From appetizers to desserts, this restaurant exceeded all our expectations! Mr. Elis, the owner is very accommodating. I love the ceviche we had for appetizer and lobster black inked fettuccine for an entree. I highly recommend this place.

First time there with friends and absolutely loved the atmosphere! The service was great. They have live music 2 times/month and was excellent! They encouraged ppl to dance and we had a blast! Food was mediocre though and didn’t live up to my expectations. I will come back next time for drink and appetizers only

My wife and I hosted our small wedding reception (for about 70 people) at Elis Wine Bar, and we could not have been happier. Our experience here was so-so. It has a lot of charm and the service was overall just fine, but sadly the food left a bit to be desired. Fries with my burger were soggy, and my date’s Bolognese was one of the most bland dishes I think I have ever been served in NYC. The drinks were just okay too, nothing to write home about. The appetizers were good. Beet salad and a side of brussel sprouts. Maybe we came at an off time, we probably won’t come back but you never know. Also one note, these prices are curiously high! There was a glass of wine on the menu that was $22, and we googled the wine and it was $37 a bottle? We eat out enough to know if you’re charging $22 a glass that better be a $60-$70 bottle retail! C’mon you’re only supposed to rip us off a little bit when it comes to drink prices 😉

We came by with some friends who live in the neighborhood and the manager was incredibly kind, generous, and attentive to our toddler. The food was great and the service exceeded expectations. The crispy artichokes and tagliatelle bolognese were fantastic. Great atmosphere and menu, we will definitely be back!!

Great atmosphere, and Eli, the owner and a very friendly guy, does everything right when it comes to taking care of his customers. I stopped by here for several glasses of wine and a plate of shrimp mango ceviche, which was quite balanced between the citrus and sweet notes. The atmosphere inside is very cozy. We will be returning another night when one of our favorite bands stops by here to play some music.

Such a fun place and the food and drinks are amazing! We have visited MANY times and never disappointed! Brussels sprouts are a must! Pappardelle is my absolute favorite. Elis and Arthur are the best hosts. Great date night spot, drink spot, large groups too - always fun!

I love the vibe of this place. It's moody and the staffs are all very professional. I ordered a mixed drink VIP and it tasted great. They also have really good food. I wish the music is less loud so I can have better conversations with my friends. But this is still definitely worth a visit!

Great happy hour deal running 4-6pm, even on weekends. Great casual hangout spot near columbia and in the Upper west side. Great place to hang out and have a conversation with friends over food/HH They serve a glass of white, red, craft beer, or cocktail of the day for $8 during HH. I opted for the cocktail of the day, which was a gin and tonic on the Sunday afternoon that I visited. My friend opted for the Super Tuscan (red wine). Generous pours. Drinks were fantastically made. For food, there were a couple of options, but what got our attention was the $1 oysters (which is getting harder to find in manhattan) and the Bruschetta. Oysters were super tasty, plump, fat, and briny - exactly what you'd expect for a great happy hour deals. Bruschetta was well toasted and the tomatos gave it a tangy, zesty taste to it. Service was quick, prompt, and attentive. Would definitely come by again to try out their happy hour again!

Stumbled upon this place when searching for a Happy Hour. So glad we came! $1 oysters!! Yummy Bruschetta, fun cheese board, and good drinks! Truffle parm fries were flavorful too. Staff is attentive. Prices during HH are enticing. Would come again :)

This small restaurant, that is run by 2 friends who grew up in Italy, is a GEM! The menu is not huge but is very diverse. It's not just a "red sauce" kind of place. We have been 3 times and each time was outstanding! We have had the tagliatelle with bolognese, the scallops, the ravioli (in a brown butter sage sauce) and the Branzino. It feels like a small osteria in Italy-- ask your server (usually one of the 2 owners) what they suggest and take their word for it! I honestly give them 5 for food, service and ambiance.

We discovered this place from Yelp and had a great experience. We arrived for happy hour and found comfortable seating for a large party of 6. The happy hour menu was great value tasty. The Tuscan red wine on the happy hour menu was . The two friends who own the place were hands on and they along with staff ensured excellent service. Will definitely go back their the next time we visit morningside heights.

