Impressive place with amazing flavors! Didn’t miss the meat 🥩 Black bean burger was filling and well balanced. Love the red onion that brings the burger taste to the max. Buffalo cauliflowers were slightly breaded and fried accompanied by carrots and a light ranch sauce. Thai salad 🥗 yum 😋 the tofu was perfectly crisp topped with very fresh ingredients pulled together by the Asian vinaigrette. How cute is the little note. 🦋💗🥰

Google
elephant + vine has some of the best plant based food i have ever tried. the texture and taste of their plant based meats feel incredibly similar to the real thing and i found myself coming back multiple times. the staff members are such delightful people (and i totally recommend leaving them a nice message in the “special requests” section if you order via kiosk). the only somewhat negative thing i’d say is that the prices are in fact, very chicago (definitely more expensive than your average fast food place).

Google
This is our favorite restaurant for a quick and fun family meal. Our kid loves the Ele Burger kids meal with the impossible burger. Their burger and french fries rival McDonald's non-vegan counterparts. We also always order the BBQ Cauliflower wings and the yummy fountain drinks (orange cardamom, strawberry dragon fruit, and lemonade!). The milk shakes are awesome too!

Google
Wow! I had the Buffalo Rice Bowl Seasoned Jasmine Rice, Hand-Battered Buffalo Cauliflower, Mixed Greens, Roasted Corn, Cabbage Slaw, Carrots, Avocado, Tomato, Ranch Dressing. The Hand Battered, fried cauliflower then covered in Buffalo Sauce was fantastic. The service was but super, super helpful and polite. I was thrilled to find a new lunch option. I’ll be back!!! And recommend to friends!

Google
A perfect place to stop by on a warm summer day! Enjoy the weather and have a refreshing meal outside! Their impossible burgers were good but nothing super special. Shakes and fries were amazing however and very worth it. Prices are a bit high but not super terrible if you're just passing through.

Google
It’s great to see a vegan fast casual restaurant doing so well in Evanston. The food is very good, especially the chicken sandwiches and milkshakes, not to mention the limited-time root beer float. The only reason I’m not giving 5 stars is because the prices are simply too high. You won’t get a burger meal for under $16. Pricing aside, this place rocks.

Google
We ate here on a Saturday evening and the food was very slow to come out. Clearly, the restaurant was understaffed given how busy they were with takeout and to-go orders. Not only was it slow, the rice in the Thai bowl was way over cooked. Overall, I think the idea of this restaurant is good but the prices are way too high for the food being average. Had high hopes for this restaurant, but would likely go somewhere else for better Vegan options in the future.

Google
I highly recommend this place! The ele burger is one of my best go to when I have to go on a fast errand! The taste of the burger was cooked to perfection and the Oreo shake is a 10/10! One of the best shakes there!!! Everything is vegan and one of the most healthiest places to eat! The staff are very friendly especially the young man who works in the cashier gave me an outstanding service! And atmosphere is very clean and friendly!

Addie B.

Yelp
Delicious, fresh food. Really nice staff! I recommend the Thai crunch salad. I'll definitely be back :)

Yelp
Came here one afternoon with my husband and ordered the Buffalo Chik'n Burger, SoCal Wrap (with Chik'n), and Cauli Wings. Both the burger and wrap were delicious--the flavors were spot on, and the Chik'n was fantastic. We had a great experience at their sister restaurant, Spirit Elephant, which led us to try Elephant and Vine. The Cauli Wings, while flavorful and spicy, had way too much sauce. A little adjustment there would go a long way. One thing that felt off was the use of black plastic utensils, which seems out of place at a vegan spot focused on environmental consciousness. Additionally, serving Coke and Sprite doesn't align with the health-focused values often associated with veganism. A shift to more eco-friendly utensils and natural beverage options would make a lot more sense for a vegan restaurant.

Yelp
Elephant and Vine is a cute, little plant-based spot in downtown Evanston. They have a variety of wraps, sandwiches, bowls, and smoothies. I ordered the buffalo rice bowl and the kale smoothie. Both were good. This is a nice addition to the area.

