Elite Restaurant Review - Monterey Park - Los Angeles - The Infatuation

"The San Gabriel Valley’s endless stock of dim sum restaurants can be overwhelming, but Elite is one of the best and most consistent you’ll find. This massive space doesn’t have the traditional food carts whizzing by - all ordering is done from a chit sheet at your table. There are nearly 100 different things on the menu, but we recommend concentrating on the golden cream bun, crispy shrimp rice noodle, steamed taro cake, pork shu mai, and BBQ pork pastry. Warning: crowds get hellacious on the weekends." - Brant Cox

Google
Post covid and the quality is still as good as ever although their famous roast pork was slightly salty and not as soft as before. But otherwise, all their other dim sum dishes were delicious as usual

Google
Food tastes good. However service is not really beyond my expectation. They don't allow you to get seated until everyone has arrived. Hours of operation are not effective for a Dim sum... Should be open from 7.30AM and close earlier. Waiters(resses) don't say excuse me when they stand too close to you or their dresses already cover half of my head.

Google
We really wanted to have some good dim sum when we are in LA. After some researching and also because of distance, we decided this restaurant. The photos looked really good, even though it only has a 3.5 star in Yelp. I still decided to try because sometimes a 3.5 star restaurant could turn out to be a hidden gem. Well, not this one. I would say I can understand why it is a 3.5 star. I would want to give it the same rating if I could. The shrimp dumplings and XO sauce radish cake were the only good ones. The oven baked pork buns had some weird stuffing, almost tasted like pork curry. The pork ribs and sumai were massive and very mediocre. I do not recommend this place unless you love nearby and really need a dim sum fix.

Google
Quality of the food was pleasantly surprisingly very good! Kinda pricey but the taste is solid. The luo bo gao is steamed instead of pan fried! Egg tart is kinda runny. The shu mai were also very good, and I don't even like shu mai.

Tech Girl

Google
Limited selection Dim Sum. Had the usual items like har gow, siu mai, lo mai gai, cha siu bao, chicken feet, taro cake, shao long bao, etc. Chicken feet was flavorful and made well. The har gow and siu mai were good too. Cha siu bao was too sweet and didn't taste like cha siu. Meat was not identifiable. Shao long bao was pretty good. Juicy in the middle. The fried pork mochi ball was sweet. The shrimp in rice sheet roll was OK. I didn't like the texture. Too mushy for me. Service was pretty good. The food came out fast and they refilled the water in the tea pot when requested. All the service folks helped all the tables so no waiting on one server for extra napkins or plastic utensils. Getting the bill and having them charge for the meal was fast too. Parking was not an issue.

Google
Elite restaurant was amazing! Get the pork Shui-mai and crystal shrimp har gow. Skip the fried taro but definitely get the sweet egg buns. Six dishes and tea for $28 with tax. No wait at all at 2:00 pm. Amazing staff. Easy menu with pictures and multiple languages.

Google
Best dim sum in the city. The items that use their pastry -- like the egg tarts and the honey BBQ pork triangles -- are so good and fresh. The pastry is PERFECTION. Not a place with the traditional carts, but a menu you order from at the beginning. A little less showy, but it means each dish is entirely fresh when it comes out, which is wonderful.

Danny S

Google
Pretty standard dim sum. It was tasty and not too pricy. Most of the waiters understood english.

Yelp
My bill was $70 and I gave them a 15% tip. Apparently that wasn't good enough because I got chased down by the boss who asked me if everything was ok. Everything was great which is why I left a tip. A tip is customary and should not be forced- let alone a decent tip. The confrontation was was unnecessary and left a sour taste in my mouth.

Yelp
It was so much better last time. Their menu has changed a bit, and they lost those to-die-for turnip cakes. Still, all my favorites are there: Shrimp Hargow, fluffy Chashu Bao, crispy Shrimp Rice Noodle, to name a few. We tried a few more dishes as well, like those perfect stir-fried Pea Shoots, and a saucy Roasted Duck with perfect, crispy skin. The Spicy Pork Ear is a cold dish with a mouth-watering sweet chili sauce. The reason for the low rating is the service this time around. I know Chinese restaurants aren't known for stellar service, but the juicy dumplings came out with wrappers so desiccated the surface had started to crack and the filling tasted sour like they had clearly been frozen for too long. My father called the server to tell him, and he was incredibly rude. He yelled at my father, an older, gray-haired man who hadn't so much as frowned at him that he would still have to pay despite my father never saying anything about money. The manager walked over to investigate the commotion, stared at us blankly, and walked away while the server continued to yell. Honestly, I don't think I'll ever come to Elite again even though the food is amazing. I'd rather starve than support a restaurant staffed by Chinese people who are this rude to their elders.