It's been over a year since my last visit here. I'm from the West Coast. So, I was pleasantly surprised when Elis welcomed me with a smiling face remembering the one time I came in with my good friend Dave after we packed up his stuff and drove him from one coast to the next. On a Friday night, it was bustling but not crowded. Bar seating was filled with groups of friends, single ladies, and the tables filled with friends or couples on a romantic yet energetic evening. I sat at the bar alone and soaked in the ambience. As the upbeat yet mellow tempo-ed bar music played in the background, old Charlie Chaplin films projected on the screen. Laughter, warmth, and some deep conversations filled the air. It was a nice break from the winter chill outside. People were happy and having a good time, enjoying drinks and the delicately curated menu of foods. I drooled as the tower of seafood in the pretty tiered copper serving trays entered the scene. Alas, my party of one would not be able to finish such a delectable tower of goodness after all the food I had just eaten. My hungry self craved protein, so I opted for the beef tartare this night. It was different from what I'm used to, but still hearty, lean, and fresh like the men I crave (j/k). Instead of chopped, it was ground, and had more of a pâté texture. It had a slight tang, and me being a salt fiend could have used a sprinkle. (Because, I'm a salty b*tch.) It came with country Dijon, tomatoes, and three toasted pieces of bread drizzled in rich olive oil. I enjoyed every last bite. I was still hungry so opted for carbs and ordered the homemade fries doused in truffle oil and Parmesan. Note to everyone, if you're used to crispy fries ask them to cook them crispy. They cook these on the soft side to remind you of the motherland, hence "homemade fries". I've only ever eaten American fries, so Artur had the cook recook these asap for me and crisped them to my liking. High maintenance much? Well, he still dealt with this salty b*tch. And for that I appreciate this place even more. All in all, another wonderful night in New York. I'll come back again on my next visit since it feels like a home I'd never want to leave. Give this place some love for me. Because it's too far away for me, and honestly long distance relationships can never be supportive enough.

I moved into the neighborhood so have been trying out local joints. What intrigued me was the menu which I viewed online before arriving. Atmosphere: It is a elegant but casual experience. Mood lighting, faux plants, and a large bar seating area in the middle. Does appear reservations are still old school and written down with pen and paper. I went on a Wednesday around 8:30pm and it was pretty quiet but unsure how a weekend night may look. Food: I had the tuna tartare and the ricotta ravioli both which were perfect and on a price point. The tuna was elegant, clean, and the crostini was perfectly toasted and warm making the dish experience wonderful. The ravioli was a simple but well done dish and filled the soul. I will certainly be back to try more things off the menu. Wine: It's a decent selection but nothing too crazy. I only had a resling which is my personal favorite. Attempted the Sancerre but the flavor was very off. Thankfully the kind bartender had no issues just replacing it with a resling. .

Excellent establishment. Food 10/10. Service 10/10. Ambience 10/10. This place is run by extremely kind people. Last time I went, I had left a piece of artwork there by mistake. I came back a week later, and it turns out they had found it and were safekeeping it for me! Very thoughtful and honest people

We LOVED it here!! Great happy hour deals that we took advantage of and amazing service. Sat outside with our dog and enjoyed glasses of wine, oysters, calamari, bruschetta, and three different kinds of pasta. Boyfriend was over the mooooon for the squid ink linguine! The owners came over and introduced themselves and treated us to dessert! Thankfully we live only a block away sooo this will be a regular stop for us.

This place is so great. Amazing happy hour. The lamb sliders are one of the best things I've eaten in nyc. Great artichokes, carrots, and Brussels too. And the guys who own the place are super nice. A+

The happy hour is such a great deal from 4-6 pm everyday! I had the $8 Pinot Grigio and super Tuscan and both wines were so good! Also $1 oysters!!! We ordered food from the HH menu and got the tomato bruschetta and it was simple but delicious. The baby artichokes in the sauce were good as well as the friend calamari. The outdoor dining space is so cute the the restaurant gives very European vibes. Would love to come back again!

This was the worst Happy Hour for a too-expensive price that I have tasted in a long time in New York. Oysters were so mediocre and not fresh and the Charcuterie platter was the worst I have seen for a ridiculous $21 price on Happy Hour. It was 2 cubes of cheese with 2 tiny pieces of bread, and a slab of salami and other meat that we couldn't eat. Not worth the platter it was served on! Total price @$60 for mediocrity. Stay away from this place, also with no air conditioning!

