Came here with 2 children 7 & 4 at around 6-8pm. The Service was Amazing!! They were very Welcoming. The atmosphere was warmly lit with a great ambiance good music of all types. They don't have an actual kids menu but my kids love the Grilled Butter Chicken & Cheese panini with fries and rice. We also ordered 2 Chicken Tikka Marsala & 1 Shrimp Tikka Marsala. 2 orders of Naan, 1 Virgin Mumbai. We were stuffed. They do automatically charge a 20% tip as part of your bill. You also can get a good deal on Groupon!! David was our Server and Bartender!! His drink was amazing and they offer Virgin mocktails for all of their drinks.

Just about everything here was excellent. The queso was some of the best in town, it had great flavor and was a good portion size. Definitely want to come for happy hour. The grilled cheese left a bit to be desired, can absolutely skip that next time we visit.

Came here with some friends and have an overall pleasant experience but the food was a bit underwhelming. The 2 standouts were the fried paneer and the flan. The Karachi chicken standalone dish and chicken tikka standalone dish were not bad but also not amazing. There wasn’t much sauce and it felt like a cross between dry and curry chicken. This isn’t a problem necessarily but a description under the items would help set expectations a lot. The flavor was so so, not bad, but not so good that we wanted to eat the whole dish. The drinks and apps were the best part. If I came here again, I would probably just not order from the main dish menu. The vibe was easy going and pleasant. The food came out a bit odd though. A few of us got the same dishes but they came out at vastly different times. But servers were nice 🙌🏽✨

Fun, casual, Indian inspired restaurant & bar serving up $5.00 happy hour food and drink specials from 5 to 7 pm. The Samosas and the French Fries were pretty good and crispy. A bit on a salty side though. The Margarita and the Mule specials were ok. A bit too sweet. The Kabutar cocktail was nice and refreshing.  The "Gravy of the Day" special comes with rice and was a really huge portion.  For $5 this is a good deal. The food quality and presentation was good enough for bar food , but not if you are looking for an authentic Indian restaurant.  The staff was super accommodating and friendly.  Free parking lot is in the back and parking is validated. We will definitely come back.

Ahh, I like fusion restaurants. While Austin misses the mark with authentic Indian and indo Chinese restaurant, these guys do a good job. Went here with office colleagues after a long week. Cocktails - I think they could do better. I'd probably give them a 4/5 here. They could definitely go bolder in their flavor profile. I'd recommend the pudina Marg and the kabutat. All the food was great. Probably a 5/5. Highly recommend the tadka fried chicken on naan. We landed up getting another round. The fried paneer was also great with the butter chicken dip. Highly recommend the curry queso but add the naan along with that. Good to see a place like this open up.

Such a cute place to eat. Our server was incredibly friendly and the atmosphere was perfect. Neither me or my friend were super impressed by our entrees, but we definitely loved the curry queso. I would definitely try this place again.

Great concept by the former executive Chef at Sway. Austin is short on creative Indian food concepts. This place has a fun atmosphere and food is delicious! The curry queso is a must-order for the table!

I cannot recommend the tadka Dal highly enough. That along with the vada pav were exceptional. The happy hour gravy dish was a complete bargain: $5 for a curry and rice.

I took my son here for his birthday last week and we really enjoyed the food and the experience. It isn't clear where to park but there is street parking and a dirt lot that we think is okay to park in, but we parked on the street a block behind the restaurant just to be safe. The food was a unique/fusion take on Indian food. We had the pork vindaloo, saag paneer, samosas, curry queso, and curry chicken panini. Everything tasted fresh. We of course had leftovers! The mango lassi rum drink was like but a little strong of a rum flavor and the mezcal/tamarind cocktail was just the right amount of sweet. The waitress surprised us with a birthday treat of chai flan which none of us had ever had. We enjoyed it and like that it also had coconut flakes and a coconut flavored cookie! Hope to go back again and try out a few more items on the menu.

