Great pizza. Met the owners, very accommodating. Hildes Pepperoni and Mishkas Margarita. The pizza was cooked perfectly. Doug brought me some hot honey from his private stash. Definitely support this awesome small biz.

Ellie’s Wood Fired Pizza is an absolute gem in San Diego. I’ll admit, I was a bit skeptical seeing all the 5/5 reviews—but it truly lives up to the hype. The pizza was phenomenal. Perfectly charred crust, flavorful toppings, and that unbeatable wood-fired taste. The vibes are just as good as the food; Warm, welcoming, and full of character. Doug and his wife have really built something special here, and it shows in every detail. If you’re in San Diego, this is a must-visit spot.

BEST PIZZA IN SD! I can honestly eat this elote pizza for breakfast! Homemade ranch and chili oil 🔥 ‼️Served with a lime which gives a different - yet delicious twist! In my head all I can hear is that Daddy Yankee song saying “DAME MAS GASOLINA”😎. 🍕🏆

Ellie’s wood fire pizza is SOOO good. If you are reading this than you should probably get some. Our experience was great. We called and the lady who answered was incredibly friendly and helpful. Helped us pick the perfect pizzas for our family of four to enjoy during a sunset at the beach. We got a text when the pizzas were ready and everybody loved them. We are only here for a short bit, but will return!

Been here multiple times and it’s just incredible! Such great pizza (coming from someone who used to live in Italy). Can’t wait to be back!

Visiting California for the first time and as a CT Pizza Snob the first thing I do in a new place is look up recommended pizza spots. Ellie’s was a block from my AirBnb and had a 5/5 review. So I said to my girl, “this is the spot we need to check out”, and we headed up. The hours are crazy limited for good reason but we got there at open and chose the outdoor seating. The decor was really neat 70’s style and the wood oven was in the back yard on a trailer. I sat at a picnic table and watched Doug, the owner, carefully crafting orders. As I watched him all I could think was “this man is an artist.” He inspected EVERY pizza that came out. When ours were finally cooked and brought over, he stopped and chatted with us for a bit. Doug shared with us his deep passion for pizza and explained how he and his wife just started the shop and take time on the weekend to bake pies for the local homeless population. Great story, great vibe, great people…and then there’s the pizza. Absolute GAS. As good a wood fired pizza as I’ve had anywhere, and I’ve had a lot. I couldn’t wait to wake up in the morning and heat up my leftovers. If you are in San Diego and don’t grab a pizza from Ellie’s, you missed out.

Seriously great pizza! The staff were kind and made great recommendations. The chef took time to show our kids the wood fire oven and chatted with them. Definitely recommend.

This place is soooo good! A great addition to a neighborhood already filled with great spots, and one of the best pizzas ive had in recent years. I can personally vouch that the elote, margherita and pepperoni/sausage pizzas are amazing, with fresh and delicious ingredients and a crispy on the outside soft on the inside dough. All of them have amazing 10/10 flavor. The owners are also super nice and the inside of the restaurant is so cool and fun to hang out in. Overall love Ellies and love to have them around in OB

Ellie's Wood Fired Pizza is a newly opened pizzeria in the middle of a quiet block in North OB. The space used to house a health and beauty products store. When you walked in, it didn't feel anything like a typical pizza shop, A cozy, retro-inspired dining area was up front while the back had an open patio where the oven resided along with some outdoor seating. No dedicated on-site parking was available so you have to search for a nearby curbside space. Ten vinyl records hung above the service counter. Each one listed a different menu item. Eight different preset pizza varieties were offered with prices ranging from $14 to $20. Cheesy garlic bread was priced at $14. The worker mentioned my order would take close to 50 minutes to be prepared because there were several large tickets ahead of mine. I selected Django's Pepperoni Sausage, paid, and then left to run other errands before returning to claim my take-out order. San Marzano tomato sauce, Italian sausage, pepperoni, and shredded mozzarella were the toppings. Red onion was also included which I declined. There were eight pieces in the Neapolitan style pie. The amount of pepperoni and sausage wasn't loaded, but it was fair. The crust was chewy with some burnt edges. If you are looking for thin and crispy, then Ellie's Wood Fired Pizza may not be the spot for you.

You gotta try it. Was having withdrawal from Bufalina in Austin then Ellie's opened! 3 pizzas on 3 nights. All excellent!

I'm so glad I stopped in to try this place. The inside was very cozy and welcoming. The menu was simple and straight forward but the pies weren't just the same old. Cleo's Alfredo Sausage was delicious. I didn't mean to eat the whole thing by myself but I definitely did haha. The woman at the counter was very nice and cheery and kept me updated about the status of my pizza. I'll be back again very soon!

I went to Ellie's for the first time last night. I got the elote pizza. Which was absolutely delicious. I devoured the whole thing. Though I should have saved some for lunch. The atmosphere there is so cool. It's more like a coffeehouse vibe than a pizza restaurant. Really nice music was playing. And there was a couple there with the cutest baby. Ellie was so welcoming. I will be going back again without a doubt.

We love Ellie's!!! It's our new go-to in OB. Take out or dine in, always a great experience. Delicious pizza and amazing owners, super nice people. Go local and you wont be disappointed.

Love the atmosphere.. super cute spot with really nice staff. Pizza was quick and super delicious. We had the cheese and the Margherita and everyone loved it including the 5 and 7 year old kiddos. We'll be back for sure.

We had a sausage and mushroom pizza. It was delicious! The place is super cute and the owners are warm and welcoming . What's not to love?! This is going to be my go-to pizza place from now on! I'm bringing my dog Ellie in next time to say woof!

Loved this Neapolitan style pizza place! The owners are super friendly and the atmosphere of the whole place reflects that. The pizzas are delicious. Chewy crust, fresh flavors, and both traditional and unique topping combos. Not only that, but because Ellie's uses simple quality ingredients and I felt so comfortable asking about those ingredients, I was able to give my toddler with various allergies his first taste of pizza (just the crust and San Marzano tomato sauce, but still very exciting for him)! Came here with my family while visiting them in San Diego, and will definitely come back for more next time I'm in the area.

The best pizza in town! This is becoming my weekly treat! I love the Margherita Pizza with Pepperoni. The crust is fermented for at least 3 days which makes the pizzas extra special. I love how the wood fired oven bakes the dough wonderfully. The owners are super friendly which makes it so nice to hang out there. I look forward to trying their other pizzas! They all look so good.

This new wood fired pizza joint is legit. I own a wood fired pizza place in Texas and I'm pretty finicky when it comes to pizza. The dough is excellent and the oven cooks it perfectly. I think their menu could use help but regardless I'll be back!

The pizza here is absolutely delicious when fresh out of the oven, easily some of the best pies in San Diego County. However, the quality drops from an 11/10 to something like an 8/10 once it cools. It's still very good, but I whole heartedly recommend eating this fresh over taking it to go.

Been twice and got the margherita pizza, super good and love the wood fired crust. Will be back to try the others. Cute dining space too, 70s vibes friendly staff as well. I think it's dog friendly too, also a plus

Food was super yummy and had classic and unique flavors. HOMEMADE RANCH!!! So good. And the service and vibes were awesome. Nice place to have a date or chill with friends. Would definitely go again :)

The service was incredible and the workers were so kind and enthusiastic to hear our thoughts and feelings about their pizza. One of the best pizza doughs that I have ever had and it is made in house ! The ambiance of indoor is lovely and the outdoor seating is beautiful. Please support this business!