What a great atmosphere super attentive and friendly service this is the first time we were here and we were lucky enough to be served by the owners they were so nice they made us feel right at home ! The food was crazy amazing I had the scallops and I would definitely get them again ! The tables were very spread apart and there is both indoor and outdoor seating with some plexiglass where needed. This will definitely be a go to spot in the neighborhood and if you don't live in the neighborhood it is worth the trip ... although there were groups of 2 and 4 it has a very intimate feel if you want to make it a date spot but also really amazing for friends to have some wine and chill .... don't miss out it's a keeper in my book !!

As soon as I walked into Elis Wine Bar last night, I knew it would be a lovely evening. Aside from the restaurant being aesthetically beautiful, the vibe was very energetic and happy - everyone was eating, laughing, drinking good wine and thoroughly enjoying themselves. The service was extremely hospitable and kind, Artur and Elis (the owners) truly went above and beyond to make my first time at their restaurant very special! I am a seafood lover and Artur made the best food recommendations based on my palate. We started with the oysters and Artur delicately and skillfully prepared and seasoned it for me at table side! I also tried the ceviche and it melted like butter in my mouth lol, it was so delicious! For the entree Artur recommended the Branzino and it was prepared and seasoned to perfection! For wine we had a bottle (or 2, lol) of red, the L'Atto Cantine del Notaio which was excellent! I'm a red wine lover and i never follow the rules when it comes to food pairings lol. Elis was kind enough to make sure that my wine glass was refilled when the wine was running low lol. I will certainly return soon, I am already craving the oysters, the food and the attention! This is more than a restaurant -- its an experience. My husband and I stumbled across Eli's one cold, drab winter night, and stopped in for a drink. The atmosphere was warm, energetic, and fun. The staff was friendly, efficient and accommodating. We enjoyed ourselves so much, we decided to return to have dinner and listen to a band. We brought two friends with us and had one of the most fun nights I can remember in NYC. Same great ambiance and the food was amazing. The band rocked, and patrons and staff joined in impromptu dancing. I didn't want the night to end. Highly recommended for the quality of the food and the fun atmosphere.

Beautiful bar with wonderful food and an engaging and friendly staff. I visited twice in the past week after being introduced by a few coworkers. They couldn't stop gushing about Elis', and now I see why! This is definitely going to become on a my favorite neighborhood spots!

I had the brisket burger. It was really good. Somewhere between a divine mom Sunday cook and a classic burger. Calamaris are good. Happy hour until 6pm includes food. This is a nice place, casual and relaxing.

This place is a gem! Great atmosphere, excellent food, wonderful staff. Every course was better than the last!

Great service and incredible food. Owner is super friendly and comped our one dish that they were a bit late on, but we certainly didn't expect that and it was very generous. They make their own bread fresh every day and it's mind-blowing. The bruschetta with their house bread is a must-do, especially the wild mushroom and the tamponade. Cocktails were delicious as well.

What a refreshing place! Service and food were both fantastic. The mushroom pie was a unique take on a "pie" and more of a roll up, but absolutely delicious. The wine was very good, albeit just a tad warm. The ambience and the service just really shine here. The food runner, servers and all the staff were very polite and attentive and Elis made us feel more than welcome. Looking forward to returning.

Great food, awful service. Very slow and messed up order a little bit but my lamb chops were delicious. The roasted potatoes and veggies were perfection. Loved the wild mushroom sauce as well.

New and charming little Gem A very special dining experience. The food was Amazing and a killer wine list. A huge front bar that keep the mood convivial. And the privacy of the large tables makes it a perfect place for a date night. Their ambiance and the impeccable service elevate Mediterranean food to a whole new level. Love Love Love the decor and the vibe of this place and also the mushroom pie is to die for. Almost forgot the Caesar salad... best in town. For main course we had a tuna and steak both cook to perfection. Will definitely go back. Highly recommended!

I've been coming to this place for almost two years and still choose it as my go to in the upper west - Can't recommend it enough. All dishes are so tasty, food quality is great and fresh - When you visit, don't miss the tuna tartare, seafood tower, and the parpadelle pasta. Their tiramisu is my favorite in the UWS. Ambiance is great - Low music, crowd is chill yet fun and friendly, and the owners always make us all feel very very welcomed. Make sure you try the Goodnight Kiss cocktail before you leave for a sweet boozy kick :)

Can't rate this place highly enough. The menu is awesome, the staff lovely and the atmosphere great. My neighborhood go-to but worth the trip if you're from out of the neighborhood.

