"There are two main differences between this Emack location and the other: it’s in Brooklyn, and the soft serve machine here isn’t really advertised. "Emack and Bolio’s belongs on any list of the best ice cream in the city, regardless of hard-serve or soft serve (in fact, we’ve put it on both). This Uptown institution can do most of their hard flavors in soft serve form, and we have a hypothesis that Emack and Bolio’s menu went through R&D with a focus group of particularly imaginative six-year-olds. This may explain the fact that you can order your ice cream in a cone covered in fruit loops and marshmallows. Our advice here is to be as outrageous as possible with your flavor and topping decisions. You’re eating ice cream, not choosing an insurance plan. P.S.A - there are locations on the UWS and UES, as well as in Brooklyn Heights and Fort Greene (but the UWS and Fort Greene don’t have any soft serve)." - Hannah Albertine

Google
Ice cream shop in Brooklyn, 741 Fulton st, near Ft Greene Park. So many flavors! All of them amazing! I tasted so many and loved them all! The passion fruit sorbet and toasted Smore's were 2 of my favorites, but they all tasted so good its hard to choose. They have some tables in-doors. They have Belgium waffles during cold months, add a scoop of ice cream! They offer coffee, cookies and lots of cones and toppings for your ice cream. Well worth stopping in after dinner and getting some ice cream for a walk around the park. They are open year round because any day is a great day for good ice cream and this is the best ice cream!

Google
Emack and Bolios has amazing ice cream, it is the only place I can trust to make proper ice cream cakes. Not to mention all the little bonuses, for instance it shows calories on the menu, staff will help you get an ice cram cake from the freezer, there is a water fountain in the shop, and so much more. It is just an overall amazing place.

Google
Im the mood for ice cream but found out they also had frappes. I’ve never found a place here in NYC where they would advertise frappes, so I decided to order one. I al very used to having frappes but the concept here in NYC it’s totally different from what I am used to, at least at this place it was. The frappe was good, refreshing and met my need at the time. However, would like if they were open to different ways of preparing frappes. The atmosphere is very welcoming and you can easily seat and enjoy. Would definitely like to try their cakes, they had a variety of them and they all looked very desirable!

Google
Great selection of flavors! I got the peanut butter Oreo special and it was delicious!

Google
Spacious and clean ice cream shop with excellent customer service. The strawberry ice cream is my go-to flavorful. The waffle cone is always fresh and tasty.

Google
One of the best ice creams I've had in a while! The staff was so kind! Get the cookie monster! 🍪

Google
Nice rich vegan ice cream. I found their small ice cream cup is overpriced for its size. Other than that, lovely flavors.

Google
Best ice cream in Brooklyn. We love their Spacecake and Toasted S’Moreo. We had it on a rice krispy cone, which was so much fun to eat! It’s always an amazing experience.

Manta K.

Yelp
Great ice cream and service. You will find some really creative flavors here like "space cake" and apple Brown Betty. They have some really unique cones with a cereal coating. The store is cute and cozy and the people working behind the counter are really friendly. We had the space cake and loved it. Plus the staff is really cool about giving samples for you to try! Highly recommend to check this out when you're in the area!

Yelp
There are limited ice cream/dessert spots in this area, so we decided to try Emack & Bolio's after our dinner near by. I love that they have the AC blasting on a hot summer day (THANK YOU!) They have a ton of flavors to choose from, but only let you sample 2. Most have multiple combinations in them. I ended up getting a flavor with oreo and cookie dough mixed into vanilla? ice cream. The sample I got had cookie dough, but the entire scoop I received had ZERO cookie dough....and the flavor was just overall quite plain. The texture is also not very creamy

Melissa A.

Yelp
Decided to stop in for treat, I went with the space cake on a waffle cone. The pieces of cake are yummy, but my portion didn't have much of the cake. The Ice cream was ok overall. I would come back to try other flavors. Cute spot with some seating, the service was standard. I would choose ample hill or baskin robins before this place. But I like to tryout places more than once.

Yelp
A cute little Ice cream shop. My friends and I visited here late on night seems like everyone enjoyed their choices. I got basic vanilla it was ok but It tasted homemade. They only allowed 2 samples so I really wasn't feeling to waste calories on one of the exotic flavours and be disappointed. Be mindful that they close at 10 we got kicked out at 10:01 which is reasonable.

Ken S.

