All the Restaurant Openings in Dallas, June 2025 | Eater Dallas

"A North Dallas neighborhood bistro in the former Chido Taco Lounge space (with the upstairs Latin-inspired speakeasy Customs remaining), led on drinks by Julian Shaffer — a winner of Michelin’s Exceptional Cocktails Award at Rye — and in the kitchen by executive chef Kyle Farr (formerly of Sachet and Boulevardier). The menu features shrimp and masa dumplings, steak tartare, pork cheeks with orange jus, and short ribs slow-braised in red wine, while the cocktail program ranges from dessertlike creations like Chocolate Raspberries (brandy, raspberry, and cocoa butter) to spicier offerings such as a Salsa Verde Ranch Water (tequila and mezcal with tomatillo and citrus)." - Courtney E. RUN dont walk. Bc hiding in plain sight... I'm not sure when exactly this place opened but so happy we found her! ELLA!! As a north Dallas mama, we loved feeling like we were dining in the best of Dallas without having to make the trek all the way down to city center. As a foodie couple, we were very pleased celebrating our anniversary here. The staff is sweet and kind and the food surpassed our expectations for what we would find in this area. BONUS: walk upstairs for an Agave specialty cocktail SPEAKEASY! Book your table, book an Uber, and enjoy a cozy yet elegant evening at Ella + Customs.

Had a work group happy hour here. Knew Julian Schaffer from Rye and he's doing something special and unique here!! Curated cocktails in main area and cool vibe with Agave forward drink menu in speakeasy upstairs. Fantastic place in a neighborhood not accustomed to highly curated and upscale scene.

As a resident living just a few seconds away, I’ve had the pleasure of visiting this restaurant and it never disappoints. From the moment you walk in, you’re greeted with a warm, welcoming atmosphere that makes you feel right at home. One of the standout reasons I keep coming back is the incredible service, especially from Alex, the bartender. Whether you’re in the mood for a classic cocktail or something creative and off-menu, Alex delivers with precision, personality, and a genuine smile. He has an amazing way of remembering guests’ preferences and always makes your drink just right plus, his energy behind the bar sets the tone for a great evening. Equally impressive is Julian, the manager, who goes above and beyond to ensure every guest has a top-tier experience. He’s attentive, personable, and always circulating the dining area, checking in with customers and making sure everything runs smoothly. It’s clear he takes pride in what he does, and it shows in the high standards he maintains. The food? Delicious. Thoughtfully crafted dishes, generous portions, and a menu that balances comfort with a touch of sophistication. The ambiance is cozy yet stylish perfect for a casual night out or celebrating something special. As someone who lives nearby, it’s such a treat to have a place like this in the neighborhood. Whether you’re stopping in for a quick drink or planning a full dinner experience, you’ll leave satisfied and already planning your next visit.

Ella is a culinary standout in Dallas. Every plate that hit the table was a masterclass in flavor, balance, and presentation. The ingredients felt seasonal and intentional — from the first bite to the last, it was clear the kitchen knows exactly what it’s doing. The textures were spot-on, sauces were layered with depth, and plating was elegant without being overdone. Truly one of those meals where you pause mid-bite just to savor what’s happening. Then came the hidden speakeasy upstairs — an unexpected and effortlessly cool twist. Intimate lighting, curated cocktails, and a vibe that feels like you’ve stumbled into one of Dallas’ new best-kept secrets. Ella isn’t just dinner — it’s an experience. Can’t recommend it enough for serious food lovers.

Top tier place! Definitely should be having some sort of award or recognition coming their way! Great service, amazing unique food you can’t find many other places in Dallas! I had the pork cheeks tender, citrus acidity, flavorful, hearty- highly recommend! Plus

Last night was the second time I've eaten here, even though I have visited Customs upstairs before Ella opened. I was so impressed with my first meal, I invited friends to come along last night, and everyone thoroughly enjoyed every aspect of the experience. We tried several different house cocktails including Raspberry Fields, Poached Pear and Libertad (my personal favorite) as well as two classics--Ella martini and daiquiri. ALL were excellent. For appetizers we selected bread service, steak tartare (another personal favorite) and mussels. Each of us requested a different entree and each of us was convinced that ours was the best choice: steak frites, short rib, petite filet and the evening's fish selection, halibut. A special mention must be made of the purees--YUM! Thank you to everyone for making our evening delicious and delightful! I look forward to my next visit...