Yelp
Really enjoyed our meal here. Not the best dim sum I've ever had but it was the best dim sum we've had in California so far. Food came out in a prompt and timely manner. The congee was a nice consistency, had great chicken flavor and was seasoned nicely. The shrimp dumplings were good. The black bean spareribs were good and thankfully didn't have that bad pork taste that some places have. The cilantro steamed rice rolls were good. Fried taro cake (dumpling) were yummy. Really can't go wrong with those. The elite baked bbq pork buns were delicious. Loved that sweet syrup baked onto the outside. The elite baked chicken buns were like a pineapple bun with a saucy savory chicken filling. Yummy. Definitely wanting to try other dim sum places in the area still but I would come back here.

Yelp
Great place for dim sum, surprised we didn't encounter a massive line which I thought we might expect, maybe we just passed the rush hour time. They serve a lot of the classic dim sum I know and love. Their malay spong cake though was not great. I would skip that. The taste was off and not the right kind of sweet/aroma I was expecting. Rest were pretty good in quality and heatness and I would still come here but I'd prob prefer to go to Sea Harbor if both had the same wait times.

Yelp
Known for their superb dim sum and well-executed main dishes. Authentic Cantonese-style cuisine and some of the best BBQ pork buns in Monterey Park. Some of my personal favorite dim sum here include the following: BBQ pork buns, crystal shrimp har gow, pork shui mai, shrimp and vegetable dumpling, golden cream bun, Macau egg custard, spare ribs with chili and black bean sauce, chicken feet with special sauce, congee with pork and preserved egg, Shanghai-style steamed bun. Favorite main dishes include the following: honey walnut shrimp, braised string bean, Chinese broccoli with oyster sauce, sauteed fillet with black bean sauce and pepper, pea shoots with minced garlic, baked pork chop with salt and pepper, fried squid with salt and pepper, beef with preserved vegetable, seafood pan-fried chow mein. High-end dim sum restaurant with a good mix of traditional and more modern choices like scallop dumplings and shrimp and asparagus rice rolls and other unique offerings. Usually makes the "Top 4 Dim Sum in LA" list of most venerable food writers and news publications every year. I like Elite because of the high quality of its dim sum (4.5 stars) and for being more fair priced, compared to the other dim sum restaurants that also generally make the list.

Yelp
No more cart! This is a post pandemic dim sum style now! You order and they serve them. I was not expecting as much for this place since Yelp says 3 1/2 stars. They have good food! Though I may say some of their dishes are a little pricey. As a foodie person, price doesn't matter as long as it's good. It was just an eye catching when I paid my check, a bowl of congee with a little bit of pork and preserved egg was $32.99. I think that's a little too much. It was delicious but over price. The rest of what I ordered are pretty much reasonable. Congee with Pork & Preserved Egg: Really good! I like it's creaminess, made very clean, greaseless. It's yummy but pricey. Pork Shui-Mai: It is tasty! You can really taste the meat. The size is pretty generous. Crystal Shrimp Har-Gow: it's the best! They uses good size of shrimp. You can tell the freshness. Sticky Rice Lotus Leaf Wrap: i like the flavor and it's it's Juiciness. Very tasty. Chicken Feet with special sauce: it's cooked differently. They uses a different type of sauce and it is delectable. Scallop Dumpling: I hardly saw scallops in it. All I saw and tasted was shrimp cut in small cubes. Also, it tasted dry. Sesame Balls: it wasn't bad, but nothing special about it. Macau Egg Custard: thin crust, you can taste more custard. It melts in your mouth. Service is not bad. The place was very busy and they can still keep up with the customers. *** A must know: there is a cover charge per person. *** Other than that, it was a great experience and I enjoyed their food.

