Pitmaster Elliott Moss Opens a Barbecue Restaurant in Florence, S.C. | Eater Carolinas

"Opened in mid-March by acclaimed pitmaster Elliott Moss in the Seminar Brewing space, this hometown barbecue spot celebrates Pee Dee whole-hog tradition with pulled-pork whole-hog plates, baby back ribs, smoked chicken wings and plenty of Southern sides. Moss—returning to his birthplace after years working in Asheville and co-founding notable projects—has been warmly received by locals and visiting festival crowds; the team even plated for award-winning pitmasters at a recent Florence food festival. The whole-hog plate is a must-order, and the pimento cheese and bacon burger (smoky meat with creamy pimento and pickled peppers) is singled out as one of the best bites of the year. Conveniently positioned as an easy stop off I-95 for travelers seeking better smoked meats than typical roadside options, the owner plans to expand the restaurant’s reach while keeping it rooted in Pee Dee flavors. Open Wed–Thu 11 a.m.–9 p.m., Fri–Sat 11 a.m.–10 p.m., Sun 11 a.m.–9 p.m." - Erin Perkins

First time visiting Elliots: Haley was our server. She was delightful and gave recommendations after asking about our taste preferences, she let us taste a couple beers before deciding on a glass and she whipped up the Memphis Blues cocktail for me which is one of the best cocktails I've ever had. Note to restaurant, you have more IPA's than anything else in beer and I'd like to see more blonde pales or wheat's but husband loved the Lunar Haze and the stout. Husband's favorite food item was the cheddar sausage appetizer. Unlike anything we've had before in sausage and in house made! We both had the pulled bbq and he got the ribs. Ribs were meaty, tender and you could taste a whiff of smoke which was delicious. Same for the pork and they give you a large portion. Sides were collards (some of the best I've ever had but (note to chef) a tad salty, however, I couldn't stop eating them! Potato salad has a "zing" to it, sweet potato fries were great, baked beans tasted like the best family reunion type beans, the kind you always look forward to enjoying. Go to Elliot's, ask for Haley and definitely get the sausage appetizer, enjoy the cool adult beverage selections and feast on the best bbq and sides you've ever dreamed of!

Absolutely one of the best doing Whole Hog in the country. Great wings, burgers, ribs and sausages. The sides are on another culinary level, using the freshest local ingredients. The boiled peanuts are a must! Grab a beer & enjoy!

First time visiting after remodel. We ordered several things fron the menu. A burger, chicken strips, buffalo chicken sandwich, tater tot nachos and the soft pretzel. All the food was served hot and fresh. The burger was ok. Nothing really special about it and the fries were crispy and fresh. Chicken tenders were hot and fresh and large. Our daughter had plenty to take home. The buffalo chicken sandwich was pretty large and the sauce is zippy. I liked it and brought half home as we had two appetizers. The soft pretzels were not huge but went well with the beer cheese. The mustard was a Dijon style and was decent as well. Last but not least. The motor tot nachos. Had high expectations. We got with the pork. Ill probably try the chicken next go around. While the portion was large. We felt it needed a bit more of the bbq sauce and toppings. The BBQ sauce at the table is not the same as what comes on the nachos. Moreover, fun family place to visit. Next time I want to try rhe wings.

Let me start with what a wonderful experience and the man himself, Elliot, was there as well. The staff are super knowledgeable and attentive. The beers were delicious! And my dad had the Pinot Gris & tried the Prosecco on tap, both were good. We always share so that was we can try lots of different things. We got the Trinity (ribs, pulled pork, and cheddar jalapeño sausage) and lots of sides. We also got a half smoked chicken and the chicken tenders (yes, we have lots of left overs). Everything came out hot and delicious but the star was not the pork but the chicken. The 1/2 chicken and the chicken tenders were so juicy and full of flavor my mouth waters just remembering. The pulled pork was good, ribs had great flavor but not fall off the bone, and the sausage was by far the tastiest burst of flavor of all the dishes. We tried so many different sides but the ones that stood out were the French fries (for flavor), the coleslaw was fresh made, the baked beans, and the mixed beans. We loved them all. It’s a family friendly cool place to go to. So many arcade games, pool tables, big cumfy chairs, and a beer garden (that needs some updates) has the potential to be a hot spot for bands and parties. Definitely will be back! Side note: the bathrooms were super clean and reminded me of my grandmothers.

Located inside the historic Seminar Brewing Co., Elliott’s offers a unique dining experience with a touch of nostalgia and a modern flair. The space includes a cozy beer garden, a covered patio, and a miniature record shop. Such a cute, fun cozy space, with a great menu, full bar, and excellent staff. They’ve built such a wonderful gathering place with pool tables, many couches and comfy seating for after hours weekend fun as well !! It’s a must go and see when in Florence, SC, or a great stop if driving by on the way to or from Myrtle Beach …

When traveling I95 near Florence SC exit 164 (I think) ...New NC style BBQ restaurant Elliott's just opened 2 weeks ago combined with a brewey Seminar. I thought it was awesome and reasonable... give it a try. Owner is a James Beard award winning chef! Ribs moist and tender as was the BBQ. Lightly sauced with a vinegary red sauce. Just a little kick. We had sides of white slaw, pub fries, smoked green beans and a draft beer from brewery. Hope they keep menu simple but add hushpuppies! Service tad slow as we were traveling but will definetly return.
