On the Grid : Electric Fetus

"With it's roots way back in the 60s, Electric Fetus is one of Minneapolis's long-standing counter-culture landmarks. It's name is hard to forget, and the smell of incense will remain in your clothes for hours after your leave, but it'll also leave quite an impression that Electric Fetus is more than just a music shop. Local musicians peruse the vinyl selection. Tickets for any number of shows are available at the counter. Listening stations are peppered throughout the space so you can really immerse yourself in the music. It's definitely a space you'll remember." - Light Grey Art Lab

One of my favorite places in the nation to go and buy records. There hasn't been a time where I've walked in there and haven't been able to find what I want. The selection is incredible, anything you want they probably have. The have care kits and cds and tapes as well. I copped quite a few albums and let's just say, I'm going back again when I have the money, cuz this hobby ain't cheap.

Google
Wonderful selection of vinyls. They also have a bit of other media. The gift shop area is a tad expensive but not everyone will buy a record, while most will buy a tchotchke 😉 so I get it. Everyone I've interacted with has been great.

Google
4 Stars only because Prince loved it. Beautiful merch but everything has become very expensive. I was told that side window would always be devoted to Prince but the last two times I've been there it wasn't. Very few items devoted to him. I know his fans come there and shop just because he loved it. I've taken my whole family here from Michigan. This is my dad.

Always make a stop at Electric Fetus when I’m in the area. Unbeatable selection. An entire section of Prince swag, a selection of clothing and some fun items like old fashioned candy.

The Fetus is essential Minneapolis! If you're a music lover, this is a must-visit. They have an incredible selection of vinyl, CDs, and cassettes, spanning every genre imaginable. Beyond just music, you'll find cool gifts, quirky books, and all sorts of weed paraphernalia. The staff are always super friendly and knowledgeable, making it a great place to browse and discover new artists. What makes the Electric Fetus even better is its proximity to Mia (Minneapolis Institute of Art). You can easily make a day of it: hit up the Fetus for your music fix, and then wander over to Mia for a dose of world-class art and culture. It's a one-two punch that perfectly blends music and culture for an unforgettable Minneapolis experience. Highly recommend!

Google
Very creaky floors and music that mostly doesn't interest me. A cool place just not somewhere to buy anything other mainstream stuff mostly. Cool vibes and nice employees

Google
Nice record shop with some other whatnots and things. It would be easy to get lost in here for a few hours

Google
One of my favorite stores, hands down!! I will drive hours to come here. It’s honestly such a fun store with something for everyone and the record selection is great, as well. They do a lot of in store events! The only reason for the lack of one star is that customer service can be spotty…Never sure what to expect walking in. But only sometimes!

Yelp
This place is massive....it's like...an artistic amusement park, a musical oasis, a spectacle of sounds. If you like music and musical art, it will make you happy. This institution is an intergalactic treasure, an interplanetary marvel, a world of wonder. I'd work here for FREE Now that's thats out of the way...I recommend checking this place out. You'll need at least 20 minutes in here. It was Prince's favorite "wrecka stow" for a reason

Yelp
I love visiting Electric Fetus from time to time. Not only is it an iconic mpls record store but they sale trinkets and goods as well. While they mostly sell records (music wise) they have a great selection cds as well as dvds. I like looking at the jewelry section because they sale stuff made by local artist. When I was younger they used to have the basement level as well as a little reading nook which was cool. Now it's just the upstairs. You can usually find some cool things here. They have a parking lot as well as street parking.

Yelp
Electric Fetus is such a unique store and I love to allow myself time when I buzz in here. Stopped in on Saturday around 3:30pm on 12/21/24. WOWZA! The parking lot was FULL which is the first time I've experienced that. It's a fairly big place, so it really didn't feel crowded. I mainly come into here for incense. Huge variety and very reasonably priced. I love looking around to see all the other goodies they have. Always fun to look at the jewelry, perfume oils, cards, stationary, and mugs. They also have a section for records and that can be fun to look at as well. This is a wonderful spot to go to if you are looking for a gift for someone. Gives me boutique vibes. Staff were friendly and attentive. At checkout, the gal gave me a punchcard to use for January 2025 so I'll definitely be back sooner than I thought (Yayyyy!).

