Time slowed down as I walked through the door. Charming restaurant with big flavor. The best BBQ in Tulsa! The portions sizes are great. blues lightly playing.. The sweet tea... the bark on the ribs was astounding. Can't wait to go back!!! Get the badwich. Thank me later!

Google
This place has a very relaxing and calm environment to it. All of the blues decor is cool and the music they play is very relaxing as well. The owner was very friendly and nice. Service was fast and the food was great. You should definitely give this place a try and get you some of that good ole Oklahoma Smoked BBQ

Located on a great street to shop, have a drink, and then enjoy some barbecue. The owner was on site, friendly, and impressionable. Warm friendly smile and also prepared the food. The potato salad was mashed-like, which was new to me. Salmon was flavorful and a bit dry. (Maybe the smoking does that) Make sure to purchase some bbq sauce to take home, great flavor, and 3 options to choose from. Decor was entertaining and full of history.

Shout out to Keith, who owns Elmer’s BBQ in Brookside. I haven’t been to Elmer’s in years. Turns out they moved 3 years ago to 3316 S Peoria Ave. Keith’s passion for his BBQ and his customers is unmatched. My wife & I ate lunch there today and left with full stomachs and a new friend. The BBQ, sides and sauce were all terrific! It be BAD (in a good way)

Like coming back home — if home is phenomenal bbq and gracious service overflowing with authenticity. Bo Diddley on the box mixes with a Smokey-sweet fragrance we all know from the great bbq spots. We adore the quality of the food and the attentiveness of the owner and staff made us all smile. And we’re not a group that smiles easily. First rate food and southern hospitality makes us want to be a guest in Elmer’s home whenever we visit Tulsa. Nicely done, Elmer’s!

Google
Elmer’s has become my favorite BBQ restaurant in Tulsa! Had the chopped brisket dinner and it was fantastic—super moist and perfectly smoky. The fries and fried okra were great too! Fun atmosphere with some awesome jazz music playing and really friendly service. Will definitely be back!

Google
Really really good bbq. cool place with the bb king vibe and blues music 🎶. Lunch was great thank u guys.

Google
The portions were small. I ordered a 3 meat I think. I got one dry tough rib, 2 thinly small sliced pieces of bologna, and a scoop of tasteless brisket. The baked beans tasted like canned pork and beans with barbeque sauce and the potato salad tasted like mashed potatoes with a little mayo. Both in very small containers. The sauce was ok, but in the smallest containers. The sausage was cut in very small pieces and seemed to be about half of a small sausage. The meat cutter had a new helper and was rudely telling him how to handle the orders. That cost about $19.50. I have been to Albert Gs, Leons, Oklahoma Style, and Daddy B's, in the last 2 to 3 weeks, and this was the worst with the smallest portions.

Yelp
Love this place! Keith is very kind and made it a great experience! This is my favorite bbq place in Tulsa. Vibes were great! Super chill and relaxing for a quick lunch.

Yelp
the food is great. counter service is friendly and helpful. the atmosphere is conveniently located right off of brookside and the owner is always in, checking on operations which is always a plus to me. i wish my stomach was better equipped for BBQ, but being a woman that mainly eats vegetables with a side of meat, i still find myself eagerly waiting for the right time to try different cuts from time to time. btw, i watched the owner slice of chunks of meat to let someone sample it before they bought it. the owner was also polite to his regulars and knew the names of the kids that came in with them. it really is the little things that can make a place go from great to perfect.

Yelp
Great food, great meal. Would definitely recommend. Hard-working business owner Keith was phenomenal and very friendly! Should definitely check out if you're in the area

Yelp
Man oh man, what a find. As a BBQ lover, Elmer's ticked off ALL the boxes for me. A great, cozy dining room, great blues music that wasn't too loud, owner Keith was super friendly and accommodating, and the food was...WOW. Might be the best sausage I've ever tasted. Outstanding slaw and baked beans. I got a double portion of brisket which was perfect--moist and flavorful, not dried out at all even though it was chopped. Keith also gave us a sampler of his hot links which really great. Will DEFINITELY be back to Elmer's!

Yelp
We've been coming to Tulsa for a while now and just found this spot. It did not disappoint some of the best BBQ we have had and Keith was awesome. His service was great and the ambiance was nice with BB King playing. He brought out extra ribs and added some apple pie for desert. A must when visiting Tulsa.