Bridget M.

Yelp
I refuse to rate the food because my experience was so poor! I waited over 40 minutes for my food and there was no one there at the time I ordered. 3 people arrived much later and they all received their food promptly. Sad because my daughter is a vegetarian and finding places for her is difficult, we will not be back!

Kayli D.

Yelp
I ordered the spicy avocado + egg sandwich from Elephant and Vine. I actually ordered two, because sometimes vegan breakfast sandwiches aren't filling, but the portion of this sandwich was perfect. It's often difficult to find a good vegan breakfast sandwich because it always taste like something is missing, but this was incredibly flavorful and they absolutely did not skimp on the avocado! The spicy aioli was delicious! I wish I ordered extra on the side. I ordered through a food delivery service so I can't speak for the atmosphere or service but the sandwich tasted like it was made with love.

Daniel M.

Yelp
Good ambiance plus tasty food that is healthy and reasonably priced too. The service is great and nice too. Their dragonfruit juice is great, also mixed with their lemonade. Nice place with all vegetarian options.

Jay C.

Yelp
Incredibly tasty! I ordered the Southwest Salad with tofu and cilantro lime dressing ($15) to go but discovered they gave me a Thai Crunch bowl instead. Whatever! it was amazing and it was too late to go back! Service was friendly and fast. Even if your diet isn't 100% plant based (mine isn't) you will find something delicious here. If my order was correct (and if they included a fork!) it would be 5 stars.

Sabrina J.

Yelp
Finding menus with plant based options isn't always easy, so it was great to find this restaurant and find that the food was AMAZING! I had the mammoth burger, which has an Impossible Burger base with a Big Mac type sauce on it. Oh my word, it was so delicious! I also tried the brownie, which is gluten free, as an added bonus. It's a different texture than a non plant based full of gluten brownie, but when you get past that, the taste was very good. Chocolately and dense.

Jon D.

Yelp
Unique fast casual concept here with all plant based food. I had a bean and avocado burrito and my wife had the cauliflower wrap. They were good and a nice change of pace for travelers who often have to eat crappy food. A healthy and light meal, definitely recommend this place.

Sitav E.

Yelp
Absolute amazing food, love that I can get guilty pleasure food like a double cheeseburger and it's fully vegan plant based! Wish we had one of these where I live, food was so good we came back the next day two days in a row, before we had to leave town!

Christina K.

Yelp
Boy oh boy..... That freaking Baja burger is so freaking delicious! I got it with impossible meat, which was too with avocado, red onion, pico de gallo, tomatoes, and a siracha aioli; I added ketchup to mines. This burger was made with complete love. I wanted to take a picture but it was too late, I devoured it. I am not a vegan but I will take their burgers over all else. Please try them if you haven't.

Jill H.

Yelp
We had a short timeframe to grab a bite for lunch today. Elephant and Vine was down the street so we popped into hive this vegan fast casual place a try. I quickly decided on the cauliflower SoCal wrap (record time for me, I can be very indecisive!). Wow, was it a great choice! It was probably the best thing I ate today. Different from the usual offerings. Generous chunks of breaded cauliflower with a perfect crunch. All the elements come together for a terrific wrap. Make it a meal with sweet potato fries and drink and you are all set! Even non-vegans should be able to find something to delight your palette!

Emily J.

Yelp
The mammoth burger here was pretty tasty but definitely a messy one. Also tried the SoCal chik'n wrap which was a little too juicy and on the sweeter side with the corn and sauce. Still had a nice, cool refreshing crunch with iceberg lettuce and plenty of veggies. Definitely ordered a single patty and sweet potato fries and got a double and regular fries. The counter girl basically walked away while we were paying and never returned. Not friendly service in the slightest but the place has cute decor and a full menu of veggie opts. Probably great if/when the employees are more engaged in their work.

Phaithe N.

Yelp
Great plant-based eats, and you'll never believe it's not meat. The staff is fun and helpful. The sweet potato fries and vegan Strawberry milkshake are a must! The restaurant isn't huge, but it's clean and welcoming.