Yelp
When in the cities, we always stop at the Fetus to add to our vinyl collection. They always have an incredible selection of music, gifts, cards. Today I found a new Santana album! The staff is always so helpful and friendly, not to mention knowledgeable.

Yelp
This is probably one of the coolest musical stores that I've seen. Electric Fetus is a must visit for anyone interested in music in all forms. I collect plenty of vinyls and this place has a wonderful collection to choose from. They have Electronic Dance Music, Rock, Goth, Pop, even Japanese My Little Totoro Vinyls, the lost is extensive. They not only have vinyls, but also CDs, merchandise, and anything you can think of music-wise whether you're looking for that special Dad or friend's gift or want to check out music in the most old school cool way of doing it. The interior is quite large and lots of friendly staff to help you. It was also pretty busy on a random weekend too, making it an adventure to just look around. I have found some vinyl gems here for my collection, and if you get a record player as well you can join in the fun. 5/5, I'd easily recommend it to anyone interested in music, or if you want to find a unique musical gift to someone.

Yelp
All I can say is WOW. If you're into vinyls and cool knick knacks this is your place. I found so many cool vinyls I never even thought about getting. The employees were super nice and helpful when looking for items or just to have a conversation. We were told this is actually the place Prince shopped before he passed. If you're in town and this is your kind of vibe, it's a MUST see.

Yelp
Store and Space - one of the coolest shops in Mpls and great for out of towners! Old wood floors and the smell of records. Lots of gifts and tshirts and records and fun stuff to browse. The space is open and light filled and has an old MPLS feel to it. Concerts and release parties - they have local bands come and play a few songs and sell their new records. There's always something going on. I recently attend the Rogue Valley record release and it was so fun to hear the music and have the band sign my record. Staff and service were both steller. I had two interactions with employees who went above and beyond to help me and to be kind. One man was selling tshirts behind the counter at the front of the store and he was just the sweetest, kindest human. The other man that helped me was at the record front and found 2 CDS from Rogue Valley on the shelves for me which I bought. This is just a gem of the cities. Please go and check it out and support our local music makers!

Yelp
I still have dreams about this place The smell and the selection and a cozy place you'd want to listen to your favorite vinyl

Yelp
I love Electric Fetus! This spot is a perfect destination for records and gifts. They host listening parties for new records releasing, so watch their social media to see if they are hosting one of your fav artists. I attended the Boygenius event and was luckily enough to snag a signed lithograph from the band. 11/10!

Yelp
This record store is a Minneapolis institution. Amazing collection of music and memorabilia as well as ticket sales. Sometimes can find hard to find items. Impressive selection of used records as well. Definitely check this out and visit for unique gifts and clothing too. Special orders can be made for anything that their distributors can get.
google avatar

Yelp
Always have a good selection and generous prices on the CDs I dumped on them over the years (try and get more than a buck for Secret Samadhi, ya hipster). One of the best vinyl selections in the metro. Great staff that are friendly and can check you out in a jif.
google avatar

Yelp
I see a lot of reviews about the store and space which are great but the staff is what I want to write about. Bob behind the record counter was great. I asked if they ship records back home and he said YES. I was looking for several very specific kinds of records and he went out of way to help me find what I was looking for. The store has a great selection of music. I did notice that they have way more new music (music in shrink wrap from the factory) then used music. I had a great time and Bob made sure my music was shipped back to Texas.

Yelp
Hip and cool little spot for knickknacks, gifts, retro stuff AND awesome vinyl collection

Yelp
Interesting place to visit. EF has a lot of history in Minneapolis and it was fun to finally get in the store that I had heard so much about. However, I expected to find more music. They did have clothing, jewelry and even coffee mugs, so that was a surprise, but I was truly disappointed in the music selection. I honestly anticipated more.

