The 14 Best Armenian Restaurants In Los Angeles

"With long wooden tables, iron chandeliers swinging from the ceiling, and secret booths hidden among tiny alcoves, Old Gyumri’s space feels closer to a century-old tavern deep in the Armenian Highlands than a restaurant on a Glendale side street. It had been a long time since the last chance I had to have such a delicious Armenian meal. The eggplant was heavenly, the soup and the kibbeh just delicious. Also appreciated the fine decoration and availability of the staff to give recommendations. Will be back soon!

If you want to have a nice home-away-from-home and a warm backyard party this is the place for you. We went there on Sunday July 13, 2025. The food especially the BBQ meats all fresh. The live musician was talented and the server Luiza was spectacular and very attentive. The hospitality was amazing and we will definitely be back!

Google
Service here is great. They have private rooms where You can sit just sith Your party. Khinkali was really good quality, however LulaKebab was absolute disaster, very poor quality Lula and Tabuleh was not authentic either! When I was leaving guy asked me to pay parking 13$ even if I didnt use Valet. I think I will give another chance for this place, but Lula made me very upset.

Google
The food was fabulous and the atmosphere was iconic. You definitely feel like you are dining in Gyumri! I highly recommend the shish kabob meal! Be sure and order Hummus also! The Armenian coffee was also very good!

Google
8-13-21 ★ ★ Totally agree with the negative reviews below, lack of customer service and overpriced. Small portions, burnt food. The eggplant spread (ikra) tastes great, everything else not so much. But their prices are like at an upscale restaurant. It feels like they have some special customers and they really don’t care about anybody else. P. S. The Armenian salad (to go) was a decent size, and the tomatoes tasted great but the cucumbers were 👎🏻👎🏻. Also too much onion. Piti (soup) tasteless, $15 is a ripoff for this size and quality

Google
A+ lunch order. Beef lule sandwich Or Chicken kebab sandwich (Not Chicken Lule) No red sauce No white sauce No any sauce EZ onion Ask them to not overcook the meat

We had a great experience at this restaurant. The hall is elegantly decorated, creating a beautiful atmosphere. The food was absolutely delicious, and the service was outstanding. DJ Tatul kept the energy high throughout the evening, making it a fun and memorable night. The staff were all incredibly friendly and welcoming. I highly recommend hosting your celebrations here.

Came here to celebrate Valentine's Day with friends and had such a great time thanks to the amazing service. Their outdoor seating had really cute decorations and a dj, i wanted to sit outside but was afraid of the cold weather & they braught us 2 heaters!!! Thank you so much. Can't wait to come back for the yummy food

Yelp
I couldn't be happier with this place. All of the food 10/10 very comforting and really fresh ingredients. Taste like grandma made it. The ambience is nice the big outdoor patio is suuuper relaxing with a pretty waterfall and good traditional music playing. Best part of all was our service, Luiza did an outstanding job and made everything so pleasant for us!!

Yelp
To say that coming here was a unique experience is an understatement. My family and I walked in around 6pm with a reservation. We walked into the establishment and we were greeted by a server (quite handsome man but clearly some cultural differences) who not only seemed like a deer in headlights but also seemed surprised that we were there and surprised that we had just walked into the restaurant. We felt like we weren't allowed to be inside. There was a slight odor of cigars and everything was screened off as if to indicate that we had walked into a very private, high rollers-only casino. We were quickly asked to turn around back outside and ushered to the outdoor area (that was only accessible through the parking lot) where there are 6-person tables each with its own outdoor heater and fully enclose-able cabana. He pointed to a table that wasn't set yet (all the others were set already) which indicated some more that they weren't expecting us. It felt a little strange because we just really didn't feel like we belonged. However, once the table was set, we were seated at the table, the cabana curtains were closed and the outdoor heater was lit, it felt good. We figured this was just the way this restaurant operated. We ordered something they called a Dragon (?) Salad - it was basically a "salad" that consisted mostly of meat, some meat stew in a bread bowl, a few soups, rice, and what I'd call an Armenian charcuterie. All said and done, the food was all good! All of our favorites were that meat salad and then next was the meat stew in the bread bowl. All the food is pretty much family style with the exception of the soups. Those are served in individual bowls. I'd come back because there were a ton of dishes I still wanted to try. Just letting you know that the vibe is....well, unique., It definitely felt like most of the patrons were men and were there mostly to smoke cigars and drink vodka. We still have yet to know what exactly was inside of the actual indoor restaurant. We believe they probably had a private event.