This is a beautiful environment. Perfect for date night or meeting up with friends for drinks. So beautiful and moody inside. Food is delicious and the drinks are immaculate. Will definitely be coming back soon

Yelp
Ella DTX -- Discovered on TikTok -- Confirmed by Taste Buds. Because TikTok Doesn't Prepare You for This Level of Grown-Up Delicious on a Saturday Night I found Ella on TikTok...because of course I did...and honestly, Madison tried, but her review had the energy of someone describing fireworks with a flashlight. I was skeptical... right up until the steak tartare hit the table and whispered, "You're home now." We started with the bacon-wrapped dates, which I'm convinced are legally addictive. If bacon could flirt, this would be it. Followed by the corn soup - velvety, slightly sweet, and poured tableside like it's auditioning for Broadway. Smooth enough to shut everyone at the table up mid-sip. Including our niece, Ella, who now thinks the restaurant is hers. Then came the steak tartare - clean, cold, sharp, and perfectly balanced. No weird gels or foam, just a timeless classic that respected the ingredient. A mic drop on a plate. The scallops arrived next, no sauce, no distractions - just beautifully caramelized tops, tender insides, and that confident "we don't need help" energy you rarely see outside of Paris... or a well-funded Dallas divorce attorney. And then - dear sweet culinary gods - the ube dessert. It's like Prince or the Artist formerly known as...retired to Tokyo, opened a dessert bar, and dropped this ube bomb as his edible farewell tour. Purple. Glossy. Perfect. It was rich without being heavy, elegant without being fussy, and crunchy where it needed to be. A full-on purple mic drop. Service? Impeccable. Not fake-friendly - just people who know their menu and don't hover like a lost intern. And then there's Casaleah, our server - the absolute best. Warm, funny, knew the menu cold, and made us feel like we were regulars...even though we clearly screamed "first-timers with questions." Her energy tied the whole experience together like a gourmet bow. Ambiance? Sexy without being loud. Upscale without being allergic to fun. Ella is what happens when grown-ups decide to eat like adults but still want to smile between courses. We came for TikTok hype...but Ella isn't just a restaurant - it's a flex. The food hits. The vibes land. And thanks to Casaleah, we didn't just eat ...we dined. We'll be back...and not just because our niece is named Ella. But it doesn't hurt.

Yelp
New restaurant with a lot of room for improvement. The price says fine dining but the ambiance did not feel like fine dining. Most of the staff members were pretty friendly but our main waiter's vibe felt off. She seems a bit pretentious. Like when I asked her for the specials, she only told me and not the whole table. Beef tartare could use some salt and acidity. It was a bit too raw for a tartare. Salmon was cooked nicely but the beet sauce threw it off. Both the pork cheek and scallops were served with some kind of pickled veggies that was an overkill and took away from the natural flavors of the protein. Although our scallops were cooked perfectly, I think $55 for 3 pieces of scallops is a bit pricey. Food was not too too bad but it should be wonderful for the price we are paying. Plus alll cocktails runs you $18. Therefore, not sure we would be returning customers.

Yelp
The food was amazing. I mean, really really good. However, the atmosphere and the drinks were all over the place. We are pretty sure we got just tequila instead of margaritas. Additionally, I'm all good with shorts and a t-shirt in Dallas, but that's not what I expected of the person by the hostess stand on a place with these prices. Perhaps he is the owner, but it killed the mood of the place.

Yelp
What a wonderful, very cozy dining experience we had on a weekend evening. The food is served elegantly, is delicious, with attractive sides. The hostess and waiters are refined and polite. The service was excellent. We were not rushed or hurried. We ordered wine, and it was top shelf good! The drink menu looked tasty also. It was a very nice, comfortable, somewhat sophisticated and pleasant atmosphere.

Yelp
I came again, and the food was just as good! It came out very quickly, and the filet was cooked exactly how I like it. This will be a regular spot for me, definitely.

Yelp
For an appetizer we had the beef tartare and bread service, both were great! My wife had the bolognese and I had the scallops, the scallops were incredible and served in a unique manner. The coolest part is there is a fantastic little speakeasy upstairs we had dessert up there and I had a few cocktails and they made a custom mocktail for my pregnant wife! It seems like the restaurant really leans into chef drive unique meals, which is refreshing! Services was great, especially upstairs!

Yelp
Terrible food, our food took 1.5 hours and was served cold. Not impressed and they did not comp our meal. Would not recommend even to an enemy.

Yelp
To start on a positive note - the waitstaff was lovely. I have gone very back and forth on whether to post this review or not as the restaurant is brand new. Understand they are still getting on their feet. However, I really did not love the way the staff handled our situation. We ordered apps and they came out timely. Unfortunately, cannot say the same about our dinner. It took over an hour for 5 of us to get our meal and when we did finally get our meals, they were all very lukewarm/cold. My friend ordered the steak frites and it was COLD COLD... like not edible it was so cold. We kindly brought this to our servers attention and she was very apologetic and sent her manager over. The manager was also kind and appreciated that we told him about the cold food but also said "we didn't expect to have a full house tonight"........ it's a Friday night in Dallas sir.... C'mon. Anyways, my friend did not touch her meal as it was that cold and with how apologetic the manager was, we expected them to do the right thing and comp this one item (not all of our meals. Just the steak frites). To our surprise, they still charged her for the full meal that she didn't touch. This was a $40+ meal that came out very cold... instead of comping her meal, they offered her a slice of cake... Again, we understand this is a new restaurant and it takes time to get things right, but waiting over an hour for our food and then it coming out cold was a huge bummer, especially because this was not an inexpensive meal. I am still sitting here SHOCKED that they did not comp my friends meal that was freezing cold and untouched. That would have been the right thing to do. Unfortunately, we will not be going back here because we were very disappointed in the way this was handled. I hope that over time they can get it down a little better as it has potential, but was def disappointed tonight.