Yelp
My buddy and I wanted to stop at a couple record stores before we left the Minneapolis area and this one was high on the list. It's a really cool record shop. All of the employees were super nice and grabbed records off of the wall when I asked. (Only twice but still.) I found and picked up a couple really rare records that you can't normally find in the wild. The prices were about right. Not cheap, but also not overpriced. I was pretty stoked. If I lived in the area, this would probably be one of my go to record shops.

Yelp
OMG! This place this fuckin rocks! It's been year since my last visit and stopped by on Saturday to pick up some Christmas goodies for my family here in MN. They have tons of records n unique goodies like clothing, jewelry, incenses, posters, books and what not. I've been to Amoeba Records in Los Angeles and shopped Tower Records so Electric Fetus surpasses them! HIGHLY RECOMMEND!

Yelp
So, I've seen all the reviews and praise people give this place... I recently ordered a vinyl record online from here that mentioned it was a "orange" color pressing (this item had some firm value and hard to find otherwise) but when I received it and opened it up, it was a lower end less valuable "blue" variant. I relly wanted this album in its advertised orange color this store had online. Obviously it's not up anymore on the store web page, so I'm very bummed out big time. False advertisement or a way to get rid of what they didn't want in the store anymore. Not impressed at all. Thanks a lot "Tom"... was I just ripped off online from electric fetus?! So here I am writing a review so people know to be cautious with this establishment online. I'll end up keeping this item only since I love the band, gained a customer at first, but then lost a customer at the end.

Yelp
Founded in 1968, the "Electric Fetus has been a gathering place for music heads and counter-culturists in Minnesota". As a music head, I always stop by Electric Fetus whenever I'm visiting the Twin Cities. The Fetus carries much more than music which just causes me to spend more time (and money) in the store. They have a variety of items including books, clothing, incense, art, etc. which makes it nearly impossible for me to leave empty handed. Also, in addition to selling new/used music, Electric Fetus will buys music. Of course, the primary reason for stopping by is their vast collection of both new and used vinyl. In case you're not into vinyl, they also have a nice inventory of CDs. For both, there are listening stations available for those that want to listen before purchasing. For both vinyl and CDs, they have a 'new arrivals' section which makes it easy to check out what has recently come in. If you prefer a more organized approach, they also have shelves of music organized alphabetically (by artist) which makes the search a little easier. If all else fails. Approach one of the friendly staff members and they will gladly take you to where you item might is located (if in stock). As for the staff, all are welcoming and seem to really enjoy what they do. Never hesitate to ask a question as they will gladly assist you. While I prefer the in-store experience at Electric Fetus, I have ordered from their website on numerous occasions. While the experience isn't as personable, I still receive the same excellent service as my items always arrive when promised and in great shape. There is a parking lot located on the side of the building along with a few spaces behind the building. Additionally, street parking is available in the area. Whether you shop in person or online, if you're a fan of music, I highly recommend checking out Electric Fetus. In the event you're not a music fan, I recommend an in person visit to the store (if possible). The experience might be what you need to embrace your inner 'music head'. NOTE: As if one needs another reason to visit. Electric Fetus and Prince had a special relationship over the years. Electric Fetus was easily his favorite 'Wrecka Stow' and he would often stop in (unannounced) to shop. Just prior to that crazy day in April 2016, he visited, purchased several items and tweeted his appreciation to Electric Fetus. As a continuation of that relationship, the Fetus continues to maintain a solid selection of Prince music. If your collection is missing something, this would be a great place to check.

Yelp
On my first trip to Minnewood and I had to make a pilgrimage to the Electric Fetus, all praises due. Deep sigh. Of course I was all emotional but this was yet another record store that irked me and here's why. I hate how segregated record stores are in the U.S. and Funkadelic not being in the Rock section was a strike. They even poised the question, "Who says a Funk band can't play Rock?" They were tired 40 plus years ago and in 2021 they were sitting right by EPMD. Two totally different genres and artists I both love but come on. I should've looked for Hall and Oates. Welcome 2 America.