Yelp
If you want to try authentic Armenian food, this place is it. The dishes tasted great, pickled vegetables, salads, ghavurma were to the point, and if you're into khash, then visiting this place is a must! Service was great, Milena was very attentive, helpful and nice. Overall a pleasant experience, for both large parties or just cosy ethnic dinner with friends. Please keep it up. Thank you for soul food.

Yelp
Food was amazing and cooked to perfection. I highly recommend the dumplings. Loved our server Luisa, she made our dinner that much more enjoyable.

Yelp
They recently changed their name to Elysée House. The whole restaurant was beautifully remodeled. The Greek Salad was fresh and delicious. I loved the lamb chops. They were very tender and flavorful. I had the Armenian Beer Gyumri and it was so refreshing. What a beautiful and delicious fruit plate they have for dessert. The booths are private. The staff was very friendly and welcoming.
google avatar

Nicole A.

Yelp
The food was amazing. Luisa was great. We loved the pork and beef kebab. We are definitely coming back.

Yelp
Wow, this place is glamourous and kind of expensive too. Took my girl and some friends to eat here recently, and I felt like we were in Beverly Hills lol. I was wearing a nice suit, and the ladies were all dressed up. I wanted the Lamb Chop Plate with veggies that only cost $30.00. Armenian salad is delicious. It does not taste any different than Greek salads. Nice owners and workers here are cool, and look pretty happy to be here. I'd love to visit these guys again next time in Glendale.

Yelp
Service is awfull, be careful while they bring your check, especially when you ordered alcohol and celebrate something they think you are already drunk and gave you another check with another orders

Rubina K.

Yelp
My mom and her friends were having xash and we enjoyed every bit of it. Food was very delicious and our waitress Luiza was super sweet. She was very caring and took care of us. Thank you Luiza you are amazing and we really enjoyed your company!

Yelp
Wow! The food is five stars, I took a star off for the smokey smell from another table. The oxtail dish and Armenian salad was out of this world! They use really fresh ingredients and the vinaigrette dressing is so delicious. Highly recommend. Milena was such a wonderful and attentive server. Thank you for making our first time here such a positive one. We are looking forward to coming back again soon!

Yelp
We had an outstanding late night dining experience here. The dishes came to our table at reasonable times; the wait was not long, but we were not overwhelmed either. The food was hot, and tasted fresh and well-seasoned. We got the eggplant ikra, the oxtail khashlama, khinkali, bbq sturgeon, and lots of fresh bread. Everything was delicious. But the highlight of our experience was the service, which I think was the best we've ever had in LA. Milena was extremely helpful and attentive. She helped us identify some of the dishes on the menu, clearly confirmed each item on the order, helped us figure out appropriate portions for our party size, and made sure we were well taken-care of. Looking forward to coming back with a larger party and reserving one of the private dining rooms!

Yelp
Very friendly and family atmosphere . We had my parent's 50th anniversary here and Luisa was our waitress. She was amazing . Highly recommend this place for small parties and friendly gatherings. Luisa was accommodating every special orders out of menus for us and the price was amazing too.

Scott W.

Yelp
Amazeballs. Are everything. Never forget this place. Taking my family when they arrive for the holidays!

Yelp
I really enjoyed the food and the service, but I have to say the portions were terrible , I want to give a 5 star rating, but I can't. We were 4 people and the 2 of us got something to share, so the other 2 ordered their own plates, which was pork and shish kebab, so that was brought on the table with no rice or grilled veggies, it was alacarte, like really where is the rice and veggies. I was very surprised. Not sure if I would go there again.

Vat T.

Yelp
There is NO customer service here, zilch. All workers are congregated at the corner of the bar. None of will greet you or in charge of your table. You are on your own. Prices make no sense whatsoever. Some simple a la cart small meat stew was $50? Others run $150? Why? In which world is this justified. For $25 you can have Raffi's complete meal. This prices are arbitrary. I regret ordering. Just out of curiosity for sure . The place is presumptuous. You suppose to make guests felt comfortable. Zero efforts on their part. The fancy interior is stone cold and uncomfortable and each table is segregated heavy floor to ceiling walls. Who wants to eat in fancy closet? No windows, no greenery, confined, isolated in this fancy marble 8 sq ft cage. Not a good idea. Food was all right but this was not a the overall experience one expects.

Zana Z.