THE BIG: Located right off of 11th street and near Old Thousand. Very vibey interior with tons of colors. Street parking available. THE BLACK AND WHITE: The wife and I came here for Austin Restaurant Week and it was also during happy hour. We wanted to try the samosas and ordered that off the happy hour menu, which is very well priced. For the restaurant menu tasting, we got to choose an appetizer, entree, and a dessert. So we got the curry fried chicken, chicken tikka masala, mango lassi, naan, kachumber salad, and raita. The entree came with the cucumber salad, raita, and rice. Flavors were good but didn't blow me out of the water. Service was also very slow for almost no one being there on a Sunday. That also dampened the experience. THE FINAL BAMBOO: Ultimately, we spent around $52 for everything. Pretty good pricing, however food was alright and the service could've been better.

Food was decent and service was just okay. My husband and I came for restaurant week to check this place out! The portion for restaurant week is massive, so we just got happy hour samosas and one restaurant week order. The samosas were fantastic, my favorite part of the meal. The chicken bites were overly fried and the chicken tikka Marsala lacked sauce and flavor. I also didn't like the flat naan. Service was slo very slow. It took a while to get our check and when we asked for our mango lassi with our meal, they gave it to us after our meal. I had to ask for it in a to go cup. Overall the space is nice, and the food is okay, but the service ruined it for me. I recommend only coming for the great HH deal.

3.5/5. We tried Electric Gravy for restaurant week and ordered chicken skewers, curry fried chicken, samosas, pork vindaloo, and butter chicken, finishing with a rice crispie treat. The portions were generous and the value was solid, but overall the food was just okay. The naan was soggy and not light and fluffy like I'm used to. Service was the biggest drawback. At 5:30pm with only a few other diners, our server took forever to take our order and gave off the vibe that we were bothering her. For such a slow night, I expected much more attentive service, and it definitely impacted the experience. The highlight of the night ended up being the drinks. The chai espresso martini was excellent and worth coming back for. I might return for cocktails, but probably not for the food or service.

Pro-tip: have your order ready to put in on one shot. Such a fantastic experience! Service was a bit slow, but it allowed us to catch up with our guests. We all appreciated the careful attention to craft with the cocktails, focusing on ingredients other than sugar. The Dirty Chai Espresso Martini and Pudina Pani Marg were favorites amongst the cocktail choices, followed by Samosas, Curry Fried Chicken, and Curry Queso for appetizers. The Queso is one of a kind! I'd you're feeling nacho chips, do not miss out. Samosas are fried well, and the chicken was exactly as described. All gravies and plates were fantastic, you can't go wrong with any choice. And don't forget the garlic naan!!

This was another Austin Restaurant Week pick for me and a table of friends. $40 for an appetizer, entree (with rice, naan, and cucumber salad), and dessert The staff was polite and accommodating, but service was a bit slow. The food was good, but it came with mixed reviews from our table regarding the spice level, and that's when we noticed we weren't asked how spicy we wanted our entrees. I enjoyed the malvani chicken. It greatly benefitted from the cucumber salad because the entree alone wasn't spicy enough for me. The samosas were delightful, and the brisket curry was the table favorite. The stars of the show were the basmati rice and the bhel cereal treat dessert! One confusing thing that occurred when we were seated at our table was the fact that the staff kept sitting other parties at the immediate tables around us. They did not utilize the other side of the restaurant, didn't skip a table, and didn't ask if we were okay sitting next to other parties and being privy to every word of their conversations. We asked to move a few tables down and were obliged; It's a small space, so there was no obvious reason why this wasn't done in the first place. It was odd.

Great casual south asian restaurant with reasonable prices. Fried paneer was an awesome appetizer. We had the chicken tikka as our main course with garlic naan and mango lassi. I would come back to enjoy it all again! Highly recommend making a reservation. We were a walk-in and the service was a bit slow-- we waited 30 min before someone came and took our order.

Came here for happy hour several times and loved it!! I love getting their chaat masala fries and samosas with the maharastran mule!! The curry changes out everyday but the Karahi chicken is my favorite!! It's so nice and spicy and well seasoned. I had their pork vindaloo a different time and it was sour and not very good. The interior is so cute and nostalgic plus they play a lot of throwback bollywood!! Overall definitely coming back!!

