young women to split and we had 3 slices left over ! The pizza was light and fluffy but still crispy! They were able to split the salad for the 2 of us and bring on separate plates! We missed happy hour by 2 minutes but it looked like they had great deals for happy hour as well! They came and checked on us many times and cleared our plates while we were eating, the service was really great! I can't wait to go back

Yelp
What a cool spot that took over the old theatre! I like how they kept some of that theatre charm. The pizza was yummy! We got the God father one and it was super flavorful. The ceaser salad was yummy too. Cute vibes.
google avatar

Katie P.

Yelp
What a fun place! I love how big the space was and how they transformed the old theater into a really fun hangout for families and groups! The style of the restaurant was trendy but also casual! Having quick service and not a huge menu was such a plus and super easy to make decisions! The pimento cheese was fire and the spicy pepper jelly was awesome on top! Loved the toasted bread points with it too! The pizzas were delicious! I love Detroit square cut style and these did not disappoint! And I loved the design of the location and just how funky fun it was! The conversations cards were such a great touch too! We had our 2 little ones with us so we brought Uno to play but those cards would have been perfect if we needed some entertainment!

Yelp
Solid new pizza place at the old San Marcos Theater. The esthetics are on point and it has a dedicated bar area ideal for happy hour; also lots of seating options indoor and outdoor. The service was very friendly and they had plenty of staff to help around. As for the pizza expect a Chicago style with lots of interesting flavor combinations you wouldn't find somewhere else. A large pizza can easily feed 3 people.

Yelp
We visited Electric Dough on opening day just after the lunch hour. There was a steady stream of customers but it wasn't overly packed while we were there. The menu has a few appetizers, notably all with cheese; salads; signature pizzas; a build-your-own pizza section; and a kids menu with three options. They also have a gelato case with dairy and non-dairy (sorbet) options, and a soon-to-be option to pick up food to heat at home. We tried the Detroit Baller pizza and a kids pepperoni plate. The pizza is all Detroit-style, with cheese and toppings over the entirety of the pizza to the edge and it's made to order. They looked well done and they were both very good. The focaccia like crust was soft and pillowy with a great little crunch. The Detroit Baller one had perhaps one too many sauces - calabrian chili aioli, cacio y pepe sauce, and Ed's red sauce drizzle. The meatballs were really the only solid topping and they were scarce. The pepperoni pizza ate a little dry and perhaps could've benefited from a little more sauce. The location is easy to find with an industrial type bar vibe inside with TVs and a message projected on the wall. The Tractor sodas were very sweet but some of the flavors were interesting such as coconut or lemongrass. I enjoyed the teas, lemonades, and other flavored drinks better. I sampled the strawberry pitaya tractor slushee, which didn't have much sweetness to it. This will likely be a popular place and I'm glad we were able to try it early. If parking weren't such an issue in the area, I'm sure we'd plan to stop by several more times to try some of their other menu items.

Yelp
Visited this newly opened pizza (and more) shop in the old San Marco Theatre. It was fun to try to remember where everything was when you walked in. The remodel is beautiful. It's spacious for plenty of people and really nicely put together. Tried the cacio e pepe and the Godfather pizzas. The cacio e pepe was very mild in flavor but great if you love cheese. Not much of a pepper flavor though. The Godfather was much more flavorful. Really nice dough on both. Crispy edges, moist inside. Parking here can be fairly difficult if you go at any popular hour, but that is just how San Marco is. But I say it's worth the effort.

Yelp
Today deserves 20 stars! This was the BEST pizza I have ever had! First, the crust was baked to perfection - soft in the middle crunch on the sides. The white sauce used was OUTSTANDING & truly service with a smile. The team is doing great! The remodel was tastefully done and u can almost picture where the big screen was located (& the projector in the lobby). The inside decor is warm and inviting. I will be returning as this is officially my new favorite San Marco restaurant and favorite pizza of all time!!!!

Yelp
What used to be a movie theater is now a fantastic pizza place! The interior is super cute and very clean. Service was quick, and the staff were friendly and helpful. You place your order at the counter when you walk in, and they bring the food right to your table. There's also a bar on-site. The pizza was delicious, fresh, flavorful, and definitely worth a visit! We will be back!

Yelp
Soooo yummy! First, love the build out, nice and new inside, open with out feeling cavernous, especially because this used to be a movie theater. Order at the counter then they bring you your food, we got 2 pizzas to try and a drink from their fancy soda fountain with wonderful flavors to try...lemongrass!! Lots of juices to try also. Now to the pizza it's delicious! I don't know how anyone could not like this, it is like a focaccia bread with cheese and toppings on it, so light and bouncy and crunchy on the edges. Love it! If you have tried Pratti pizza at the town center this is the same ( same Chef owner) I will say if your expecting papa Johns style pizza this is not it. And prices run a bit more, think about $25 per pizza, but getting better quality food. Ended the meal with gelato, tried the pistachio and it was amazing! Very creamy with great flavor, I would almost say better then the gelato I had just eaten in Italy a month ago! Can't wait to return!