Cory B.

Yelp
Great ribs! Great sauce Owner is great. Smaller dining area Lots of blues stuff on the walls Sides were decent too.

Yelp
Amazing food and service!! I got the beef chop sandwich. It was very very good! Perfectly cooked not dry at all. We got the potato salad, baked beans, and Mac n cheese for the sides and all delicious. We will for sure be back!! So far best bbq I have tried in Tulsa!!! No pics because I ate it so fast I forgot.

Trevor R.

Yelp
There are a lot of good BBQ joints in Tulsa but Elmer's is hit or miss. When it's good it's great but when it's not I'm disappointed Ted I did t go somewhere else.

Robert C.

Yelp
Been years since I've eaten here but stopped in today for lunch had the rib and sliced brisket potato salad and green beans all was good green beans really good ribs tender and good taste sliced brisket super tender just not enough smoke flavor for me. Definitely worth a try

Yelp
Best in town!!!! Nicest guys and the best food! Highly recommend! I always come here when I can

Yelp
Still what I remember. Honest and true BBQ just trying to keep up. This place has been around a long time and I'm glad to see it's still going. I had the Ribs, Okra, and Beans and all were complimented by their great sweet sauce, very unique to Elmer's Would always recommend, support them when you can

Shannon S.

Yelp
Elmer's BBQ is a solid part of my lunch rotation. The old location on 43rd is gone and now Elmer's has had a great spot at 3316 S Peoria on Brookside for the last few years. Always solid and fresh. Get there early! Keith will hook you up.

Yelp
Food was good. I walked in on a Friday afternoon and got the chopped beef bbq sandwich. Service was good. Enjoyed my meal.

Yelp
I loved how this place felt. It's like you walked into a blues museum. The aesthetic worked perfectly. When we walked in, we were met by the owner walking out of the back. He explained that he came in that morning with both of his cookers down in a 30 degree morning, and he had to close for lunch. Not a good day for a BBQ man. We were the only customers that had come in for dinner the whole time we were there other than one pick up order. Seemed like it was just a bad day. The barbecue was serviceable. I'm pretty picky when it comes to smoked food. We had chopped brisket, ribs, potato salad, and beans. Beans were great, the potato salad was a hybrid of mashed potatoes and a traditional potato salad and it was served cold. It was a fresh take and I liked it! The ribs were very tender and held to the bone, but the bark was too much- like it had gotten a burst of heat it shouldn't have. The brisket seemed well cooked but needed more flavor. I'd have preferred he just slice it and hand it off. He had three sauces, all of them great. I'd go back again. I loved the atmosphere and the owner was very nice. In terms of quality, I've had better in Tulsa. I'd come back to see what the place was like when it didn't have to close up for the majority of the day, though. It's a shame he was having problems with the smokers.

Tracy D.

Yelp
Don't waste your money! This is a 2 meat potatoe. No meat, no ranch dressing. I should have went to Leon's, but, they were closed! This was a waste of time and my money!!

Yelp
Fabulous BBQ, wonderful service, and blues music and decor! The owner is very friendly and great to chat with.

Yelp
Best BBQ in Tulsa hands down!!! Been coming here for years and drove from Florida just to get a Badwich and a few pounds of meat to take back! Highly recommend RoRo and Kieth are second to none when it come to this business!!

Samantha C.

Yelp
Ambiance was great. The place was clean. And the service was amazing. You you're looking for authentic BBQ definitely check this place out. Will come back.

Chris ..

Yelp
Great conversation, great service, great location and the best BBQ you'll have, period. Keith is THE man. I moved away a couple years ago and Elmer's is now always my first stop when I'm back in town to visit. Get the Badwich w/ hot links + a side of fried okra and mac w/ a sweet tea.

Michael Z.

Yelp
Incredible BBQ! We were driving from Wyandotte Oklahoma to Tulsa airport. Someone said we must eat at Elmer's barbecue. Let me tell you this was the best stop we made in our whole trip for food. Elmer himself was behind the counter serving up some of the best barbecue we've ever ever had!

Michael P.

Yelp
Our family has been eating Elmer's BBQ for a long time. We love everything about Elmer's BBQ.

Keisha A.

Yelp
Texan here. Food was fantastic, owner is beyond the moon good at service!!! Blues music channel makes it a rounded out perfect spot!
google avatar

Trinity Yoga S.