Yelp
First time coming out here for lunch (I'm usually an East SGV dimsum person), but came here with my party of 4 and ordered quite a bit of food. FOOD : 4 stars Compared to the many dim sum places I've been to, this place isn't one to push around carts full of stacked dim sum. You order from a paper menu/pencil and the food comes out in bunches. You'll notice that the quality of the food is much higher and fresher than the less pricey places where the dimsum seems mass produced and therefore not as fresh. All the food and presentation was quite fresh. DIMSUM: We ordered: Crispy Snow Bun / baked bbq bun / egg tarts / Sticky Rice Lotus Leaf Wrap / Pot Sticker / Crystal Shrimp Har Gow / Shrimp & Beef Rice Noodle / Golden Corn BBQ Rice Noodle / Scallop Dumpling + a side of stir fried garlic veggies (dau miu). Veggies were fresh and very delicious but SO much oil. SERVICE was so so. We went at noon and there was only one other large table plus a small table, but we had to ask for things like serving spoons, chilly/mustard, waters they forgot. CIGARETTE SMOKE SITUATION: minus 2 stars -_- Lastly, the big issue I had with this place is that during our meal, the staff left not only the kitchen door into the dining room open, but also the door to the back which meant that the whole time the draft of air and smoke just filled up the room and directly onto our table. BIG NO NO. FREE PARKING Parking is fairly easy in front of the restaurant when it's not busy. It's a small lot though.

Yelp
It's been a couple years since I've came back. The weird thing was right when covid hit was the last time I was here. I didn't really care much for the place at the time. Sooo let's talk about now, the food was absolutely delish. We ordered a wide variety of dim sum so make sure you come w a table of 4 or more so you can taste everything... what we ordered Pork shu Mai 5/5 Scallop turnip bake 5/5 Steam bbq pork buns 5/5 Elite BBQ pork bun 5/5 Duck 5/5 flavor excellent but small portion Crispy roasted pork 5/5 also delish small portion Pan fried turnip cake 5/5 Deep fried stuffed meat dumpling 5/5 Gailan with oyster sauce 5/5 Overall if I go back I would omit the GAILAN (way over priced $17) DUCK (small portion) CRISPY ROASTED PORK (small portion)

Yelp
The 1 star is for the food, and 0 stars for service. We came here around 11 am, and there were about 5 parties ahead of us. We were seated after waiting 30 mins. When we got to the table, the restaurant was not checking vaccine cards and our seats were inches away from other tables. I asked if we can move our tables away or be seated in a corner instead, and the server walked away from us. I didn't want to cause a commotion so I moved the table slightly away from the others, even though it still felt too close for comfort. We put in our order and the dishes came fairly quickly. When we asked the server for mustard and hot sauce, she literally waved her finger and told me "later". The server never came back, and we had to ask 2 other servers before we actually got the sauces. We did not receive a single refill on our water, and when we got the check I noticed that they had charged us for tea. When I asked a server to take off the tea since we never ordered or received the tea, he mentioned that everyone gets charged for tea even if you don't want it, even if you didn't get it. He walked away with my card without further explanation and charged me for my meal + the tea that I never ordered or got. I wish I could talk about the food here because it's pretty good, but the staff and service is so GOD AWFUL that it really doesn't matter at this point. I understand service is not top priority at joints such as this one, but Fast Food restaurants have better service than this. Also, they are not following COVID protocols at all - beware!

Yelp
Best dim sum IMO because the har gows, dumplings, are bigger in size in comparison to other dim sum restaurants and they are more savory in comparison. My favorite dish is probably the chinese donut rice rolls here because they stuff it with shrimp paste! No one else does it like they do and I will die for this dish. Please reopen soon so I can enjoy proper dim sum again.

Yelp
Absolutely gross. Don't waste your time coming here. Everything was horrible, from the free Jasmine tea to vritually every dim sum I tried here. Lets start with the Jasmine tea. I was hoping for crisp, refreshing floral tea, as Jasmine usually tastes like. Instead it tasted like dirty dregs. The dim sum just plain old sucked. The least terrible one was the shumai with pork and shrimp (it was edible). It was a very chunky dim sum and I could discern the taste of shrimp and pork...but only slightly. The worst one was the beef ribs. Absolutely disgusting... it makes you feel like you're chewing on pure fat like an animal. My favorite part of the meal was the pea shoots as they were cooked al dente and the garlic sauce on them was decent. The bbq pork buns were terrible (cold, sweet goey center with no meat flavor). The potstickers were not crispy at all. They were dry and the ground chicken or pork inside tasted just like a salty gooey center (no richness of the flavor). Overall I rather buy dim sum from the frozen isle at Trader's Joes than come back here. I felt kind of sick after.