Yelp
Detroit style pizza. Just OK. The pizza dough is sourdough so it's a little airy and squishy. Ordered the Some like it Hot and I didn't even taste the sausage. It was overpowered by the kale on top. The goat cheese and sauce were good though. Had a glass of Cabernet, which I think was overpriced for a pizza place. Service was pretty good. Their seating was full but they clean up after people leave fairly quickly.

Yelp
Can't say enough great things about this place. The service, the food, the vibes.. it's all top notch. The meatballs are some of the best meatballs I've ever eaten and the Cobb salad is my absolute favorite. So fresh and the ranch they put on is homemade. Just tasty! Don't miss out on this fun and delicious place.

Yelp
Date night with my hubs the other day at Electric Dough. First time here, and was very curious of what the inside would look like as I loved it as the original theatre. Set up was cute and open. The lighting gave a chill ambiance. Didn't catch our bartenders name, but the drinks were spot on! Pretty tasty old fashion! The pizza...was meh. Reminded me of Red Baron's oven pizzas. I would definitely come back for more drinks!

Yelp
We were very excited to try this new pizza spot, but were left underwhelmed. Ambiance: The decor and theme inside was very well done. I loved the little nods to the old San Marco Theater, including the old theater lights and the movie playing on the wall. It was very well done. There's plenty of table and booth seating inside and out. Bar: The bar menu was nicely done. I asked for a Bee's Knees which was off menu, and the bartender happily made it for me. The drink was very good. Food: This is where disappointment begins. For a family of 4, I paid $67 for a meal. This included a meatball app, medium pizza which my boyfriend and I shared, a chicken Caesar salad for my daughter, and a kids pepperoni pizza for my son. The kids pizza was all dough, barely any sauce and 4 pepperoni. There was so much dough, he didn't finish it. The Caesar dressing lacked flavor, but the chicken and croutons were good. The meatball apps was the best thing we ate, but for $14 and 7 tiny meatballs, it didn't seem worth the value. Our medium pizza with 6 slices was definitely not enough to fill us up. For almost $70 we all left still hungry. Overall: I love the space and the bar. I don't think we will ever go back though, the value for the portion size was not worth it. For almost $70 (which did not include my cocktail I paid for separately) I want to be able to feed my family.

Yelp
Ordered lunch for the office from Electric Dough and was not disappointed. The online ordering was a breeze, they have some kinks to work through but all in all, it's pretty straightforward. The restaurant has a clean sleek modern vibe for all ages. The gelato bar is perfectly placed, you see it and instantly want dessert first! Or at least I did!! The menu is stacked with options from vegan to gluten free. Be forewarned that a large pizza is literally 8 pieces. I love focaccia pizzas and the variety electric dough offers was really good. The Duuuval and Classic Caprese are my top 2, followed by the Godfather and AMP. The bbq chicken with the pickled onions and datil pepper sauce- Omgosh the bbq with the sweet heat it's a must try! The Classic Caprese, it's exactly that classic Caprese on the focaccia- the balsamic glaze holds it all perfectly together. The Godfather is the go to for a salami lover! Which is me!! It's a supreme pizza that hits all the buttons. You get the classic salami, coppa, soppressata and sausage with your red sauce. The AMP is your cheese lovers pizza hands down. All in all the staff were really great. They greeted me when I walked in and knew the menu, and offered some great suggestions. I already can't wait to get back there and try some of the other signature pizzas.
google avatar

Yelp
Ok first of all!! The place is so cute!! They kept some of the theater vibes in there with the projector on display at the front and then movies playing on the back wall. The staff were all super nice and helpful in my decision to get the godfather part II, which is the most popular. I got the large pizza because I was going to bring the rest home for leftovers. A large has 10 slices and I barely got through 3. Well barely because I wanted gelato and didn't want to overstuff myself. But the pizza was DELISH. So much flavor and meat and the bread is so light and airy so it doesn't feel super heavy when you're eating it! Really yummy. They also have Parmesan, red chili pepper flakes, and oregano shakers that you can take to your table. I put the red chili pepper flakes on my pizza and it elevated the spice and flavor really well. There is also sparkling water on tap at the drink station (it's the "soda" button on the lemongrass drink). The gelato was good too, and the flavors rotate but not sure if it's every week or what. Just fyi, the gelato cookie sandwich is pre-made (you can't choose a cookie flavor and a gelato flavor), and the brownie is HUGE but super thick. It would be divided easily between 3-4 people. I can't wait to come back and try the other pizzas!