Nice cozy interior, with each table having just enough space. A little too noisy with the music, and I'd personally appreciate a few more lights. Crab cake - Really good. Comes with chipotle aioli and an arugula tomato salad on the side. The crab meat is pretty good, though not as chunky as I would've hoped. Portion size is just right. Scallops - F***ing delicious. Comes with sauteed mushrooms in a balsamic glaze, and every bite just melts. 5 pieces total; three of them regular size, two of them jumbo size. Scallops were cooked perfectly. Very simple in design, yet the flavor hits hard.

Elis hosted our wedding lunch last year, and he made it one of the most special days of our lives. Not only is the food and drink top-notch, but also the service is nonpareil. I can't recommend this place enough--a unique restaurant where art and food and drink are married. The best!

I would give this place more stars except for the fact that there is a supremely annoying deal killer for me at Eli's. The food is generally good or very good to excellent. I have never had problems with the service. The one miss on the food was the French fries that were limp and soggy. This surprised me greatly. The pasta with a Bolognese sauce was good . A solid effort. The filet mignon was very good to excellent as were the lamb chops. The Bronzino was ok but not overwhelming. So what do I REALLY dislike about Eli's ? It is dark as hell. It is a supreme insult to its talented chefs to serve food in the dark. One cannot begin to appreciate a dish that one can barely see. When the light on the tables under an awning on the street have better lighting at 9:00 pm than the tables inside there is a problem for me. If the proprietors equate being dark with being "romantic" they are nuts. So I might have to wait for summer months again to eat there so I can see what I'm eating. This is a shame because the food is generally good to excellent .

HUGE fan. I feel like this place should blow up but I selfishly don't want it to. I love everything about Eli's. Amazing wine (read: Lambrusco by the glass!) delicious food - you can do all apps or mains or both - all good, really attentive and nice staff, and it's so pretty. Big plus is that we've gone for date nights and also with the whole family - they are so great with kids and help make sure everyone is happy and comfortable. I would come here every day if I could!

Great atmosphere. Feels like a downtown wine bar. Staff is friendly and attentive, and the bar is decorated nicely. There is plenty of outdoor and indoor seating. We only came here for drinks and both the Chianti and rose were good. They have a good range of wines in each category with various price points too, so you will have plenty of options.

This place was awesome! Great atmosphere and food. We had the mixed board, branzino, and parpedalle. I want to specifically call out the mixed board since it seems like they've revamped it after the review below. It's much better now and cost $28 or $20 during happy hour. It came with premium meats, fresh bread, parmesan, and olives. Please don't hesitate to come here for wine and a lovely charcuterie!

Fab place on the upper west side! The number and variety of wines is insane. If you love wine and cheese like I do then this is your place. I've been here a couple of times already. Great local spot. If you're not in the mood for salty with your wine then go for the chocolate dessert! YUM! that and a glass of red - Hello Happiness! The shishito pepper dish is amaaaazing but be warned it is a game of Russian roulette I always seem to land the spicy one! ‍ Love the decor and open front - bring on summer afternoons for sitting on their terrace Service is warm and friendly and welcoming!

This place is pretty good, although I'm confused by the constant name changes (Infamous Chicken, Infamous Bistro, now Eli's Wine Bar). Pretty good happy hour deals - including food options. The first time I had the Brussels sprouts here, in an earlier incarnation, they were eye opening - and they're still pretty good. The Calamari is also a stand-out, as far as I'm concerned. All in all, a good casual and relaxed option for the neighborhood, perfect for after-work socializing, which this neighborhood could certainly use. Hope they stick around!

The bar is absolutely spectacular and it has amazing service. The food is delicious and I can't begin to describe how good the drinks taste.

hosted a small (9 guests) celebratory dinner on a rainy sunday evening. everything was perfect! from the table placement + setting, food, the service, the ambiance. each guest shared compliments about every aspect of the dinner and the choice of restaurants. Elis was intuitive on every need and suggestions and offerings were superb! highly recommended.