Yelp
Cool place. I love shopping here with my son. We are back into vinyl. We love playing vinyl in a Saturday morning with coffee and cleaning. Electric Fetus has an extensive collection, great service and hard to find items.

Steven T.

Yelp
My husband and I were visiting family and friends in Minneapolis and we were looking forward to going to the Fetus. I've ordered records and had them shipped, but was really excited to go there in person. We had artists that we wanted to find before we got there and Max was so helpful in helping find what we wanted. We went a little nuts, thank goodness we set some money aside just for this. We shipped everything back to our home in California and they arrived 3 days later. Thank you Electric Fetus and a BIG thank you to Max for helping us out.

Yelp
My Worst Retail Experience Ever Around the summer of 1971, I bought some underground comix from The Electric Fetus, which at that time was on the West Bank of Minneapolis. They had one copy of each comic on a spinner rack with a number on it, and so I gave the clerk the numbers of the ones I wanted. He got them from the back room, put them in a bag, and rang them up. I paid for them without seeing them. When I got home, I took them out of the bag and discovered that the copy of Yellow Dog Comix that I'd bought had black magic marker writing on the cover. As a comic book collector, this was unacceptable to me, so a couple of days later, I brought it back. The clerk who'd sold the comix to me was behind the counter, with another guy. I came up to the counter and said, "I'd like to return this comic because..." when the other guy interjected, "Because it's defective!" I said, "Well, yeah, it's been written on," and showed it to them. Then the two of them started mocking me, saying, "Oh, it's written on! Oh, isn't that too bad!" or words to that effect. I couldn't believe it. Then the clerk barked, "Do you have the receipt?" I said, "No, you didn't give me one," (which was true). His exact words - which I've never forgotten - were, "It's YOUR responsibility to get a receipt, it's not MY responsibility to give you one." Finally, the clerk got another copy of the comic and flung it at me. "Here," he said, "now take it and GET OUT." I left, and I didn't go back to the Electric Fetus FOR MORE THAN 25 YEARS. I only went there again because they had a CD which I hadn't been able to find anywhere else in town (pre-Amazon). To this day, I only reluctantly shop there. If something like that happened today, I would demand to speak to the manager, and do my best to get those a-holes fired. But back then, I just put up with it.

Yelp
I was going through old pictures, and I came across the pictures I took of this storefront. I didn't know about this place until I asked the staff at the hotel I was staying at about any music stores, record stores, and that kinda deal. I called a Lyft and got taken over here. I'm always open to expanding my music tastes and learning about other artists, and of course with Minneapolis being home to the legendary Prince, I thought I'd pay homage and check out his work. I never had any family or friends who listened to Prince growing up, so my only frame of reference for him in my life was the Super Bowl 41 halftime show, and not the hologram Justin Timberlake used in 52. I will admit though that even though I didn't know who Prince was in 2007, his Super Bowl performance is still by far and away the best I've seen. I asked the staff for recommendations, and I was recommended to start off with a generic "Best of Prince" album. Electric Fetus definitely is reminiscent of old school record stores, and it really was a great experience to be able to come in. One thing the staff told me and I Googled later to verify was Prince was a common frequenter here, so that added to the awesome experience. I wish I was 25 at the time I came here, so I could use a rental car without extra fees, because I definitely would've loved to have swung by Paisley Park. The staff was really friendly, helpful, and knowledgeable, and I was really jealous when a few of them showed me some pictures of them with Prince, because anytime you get to interact and take a picture with a legend, that's always something to be able to talk about. I definitely will stop by when the Covid situation improves and when I come back to the area.

Yelp
Really enjoyed all the selections from new and used records. Unfortunately I was unable to find anything for my collection due to them being sold out, but it was a fun and exciting atmosphere.

Yelp
A Minneapolis gem! Fantastic selection of records and Knick knacks from the twin cities. Vinyl here is a little pricey and they don't have a large used section. I love how they indicate MN artists in the store. Quality stuff and can't wait to return.