Yelp
So much fun! We had a group of 7 and sat in the bar area. Yes, they have a bar area where you can get table service. It's a small area but that's the section I'll be when visiting when I return. We all ordered a different pizza. I tasted everyone's and liked them all. It's a thick dough, like foccia-ish style (which I like) but not everyone's cup of tea. My friends who had the salads gave 2 -thumbs-up. We got some free meatballs because they were accidentally delivered to our table. They were delicious. I had a Cape cod and others had varied libations and everyone was happy. * The reason I gave 3 stars is because I came back the next day and the quality wasn't the same. Meatballs were cold. Pizza dough wasn't cooked through. This place is new and super popular. I will be back again because I'm sure the longer they stay open the more consistent the food quality will be. Looking forward to it.

Yelp
I was anxious to try this pizza mainly for the crust, but was disappointed with the flavor. The crust was the best part. First, there was barely any sauce (none could be tasted or seen) and the mix of cheeses did not have a good flavor. The Asiago cheese was overpowering and parmesan also doesn't seem to go with the mixture. Some pieces had hardly any sausage. Actually, the sausage didn't taste good either, not like the usual pizza sausage. For $25.80 I expected more topping or at the very least more evenly distributed. They were not busy so the cook should have paid more attention to the topping. It just opened 3 weeks ago. It would have been nice if the cashier had told me about the Happy Hour pizza pricing for a medium pizza at $10. I suggested she do that for others. I'll add my own toppings to my leftovers (and remove their cheese) and won't be going back.

Yelp
Stopped in literally just for vibes and their fountain drinks. They use the tractor company for their drinks and they are delicioussssss, yay!!!
google avatar

Matt C.

Yelp
We loved the atmosphere, the friendliness and helpfulness of the staff. Of course, the pizza was great! Unique for Jax...thick (but not heavy) crust similar to Detroit style. Highly recommend!

Abby P.

Yelp
Hands down, one of the best pizza experiences I've ever had. I stopped in for the first time today and was instantly greeted by the incredible aroma of fresh, wood-fired pizza! The pizza was phenomenal--perfectly crisp crust, balanced flavors, and that unmistakable touch of someone who truly knows their craft. You can taste the care in every bite. Chef even took a moment to stop and say hi, which made the experience that much more special. If you're thinking about trying this spot, don't hesitate. It's the kind of place that makes you want to come back before you've even finished your meal.
google avatar

Hannah J.

Yelp
we went in just for the fountain drink today, and it was amazing! we heard that their fountain drinks are unique, but they exceed our expectations. I loved every fountain drink flavor they had and would 100% recommend. it was great to enjoy our nice sodas on this nice summer day in the outside seating they have!

Lisa C.

Yelp
Wow, this is my favorite place. The pizza is so good that I had get a second one to take home to California. Yes, it's that good. Everything is beyond amazing. Salads, gelato Thank you Chef Tom. I'll be back Don't miss his other restaurants. Town Hall is sleek and friendly. Staff beyond kind and inclusive. Pratti has the best and most creative cocktails. Definitely worth a stop.

Chelsea S.

Yelp
Tried the whipped ricotta trio and three different pizzas. Went on a Friday afternoon so it was a little busy but we got our food quickly. Loved the vibes! Will definitely go again to try some different pies and gelato!
google avatar

Hayley G.

Yelp
We arrived around 5:30 PM on their second day open and were told they were at capacity, but if we came back in 30 minutes, they'd be able to seat us. Ordering is done at the counter, and our food was ready about 15 minutes later. The pizza was outstanding--easily the best I've had in Jacksonville so far. The interior is stylish and thoughtfully designed, creating a great atmosphere. It's a fun spot to visit with friends or for a casual date night. Once they work out the opening-week kinks, I think it'll be a go-to favorite!
google avatar

Kiera M.

Yelp
Probably the cutest pizza shop I have ever eaten in, hands down. I never had a chance to visit when this was the theater but I could just tell they left some of its character in the design. The kitchen is open concept and is a nice touch and I imagine would be fun for kids to see the pizza being made. The pizza was so good, if you are a thin crust or NY style pizza this is not for you. If you love grandma pies and Detroit style pizza ,this is a must try. We tried the godfather part 2, Detroit baller, and the Duval. My favorite was the godfather part 2, I personally enjoyed the lighter portions of meat on it, but if you are a meat lover you may be left disappointed. The Detroit baller was good, I think it would be better if it was battered/fried chicken instead of meatballs, as chicken would be really good with calabrian sauce. The Duval was pretty good an elevated take on the BBQ chicken pizza. They also have a small Gelato station and you have to oder it at the main counter. If you are in the area you should definitely give them a try.
google avatar

Angel C.