We are not tough to please but something's could be better at this place. Lets start with the positives. The Samosas were flavorful. This is where it ends. We also got the chicken naan and the saag paneer sandwich. The chicken was chewy and probably fried too long, although the flavor was reasonable. The saag paneer had no flavor to speak of; it came across as a big lump of cheese and paneer thrown between two slices of bread. Their outside seating is very congested, I wish they removed 2 tables and space out others so I don't feel like I am a part of the conversation people next to me are having. The inside ambiance is nice and there are other things on the menu we might try if we feel adventurous and go again

Electric Gravy is located in our neighborhood and is the sister restaurant to one of our most fave places, Old Thousand. They're located almost next door to one another. If you're not familiar with the neighborhood, it can be hard to spot the entrance to Electric Gravy. The facade is reminiscent of a brick office building. Fear not, they've got a visible sign hanging on the building. The exterior has a nice patio area for outdoor eating. The interior decor is light and fresh with total vibes of India throughout. The staff are beyond amazing. Wow. Just some really great folks. There's a long bar with seating as well as standard seating. The food is brilliantly curated by infusing the most fragrant Indian flavors giving everything a wildly delicious taste. The prices are fair and reasonable, especially during happy hour. They've got a happy hour menu with select apps, entrees, and cocktails for just five bucks! The Kachumber salad is one of the best I've ever had. I could eat it everyday! Samosas are perfectly cooked and not dried out like they can be at other establishments. The chutney grilled cheese is crazy good. The pork vindaloo made me feel like we were actually in India! It's that good! Rice, perfectly cooked (oh, I hate an under or over cooked rice). The cocktails!!!! Honestly, they taste like something you expect from a high-end cocktail bar. My neighborhood rocks and so does this small business which I will always support.

Fun and creative menu for both food and drinks. We ordered classics of Saag Panner and Malvani with Shrimp. Both were flavorful and very generous portions that easily could have fed two people. For drinks, we ordered two of their cocktails, which were also very tasty. The interior is bright and festive. The only complaint was they were having trivia night the Thursday we went, so it was very loud (and seemed to be only for a handful - five or less - people). Our waiter was very kind.

Holy Chaat! Had an excellent experience at Electric Gravy. Great location, unique decor, friendly staff, creative drinks and Bomb(ay) food. The naan was slightly different from what I'm used to, but paired well with the chicken tikka.

I was really excited to try this spot for dinner but was somewhat disappointed. The appetizers and drinks were AMAZING but the main meals i thought were a bit subpar. I know this spot is more of a modern take on indian but the naan didn't feel authentic at all- almost tasted more like pita. And even the chana didn't really taste like a normal chana masala- a lot more dry than I would've liked. I will be back for Happy hour, but I just wish the food was a little more authentic. The vibes inside were awesome on a Friday night - definitely packed so make a reservation! Service was also quick at the bar. I would recommend trying at least once

Checked out this modern Indian restaurant and thought the vibe was spectacular with colorful quilts on the walls and beautiful tiling on the ceiling. Just a really cool and interesting space. Started with the cucumber and tomato salad, which was a great appetizer, lightly spiced and refreshing. Only complaint is the overwhelming amount of onions, I felt like half the dish was just raw onion at the bottom. Tried the grilled cheese with butter chicken. It did not exactly remind me of butter chicken but was still a delicious sandwich. Would definitely come back to try more. It is also in a great location with plenty to explore nearby in walking distance.

This is such a cute restaurant, and staff is so friendly! Service was really good. Our waiter checked up on us numerous times throughout the night. I thought the food was subpar, though. The mango lassi's consistency was too icy instead of creamy. My chicken tikka masala wasn't sauce-y enough, and like another review said, the naan was more like pita bread rather than actual naan. The chicken of the tikka masala was really good and moist. The curry queso was quite interesting.

Vibe: 5/5 Service: 5/5 Drinks: 4/5 Food: 2.5/5 The restaurant is beautifully decorated with a very ethnic vibe and Bollywood music bringing a fun groove to the place. Loved the Indian flavored twist to cocktails. Food was bit of a letdown as it didn't really capture the authentic Indian flavors as much. The paneer tadka starter could have used a side of tamarind chutney or such and saag paneer was decent but not great. Grilled naan seemed like it was store bought rather than made in-house. The servers and bartenders are very attentive - 5 star service! Pro tip: Make a reservation in advance as indoor seating is limited and the place is packed on weekends.