Yelp
Probably the worst ice cream I've had in nyc tbh. The ice cream is ice-y and lacking flavor. Similar to Breyer's but a bit worse. And it's overpriced - $1.75 for whipped cream gets you canned grocery redi whip?? I'm not picky about ice cream at all but would definitely avoid.

Kyra G.

Yelp
Cute shop, kind of expensive but what ice cream in nyc isn't these days. A few benches inside and out but there's also a public seating area about a block away that's great for people watching too

Vanasha D.

Yelp
This is my second time visiting Emack and they have yet to disappoint me. If your looking for vegan icecream this is the place to visit, they have an array of specialty icecream, sorbets, cakes she cones for your delight. My go to is the the space cause in a sugar cone, you can't go wrong. The staff is super friendly and attentive, the store is spotless, cleanliness is not a issue for them at all. The best days to visit see during the day in the weekdays because the weekends the line is out the door.

Monique G.

Yelp
I am 1000% addicted to their "mud pie" ice cream. Wow! It's so good. My only complaint is the pricing is pretty steep.

Rachael M.

Yelp
I got the vegan cappuccino fudge which was excellent - great swirl and the fudge pieces were amazing. I wish they had more vegan ice cream flavors. When I passed by before, they had another chocolate flavor, but last night they only had this one and fruit flavored ice cream + a few sorbets. I'd love if you offered more vegan ice cream flavors to be more inclusive for everyone!

Ronny T.

Yelp
Good ice cream in interesting flavors. They have several locations with different names I think in NYC and definitely Boston. I recognized the flavors if not the name of the place. I had the crème de menthe Oreo flavor and was pretty happy with it.

Judy P.

Yelp
Came here last night definitely worth the drive place was very clean workers were very friendly and helpful i try 3 different flavors before deciding on which flavor to choose i opted for the blueberry crumble so delicious definitely will be added on to my icecream shop list whenever im in the mood for icecream

Courtney S.

Yelp
Five Stars!!! This ice cream was sooooo delicious. I got a double scoop, one of the blueberry crumble and one of the banana [something or other]. The quality of this ice cream was great and the staff was very friendly. They accept ApplePay as well!

Stephanie L.

Yelp
Tried the Space Cake, Bananas foster and Peanut butter. Fun, unique flavors, especially when paired with chocolate fudge or a chocolate dipped peanut waffle cone. Flavors could have been a little more pronounced, otherwise this was a solid place to go to for a sweet treat!

Edgygirl O.

Yelp
After being mistreated at Olea Restaurant, and experiencing unfairness from their horrid staff, I continued my Eve to the Ethiopian restaurant - where everyone was kind - and then to Emack & Bolio ice cream place. The server at this ice cream parlor wouldn't stop SMILING and being KIND and it warmed my heart, and gave me hope in humanity again after the horrid experience at Olea. I actually thanked him for being so kind as I felt tears coming to my eyes from again having such a good experience after the horror night at Olea. Their ice cream is yummy, rich, creamy with varied flavors and absolutely delicious! No wonder it's always packed! Great business deserve great reviews. Business with bad staff and owner as Olea who harass patrons do not. Give your money to the good places in the hood - luckily there are still a few and every day new ones come up!

Judah M.

Yelp
I just love this little spot, it's not really about the taste but more the vibe. My parents ain't never take my ass to get ice cream so for me it's like I'm parenting myself when I go here. Lots of fun ass names for different flavors. Very kid friendly place, lots of families. I got the vanilla bean flavor with a chocolate dipped ice cream cone. Its very cream, full of flavor and not too sweet. Just the right mix. Only complaint about the ice cream is that I wish it was a little more milky if you know what I'm saying. Definitely check it out and let me know if I'm tripping.

Suanne L.

Yelp
Emack & Bolio's serves up delicious ice cream, ice cream cakes, and specialty cones. Their location on Fulton, south of Fort Greene Park and north of the Barclay's Center is brand new. They re-opened about two weeks ago during the pandemic, with a take out window and all the menus plastered to the window. I believe they're open 1-8pm. My motley crew got the strawberry, Oreo peanut butter, cookie monster, and the Mississippi mud pie flavors. The cookie/chocolate lovers seemed very satisfied with their flavors. The strawberry was par. One thing I really appreciated was that I let them know that someone had a peanut allergy. They pulled the tub out of the case to assure me that the flavor I picked was allergen free. Then they scooped the flavors, then thought, took it back, and rescooped the flavor again to be triply sure there was no cross contamination with the peanut butter oreo that I also ordered. I also love that they have at least 3-4 vegan options, including some amazing sounding sorbets. We will be back! Shop local everyone!