Yelp
Overall very good experience. Good food, cool vibes! The old theater is such a great place for this concept.
google avatar

Jorge M.

Yelp
I'm a local San Marco resident and was very sad to see the old theatre go. I went to Electric Dough with an open mind and a fair bit of curiosity. I'm glad I did. The food is excellent - very unique pizzas, good selection of appetizers and salads. The decor and vibe are great! They honor the legacy of the theatre while providing a clean, comfortable environment. Service is sort of a hybrid of fast casual and table service. You order at the counter, take a number to your table, then if you want more, or drinks or dessert, you can order from your table. Food was ready quickly and service was attentive. It's not cheap but it feels like a good value (medium pizza, one salad and an appetizer shared by two was about $50 including tip). I'll be back!
google avatar

Kristin R.

Yelp
This was probably the worst pizza I have EVER HAD. We were super excited to try this place and left completely underwhelmed and hungry! The fact that we spent $63 on a pizza, two drinks and a tip and still left the restaurant hungry is unacceptable. The ambience is amazing. Loved the look of the place being in an old movie theater -- if only the food tasted as good as the place looked. Save your time and money and go somewhere else.
google avatar

Sophie S.

Yelp
The san marco theatre shouldn't have been replaced with this. I was so excited to try this food and it was terrible. The service was excellent and the area and ambiance was lovely, and that's why it's a two star. But the food was horrible. The cheese pizza tasted like vomit, and I had gotten a slushy that was barely drinkable. my father says it was blue cheese and we agreed it was more like 'bleh' cheese. It would have been a five star if the cheese was mozzarella or something, but blue cheese? Don't come here unless you like the taste of vomit.

Jeffrey S.

Yelp
Excellent food, fantastic service! Sat at the bar and we had a great meal! Will be back often!

Christine S.

Yelp
This new pizza place has focaccia style pizza that is cooked in rectangle pans in ovens from Italy that create a soft center & crunchy sides. The portion is nice and can be shared. The salads are very tasty. If you don't feel like pizza there's meatball appetizer & pimento cheese appetizer. Gelato for dessert. Specialty sodas & organic juices. Really unique. Great ambience.

Jim M.

Yelp
Over priced, uncomfortable seating. Lots of staff standing around doing nothing but want tips. I won't go back.

Lisa R.

Yelp
Very cute place however it took 45 minutes to get my grandkids pizza on a Monday at 1:00pm...ridiculous. when it did come out the server stood there chatting with her co worker while we waited for it. Also the Caesar salad is a $10 box of ice berg lettuce with 1/2 oz of cheese. Sooo not worth it!

James G.

Yelp
Bland, flavorless pizza. It isn't worth half the price there charging. They destroyed a beautiful, historic theatre for pizza that isn't even as good as dominoes.

Mark O.

Yelp
Very nice ambience. Waitress was super cool and spent extra time explaining cooking process, toppings, selection options. Love the pizza and this place is a home run. This place got its name from the fact that each of the two ovens can cook 18 pizzas at a time. This equates to cooking 36 pizzas at the same time. Best tasting pizza in Jacksonville and I consider myself a good judge of great pizza. Parking is a challenge though.

Brandi C.

Yelp
Husband and I went to Electric Dough today and it was AMAZING! the pizza was light, fluffy and flavorful! The building is super cool since it's the old theater & the staff were incredible. We sat at the bar and the craft cocktails were great. The bartender - Riley - went above and beyond! We will be telling all of our friends to check you guys out!

Anne M.

Yelp
Well, the three or four people behind the counter issued a friendly greeting when I ordered one of their salads minus goat cheese. I was told "oh unfortunately, they're premade so we can't take anything out of the salad." That alone gave me pause. So I ordered a different salad. I was handed a salad in a to-go box with a separate lid and the additional shredded chicken in yet another separate little PLASTIC container as was the dressing. This adds up to four things headed for the landfill that I chose to take home, rinse and put in my recycling bin. If the restaurant recycles, I did not notice any indication of such. With a small drink--that you serve yourself--this came to $20. Why would I go to a Restaurant to eat food they can't even bother to serve on a plate? Might I add, you have the option of adding a tip when the screen twirls around in your direction. I haven't tried the pizza so I cannot vouch for its quality, taste or price. I just don't really have any interest in going back. Too bad the theater had to close.