Yelp
Ordered chopped beef and beans and coleslaw and loved everything! Baked beans were some of the best beans I've had. They are sweet, so if you don't like sweet you might disagree.

Beth M.

Yelp
This was a great find. Portions were just right and meat was tender. I got the bone in chicken. Potato salad was awesome too. Keith, the owner, was so friendly. Next time I am in Tulsa I would come back.

Dean B.

Yelp
Not only is it great barbecue but on the plate, you can get a mixture of different meats. The worst part is that I couldn't finish it. Everything was so good, but there were so much of it I left full and happy. Hope to return to Tulsa for another plate.

Yelp
I grabbed some takeout from here last nought. The owner was super nice and helpful. We had pulled pork, pulled brisket, and chicken. All of the food was delicious. We had the baked beans and literally were fighting over them to get the last bite.

Aaron S.

Yelp
Stopped in here with my daughters. The service was excellent, very friendly and welcoming. The food was great. They liked the sides as much as the meat! (beans & corn in particular).

Yelp
So Friday we stopped in, first time even tho we've heard about the BBQ for a very long time. Picked up some baby back ribs to reheat the day after during the college football games. Ribs with the sweet sauce were reheated as per the instructions provided by the Elmer's staff along with potato salad and fabulous Cole slaw. Could not have asked for a finer meal. The ribs were tender and the extras were great. Will most definitely be returning to try the other options from their menu.

Yelp
#fatjared say...the hole in the walls may not be appealing to the eye, but DAMN this BBQ is AMAZING!! For starters, this place literally looks like you walked into an old school 40's diner!! It's seat yourself, super chill, and the staff will greet you openly! The lady who served us at the bar had been working there 37 years!!! She's 81...and asked us to call her momma!! I wanted to hug her . If you know my reviews, you know I LOVE tasting things! I forgot to take a pic of the menu, but they have all the best options BBQ wise! They put some serious love and care into the meats. Everything smoked to perfection! We got the Nelson plate...beef, pork, ribs, and links! It comes with bread and 2 sides. GOTTA get cole slaw it was super tasty!! And I was about to be disappointed and only give 4 stars because they didn't have mac and cheese on the menu, BUT I ordered it and "momma" said she could get it for us!! They even have hidden menu items...SCORE! They have 3 different sauces, sweet, spicy, and a mix. The spicy won't kill you and they all have amazing flavor! Sweet was actually my favorite! When you add them to the meats it literally doesn't make sense! The ribs fall off the bone, the pulled pork was still moist, the links were crispy on outside and tender on the inside, but man that shredded beef was RIDICULOUS! Some of the best I've had! The chef came out and started talking to us, and he says "you know you got a real BBQ place when they make the sweet tea right in front of you!!" You may as well have been drinking sugar, just what sweet tea should be! Bottom line, don't be scared of the look! Go in, pick your favorite meat, or try a bunch of everything, it will be good I promise! Thanks momma!! 37 years and still making people smile!! :)

Yelp
Awesome bbq! Very authentic and genuine. Great service and friendly workers! Inside is very homey and fits an old school comfort-vibe well.

Yelp
Love this local staple. I was introduced to Elmer's in college and love to stop by when I'm in town. You walk in and seat yourself they're menu has everything from chicken and pork to even smoked salmon if you're wanting to feel a bit healthier when you walk out! Their sides are so good that it's hard to pick just one! My two favorite are their corn and beans. Their corn is so soft and with the butter it literally is so juicy and good!! Their beans are sweet they aren't your typical canned beans these are good i promise. My husband really enjoyed the green beans but I've never tried them. Their bologna is great and tasty what makes it even better is their homemade from scratch sauces! They're so fun to mix. The red bottle one is my favorite it's a mixture is sweet and spicy. The interior of this place is filled with vintage signs from B.B. king to Tulsa stuff. It's just a great feel good and eat good food type place. The service you receive is great the waiter is always the kindest man and just is cheerful! He never lets your tea go empty which that's another thing, if you get half and half sweet tea it's plenty sweet!

Andru H.

Yelp
Great service and even better food. Keith is a good man. Completely cleaned out the plate.

Nancy M.

Yelp
First time today at the new location, and happy to say it's still the same great BBQ. Love the blues music that they still have going, and the photos of blues legends on the walls. Its counter service now, which is different than before, but it works. Will definitely be going back.

