The Best Savannah, Georgia, Restaurants | Eater Carolinas

"Ellie Coursey can’t remember if she and her late husband Grant opened Crow Bar in 1970 or 1971, but she does remember that Grant believed in a stiff pour. One must abide by these non-negotiables to join the esteemed rank of regular at this Wilmington Island institution: Don’t order a double, but do order a $25 porterhouse with a side of onion rings and hot yaki wings at midnight just because you can. Do the Jell-O shot. Plan for two hours but stay for twelve. It’s easy to surrender all sense of time to the Styrofoam cups and characters that populate Ellie’s Crow Bar Lounge." - Kiki Dy

Wow what appears to be a hole in the wall bar turns out to be a pretty laid back vibe joint. Music on point. Yummy food and make sure you get Becca as your bartender. Cool hangout for locals!

You're not welcome here if you are a POC or LGBTQ+! My husband and I went here to eat dinner and have a drink. We sat at the bar and ordered a drink. We had to wait for the kitchen to reopen to order food. One of the customers told a bigotted joke about gay people and the bartender, who obviously knew this customer laughed! The bartender then listened to this same patron tell a racist "joke" that was about POC! The bartender laughed right along with their racist customer! Their bar back was black! This black man has to listen to white patrons tell racist jokes while he's trying to earn a living!

Typical dive bar. Bartenders are always great and efficient! Best cheese sticks and jello shots!

Siblings and I decided to hang out on Christmas Eve while in town visiting our parents. We chose this bar and had a great time. Our bartender was great, she recommended some tasty drinks and was efficient. The food was good too… we all had the wings. Nice portions on food and drinks all around. Did not leave hungry or sober for sure.

This bar has great food. Everything is good, and the kitchen is open late.

From Crow Bar I had a Cheeseburger. 1/2 lb Cheeseburger that comes with your choice of fries, onion rings, slaw or side salad. I asked for no lettuce and added bacon. To my surprise, it was really good. The burger itself had a great taste. And the onion rings were good. Even though it might not be your first thought to grab food here, go give them a try. I'd give them 3.75 stars if I could.

Amazing steak meal!! Seriosuly T bone steak for 25$ ya cant beat it. All of the food is great here, especially the egg rolls but im a big wing fan and they are also great! Friendly fun bartenders and an array of fun locals. Also a great deal on delicious fried chicken! A lot of bang for your buck. Two thumbs up to my local favorite spot!

Google
Great local watering hole. Ellie and Collin were friendly, drinks are STRONG. I had the sirloin steak sandwich and it was tasty. Couple of TV screens, pool table and nice people at the bar to chat with. Stop on in, take an Uber!

Yelp

Yelp
This is such a cute little bar. There are not any windows so when you first walk in it seems soooo dark. But after a few minutes it isn't so bad. The bartender and chef were so nice and welcoming! The bar is small and they have some booths. There is one pool table which is nice! The beer prices were so amazing! The customers were very welcoming. We ordered some French fries. They were great and the portion was so big. They have a juke box that you can play songs from your phone. How cool is that! We can't wait to go back and visit again!

Yelp
We visited Wilmington Island again and had to stop into the dive bar for some yummy cheap food and cheap drinks. Becca was our bartender and she is great!! One of my fav spots on the Island.

Yelp
We stopped in for a late lunch. We chose to sit in the attached dining room/game room which was a less dark than the bar area. Staff was very friendly and the food was piping hot. I've never had food arrive that fresh off the grill before. It seemed to take a bit longer than you would expect but it was worth the wait.

Yelp
Great burgers and wings! Kitchen open till late! Colin, the bartender, is super friendly!

Yelp
Interesting Dive spot with the best onion rings. Loved that we could play Keno and grab a quick bite to eat.

Yelp
Eh, it's your stereotypical local dive bar. I've been a few times, never had a bad time. Of course, if you're on vacation and looking for something touristy, I'd maybe try something else. But if you're new to Wilmington Island, add this place to your hangout lists if you're looking to not hang out with tourists when you go out for a drink during the week. Oh, and do be sure to drive safe.

Yelp
Can't believe it's our first time here after living on the islands for a decade. It meets the expectation. Everything we ordered is delicious and the service is super friendly! A quintessential example of a local dive bar!

Yelp
I had my druthers about this place, but I accompanied three friends. The place was dark and had a cigarette smell aroma. The hamburger was good, but I won't return due to the smell.