Yelp
Not my favorite dim sum restaurant, but I have to say that this place is very popular as I always see a line outside during weekend. Servers were not attentive and could be rude at times. Parking is small, and street parking is available. However, it could be difficult during weekend. The restaurant is small, but they are trying to put a lot of tables in. I felt a bit overcrowded when I was dining in. Dim sum tended to be over cooked that the skin of some of them were soggy. A lot of room for improvement.
google avatar

Ellen K.

Yelp
As you enter they talk to you in Chinese, eventhough you are not. They're very quick to order and doesn't smile. Everything here is pricier than the average price of dimsum. Not necessarily better. They charge an extra $1 for XO sauce. You order everything on a sheet of paper *like sushi. Not the traditional pushing the cart and choosing what you want. - BBQ Pork Buns 0.5/5 The flavor of the BBQ inside was not tasty, and had really little fillings. Not my favorite. Wouldn't get it again. - Crispy Shrimp Rice Noodle 3.5/5 The crispness was so unique I've never had something like this before! Very crunchy and the rice noodle is soft. Pretty good. - Shrimp Rice Noodle 1.5/5 Basic one piece Shrimp Rice Noodle. Wouldn't get again especially since i got the Crispy one. The server recommended the Crispy one but didn't take the regular one off.... - Bbq pork football mochi thing 5/5 I DONT KNOW WHAT THIS IS CALLED. It is the tastiest item here. They come deep fried and there's a tiny filling of bbq pork. It's like fried mochi and they cut it in half if you ask. It's SOOOO good!! - Crystal Shrimp Har Gow 3/5 The skin was a bit thicker than normal but the filling was quite tasty. The filling was delicious and juicy! - Steamed Turnip Cake 1.5/5 Tastes like basic turnip cake *eventhough it was my first time trying it*. Tastes like turnip mixed with something and they serve it with a bit of light soysauce on a spoon on top. - Shrimp Shumai 3/5 These were pretty good. They were very full and juicy.. Parking is free.. There better dimsum places elsewhere.

Yelp
It's been a long time since I last visited Elite for dim sum. I feel that there are other places that taste better, but I still enjoy coming here once in a while. I thought the waiter/host was kind of rude. He didn't want to answer any questions and pretty much show no hospitality here. I'm unsure if there is a menu with photos but that's what I prefer to have. It's just a sheet of paper and I used Yelp photos to see if I order the right one. I absolutely love their Dry Scallop with Egg White Fried Rice. It doesn't taste as good the next day so be sure to eat it when it's hot/fresh at the restaurant. Other dishes were average for me, but nothing to complain about. Parking was easy to find if you come at the right time.

Yelp
12/20/21 Elite Restaurant 700 S Atlantic Blvd Monterey Park, CA 91754 My sister and I went here for lunch based on a LA Times article, which highly recommended the Macau Roast Pork. It's a stand alone Cantonese restaurant on Atlantic with a parking lot. The dining room is very large and there were no Covid restrictions with regard to the closeness of the tables, SoCal thing? We ordered the Macau Roast Pork, Beef Chow Mein and Bean Curd Wrap w/ Supreme Soup. The Maitre D later came and told us they were out of the Pork, so we replaced it with the half Roasted Duck. The wrap, chow mein and duck were swiftly brought in that sequence. The wrap and soup were okay but not much flavor. The chow mein consisted of tender slices of beef with carrots and Chinese broccoli with gravy on a bed of crispy pan fried noodles. Excellent chow mein and the vegetables were really good. The duck was meaty with crispy skin and not much fat, I prefer more fat, with a good flavor and a slight Anise taste. Call ahead if they have the Roast Pork, it looks like a popular entree. A good Cantonese selection and a definite repeat, for the Pork.