A B.

Yelp
Great food, great prices, great service. A very personable, quaint little place to casually eat barbeque with friends, family. Casual and easy. The green beans side dish is really delicious. Cannot say enough positive things about the attentiveness of the service we received, while choosing our menu items - a lot of pride is evident in this restaurant. Definitely check it out if you're in the mood for casual, easy, quaint, local barbeque!

Yelp
Badwich is so good! Sauces are awesome as well. The place has moved down the road and much smaller than before the pandemic. Owner and staff are very friendly. Old school great bbq.

Tyler G.

Yelp
We had Keith at Elmer's smoke us a whole brisket for the Oklahoma / Texas game. We had about 25 people over and everyone agreed it was probably the best brisket we had ever had. Keith was 100% all about customer service and was great to work with. Thanks Elmer's. You have a new customer for life!

Yelp
I'm so happy I looked up top BBQ restaurants, because I wouldn't have found this gem. My parents wanted "really good BBQ," and of course I'm a vegetarian and my husband no longer eats red meat we aren't well versed in the BBQ department. Thanks to Yelp Elmer's was listed as number 1 or 2 as suggested places to visit for BBQ. Upon walking in I knew I chose the right place, we were promptly greeted by a kind lady who told us to seat ourselves. The restaurant is filled with collectible blues memorabilia, take some time to look around. My parents and son absolutely loved their orders, and I enjoyed my time there speaking with the owner Keith. My mom said her ribs were just fall off the bone good, don't short yourself on the sauce, and the sausage is perfect. My husband was impressed by the smoked salmon, turkey, and chicken options; he really enjoyed his sandwich. There was a couple whom traveled from Arkansas to try Elmer's and they continued to rave about their ribs, bologna, and the sauce (that's made in house by Keith.) Moving forward I will always treat my BBQ loving guests to Elmer's; I highly recommend. *** Make sure to check in, you'll receive 10% off your order of $10.00 or more ***

Yelp
We bought some chopped brisket for Christmas dinner from Elmers. They just reopened in a different location this past week. The brisket is fantastic and the mixed sweet/spicy bbq sauce was very good! We will definitely be back!

Frank S.

Yelp
Food was wonderful! Food was excellent! Service was top-notch! Loved the atmosphere with the Memphis blues theme!

Yelp
Elmer's BBQ is a company fave. Great food, and exceptional service. Food is delicious. We used the company for a corporate catering order and everyone was pleased, will definitely eat there again! The rib literally could be pulled off the bone with little to no effort, and their sauce is awesome!

Yelp
I need to preface my review with a few things, I know a little bit about BBQ because I judge BBQ competitions, I'm a backyard cook, and I eat a lot of BBQ. Also, I'm cheering for them because they're a Tulsa staple. A lot of my ideas of how the meat was cooked is speculation. The fried okra was good. It was crunchy and not over cooked. The spare rib was good but there wasn't a nice bark or crust on the rib and there wasn't a deep smoke ring on any of the meat. The brisket had a thin bark on there, but it was overcooked and dry. The pulled pork wasn't really pulled. It was cubed and dry. The bark wasn't really bark it was essentially dryer pork. I speculate they smoked too hot, not long enough, and the meat didn't pull apart so they chopped. I understand that restaurant BBQ is different than competition, but restaurant BBQ is supposed to be good eating. A few examples, brisket can be over cooked but it needs to be moist and flavorful. Rib falloff the bone is good eating. Elmers has been in Tulsa for quite awhile and has a mom & pop feel. The walls are decorated with a lot of old Jazz memorabilia. The meat didn't really have a nice rub flavor or crust. For doneness they didn't hit the perfect window. The spicy sauce is spicy and great. I would say Emers is worth a try. The portions are generous and the prices are pretty reasonable.

Lacy C.

Yelp
Loved this place! Neat little local spot tucked into Peoria, and more people should've been in there! We loved the unique potato salad in addition to the BBQ. Cool music and decor on the inside as well! 5/5

Jeff S.

Yelp
Just had a large gathering at my home and had Elmer's BBQ cater the event. The food was exceptional! Everyone raved about it. Will definitely use Elmer's at my future events.

George W.