Yelp
I love this place. Everyone is super cool & from the time I step in the store I feel welcome. Beautiful vibes & a helpful staff. Thank You

Yelp
Awesome record store with a nice little selection of prince merchandise too. They sell his favorite incense which I picked up two packages of it. all kinds of records, cd's DVD's clothes etc. huge selection of anything music related you could want or need. Very busy store and wait in line is a little tough. Came here because of Prince of course. Glad I did!

Yelp
A great music and gifts store, it makes me happy to have a place like this around.
google avatar

Mikey M.

Yelp
Great store plenty of items to purchase as a gift or personal use. The staff are very helpful and friendly. Good prices on many items and a great variety of music to select. Only downsize wasn't able to find some of the new artist mainly because they send new music straight to YouTube etc but that's no discredit to EF. There's a good selection dedicated to Prince which I was happy to divide into immensely. I came visiting from Los Angeles, CA and EF was highly recommended by friends to come check out. I wish I asked a little more about how the owner cane up with the store's unique name lol it was so bizarre but cool at the same time. I also love that items can be shipped to you as well. Parking is easy side note locals informed me the neighborhood is sketchy so don't go wandering if your not familiar with the area. If I'm back in town I will definitely be back and online for more purchases. Enjoy!

Yelp
I loved it. I wanted to visit this place because Prince was here within a week before his actual death in April of 2016such a sad day for true fans. Just to know I've walked in some of his footsteps brings joy to my heart. I love me some Prince

Yelp
I have no idea why I haven't left a review yet? I've bought a lot of vinyl both new and used. There is a wonderful feeling you get when flipping through previously loved (used) vinyl. You know what I mean ...there are some true gems to be found. Latest purchase Jane's Addiction alive at twenty five 2017 Silver Spoon Anniversary Tour Queens Of The Stone Age V I L L A I N S Don't forget they're here in Minneapolis 10/14 7:30 Roy Wilkins Auditorium So many really cool chotchkies too, you know all that stuff you don't need but have to have!! Super nice staff, very helpful. We love that The Electric Fetus is so close to home. 8/24/2017

Yelp
Great place if you are a music lover and want it on wax. They cover all genre of song as I stated on Wax and CD ...new and used. Depending on your taste and availability it can get pricey...but for vinyl who cares! This spot also sells 45's...remember those...you member. They also sell candles, incense and the ol'peace pipe...for your special herb mix. Ohh and If your a Prince lover your covered here.

Yelp
Love electric fetus, best musical experience of ever and always. I love the posters and the smell
google avatar

Robin R.

Yelp
I live only a few blocks away from The Fetus, so it's my go-to store when I feel the need for new CDs or vinyl. They usually have what I want here, and they're helpful and cheerful. They're also a gift shop, too. I've gotten a few gifts for people here over the years. Their selection is fun and quirky. If I have one criticism of the store in general, it's that they don't carry a lot of classical music. Maybe classical music just hasn't sold well for The Fetus over the years, so that's perfectly understandable.
google avatar

Barb H.

Yelp
This place is incredible. It's way more than a record store. I visited while in Minneapolis because Prince tweeted about the store and was known to visit it. Prior to his death and the collectors stocking up, they sold rarities that he provided exclusively to them for sale. Now, they have a solid selection of Prince music, but I didn't find anything exceptional in stock. Aside from the purple one, the store is a must-see when you are in town. We spent about an hour but could have easily spent twice as long. They sell tee shirts, hats, head-shop stuff, novelties and of course records and CDs. We bought about 10 albums and a couple shirts. Spent about $200. Everyone who works there is super nice too. No douchebaggery.
google avatar

Larry L.

Yelp
You gotta admit -- the service behind the paraphernalia counter is fantastic. They are knowledgeable and helpful.