Yelp
[Elephant + Vine] Local Plant Based / Vegan restaurant opened in 2022 with locations in Evanston and Lincoln Commons. This location was the Evanston location. EYangEats + Company ordered: SoCal Wrap with the sweet chili vegan chicken option Rating: 10/10. This was mind blowing. I rate very few things 10/10 but this was crazy good. Never did I imagine something without meat would be so good and the sweet chili sauce was elite. SaBrown's Rating: 9.5/10 Buffalo Rice Bowl featuring cauliflower as the main source of protein Rating: 6/10, to me it was just another regular ole salad with maybe some hints of a Buffalo cauliflower SaBrown's Rating: 8/10 SaBrown also rated other things on their menu since she has tried some of their previous items before. Baja Burger featuring impossible meat SaBrown's Rating: 9/10 PortoHouse Bowl featuring mushrooms as the main source of protein SaBrown's Rating: 8.5/10 Green Tropics Fruit Smoothie SaBrown's Rating: 5.5/10 https://www.elephantandvine.com/about 719 Church St Evanston, IL 60201

Yelp
The place was packed on a Saturday evening which was nice. We had the burger and the "meatloaf" here with a couple of their cocktails. Both dishes were so good, especially the meatloaf!Even if you aren't vegan, you should give this place a try.

Caty W.

Yelp
Great place for meatless options. I went here with the intention of not eating meat, so there were a lot of wonderful veggie options. I was surprised at the varieties of food offered. The service was very nice and fast, and the food was good. The portion is a good size, although not particularly filling. To be honest, I do not really understand the name of the item I got (Thai Crunch), since I did not really feel like the bowl was Thai inspired. However, it was very good and I really liked the dressing. The inside of the restaurant was also very clean and they have recycling (sustainability!). Nice addition to Evanston.

David S.

Yelp
Solid vegan burgers, always a win! The little one will drag us there for the vegan shakes alone. Don't miss the fun fountain drink flavors!

PJ S.

Yelp
Ordered for carryout for the first time and quite delicious - "chicken" sandwiches were both crispy and tasty. The Portohouse wrap was fine, kind of wet and overly sweet but nice textural contrast with the crispy onions. Regular fries travelled well - still crispy, sweet potatoes fries were soggy. Lemonade was refreshing and not too sweet. Would order again!

Khadijah H.

Yelp
Definitely a must try restaurant! I randomly saw this restaurant listed as an option on Uber eats. I'd never seen it before and when I googled it, I saw it was near me so I decided to take a quick trip. It's cute and quaint - right in downtown evanston for the Northwestern students. I went it and right off the bat I felt the plant base vibe. Ya know the "plants-everywhere- hippie music" vibe.... My type of place! The staff are welcoming and cheerful (all young college students). I ordered the BBQ Burger, mango chili cauliflower bites and a strawberry shake. My friend got a bowl and an Oreo shake. The burger - definitely uses impossible meat. I'm not a huge fan of the brand impossible. If it's used by restaurants I like for them to add additional seasoning to it. One plus is that all options can be turned into gluten free for those who need that or want to try. I also wanted more bbq sauce and crispy onions. The bites- I didn't expect a semi dry rub. I would have preferred it to be saucy. The crust was crispy and so was the actual cauliflower. I guess I'm used to the other cauliflower bites from other places being deep fried or cooked too long because it comes out tender. These didn't melt in my mouth the way I would've wanted. The shake is super thick and delicious. Get it! The bowl - it was lacking in flavor. Definitely gave off sweet green vibes. So if it's healthy you're looking for and not seasoning, flavor or salt, this is for you. I definitely would return to try their chicken sandwich or one of their wraps.

Greg S.

Yelp
Exellent food. A little pricey, but theres no question about the taste. I've had the hot chicken, burgers, and Korean bbq sandwiches. All excellent. Would be nice if they had a lil more variety for sides. E.g.Greens?

Kimberly C.

Yelp
Food was really good! just what I wanted at that moment! I had Thai crunch salad and buffalo cauliflower wings. Both were tasty!

