London's 14 Best New Restaurants Of 2022

" Bringing a restaurant from overseas can be a tricky ordeal. Will the quality remain? How will the menu translate—both figuratively and literally? And most importantly, does kibbeh travel well? For Em Sherif, the first UK outpost of the Beirut-based Lebanese fine dining restaurant group, the answer to all of those questions is yes. Located inside Harrods, the relaxed dining room is filled with shoppers offloading heavy bags, and non-shoppers who have travelled to Knightsbridge to try the best Lebanese food in London. From the thick, nutty hummus covered in sautéed lamb to the refreshingly yoghurt-heavy chickpea fatteh, the food is unlike anything we’ve eaten at other Lebanese spots in the city. And the mezze is well worth forking out some serious money for." - heidi lauth beasley, jake missing, rianne shlebak

The Best Lebanese Restaurants In London

"Em Sherif is a destination. When you finally get through the capitalist obstacle course that is Harrods, you’ll find a spacious dining room filled with people who didn't happen to just stumble across this spot after some casual shopping. The small plates are where it’s at. Your table should look like a game of Tetris with plates of swiss chard stuffed with citrussy rice, tomato, and parsley; crisp falafel balls; and bowls of tender aubergine fatteh that turns into a yoghurty, crispy, bready mess on your plate. It’s a meal that can easily set you back £150-200 per head, but this is the kind of food that doesn’t disappoint." - rianne shlebak, sinead cranna, jake missing

This blue-tiled dining room is home to some of the best Lebanese food in London, from the thick, nutty hummus covered in sautéed lamb to the yoghurt-heavy chickpea fatteh. Post-swim you probably aren't looking for anything too heavy and Em Sherif’s mezze is just the ticket." - heidi lauth beasley, jake missing

Em Sherif - Review - Knightsbridge - London - The Infatuation

"Em Sherif, located in the depths of Harrods, is the place to come when you’re in the mood to spend some serious money and eat some seriously good hummus fatteh. Part of the popular restaurant group of the same name, Em Sherif originated in Beirut and now has locations across the UAE, Egypt, and Syria that are renowned for fine dining and excellent Lebanese food. And its latest London spot lives up to the gold standard the group sets for elevated traditional dishes. When you finally overcome the capitalist obstacle course that is Harrods, survive four unsolicited spritzes of the latest Caroline Herrera, and arrive at Em Sherif, you’ll find blue and white tiled walls, mirrored ceilings, and a spacious dining room filled with people who didn't happen to just stumble across this spot after some casual shopping—because this is the destination. The atmosphere is relaxed, with friendly servers and an energy that doesn’t feel like they’re using tweezers to place edible flowers on anything in the kitchen. No one will bat an eyelid if you rock up in jeans and a t-shirt and we’re big fans of the fact that it doesn't feel too serious or fine dining-esque, but it also doesn’t feel like there's been any major attempt to make you feel like you're not in a department store. The food, however, will make you forget all about the Canada Goose jackets that are still within eyeshot. And that you’re paying £16 for the hummus. LDN Guide London's Best New Restaurants Of 2022 Unlike the various other locations where you'll be restricted to a set tasting menu, in London you can choose whatever you want—and it should be all the starters because the mezze is really special. From the thick, nutty hummus covered in sautéed lamb to the refreshingly yoghurt-heavy chickpea fatteh, it’s unlike anything we’ve eaten at other Lebanese spots in the city. Get a mix of the hot and cold starters and, while the grilled baby chicken and beef shawarma are solid options, don’t worry too much about the mains—the small plates are where it’s at. Basically, your table should look like a game of tetris with plates of swiss chard stuffed with citrussy rice, tomato, and parsley, crisp falafel balls, and bowls of tender aubergine fatteh that turn into a yoghurty, crispy, bready mess on your plate. So yes, it’s a meal that can easily set you back £150-200 per head but this is the kind of excellent food that you won’t regret spending it on. The Em Sherif twist on traditional classics also make the food here significantly more exciting than other high-end Lebanese places. Just don’t use the perfume hall as a shortcut to get here. Food Rundown Lamb Hummus A thick, nutty hummus covered in sautéed lamb, this is probably the best version of this dish you’ll find in London. The bowl will be wiped clean before you even have time to question if you really paid £25.50 for it. Kibbeh Sajiyeh This kibbeh is better than you. Don’t take it personally, it’s better than all of us. It arrives as five little golden patties with a crispy bulgar exterior, filled with perfectly spiced sumac beef and confit onion. It 100% needs to be on your table. Falafel You know that falafel wrap you got from Pret the other day? Yeah, the falafel here is so good it will stop you from ever being able to do that again. Crispy and light,it's a real winner. Fattet Hummus This might be our favourite dish here. A bowl layered with whole chickpeas, drowning in a creamy garlic yoghurt, and topped with toasted pine nuts and crispy fried bread. You won’t find this dish in every Lebanese restaurant and even if you do, there's a good chance that this one’s better. Spinach Fatayer Small three-bite pastries filled with a tangy, sumac-heavy spinach and onion, this is the kind of versatile delicious snack that can be eaten at any hour of the day. Fattouch This is a refreshing, delicious fattouch salad with a great ratio of leaves to crispy fried pitta." - Rianne Shlebak