Yelp
This is currently my favorite spot for dine-in dim sum. Everything I have had here since returning to indoor dining (after getting vaccinated) is fresh and delicious. I don't eat pork so cannot attest to any of the dishes that contain this ingredient. Their prices did go up and the menu is a bit from a couple of years ago so it makes me think they may be under new ownership. It is worth it though. My favorites are the Macau egg tart, Cantonese sponge cake, pea shoots with garlic, chicken feet and golden cream bun. The seafood chow mein (noodles made crispy) is very, very good as is the dried scallops with egg white fried rice. The service isn't your typical dim sum establishment. It's definitely more polite and polished. And I also read in the news somewhere that they now served dim sum even during dinner hours!

Yelp
used 2b 1 of our go-to spots 4 dimsum & seafood but recent past experiences have been mediocre @best, not 2 mention everything is onda pricier side lines r long during dimsum but we r VIPs here so we get special treatment & dont really have 2 wait; however, not sure f dimsum chefs have changed, as some of our fav items dont taste da same as b4 lotus leaf wrapped sticky rice has not been good past couple visits (dry); not enuf black bean sauce in spare ribs in chili & black beans; beef short ribs in black pepper sauce were super greasy; shanghai xlb was very bland & dry dimsum that were above par consist of pork shu-mai, chicken feet, steamed BBQ bun, steamed taro cake, golden corn BBQ pork rice noodle as 4 dinner, every time we visit, our bill (including tips) is beyond $1K, even after VIP discount emperor king crab is a must have (steamed & topped w minced ginger sauce) ~ they bring 2 ur table a live crab & u can shoot fotos/videos w da crab b4 they cook it; i have never not liked their emperor crab & that usually takes up 40-50% of our epic bill last time we ordered a $400 roast pig (need 2 reserve a day in advance) but it taste like crap so they knocked it off our bill when we addressed this issue 1 of our roomies tends 2 order peking duck wherever they serve it but he actually only likes da steamed buns that come w it (SMH) & we think its a rather un4gettable dish so skip it chicken in scallion sauce was good, as so fish head sizzling pot (new fav besides emperor crab) gotta rate dimsum a 2-star (food quality/taste/service), while seafood dinner a 4-star ~ thus they get 3-star overall
google avatar

Evelyn T.

Yelp
My favorite thing here is the Macau egg tarts. They are so flakey and good! Also a fan of the shrimp rice rolls and shu mai. The rolls are silky. The skin on the shrimp har gow was thicker than I like and not that good. Steamed turnip cake is okay. The enoki mushroom with abalone sauce on e-fu noodles was good. The golden cream bun was decent. The filling is oozy and tasty, however the filling was lukewarm when it came to our table. The bun and filling are suppose to be hot when you eat it. It's a small restaurant with a small parking lot. But there is plenty of street parking if you can't find a space.
google avatar

Jamiee W.

Yelp
Freshest best dim sum we have had in years This is not a cart dim sum but has a written and visual menu. The food was fresh and piping hot. The har gow used big pieces of pork which was amazing! The crispy pork belly is to die for!
google avatar

Karlie S.

Yelp
Out of all the dim sum restaurants in SGV, this is an okay place to come for dim sum. The food is about average and is less seasoned than other places. I would come here again for the rice rolls and traditional steamed turnip cakes, but would pass on others - thick dumpling skin etc. Beware they charge extra for chili sauces and mustard, which they do lost on their menu.
google avatar

Grace C.

Yelp
They are open for indoor dining now w temperature check before they seat you. They have main doors open but not sure how else they're ventilating but the guests were seated at least 6ft apart but it was 11:30am on a Friday so not sure how crowded it is on the weekends now. I just came for take out. Everything was good, but didn't care much for the Golden cream buns as I didn't care for the filling (egg yolk). I think the best item is the shu mai. Spare ribs Pork shrimp Shu mai Shrimp rice noodle Golden cream buns
google avatar

Yelp
The service is terrible but that's just standard. Lol you know what I mean if you're Asian. They are so mean. But that's besides the point the food is delicious. The chicken feet is so bomb here it's so full of flavor. The dim sum is super fresh and it comes out relatively quickly. Lo back go was the best dim sum we ordered in my opinion. Quick service good food. There's really nothing to complain about. I recommend this place.

Yelp
My go-to dim sum place, and still is. Drove from OC just to pick up this. Called in for takeout order with all my favorites: Shanghai dumplings, lotus leaf sticky rice, sesame balls, shrimp har gow, chicken feet, golden cream buns, and baked bbq pork buns. Order ready in 20min to be picked up and paid at the front table. Quick, easy, and yummy.