Yelp
We celebrated a birthday on September 9 and ordered a banquet menu, we paid $100 per person and for all children up to 5 years old, the tables were half empty, we paid $2,000 and left. We were hungry, they promised us full tables, but in fact there was nothing to eat for 20 people, there was one Caesar salad, for 20 people there were two small plates of shashlik. We will never go to this restaurant again and I do not recommend you celebrate your holiday there, it ruined your holiday and your mood (((((

Yelp
Ow called Elysee House. They went through a complete remodel, added beautiful private, outdoor dining space. A must try for small dinner parties and traditional Armenian food you can't get anywhere else beside Armenia. The same menu as Old Gyumri. This is the place to get traditional, authentic, delicious Armenian food. Try their signature xashlama oxtail stew in home made bread bowl, or khunkali giant dumplings, excellent traditional Luke and shush kebabs, In addition to range of appetizers.

Yelp
Hello! I had a very good experience at this restaurant. It is Armenian, but the people also speak Russian. Our waiter was Masis, he was very kind, helpful and attentive. The restaurant is in an unmarked building, but the building next door has a street number on it, so it can be found. I parked on the street, but they have valet parking. The name is now Elysee House. We did not have a reservation and had to sit outside. Each outside table has a privacy curtain and portable heaters. We were comfortable and liked it. Indoors, each table is in a private room, with a door. Patrons receive a little buzzer thing to summon the waiter/waitress. So I am American, this cuisine was outside my experience. The menu is the same still as the Old Gyumri menu, but the prices are a little higher now. However, the total bill was reasonable given that we had drinks as well. I had sultani - a chicken kabob and luleh chicken, my wife had beef luleh. The meat came with a roasted tomato and a roasted long green pepper, plus rice for her and French fries for me. She finished her dinner, I did not. This dinner was very good! I will get it again some day, after I try bbq quail, marinated game hen, lamb chops, sturgeon and trout. I recommend this restaurant without reservations. ... Speaking of reservations, if you want to eat indoors, make one. ... See you there.

Jillian W.

Yelp
We had such a great night here! Masis was our server and despite not knowing Armenian cuisine very well, he lead us in the perfect direction. Portions were great and food was even better. He helped us select our wine and dishes and we could not be happier with our evening. Will definitely be coming back!

Yelp
I had date with my girlfriend in this restaurant, it was amazing, food is unbelievable!!! I was missing my home food and it's hard to find place where you may try it. Additional thank you to Masis he made my date perfect! Thank you guys so much!!!!

Yelp
Including tax and tip, an appetizer and 2 entrees racked up about $90 and I felt the experience could have been better for that price... There's 2 hour street parking and $13 valet parking in the small lot in front. We were able to get street parking on a Monday afternoon when they just opened for lunch, but I can imagine this place being tough get a spot at. The aesthetics and vibe of the restaurant are top notch! Very old school and traditional and our seating area had a tall spiked wooden fence that closed and some traditional artwork and pottery all around. It would have been pretty cool to explore around if we had the time. There's a call button at each table and the service was alright. Iced water was served with bottled water and ice separately, nice. We got the: 1) Stolichni salad: -it's a Russian cold salad dish with a veggie blend (I remember mostly peas and some carrots), minced meat (beef from what I remember) and sour cream and mayo dressing. -Honestly was pretty bland in my opinion, didn't have the distinct creamy sour taste that I associate with other cold salads like this -It went alright with the breads that were given to us. 2) Ker U Sus: -HUGE amount of freshly fried French fries on top of a decent amount of pork meat with sauce and green peppers. -The meat was a bit dry, even after being drenched in all that sauce. -Fries were good but you can never go wrong with that. -Not worth it for $25 in my honest opinion though, if I had to go back, I'd make a different choice for sure. 3) Khash: -Cow foot soup with garlic, lavash bread, and daikon. - I did not get a bit of the daikon in the soup, unless the flavor was just boiled in and the actual pieces were not in there. -Lavash bread was alright, didn't add much to the soup. -Meat was very chewy and gelatinous, something my partner liked but me not so much. -The garlic meaty soup reminded me of ramen broth, a bit rich, garlicy and meaty. But it wasn't as thick as say a tonkotsu or miso broth. We had to add a bit of salt and pepper to make it less bland as well. It's a huge portion of food we ended up taking to go, but I would rethink going back here again.

Yelp
This place is amazing when it comes to food & interior design! When it comes to customer service, VERY RUDE. especially the waitress with blonde hair and big fake lips. Very ugly attitude and person. She's very rude ask for different waitress if she is assigned to your table.

Armine K.