Erika M.

Yelp
The food was immaculate!! I wish they had one of these in my area in Florida!! Went back twice after this. That's how good it was. Vegan or not- you'll love it!

Monica W.

Yelp
Stumbled upon this restaurant and it was a great find! As a carnivore, I did not feel like anything was missing from this meal. Great burger and great float. My friend really enjoyed the BBQ chicken.

Dakota R.

Yelp
Food was amazing. Service was superior. Jamyla was the best. The plants and atmosphere was also quite nice! Coming back soon!

Mark D.

Yelp
This is a decent plant-based fast food restaurant. We enjoyed all of our food. None of it quite jumped off the page, but it all felt above average and above board. Even the fries tasted better than expected, even though they're the more typical thin style of fries. The inside is nice to dine in, though it's on the loud side. The sidewalk patio is available if you prefer to look at the street and be humid. ;-) I would come back to Evanston if it meant coming here. (Not that Evanston is a bad thing. It kind of sounded like that. Maybe I'll quit while I'm behind!)

Linda R.

Yelp
Yay, a vegetarian restaurant! Definitely not bad but also not outstanding. The menu choices are rather usual, nothing particularly innovative. Most of the food tastes were also rather usual, nothing to write home about. Like most places, seems like there's a staffing shortage which makes me feel bad for the hard work of restaurants. It's spacious and there's an adequate dining patio. Street parking.

Em C.

Yelp
Have visited a few more times since my initial review and can't help but feel like place has started to lose its touch slightly. The quality of wraps and bowls has slightly diminished and place is starting to feel more and more like a fast food option as opposed to a sit down. Still solid enough for a fast food vegan option.

Robert B.

Yelp
Clean, the food (vegan burgers) delicious. My wife had black bean (California) and I had incredible burger. Coming back.

Lexi J.

Yelp
Really good place! We're all open to eating plant based, this fast casual joint is for you. The wrap was incredible (Porto house) my friend had the zero clucks (hehe) and she loved it. I'm not a fan of their cauliflower wings but I loved the wrap! Kids meals and diary free smoothies are available. Coming as someone who's unfamiliar with the area parking can be complex. Watch out for meters there are tons of great murals along that area as well!

Janquel J.

Yelp
Who needs meat when you can eat at places like Elephant and Vine? Eating plant based seems pretty easy when the food is this good! My wife and I stopped by for lunch and everything we had was delicious! We also loved the open yet cozy look and feel of the restaurant. What we ordered: Portohouse Melt sub Buffalo bowl with hand breaded Buffalo cauliflower Regular Fries & Sweet potato fries Lemonade with tumeric The portohouse melt was probably the best wrap I've ever had and I highly recommend giving it a try.

Mike P.

Yelp
Missing Stand Up Burger Non-Dairy Shake? Try Here In the plant-based world, a good vanilla shake is hard to find. With Stand Up Burger closing we were lost. But the Elephant found us. Great vanilla plant based shake. We really enjoyed the Ele Burger. The SoCal wrap wasn't our favorite but that's okay. This place was clean, friendly, and offers a full menu of options

Hannah Y.

Yelp
I'm so glad Evanston has a good plant-based restaurant now! My must-order here are the crispy brussels with gochujang -- it's a substantial side that could honestly be a full meal if you're not hungry enough to finish a bowl/wrap. The first time I came here, I ordered one wrap and got another. Dined: May 13, 2022

CP B.

Yelp
Excellent lunch albeit pricey. Great service and very clean. Buffalo cauliflower rice bowl was outstanding.

Essence T.

Yelp
1st time trying here. Customer service was good, food came out in a timely matter. I ordered the cauliflower wings with fries. Man oh man it was soooo fresh. I've had other vegan restaurants and I can tell the quality difference. Also it's not over priced like most vegan restaurants. 10 stars

R. W.

Yelp
I'm not a vegan, nor a vegetarian, but I enjoy delicious food and if it's plant-based, great, I enjoy a meatless meal now and then. I wish Elephant and Vine would make the nutritional data available for their menu items. As someone who needs to watch calories and sodium intake this would be extremely helpful. I'd love to eat there more often but I don't feel like I can until I know more of these data.