Yelp
They serve dimsum for lunch and has a number of authentic Chinese food. They have the best beef with broccoli I've ever had. The service was fast but one might feel rushed to leave at times when it's busy especially when the waiter keeps asking if you're done
google avatar

Daw M.

Yelp
They offer delivery through funtaun! Didn't know til I got there! Anyway I love the food. Always consistent even through covid. The price is not bad and. I do not mind helping out a local business when I can :) Overall: happy tummy with good food. Will definitely recommend it if you're in the area.

Yelp
Ever wonder why Elite no longer has a line? It's because they charge for everything. $2/person for tea $1 for hot sauce and hot mustard 18% automatic service charge But the staff was more attentive than usual. Was I having Dim Sum or Cheesecake Factory? The food comes out hot but the plates are pricey. Pea shoots with minced garlic $18.80 Honey Walnut Shrimp $18.80 Har Gow or Shu Mai: $6.68 I miss the days when I would pay $12/person for dim sum.. we are pushing $30 now with these new fees and inflation and now I'm questioning if it's even worth it.

Yelp
I was shopping next door at Dollar Tree and decided to come here for lunch since I noticed they have a Dim Sum to go. I checked the menu and noticed the prices were much more than other places I had tried. I can get a Shui-Mai somewhere else for $3 lesser. I decided to try the Minced Beef Rice Noodle since that's one of my favorite whenever I get dim sum and most reasonable price too. It's my first time here so I don't want to spend an arm and a leg for an item that may taste horrible for just 3 pieces. It took them 20 minutes to give me my order. If you decide to try the food here, it's best to phone in the order in advance. After trying the food, it was actually really good and with the sauce. It was flavorful and filling. I wouldn't mind ordering this again and may try a different item when I go back. The staff was friendly. There is enough parking spaces since it's in a plaza, but when things get back to normal and opening it the parking lot would get busier.

Yelp
Elite is one of the OG dimsum places in SGV. It has been a favorite of mine for years and years and continues to be a go-to destination when I am craving for steamed dumplings. The service here is some of the worst, but there is always a line out the door for a reason. There are no carts here. All dishes are made fresh. Sure, you lose out on the excitement of the carts, but in return you get high quality food. They have some of the best har gow and shu mai. I actually think they have the best shu mai...it is incredibly flavorful and juicy and just the right size to fit in your mouth in one bite. I like that there are other things on the menu besides just dimsum. Everything is solid. Just be prepared for terrible service (which is a prerequisite for any decent Asian restaurant).
google avatar

Mike H.

Yelp
When I used to come here 4 years ago the food was off the chain. I mean so good you would have to call home to your grandma popo and tell her how dope the har gow was and just how thin the skin is! Now tho, it's a bit lackluster. The dim sum for the most part is good, but some dishes just don't seem as fresh. The cream buns are a bit stale and over cooked, the siew mai tastes a bit frozen/re-steamed and their famous turnip and scallop pastries are dry and tasteless. What happened, who knows, but me and the bois may be looking elsewhere for dimsum in SGV the next time we're on the block.

Yelp
My hubby wanted dim sum while we were in LA, so I looked for a new place to try. There were a couple articles recommending Elite Resaurant, so we came here around 1:30pm. They close at 3pm and then reopen again for dinner service, so we came just in time. There was a bit of a wait during this time still, but all you have to do is put your name on the waiting list and then they'll give you a piece of paper with a number on it. Some people were getting frustrated because it will seem like they skip you, but they are just accommodating larger groups first. Right before it was our turn, I saw people marking off what they wanted on one of the brochures and decided to do the same. After being seated, we had to ask for waters and some chilie/soy sauce even after we received part of our order. We ordered some tea, shrimp har gow, pork shiu-mai, baked pork buns, fried shrimp dumplings, crispy rice noodles, mushroom dumplings, beef balls, and Shanghai steamed buns (XLB). Each order came freshly made, so they tasted great! The crispy rice noodles were different, but too oily for me. I like that the pieces were big and delicious. My favorite dish was actually the mushrooms dumplings with meat. I couldn't taste the mushrooms and this dish was the most flavorful! Service was alright. There were a couple times when the ladies gave us something different from what we ordered. I thought that was weird since everything was already marked. In the end, our bill was still wrong, but they were nice about it and made sure everything was correct. If you're new to dim sum dishes, make sure you get what you're paying for. Good thing I knew what each dim sum looked like beforehand. Overall, I had an okay experience here. I still prefer the traditional way of eating dim sum more- with the carts rolling around and pointing to the items you want to try.