Absolutely worth a visit for the drinks & vibes! Love the colorful decor, fun art, and retro Bollywood style of this new modern Indian fusion restaurant in east Austin. Enjoyed the oldie Bollywood songs they played as well! The drinks were phenomenal, the best part of my experience. I ordered the dirty chai espresso martini and it was just so delicious! I'll be back just for that. Don't expect authentic Indian food here. Go with an open mind to a fusion experience with some Indian flavors. We ordered: - electric fries - masala fries with a slight kick. A huge hit for the table. - curry queso - absolutely delicious and a nice shareable appetizer! - grilled paneer skewer - mild space level yet packed with flavor. A hit with the kids! - saag paneer - very tasty and fairly authentic! - karahi chicken - pretty spicy but good! I would not recommend ordering the naan as it's just grilled pita bread, not real naan. Stick with rice instead.

So this is a beautiful spot on e 11th. The ambiance is nice and the cocktails are excellent. However, as an Indian person, I think my standards for Indian food are pretty high and I think it missed the mark. The saag paneer grilled cheese was good and the fries were ok but the chana masala was one of the worst Chana masala's I've ever had. I was particularly disappointed because this was touted all over ig as one of the best dishes (but by predominantly white influencers) the service was fine but I was surprised that they did not have ketchup for fries or ranch (both on the menu for Other dishes). overall, I'd pop in for a drink and maybe an app but would not come back for the mains.

I think I've found my favorite Indian restaurant close to downtown! I visited Electric Gravy on their second day of being open and everything went great. Service was fast and our waiter was very attentive. The food was also really good. We got the curry queso, saag paneer, and the kabutar and pudina pani marg. The curry queso is a must have in my opinion. The saag paneer was also really good, my only gripe with it was that there was too much paneer. The drinks were really strong but I'm not complaining haha The pudina pani marg was spicy and I really liked it. Overall, I had a great time at this restaurant. Will definitely come back!!

Went to Electric Gravy for their $5 happy hour last month with some friends. Liked it but didn't love it. The frozen lassi painkiller was the best drink we all tried, and I must say the curry queso was great. But everything else was just OK or not really discounted from their regular menu. I didn't get to try their main dishes but for a HH it definitely worked out for us. Not sure it was enough to make me go back though.

The food here is incredible! You have to get the curry queso if you go, it was amazing and also a unique flavor and twist on typical Tex Mex queso (if you like typical queso, you'll love this). The samosas were also incredible along with the mango lassi and chicken tikka masala. The service was quick, attentive, and really friendly with great recommendations. There's a lot of seating inside and outside with a cute atmosphere and decor.

Great Mumbai bar/restaurant with a twist. From the same owner of Old Thousand, this place has classic Indian staples like Saag Paneer plus fusion options like butter chicken grilled cheese. And amazing unique drinks like the Mumbai margarita made with pani puri mix. And everything is well priced for Austin!

Omg! This place was so good. The sign is small so I had to do a double take to make sure I had arrived. I came here for happy hour. Every thing is $5! I loved the pain killer drink bc it's frozen and tasted like mangos. The Mumbai 75 ( a take on the French 75) also very good but kinda hard to drink with all the flower pieces as garnish. I loved the fries and the cilantro chutney was my favorite thing on the menu. Curry queso also really good but I prefer ordering the naan over the chips to dip. Samosas were good but let them cool down before you bite into them. I'm still nursing a roof mouth burn. I liked the tumeric sauce over the cilantro chutney for those. They have a rotating "gravy" entree for $5 the one we had was the Karahi chicken. Great flavor could have used a little more sauce. The desserts were not overly sweet and we were a big fan of the coconut flan that was not on the menu. The mango lassi was basically a mango smoothie.