Yelp
Awesome music store in Minneapolis. I came looking for Prince's new CD and found this place through Yelp and couldn't have been any happier. If "new" vinyl records are what you're looking for; you have to try here. Although they do sell used records, the "new" way outnumber the used. In addition, they do sell all sorts of recorded media (i.e. CDs, movies, etc.) in addition to clothing, incense, and posters amongst other things. I've also seen flyers that advertise in-store concerts! You can bet that the next time I'm in Minneapolis, I will be paying this place a visit. I've heard that this place might be closing... I sure hope not! This place is well worth a visit if you're in the area, including lots of free parking on the street and in a store parking lot on the side. Awesome!!!
google avatar

AJ S.

Yelp
Today marked my first ever visit, and I was super impressed with their selection of music and gifts, as well as their COVID precautions. It's rare to find a store enforcing masks and capacity, but they're doing it and doing it well as evidenced by the queue outside. Can't wait to revisit in the future!
google avatar

Patrick T.

Yelp
One of the coolest record stores in all the land! Back when LET IT BE Records closed in downtown Minneapolis, there was a huge void for a while in a huge record store in the twin cities! That had both new and used stuff in the quantity that any record flipper would like! Until Electric Fetus came along! The store is huge and have tons of records, toys, shirts, dvds's anything a collector might want! This past time I picked up a Woody Allen compilation of his live records on one cd as a gift for Ashley T. They do in-stores, and special events! The staff is great, and they will even cosign your records if you ask politely! Sometimes the store is kinda hard to navigate but once you figure out you are in record heaven! They do have a bathroom they let you use downstairs and they will let you listen to anything before you buy! Top notch, cool design, and great selection of goodies!
google avatar

Misha T.

Yelp
It's a pretty sweet record store but also a pretty sweet knick knack store where one could find good, but not awkwardly too good, gifts for almost any occasion. I'd been meaning to buy Purple Rain on vinyl and as they say, when in Minnesota...

Yelp
This review is VERY delayed, but nonetheless, I decided to write it anyway. How do I love EFetus? Let me write THEE ways! First, it's very centrally located--almost smack-dab in the middle of South Minneapolis. Very easy to get to and hard not to miss when you're going toward St. Paul on 35W. Second, once you walk inside, it's a music and musician lovers' dream world. You can find just about any and every kind of album, CD, cassette tape, and even DVDs now. I love the way how everything is neatly arranged and set up, and there are always some good tunes playing. Third, they sell other cool stuff, too, like scented candles, hats, T-shirts, incense, lunchboxes, jewelry, candy, etc. If I'm not there to purchase any music, I usually go for the candy and/or the incense, and if I see something odd or interesting, I might pick that up, too. Fourth, ticket sales/concert listings. This is really a great idea. Just as you're about to pay for your item(s), you can look up at the whiteboard behind the counter to see which band/artist is playing where and if you want to go see them and tickets are still available, you can buy your ticket right then and there. No lines, no fuss, no muss! Fifth, you can sell still CDs there Look, we've all had our lean times where we're deciding between selling our mint condition Miles Davis CD box set or another night of ramen noodles. Sometimes, the noodles win, other times, you're on your way to EFetus. It happens! Here's my one and only con: THE PARKING The lot is too small, and, if you're lucky, you might be able to park on the street. Bottom line, EFetus will always be a music staple in the Minneapolis/St. Paul area. I can't ever imagine it going away..

Yelp
We have made technological advances that have impacted us all immensely. So much so that we no longer want, need or crave human interaction that involves buying a CD or a Vinyl. Why leave the comfort of your own home when with the click of a mouse you can have it delivered to your mailbox. Electric fetus is unmatched in the encyclopedic-like selection of music they have here. From Lila Downs & Ibrahim Ferrer to Baaba Maal. In the Soul/R&B section - everything from Erykah Badu, Isaac Hayes, Sam Cooke and Marvin Gaye to Michael Kiwanuka. Electric Fetus has every possible genre for every palate. From Metal, Classic Rock, Reggae to Hip Hop. And they even this little game section/toys where you can purchase games like Mr. Bacon's Big Adventure & even Gobo Fraggle hand-puppet. The only knock is their International Section is not as extensive as Cheapo. Then again, they are not a music retail franchise. This is your local neighborhood music store. Only in your local neighborhood music store can you spend 30 minutes talking with the guy behind the counter about Fela Kuti's impact on both music and social activism. Tip: Some used vinyl are a bargain here. Bought Dark Side of the Moon for $5.99 once. And If you spend over $20 on regular vinyl you get up to $5 in used ones.

