The Best Restaurants in Paris | Bon Appétit

"A modern-but-warm bistro tucked off the Canal Saint‑Martin where light, precise dishes feel wholly original: wafer‑thin pastry shells filled with crudo, geometrically plated seasonal fruit salads, perfectly shingled slivers of faux‑filet with creamy eggplant, and memorable desserts like a vanilla‑hazelnut praline tart for two that soothes jet‑lagged nerves. The calm Marais setting and thoughtful compositions make it a reliably restorative dinner destination." - ByBon Appétit Staff & Contributors

"Close to République, this terribly chic bistro is officiated by a chef with an impressive career (including L'Oustau de Baumanière, Pierre Gagnaire, travels in Asia and Latin America). He composes a flavoursome menu that packs a punch, with fine meats cooked on embers or on the rotisserie." - Michelin Inspector

The entire experience was EXCEPTIONAL! Genuinely did not want the meal to end. Each course was outstanding, with the scallops in particular standing out as my favorite item of the night (really each dish stood out in its own right though, it was very close!). If you do drink, the wine selection was also incredible and I really enjoyed each wine they recommended with my meal. On top of all this, the service was lovely and everyone genuinely seemed interested in making sure I was having a great experience (to the extent that, at one point, I almost thought they maybe mistook me for a food critic because they were so effusively hospitable and accommodating 😂). 1000% will come back here when I’m in Paris again, and, if you love food, you should too!!

What a fantastic experience. Very attentive staff and the food was exceptional. Great wine recommendations. A perfect night - thank you

The dinner was very hectic. Whenever a server approached it felt very rushed . The service sequence lacked style. Slamming silverware on the table as if the food is already on the table. And there was zero space between entree and main. I was asked to return to the table (😂) cuz the food is arriving right after entree is cleared. The server who served the mains touched one of the dishes and one main came with cilantro (allergy requested ahead of time). She rolled her eyes and was very annoyed with it. If seemed like a more senior server took over our table and she was professional and very nice. It was also never explained side dishes were accompanied with mains. Oh well The most unfortunate is that no manager ever approached for us to provide feedback (hence here I am). Even with gestures given for dessert we left with bad taste in our mouth. PS wine was great.

Incredibly well prepared food. You can feel the passion of the staff. Atmosphere was cozy. It feels like your best friend cooked a meal for you. The duck was juicy and tender - made to perfection.

Great dinner in a very nice restaurant. Lots of staff. Perfect and friendly service. For lunch they offer reasonable prized lunch menus. Highly recommended, The tail of the monkfish was amazing

Very nice place, small, inviting, great service —professional, warm—and great food. The lamb was wonderful. And the citron tart—wow.

Google
Fantastic meal, and we all ended up eating much more than we anticipated. Beetroot tart, lobster ravioli and frog legs for starters— we ended up ordering seconds on the frog legs and lobster ravioli! The pork chop was sliced and cooked perfectly, with great smokiness. The cod fish entree and the cauliflower sides were also superb. Elmer is quite different from many French restaurants in its lighter and more delicate flavors.

Sourcing local foods💚 Caramelized onion tartlet: it’s so delicate, the layers of flavor is amazing and it’s slightly sweet White asparagus: must try! The crunchy elements are a nice touch Octopus: yum! Veal tenderloin: the veal is good but that cabbage roll, wow! Lamb for 2: it’s actually a very big portion, the lamb is so tender and not gamy at all. The reduction that came with it is so good. A serving of a mushroom and pork wrapped in pasta and a sesame sauce, another delicious dish! The desserts.. omg You have to get their dessert! It’s not only a piece of art but it’s so delicious. We tried all 3 desserts, we had the vacherin, poached pear with almond hazelnut and coffee artichoke tiramisu, I recommend all three! Service: attentive and so friendly, amazing team Ambience: great for a nice dinner out with family and friends

Yelp
This is my another 'must-visit' restaurant while in Paris. I love their focus on the limited number of dishes on the menu which change regularly based on seasonal fresh ingredient availability, I believe. Sometimes, I couldn't pick one starter (as they all looked good) and ended up selecting multiple starter dishes instead of one main dish! This is the perfect venue for someone who would enjoy modern French cuisine in the casual/clean setting w/o ordering tasting course menu. I always enjoy chef Simon's beautiful and tasty dishes as well as saying hi when I see him.

Yelp
Truly incredible experience, both from a service and quality perspective. We received great recommendations on wine, and the prix fixe for our group was outstanding. We had a baby with us and she was treated special throughout the evening. Definitely recommend!

Yelp
A small group of us ate here just before lockdown and all of us, all whom have rather spoilt and refined palates, were suitably impressed. Since then we've been having home delivery for a few special occasions (I think we need to find more occasions) and they haven't disappointed. Though a bit pricier than your average home delivery, the cost is well in tune with the great quality, always interesting and very tasty food. Highly recommend!

Yelp
We just had the best meal here! We were celebrating my parent's 50th wedding anniversary and reserved the chef's table (downstairs in the wine "cave"). Food was tremendous, sommelier gave excellent wine advice and service was top-notch! 5-stars all the way!

Yelp
This is a beautiful space and the menu sounded delicious but unfortunately we were served raw ravioli - with completely uncooked cold langoustine inside and raw dough that made it difficult to enjoy the rest of our meal. There was also no apology or acknowledgment of this mistake that could make me ill.

Yelp
What a wonderful dinner I had here. Not a cheap place, but it is worth the splurge here. They specialize in roasted dishes in their gas/charcoal oven that are made to share between two people. Sucking pig, fish or beef. They are wonderful. And the appetizers are also great - I had a terrine of foie gras. And desserts are also a bid item here. We shared a (huge) tart tatin, classical French dessert, made just delicious here. Situated in a tranquil street, you can pick outside seating. The ambiance is nice and a good wine chart as well.

Yelp
This is a nice neighborhood restaurant that we've enjoyed going to for a number of years. But the prices have recently increased substantially, even by Paris standards, and are out of line with the quality of the food. We won't be going back.

Yelp
A pleasant and warm space, but another example of all that bores me in cooking today. The starter, seared pieces of squid and cuttlefish, was simple and pleasing to the eye but pointlessly mixed up on the palate. Too much sweet, green, and lemon obscured the pleasures of the protein. We shared a 'barbecued'/smoked pork for two, which came in beautiful card-sized cuts of medium rare pink. This dish also came with a side of jus and roasted veg, like mushrooms, parsnips, and peppers (nice touch). Overall, very tasty. The heavy essence of smoke might be overwhelming for some palates, but I enjoyed it. Dessert was another example of the failures of chef ego. It was a pretty kiwi and quince dessert with vanilla ice cream, chopped nuts, etc. The problem? It was topped with rocket (arugula). I mean, fine, I guess that's kind of interesting - and it was not offensive, per se. But why? Not a very good cost to satisfaction ratio, but the food is nicely prepared. 3.4 stars.