Yelp
I have been going here in the last few years despite not so great services but yesterday was the straw that broke the camel back if you will... Services were terrible as usual where we didn't get our water until the third waitress that we got a hold off, but what got me was the cover charge - 1.99 per person. This is not tip according to the cashier when she went back to our table and slammed the credit card's receipt to remind us we need to give tips where we thought the cover charge was part of the tips since there were 5 of us... Anyway expect the cover charge and unknown prices for the dim sum until you get the bill, $7.65 for the an item we paid a year for $4.50, big jump in inflation. Many more choices for dim sum, I am done with this crappy place.

Yelp
Not bad yet not best. The dinner we order was kind of plain and felt not worth it. But the service was ok. 還好,也許我們點錯了,覺得並不特別好吃,晚餐套餐覺得有點失望。

Yelp
Little on pricey side but great dim sums. Worth the money you pay. Come early if you don't want to wait.

Yelp
This is also one of my family's favorite dimsum restaurants. Tasty, delicious food. I don't know if you guys look like me. I really admire and respect the chefs, they are very meticulous to make beautiful & delicious dishes for us.

Yelp
Ok ok, I know better than to rate a chinese restaurant based on customer service, so here we go... We were here for the dim sum. The parking. We had no issue coming on Monday morning finding parking. There's a street around the corner with plenty of street parking. So I don't think parking will be an issue even during peak times. The food. How was the food? Very very meh. Not the worst, far from the best. They had order style dim sum as opposed to push cart. A small select number of dishes to pick from, a bit on the pricey side. Nothing really stood out but nothing from what we ordered were bad. So...meh? Overall do I recommend it? Sure. Its worth coming. They claim to be "Elite" Restaurant, might as well give them a shot and determine yourself if they're elite enough for your books. Everybody has different taste and you could like this one. For us they did not make the cut. Aaww heck, I lied. I'm rating these clowns down for their customer service. I know, I know, I said I wouldn't but I really should. I rarely hear of a restaurant that charges $0.75 for a plate of hot sauce. We were surprised and the manager saw it. We decided to get three plates of sauce for the whole table. The manager came out with three sauce stacked on each other, threw it on the table and cause quite the mess then walked away. Table was dirty before the food arrived. Docking them big time for that. Maybe they should've paid me $0.75 per star.

Yelp
Famous standard in LA, reviews posted in LA times, Epicurean, etc. Food was fatty and wasn't that tasty. House special roasted duck wasn't crispy, cold but 5 spice was evident. Pork shumai has chunks of pure fat in each bite. Stuck between my teeth and had to say no.

Yelp
Since Covid some of my favorites like the clay pot have been removed from the menu But in general elite still has some exceptional dim sum and my favorite seafood fried rice around. Greta for families, noisy, busy, but everything you want from a traditional Chinese restaurant

Yelp
Did not take pictures, insert generic dimsum pictures here, Found a fishnet in my shu mai. other than that; i like it more than NBC dimsum. There are no carts, you order and they bring it out. They do not have satay or chili xo sauce :( Parking sucks, find street parking if lot is full. Compared to lunasia and nbc, less wait so thats a plus.

Yelp
On Saturday 9:30am in early May, my sister decided to pick up Macau roast pork $14.99 to eat lunch. Only 2 families sat inside to eat dim sum. The paper menu has $5 and up for regular dim sum. The wait wasn't too long at all. The pork is tender and taste sweetness than regular roast pork. Even my father enjoyed the Macau pork whose a picky eater. I would go back and order it again.

Yelp

Yelp
This was a decent place to get dimsum. No carts, just order from the menu. What tasted the best here was the cheung fun (steamed rice noodle rolls) - really fresh and perfect consistency.