Em Sherif at Harrods offers a strong Lebanese dining experience. The hummus, tabbouleh, mashed potatoes, kebab, and shish taouk were all well prepared. The setting is comfortable, the pricing is high, but the visit is still worthwhile.

Em Sherif at Harrods. The famous Lebanese restaurant founded by chef Mireille Hayek. The franchise is credited for putting Lebanese fine dining on the map. The London branch serves the similar menu of Lebanese traditional dishes. Elegant decor and good service.

I visited Em Sherif in Harrods today, and it was such a lovely experience from start to finish. The manager, Qusai, was extremely kind, respectful, and genuinely welcoming. Everyone working the evening shift was so hospitable and attentive, they made us feel comfortable the entire time. From the moment we arrived, everything went smoothly. Booking a table was effortless, and once we were seated, the staff made ordering feel easy and relaxed. They gave us time to look through the menu without any rush and were always nearby if we needed anything. It truly felt like they cared about making our first experience special and they did just that. Everything about Em Sherif tonight was warm, professional, and perfectly organised, a true 10/10 experience. I’m already looking forward to visiting again (and again)!

My visit to Harrods’ Lebanese Em Sherif restaurant was a delightful experience. The food was absolutely excellent—rich in flavor and impeccably prepared, offering an authentic taste of Lebanese cuisine. Loubna, the manager, stood out for her exceptional hospitality; she was both friendly and highly professional. She ensured every detail of our dining experience was perfect, making us feel warmly welcomed and well taken care of. The ambiance of the restaurant further enhanced the overall experience, blending elegance with a cozy, inviting atmosphere. I highly recommend this restaurant for anyone seeking a memorable dining experience with outstanding service and delicious food.

Food was too good. I forgot to take pictures of all the dishes. My go-to Lebanese restaurant wherever I go, tastes like home. All the mezzes are super yummy : hummus, baba ghannouj, mutabbal, fattoush. We got sujuk and fatteh, it was amazing. For mains I got chicken shawarma 10/10, the Saj bread is a great choice instead of regular Arabic bread. We also got moghrabieh and it was delicious.

Google
By far the worst Em Sharif brunch! The worst service ever! Managers are fighting and arguing among each other and in front of the customers! Queues are full, tables are empty and they clearly do not know how to manage.. Even the food is not like other locations. This location needs an audit!

The food there is undeniably amazing. I was very hungry, but just tasting their dishes instantly opened up my palate. I ordered the lamb chops, while my friends had the chicken. The lamb was incredibly fresh and perfectly cooked. Just a heads-up—the chili can be a bit too spicy for some. Overall, it’s a great restaurant, though it’s somewhat hidden on the second floor of Harrods. You might need help from the shop assistants to find it. Also, it can get quite busy during dinner time, so I recommend making a reservation in advance.