Courtney C.

Yelp
A lovely representation of what vegan food can and should look like. This would be a wonderful spot to take non vegans or someone newly converting because the food has a familiarity to it but is still incredible. I love the Porto house melt, steak burrito, Thai crunch salad, and Ella burger. Don't forget to get their sweet potato fries and a shake!

Gerry G.

Yelp
I wanted to like this place but it was really, really nasty. Extra star for being a vegetarian place, but soggy cauliflower "wings," and nasty sandwich. It's like bad vegetarian junk food with way too much sauce.

Sally G.

Yelp
Great food, especially the spicy chicken sandwiches and sweet potato fries. I was particularly impressed by the lovely juices and tea choices next to the traditional soda flavors from which you get to choose when ordering meal packages. These packages come with fries and a large drink with infinite refills when you eat indoors. I've been eating vegan for a while now so I'm used to paying more for plant-based food. If we all became adopters, in addition to helping the planet, I hope the prices may eventually come down a bit. Fingers crossed on that for now... The managers here are incredibly kind and approachable. If you've never eaten food like this, they'll talk you through it.

R C.

Yelp
Elephant and Vine is our go-to, consistently great place for burgers and amazing bowls. They travel well for take out, don't taste 'fake, and are quite filling. Have eaten from here a couple dozen times and it's always been a great experience.

thomas M.

Yelp
I had a terrible experience! They canceled my order and was not offered a refund. They did not offer any additional support. They was my second time trying them first time food was very cold and under cooked! If you decided order from them double check everything!

Jon A.

Yelp
Tasty plant-based fare, with pleasant outdoor seating on the sidewalk in front of the restaurant. (We visited for lunch in June 2022). The SoCal wrap with spicy cauliflower was a winner, as were the smoothies and bowls. The vanilla shake was a bit too sweet for me, but other flavors may have been a better choice.

Briahna S.

Yelp
Amazing experience! First and now lifetime customer!! Loved the vibe of the restaurant. It was super clean and had serene greenery (plants) throughout the restaurant. Employees were friendly, personable, and professional! They were truly patient and helpful to two excited and indecisive people (hubby and I) in deciding what we'd order. for my hubby and I in deciding what we wanted to order! They have so many options to choose from - from super healthy to sweet desserts! They have a location in Elmhurst and Lincoln Park. We visited the one in Elmhurst and can't wait to go back! Indeed feeling beautiful

Ashleigh J.

Yelp
For anyone looking for great vegan options I recommend giving Elephant and Vine a try. I tried the Porto Melt, sweet potato fries and the Oreo shake which was recommended. I enjoyed everything. There is paid street parking available but based on location of restaurant it may take you a few to find a open street park just because it's a busy area!

Anna T.

Yelp
Great spot! Got the Caesar salad with chicken and it was amazing! The "chicken" tasted so yummy! The bbq cauliflower bites are also a must have!! Will for sure be going back as the new location in Lincoln park just opened!!

Ambi N.

Yelp
The place is new, so it's very clean and fresh. I wasn't gobsmacked by the menu options but it was okay. Got Buffalo Cauliflower Bowl- not super spicy. Discovered Rice was pretty undercooked by the time I got it home. I'd go back if I had to, but don't think I'll find myself ever craving it.

Jack S.

Yelp
Placed a delivery order for a bowl with Buffalo chicken style cauliflower, rice, and greens. Really enjoyed the food. Fresh, tasty, and just what I was in the mood for. No clue how the physical restaurant is, but the food was delicious.

子欣

Yelp
Delivery was pretty fast and convenient. The food was as expected. May try other items on their menu in the future.

Mark W.

Yelp
The food was very good, huge serving and healthy. It tasted better than I expected and the servers were very friendly. They had lots of takeout business when I was there. Limited seating, fast casual format. Try it out, even if you arent vegan!
