The Spots Of The Summer, Chicago Edition - Chicago - The Infatuation

"The Salt Shed just added a Dave & Buster’s-style arcade to its reasons to visit the Goose Island venue. Elston Electric’s massive game selection is friendly for whether you just want to play air hockey or master Apollo 13 pinball. And the food and drink would make Charles Entertainment Cheese weep. Get a birria taquito with a graham-cracker-tasting cocktail that comes with a mini Jäger bottle. No concert ticket needed for entry." - nick allen, john ringor

Elston Electric, Salt Shed’s new arcade bar, debuts | Eater Chicago

"Situated in the salt factory’s old boiler room which powered the entire building, the new venue will be open before and after concerts and is described by its backers as a family entertainment center with seating for about 100, including a patio. It will be an all-ages space by day and one that will focus on adults at night with jello shots and other hijinks; “The jello shots are special,” says Jim Zespy — not “the kind stuffed into a paper cup and served at a frat house” — and because of the space they’ll also serve boilermakers, with non-alcoholic beverages available as well. The food will come from a Pizza Friendly Pizza concept tied to Bruce Finkelman; “People will make a whole night out of it,” Zespy says. The library will be built to about 110 games, a mix of classics, some of the hottest new titles, and rare Japanese imports; Zespy will leverage connections he’s made at Logan Arcade to snag exclusives. It won’t just be video games and pinball: Zespy says he’s recently been immersed in a game called “Chicago Coin Championship Baseball,” an electromagnetic game released in the ’70s, and there may be room for the world’s largest pinball machine, an Atari game called “Hercules” that’s about seven feet long. Skee-Ball, Pop-A-Shot, and VR games will be available, and customers can earn tickets and trade them for music-themed prizes (for example, a fancy Lemmy action figure). The space will include a studio for live streaming, opening the venue to Esports, podcasting, and more; as Zespy puts it more broadly about the scene, “What Detroit was to cars, Chicago was to games — 100 percent.”" - Ashok Selvam

Been here twice now for some games before a show and after and both times were so much fun!!! Tons of games and felt big and spacious enough to enjoy the games as we pleased. Never any wait and lots of seating options. Staff was so kind and place was well kept. Definitely a must if you’re in the area before/after a show at the Shed!

This was my favorite spot on our Chicago trip. Drinks were good, prices for the games was fair. Everything worked well, but I did find that the pinball machine legs were tighter than I like.

this spot rules! great for groups of friends, dates, and families. the layout is awesome and you can tell lots of care went into every detail, from the trash - recycling - compost, to the bathroom considerations, to the jukebox. also has the most elevated and delicious jell-o shot i’ve ever had. staff is super nice. a must visit!

Wow, what a spot! Took my 4 & 5 year old here on a weekday evening and we had a blast! My kids didn’t want to leave. Retro, cool, throwback ambiance with a sunken bar and amazingly comfy bar seats! Good drinks! Awesome concept having the arcade in the restored Salt Shed building - would highly recommend!!!

Elston Electric is hands down the best way to kick off a night at the Salt Shed! Why stand in line when you can grab a drink, play some arcade games, and stroll right into the venue through their connected back door (with a minimum purchase)? The vibe here is on point--laid-back but buzzing with pre-show energy. The staff is awesome, and Matt, our bartender for most of the night, absolutely crushed it. Great cocktails, fun shots (including a wild one with a relish back), the coolest-looking Jell-O shots, and even solid pizza to keep everyone going. If you're heading to a show at the Salt Shed, do yourself a favor--start your night here and enjoy every minute from the first drink to the last encore.

What a great experience! When we asked my son what he thought, he said, “I was so excited when we arrived, and so sad when we had to leave…” We just went on a Thursday just to go…but it could also be a great spot for before or after a concert! Classic games, New games and unique games! Very cool (chill) bar if you want to take a break from the game room! Everyone should go here!