Yelp
I ordered a few dishes and here are the ratings - Har Gow: 1/5 for undercooked low quality shrimp - Lotus wrapped sticky rice: 5/5 great - Shiu-mai: 4/5 just ok, too much fat - Shrimp rice noodle: 4/5 for unflavored sauce - Chicken feet: 4/5, just ok - Beef tripe: 3/5, doesn't taste too good for some reason, no tendon - Japanese tofu: 2/5 the egg tofu was a bit heavy, flour covering was thick - Egg tart: 5/5! This is the star of the meal surprisingly. Sooo good! The tart base was flaky, soft, buttery. The custard was soft, melt-in-your mouth, smooth, fragrant, savoury and rich. Recommended!

Yelp
First, a caveat...I eat A LOT of dim sum so I don't tend to post pictures. Another thing is I'm on a keto diet, so I don't eat a lot of carbs in general. But a weakness of mine is hot pot rice dishes because of the crispy rice on the bottom of the pot.Today I'm going to post a not so great photo of a hot dish I had today. The entire bottom the rice was perfect. When I put it in the to-go box, the entire pot of rice came out in one piece! The other dishes I had were really good too. I'm lucky to live in the SGV where I can basically get my fill of the best dim sum there is. Elite is pricey, but you're paying for quality and excellent service.

Yelp
Elite, Happy Harbor, and Lumnasia are my top three places in LA for Dim Sum. Elite is a funny and pretentious name. The prices are a good value. The food is high quality and some items are unique but it's not as superior or expensive as the name misleads you to think... The classic must gets are the Har Gow, Shu Mai, spareribs w/or w/out rice noodles, Macau egg tarts, roast duck/roast pork, and chicken feet. My parents love the radish/taro dishes steamed/fried, supreme dumpling, shrimp rice rolls, snow buns, black sugar cake, golden yolk buns, and lotus sticky rice. I always order fried rice if my kids are eating and noodles if it's a birthday and pick up more egg tarts from Jim's Bakery down the street.

Yelp
Elite is one of my favorite places to get dim sum. Albeit it's more expensive than typical dim sum spots, their food tastes much better. The prices aren't too ridiculous like Lunasia but I'd still visit here whenever I have the time since it's out of my way. However, they don't have a big menu in terms of their dim sum dishes.

Yelp
Food 4/5 price 3/5 Dishes came out piping hot. The shumai is on the pricier side but they are huge! Har gow skin broke apart but shrimp filling had lots of shrimp and not much filler. Minced beef Cheung fun very little filling. The crispy snow bun outside was crispy and delicious, but the inside has oatmeal, very disappointing. Was hoping for the milk custard fiing. Not my favorite din sum place but would come back.

Yelp
Would get again bbq pork puff pastry, ong choy (vegetarian), salt and pepper tofu (vegetarian). Dad liked salted pancake Liked but wouldn't get again XLB, Didn't like sesame ball as it was overcooked and hard Steamed Turnip cake has meat in it for those who are vegetarian

Yelp
I heard so many good things about this place. So when things "opened up" I came here hoping to get the dim sum experience, but they do not offer dine in. They only offered take out. They had us order and pay at the door. Their menu was pretty easy to ready. We ordered just like we would've inside with numbers on their dim sum menu. The dim sum was made to order. Not everything in the menu was being sold though so be prepared to be disappointed. The Egg custard was literally they best egg custard I've ever eaten in my life and I love dim sum. It was creamy, luscious, and the pastry shell was light and flaky that added a great touch of crunch. Hands down the best thing on their menu. Order one whole set of 3 for you. Thank me later The shrimp har gao was my second favorite thing in the menu. It was stuffed with fresh tasting shrimp that was pretty intact (not mashed or in small lumps). If you love shrimp like I do, get this. The steamed bbq pork buns were delicious. The bun was super soft and not at all doughy. It was steamed perfectly. The bbq filling was great too, it was the typical bbq bun filling tbh. The bbq pork and corn cheung fun was different from anything I've ever had. The rice noodle was super soft and delicious. The bbq pork and corn added great flavor without overdoing it. Overall: Likeliness to come back: 5/5 Service: 4/5 Food: 5/5

Yelp
Amazing food, fast service. We usually choose NBC seafood for our Dim Sum, but we decided to switch it up today. Man oh man am I glad we did! The bbq pork buns are delectable and the beef short rib is nothing short of delicious. Pork siu mai are generous portions- served HOT. Lo mai gai (lotus leaf rice wrap) are beautifully seasoned, but small portions. Great depth of flavor in all dishes. We will be back soon!