Yelp
I have been in a range of restaurants through different countries, and I can definitely say that one of the most amazing restaurants is yours. The food is so fresh and stunning, the service is of a high level, the manager is the most adorable person ever, the prices are pretty good. I highly recommend. By trying once you will fall in love with that complex of pleasure.

Arnist C.

Yelp
So, my husband usually goes here, but I had never been there until tonight! We went there with the family to celebrate our in-laws 50th wedding anniversary and what an amazing night! Beautiful place with great people and service. My first experience turned out great, I loved and enjoyed every moment of it. Besides the great food, Luisa was such an amazing individual with a great service. She is very professional and experienced. The place is amazing, but Luisa made it even more welcoming. Thank you Luisa!!!!

Svetlana O.

Yelp
Second time here. When we fly in from SF it's the first place we stop by. The food is great and service is amazing. Masis always makes good recommendations on what to order and you feel right at home. Both lunch and dinner are perfect - especially during good weather when you can sit on the patio.

Hermine T.

Yelp
Thanks for everything, everything was perfect, especially thanks Luiza , she was very nice

Yelp
Here we GO... So I went here twice for a family event and both times I was not impressed by the food. The ambiance and seating arrangement is decent, although the inside is pretty dark. We sat in a private room near the back since we had a large group (15 or so). I also noticed they have a nice outside patio/balcony area with private little tables. Since we were a large group, we ate family style, so I'm not sure if this has anything to do with the quality of the food, but I doubt it. The table was set with a bunch of appetizers including: salad, bread, olives, cheese, cold cuts, hummus, yogurt, eggplant, red pepper dip and some others. I must say the appetizers were not bad. My favorite was yogurt dip and the eggplant dip (baba ghanoush). The main dishes were not up to par. I am very familiar with Armenian/Russian/Persian cuisine and Old Gyumri did not meet my standards. We were served chicken, pork, and beef kabob as well as French fries. The French fries were perfectly cooked and seasoned, other than that, nothing was impressive. 2 stars for the ambiance and French Fries.

Alex L.

Yelp
Our server was Masis he was super nice, we got a private room everyone who helped us made the experience great for my grandma's 85th birthday. Food was great, Dumplings were great, salads were great and the chicken was super juicy. The Ambiance was great because we were in a private room. The whole restaurant was very nice. Great time to spend my babas 85th birthday!!

Yelp
Masis was the best server of all time. He was so nice and professional. The kabob, the dolma, and the bbq was so good. I highly recommend you come and experience what a wonderful restaurant . We sat outdoors, saw the sunset and danced a little on the dance floor.
google avatar

Nicole G.

Yelp
Refined ambiance, authentic food, and great service in "private rooms. Highly recommended for a planned or "impromptu date night

Alex H.

Yelp
Went to check this place out the other day, cozy outdoors seating with pretty good food. But older waitress lady had a terrible attitude, was rude, and seemed to have her own opinion on anything asked. Her attitude was bad enough to ruining dining experience. Will not be coming back untill she is there.

Yelp
Incredible experience & Delicious food! This place is an absolute Gem. I recently came in with my coworkers to celebrate and had such a great time that I haven't stopped talking about it to my family and friends. The service given to us by Luiza was incredible and so welcoming, I felt like family. The food was delicious, whatever you pick is going to be great and the vibe is so chill you really don't want the experience to end. The location is spacious and wether you're inside or outside there's enough room to enjoy your party privately. I can go on forever but Better yet try it for yourself. Take your family take your friends and enjoy delicious Armenian food. Cheers!

Yelp
I used to enjoy going there but 2 days ago we were there with a big group of people after my friend's' father's funeral. I know they have charged my friend for a full service plus a service charge that they did not disclose but honestly what is going on with your food service guys? First meal is beef with potatoes and for a table of 10 you are serving meet and potatoes that your waitress has to cut the 1/3 round potatoes in half to serve everyone ??? But that's not even close what they did for second entrée- one small fried fish- ONE. Fish for a table of 10 people!!! The fish came precut -4 cuts on fish so you tell me who should eat fish and who should not??? When people ask for mor fish they were told to pay extra for second fish??? I didn't take pictures of the fish and the table because it was a solemn ceremony but what a shame. Then when my friend calls them next day to complain about their service the owner shames her for complaining about their "top notch food and service" ? Shameful disgusting and low class Do not take your loved ones there. I would sue this business!!! Here you go little fishy fishy fishy Go shame your customers now!!!

Yelp
Amazing food great service and atmosphere. I brought my car to the valet very convenient. The food came fast and was amazing