Yelp
If you're a music fan and visiting Minneapolis, you know that this is where you go to buy records (or CDs if you still do that). It's in a central location and has a pretty cool vibe to it (like most music stores). There are listening stations for both vinyl and CDs (especially important for people who are from out of town and want to buy used vinyl.) They have a section for new arrivals which I find to be your best bet when crate digging. (If you're looking for specific stuff, by all means, cruise by alphabet but I find some of my best digs come from the new arrivals section.) Since Minneapolis is such a great music town, there are definitely some good finds to be had. Also, their new vinyl section is pretty well stocked. In addition to vinyl and CDs, they sell t-shirts, incense, knick-knacky stuff (kinda like a Spencer's actually).

Yelp
Made at this "wrecka stow"'while in town to visit Paisley Park. I could have stayed for hours browsing thru the vinyl section. They have a nice selection of Prince memorabilia. I was trying to be mindful and not buy more items than my suitcase could handle so I made a note to order some things online only to find out everything in store is not listed on line.. Le sigh. Oh well that just gives me a reason to come back again.

Yelp
Hands down the best record store in the Twin Cities, and likely the entire state of Minnesota. The staff is always friendly and super helpful, they have a gigantic selection of essentially everything you can imagine, and you never know who you might bump elbows with flipping through stacks of records. I love the Fetus!

Yelp
I LOVE this place!! Totally scored on some great albums the other day.... one was an early Fleetwood Mac that was "used" for only $2.99. (no scratches at all!) Schweet!! Plenty of parking in the back.... so no worries there. But go here for the awesome music selection and amazing, unique gifts! Seriously, there's some super cool gift and knick-knacks here. What i really like.... is when you're looking through the music selections, they have a special green label w/ a little MN on it -- so you know right away if the band's local or not. Very cool touch!

Yelp
Definitely not a good first time experience. The person who waited on me kept looking around like he would rather be on the island listening to Bob Marley and when I told him 1 of the artist I was looking for he said "oh you wont find HIM here" actually he was wrong as the artist was at least in their computer but I already have that album. The store reeked of questionable product as soon as you walked in the door, and most of the employee's made me feel uncomfortable. Now mind you this store is known for it's more outrageousness so I may be slightly harsh but I didn't feel comfortable at all. If it's the outrageous you're looking for this place might be good, but the soft and mellow is not hot on their lists.

Yelp
The Electric Fetus combines so many wonderful things all into one place. First, it's an amazing music shop. The sheer amount of vinyl is great, both old and new, all categorized and organized with incredible precision. As an organization freak, I really enjoyed and appreciated the careful labeling and the touches like the special placecards that note Minnesota artists. Second, the Fetus is a super place to score tickets for shows at upcoming venues. We stopped to buy tickets for two upcoming shows and estimate we saved at least $30 in fees. Hooray!!! Third, I was surprised when I first visited to find that the Electric Fetus is also part gift shop. They specialize in fun and quirky items, which really is fun to shop and also seems to fit the vibe just perfectly. In all, it makes for a totally pleasant shopping experience. Give yourself extra time to look around. You'll need it.

Yelp
Great store -- if you are looking for a record, the Electric Fetus has it. Vinyl? Check. Still rocking CDs? The Electric Fetus has what you need. In addition to their amazing music selection, they also sell a wide array of novelty items, Prince memorabilia, and clothing. Their items are distinctive and affordable. Additionally, they are super kind. When I lived out of state and would visit, they always gave me boxes to ship records to myself if they had them and their customer service is great.