So I went here a few weekends ago in a Sunday afternoon, and it was packed! The parking situation is on the street or in the garage, they validate. The ambiance is so chic and very ethnic. It reminds me of all the cliches you can think of from back home, and it's there! :) i liked it. The restaurant is heavily customized for non Asian palattes, it's not overly spicy but has enough cream thatit doesn't make you puke. The naan was okay! I liked their paneer appetizer but I would only go back for their drinks. The drinks were really nice!

Skip this place! Another disappointing Indian attempt of a restaurant in austin Food - bland, not fresh, and not authentic to Indian cuisine - naan is burnt pitas - electric fries- soggy potato sticks with no special chutney - chicken kadhai- super bland, weirdly tiny portion served on unflattering dishwater Service- -extremely slow, had to keep flagging down staff -uneducated on Indian pronunciation of items- it's chicken tikka Not tikki!! Ambiance- got seated in a weird hot corner in the back of the restaurant staring at sad yellow walls

First time dining here was for a duel birthday party for a group of 7. We were able to try most of the starters & ordered all the gravies! Everything from the samosas to the curry queso were amazing. The pakoras with spinach were also very good. Great cocktails & wine offerings. Everyone in our group loved it!

Ambience here is lovely. Really liked the food - at a lot of Indian places in Austin there is very little protein in the curries and they're mostly sauce, so I was pleasantly surprised to see a lot of paneer and chicken in the Gravies we ordered. Taste was fantastic and naan was super buttery. Queso ended up being my least favorite - more of a sauce and too oily for my liking, but it was by no means bad. I would try other apps next time. Drinks were good and creative. I would definitely come back here! They are putting a lot of effort into this place which speaks well for them believing in their mission and food.

When we arrived, my friend, who had parked behind the building, asked the hostess how to pay. She didn't say a thing, just pointed to the QR code located behind her on the wall. My friend was trying to take a photo of it and she just stood there in the way. That gesture by her was just the start of a substandard dining experience. After we were seated, it was an extended period of time before this same person came over to the table. By the way, the restaurant was not busy at all. The music was really loud and she couldn't hear us and we couldn't hear her talk so I asked her to please turn down the music. What made it a little worse was that she talked in a really soft voice and the four us had to continually ask her to repeat what she was saying. She also was borderline rude just because she acted so distant like she was not real interested on waiting on us. Even though water hadn't been served yet, she was trying to take our drink order. I told her that my wife and I would like Old Fashions and if they served Marker's Mark. She just gave me a strange look. Feeling a little frustrated, I got up and asked the bartender if they had Marker's Mark. They didn't although they had Bulleit Bourbon. I went back to the table and told her we would like Bulleit Old Fashions. The drink orders took a very long time to be served. Meanwhile, we had to ask for water even though there were water glasses set on the table. During the meal, we had to ask again to refill water container. The food was ok although nothing special at all and the menu was very limited. Overall, the evening at Electric Gravy was not enjoyable. We don't plan to eat there again. What is amazing to me is that someone will invest a lot of money and time to open a restaurant then employ wait/hostess staff that is obviously not trained or qualified for the position and has a disposition that is not conducive to interacting with customers. I would bet that many other people have had the same experience and that the restaurant will go out of business by year's end!

The drinks really shine here. I like grabbing a couple of nice drinks before I go out on the town and consume god knows what. The frozen lassi is delicious. Sweet, but I could finish one on every visit and then move onto the next drink. The Kabutar was very good too. It had some flavors I wasn't used to having in a drink, such as tamarind. Having been jaded from the upscale drink options in town, I was quite surprised in that regard. As far as food goes, the finger foods were my favorite. You have to get the Pakora. There are times when I hate fried food, but this was so delicately fried that the batter and salt weren't overwhelming. It pairs really well with a cold beer or drink. The Fried Chicken on Nann was another one of my favorite. Tikka masala was good, but don't expect it to be styled like most other restaurants. I found it to be more mild and had a smokey element to it. The Grilled Paneer was addicting, it left me wishing I could have a velveeta sized brick of it. All in all I'd say it's a great send off spot to get the night started.