Yelp
We attempted to eat at this bar and grill but we're unable to get anyone to come to our table to take our order. It's more of a bar than a grill. I wouldn't recommend stopping for food, maybe just a drink? The place is run down, Bars on the windows and LOUD!

Yelp
5 Stars for solely two reasons. 1. I am from upstate NY... northern NY really. I've been down South for 15years and have yet to have a "real" wing... until tonight, at Crow Bar.... bra-freaking-vo!!!! PS they have chunky blue cheese... not flipping ranch!!! 2. Crispy seasoned fries... perfect. Ok... third reason... cheap!

Yelp
Once again the burger and chicken sandwich were 100% on point. And the Onion Rings killing it as usual.

Yelp
This is the place for the locals and travelers alike. We hit it every time we're in town.

Yelp
Savannah, Georgia (Wilmington Island) - The "Crow Bar" is a TOP-of-the-list bar experience ... ... a "Run-A-Way Bill" Favorite bartender, interactive customers, great atmosphere, unique bar flair, amazing stories, convenient parking and LOTS & LOTS of smiles! The bar top are REAL deck hatches from an 1880's ship ... WOW! bar sat about 20 & they were filled when I left with everyone talking to each other ... I personally met Larry, Mac, Bruce & Rick I did not eat, but I saw several orders of wings delivered to the customers, and I will ordered food next time ... impressive! "Run-A-Way Bill" was here! day 065 "666 Bars of 2017" / bar 103 day 012 "DUSA 2017" (Discover USA) #RunAwayBill #666BarsUSA #DUSA2017 03.06.17

Yelp
This place is nothing less than cringeworthy. I knew I was heading to a dive bar but this place is scary. Everything feels dirty and sticky, even the bathroom was terrifying. I wasn't expecting to order a craft cocktail at a place like this so I asked the bartender what she was comfortable making. Ended up setting on a lemon drop but the shot I received was a truly poor attempt at one. I would not feel comfortable at this bar as a woman alone. And definitely would not eat anything that came out of their kitchen, merely based on the condition of the rest of the bar.

Yelp
When Tommy B was running the Crow Bar the food was great! I knew he had left because the quality of the food went down hill fast! I'm not saying that it's awful but it's not consistent. One time you get the regular fries and the next time you get some big fries and they aren't crispy at all! I understand that it's "bar" food, but they feed most of the Islands bar and Restaurant workers. I hope that they go back to what most of us have gotten used to. I love the Crow Bar and I don't look forward to going to Tybee to grab dinner, but I WILL

Yelp
Best place to get wings! They're so dang good. And the staff is pretty friendly as well.

Yelp
Home to the rudest bartender on the island. Such a shame since I find all the others to be so cool and friendly. We sure do miss Amanda. *sigh*

Yelp
Wow. Best popcorn this side of the Windy City. Hands down. I consider myself somewhat of a bar-popcorn aficionado and I have to say the salt to butter ratio is damn near prefect. Came for the popcorn stayed for the cold beer. 10/10. yee yee.

Yelp
Amazing wings. Cold beer. Friendly, fast service. Be sure to get the story behind the bar and tabletops. This bar is a great place to stop after a day on the water.

Yelp
THE BEST BURGER EVER. Love the place. Very casual. We go for lunch every now and then. We feel comfortable and at ease here.

Yelp
Had to review this place because their average 3-star rating isn't fair. Best burgers on the island and wings...omg, get the teriyaki, I swear they lace them with crack (they don't, but they are addictive). Yes, Fridays are crazy...people tend to go out on Fridays. I've always had a great experience with the bar staff/wait staff. I wouldn't call us regulars, but the patrons have always been nice and willing to strike up a conversation, despite not being a familiar face.

Joellen C.

Yelp
Great, fresh, good. Best hamburgers wings and fried chicken! I highly recommend it. We locals love Crowbar

Yelp
We stopped in on a Friday night from a recommendation of another establishment as THE place to go on Wilmington Island. We were very disappointed with the atmosphere. We were made to feel like an outsider and that our money wasn't welcome. Bar service was slow. Not sure how the food was because no one bothered to ask us if we wanted to order. In addition, staff and patrons were extremely rude. There are better places to spend your money that appreciate your patronage. This place could care less. Stopped in the Islander down the street for Kareoke and they were much nicer.
