I just got done going to some community service (as The Wu said "we're for the children," so this wasn't some court mandated thing), and I had heard through IG that Elysian finally has a proper taproom to their brewery operation. I'm fairly familiar with most of their beers, restaurants, and taprooms, so I was looking forwarded to having one in my neighborhood. There's no such thing as too many beer options, right?
Well, it was a Saturday afternoon, and I arrived a little early. They didn't open till noon, but the server kindly let me hang around till it was boozing time. He had a Boba Fett motorcycle helmet, which basically makes him the coolest guy in any room. I bet he kills it lady wise, and I'm not being facetious.
The place is expansive, as it was a brewery before a taproom. There are round bar height tables, picnic tables, regular tables, and outdoor couches on the patio area. They have a few lawn games such as corn hole (worst name for a game EVER), and board games laying around as well. Its a very open set up, and it feels even more vast as you can look out onto the brewing operation, equipment, and numerous barrels. Industrial, which is how breweries should be IMO.
Well, I started off with the Fix Imperial Stout. Malty, and bold, just as a stout should be. Nobody likes a weak stout. Its like a missed, ill-timed slap when you're spanking you're girlfriend...am i right girls? Too much info? But I digress...
I also had the Chromakey Imperial IPA, and Loser Pale Bourbon with the former being amazing. Its aged in bourbon barrels, and has hints of the aforementioned, and with a twinge of sourness. It was so good I bought a growler of it on the spot (somebody got messed the F up that night). Its easily the best beer I've had since I've moved to Seattle, so kudos Elysian!
The service was amazing, but that could be because the place had literally been open for days, and I was the only person in the joint. No harm. The server was great, and he learned me every beer I had, and even gave me samples of others. This taproom has exclusive beers on site that I haven't seen at their other breweries. Its like that exclusive mixtape joints back in the day (CLUE! CLUE! CLUE!). Its worth visiting just for those beers.
I'm a big fan of this place, and recommend to anyone asking about a brewery in Georgetown to hit this one up first then start walking south to the other fine establishments (Machine House/Georgetown Brewing/Counterbalance...). I can't say enough good things about this joint. Welcome (Taproom) to the neighborhood! Salute!