Honestly this place was just okay.. the samosas were good, cocktails were great, queso was solid. The chicken tikka was super disappointing. The gravy had no flavor and the chicken had wayyy too much char, so it was all you could taste. The Chana masala was alright. Saag paneer was just alright as well. Just not enough flavor across the entrees / gravies.

Best chicken tikka masala I've ever had! The chicken has a real charcoal grilled flavor, same goes for the naan. Service was attentive and the atmosphere was just bustling enough to have a nice conversation but still feel energized. Do not miss!

Upon arrival I was greeted with warm hellos and was promptly sat. The ambiance is welcoming and homey. We ordered multiple drinks on their beverage menu and found that each was uniquely delicious in its own way. They somehow found a way to take the drinks that Austin loves and add a twist that compliments the atmosphere and food! Our food arrived quickly and with a smile! After trying an assortment of apps, mains, and gravies it is clear that Electric Gravy is my favorite Indian restaurant! The flavors pop but each dish has a story to tell. I am career chef and I appreciate the composure of traditional spices with a modern take on how the dish is presented. 10/10 would recommend!

The food is alright, we were expecting great. We ordered the Spinach/Onion pakoras which were great tasting but very oily. For the entrees we ordered the Pork Vindaloo and the Saag Paneer. The Saag Paneer was great but the Pork Vindaloo was just ok. The Mumbai 75 cocktail was very good. The ambience is excellent. Old photos on the wall reminded us of our childhood in Bombay. But the service was terrible. Our waitress was rushing around and we waited forever to get her attention. Ok for a visit but not a must-go. We were looking forward to it a lot but were disappointed.

We visit many restaurants in Austin--this is the new top of our list. Great food--tasty, flavorful, spicy. The service was fast, super friendly and fun. Ambiance is perfect for Austin. Highly recommended--maybe we will see you there, we will for sure be back many times!

What a fabulous restaurant! The food, atmosphere, and service are top-notch, and I look forward to returning. (I only wish it hadn't taken me so long to go in the first place!) Our server, Myonni, couldn't have been more attentive, courteous, and helpful. She answered our questions, described the dishes perfectly, and made great recommendations. Ask for Myonni when you go!

The food was good, the drinks were unique and tasty!! Myonni was so great! She checked on us the perfect amount of times and was so helpful with all of our questions. I have a gluten allergy and she was incredibly helpful in making sure I would not be glutened!! Her vibes were fun and we will 100% be back for karaoke!!

Ambiance, food, and service were superb! We wanted everything on the menu, including the drinks. It is an excellent modern Indian restaurant that is exciting to try the interesting options. Definitely try the fried paneer appetizer-- that was our favorite. Loved it!

Great drinks--creative, well-balanced, and the highlight of the experience. But the food? Underwhelming. I understand that the direction was a creative take on Indian flavors but it felt muted and didn't live up to the concept. I think in an attempt to be unique, it lost a lot of the essence I was expecting. Service was solid, and the vibe was nice. I'd come back for cocktails but not dinner.

One of the most enjoyable dining experiences I have had in a long time. Just so special. We had Brandy as our server and she was fantastic. I hope I spelled her name correctly. She was really energetic and delightful and made our dining experience great. I highly recommend the Lassi Painkiller. So so so good. The Samosa's were the best I have ever had, along with the dipping sauces. The electric fries, the fried chicken, Naan bread, all amazing!! I had to order the paneer panini and it was absolutely divine. The star was the Saag Paneer. Woah!! Can't wait to go back. Headed to their sister restaurant (Old Thousand) tomorrow for brunch because it is so good! We have been going for years with our kids and we just love Old Thousand. And now we have Electric Gravy. Yay!!!!

Appetizers and drinks were delicious and unique! Our group loved just about all the apps and the chutneys that accompanied them. The paninis were excellent too. The staff was attentive and service was seamless. As someone who was born in Mumbai, I found the ambiance to be nostalgic and authentic. At the same time, I love the modern twist on everything, which makes the experience unexpected and fun. I highly recommend a visit. I know I'll be going back soon!

Everything we ate was absolutely delicious! The true standout though was the service - we were celebrating a friend's birthday and they treated us so well! Would highly recommend!