Yelp
Looks like they have reopened just north of their old location. Looking forward to getting some Q when I am in Tulsa in November.
google avatar

Chris S.

Yelp
Let's be honest. Tulsa does not have great BBQ. If you're from Texas and you drive north you're going to be disappointed. Fortunately, Elmers does exist and it offers some of the better BBQ in the city. I put this about par with Big Anthony's another one of the city's better BBQ joints. Neither are going to blow your socks off but are the best you're going to find around here. Elmer's is a place that offers a comfortable experience and what seems like a complete family atmosphere. While I'm not a 100% sure it seems like some of the family's kids were servers, the parents ran the place and grandma was in the back cooking. You'll find excellent service. We did what we always do when we eat barbecue and that's order far more than we can eat just so we can try everything. Smoked sausage isn't normally my favorite meat however they do a very good job with theirs here by adding a little bit of a bite to it. It's not spicy but definitely has a kick, which brings a lot of flavor to the sausage. The brisket did not have a lot of flavor but it was tender and didn't have any fat on it. The pulled pork was better than we expected. Rather than dry like it normally is it was very moist and brought plenty of flavor with it. We also tried the turkey and it was pretty good. It was fairly moist and something we'd order again. They offer three different BBQ sauces here and make sure you know that these are BBQ sauces and not ketchup and mustard. For example, the red bottle is their spicy barbecue sauce not ketchup. The yellow isn't mustard rather a mix of their spicy and their regular. Meanwhile, it's not spicy at all. The white top is a regular and somewhat sweet sauce but it has a completely different flavor than you've ever tasted at a barbecue restaurant. Try to figure out what it is. The owner told us but it's not something you'd find in any BBQ restaurant rather an ingredient that most people use to cook desserts. As for the sides they're pretty average too. We tried the baked beans which were brown sugar based and the corn. Fortunately, they don't douse the corn and butter before they give it to you. The Texas toast that comes with the meals is simply white bread that's toasted. And the coleslaw isn't bad either. They don't have many desserts on the menu which is uncommon for a barbecue place. We ordered the peach cobbler and it was clear that the peaches work and rather than fresh. Meanwhile most people wouldn't even notice this. In short, if you're looking for BBQ this is going to be one of your better options in Tulsa.

Yelp
Visiting friends in Tulsa for the weekend and this is the first place we stopped at. Being lovers of bbq, had to try the acclaimed best bbq. We got the badwich which is a combination of different meats that comes with texas toast. I loved the chopped beef, sausages(regular and hot), and bologna. The bbq sauces were great, especially red bottle one. I was disappointed in the rib, which was a bit dry and that was the big reason making this a 4-star instead of 5. We also got green beans and fried okra for sides, which were delicious. Would definitely recommend!
google avatar

James L.

Yelp
Had the pulled pork bbq sandwich and the potato salad! Excellent choices! Their bbq sauce is absolutely incredible! And the pork was perfection. Friendly staff and very attentive! Definitely worth the stop!
google avatar

Cate F.

Yelp
We ordered a half rack of ribs a few days ago that I was honest to God, blown away by. The quality of the meat was fantastic, and the scent of smoke lingered into my house every time one was reheated. (One was later added to a pot of beans.) Their corn on the cob is SWEET thank you, Lord Jesus. The first time I tried their mild barbecue sauce - the flavor straight punched me in the face and I blacked out and saw an angel.
google avatar

Zachary W.

Yelp
Probably the best BBQ joint in Tulsa. The first place I ever had BBQ/smoked bologna and the only place that I feel really does it right. Nothing is over seasoned, allowing the smoke and natural meat flavors to come through. Sauce is always on the side, stick with the mixed or hot, sweet is just too sweet. First time visitors NEED to order the Badwich, which while advertised by as a sandwich, really is more of a plentiful helping of meat (bologna, hot link, brisket and rib), with some bread and two sides. This will allow you to appreciate Elmer's to the its full extent. I've been back for dinner or lunch (getting the bologna sandwich) and have even used them for some catering. All sides are pretty good as well. Green beans and baked beans both of nice chunks of meat in them. Potato salad is an interesting take in that it is mashed. I don't eat coleslaw so I can't review that. Corn on the cob is available for those who don't want meat in their vegetables, but if that's the type of person you are you shouldn't be going here. Service is also friendly and fast, especially now that all orders and payment are done through a smart pad like interface.