Latiful A.

Yelp
Came in after a ramen dinner and MAN did this hit the spot. Might be biased because I was craving sugar but this place is perfect. I had a scoop of mud pie and the chocolate chip chunks were sooooo good. The coffee flavor was not over powering and the cone was just right. Definitely, coming back.

Fritz L.

Yelp
Oh man this is good. I'm sure glad I don't live closer to E&B. I'd weigh a zillion pounds. High class premium house made ice cream. It ain't cheap, but you never know where you be tmrw. Get 2 scoops for safety.

Gina B.

Yelp
Order their smores ice cream with the Nutella rice krispies cone it's the best thing ever. The cone rice krispies are so tasty and you can tell they were made that day. It's my go to dessert spot now!

Lyncee C.

Yelp
I took my children to try their ice cream. It was worth the trip! Not too sweet and I love the flavors

Kadeesha L.

Yelp
I was pretty excited to check out this ice cream shop and I have to say I left feeling a bit disappointed . It was just OK- the flavor was not really there for me in both of the ice cream flavors that I chose. Banana Foster didn't really taste like bananas, I also didn't taste any brown butter or rum. Just faint banana and some cinnamon. The maple walnut did taste like maple but it was just pretty lack luster as well. However 2 scoops for $6.25 is not terrible and they do have a lot of vegan options as well as low sugar & fat free yogurt.

Israt A.

Yelp
The quality of icecream here is super high like reaches the ceiling high. We had a scoop of the space cake and some raspberry flavor. The space cake was really good with pieces of red velvet cake--I loved it. The raspberry flavor with chocolate chips was a little underwhelming, I was left longing for bursts of raspberry flavor, a little tartness, SOMETHING! I also liked that the icecream was not overly sweet. The icecream is also kind of stretchy rather than icy. You need to show your vaccine card to eat indoors. Also I felt a little awkward paying because the staff was just standing there I wasn't sure whether I should move out of the way lol. But overall I would come back and try some other flavors!

Pasqual Paco T.

Yelp
When you think of ice cream shops this is the place you want to go. They have fun flavors they have different dipped cones. They have free water. This place has it all. And it was delicious.

Garima G.

Yelp
Treated myself with this delicious ice cream from @emackfortgreene . I went here regularly back in Boston but forgot how amazing the ice creams were . Both the flavors I got were creamy and sweet to perfection. chocolate addiction: name is apt. It was truly divine. blueberry crumble: this was my fave flavor and I would definitely get it again. This spot is conveniently located in Fort Greene and I can't wait to try all their other flavors.

Stef L.

Yelp
Wtf this place is amazing and delicious. It's been so gloomy during shutdown and with the summer storms and this freaking amazing ice cream cone hit the spot! Perfectly crispy waffle cone + a bed of deliciousness rice krispy treats + s'mores ice cream. Thank you for being so extra! You're literally making the neighborhood happier.

Abhishek M.

Yelp
Got the chocolate mouse with maple syrup flavors in a chocolate dipped waffle cones and loved both the flavors. A can't wait to visit the place again to try out the other favors.

Susan V.

Yelp
Came here a few times. My go to flavor was the blueberry crumble, forgot the exact name. Most of the other flavors seem to contain chocolate which I'm not really a fan of because chocolate seems to overtake everything taste-wise. The ice cream was good and the person behind the counter was nice but for what they charge, they should learn how to scoop ice cream properly. Last time I went, I didn't even get a full scoop.

Bella W.

Yelp
Visited this new location of Emack & Bolio's on a Saturday afternoon, and was thoroughly impressed with both the service and the ice cream. When my friends and I walked in, we were immediately greeted by the scooper, who was very enthusiastic about getting us the samples of the flavors that we wanted to try. After testing a few different flavors, I decided on a double scoop of the Blueberry Crumble and the Chocolate Peanut Butter Fudge Chunk. Both flavors were a bit crumbly; I wasn't able to get the double scoop on a sugar cone because they "didn't scoop well". Once the flavors began to melt and temper a bit, they were an exceptional creamy texture, but both were a bit icy when they were served, particularly the blueberry crumble (most likely due to its higher water content). Although the texture took a few minutes to hit its peak, the flavors were tremendously good. My friend tried two of the vegan flavors: raspberry sorbet and vegan chocolate pudding. The raspberry was not very good; it was gummy-tasting, as if too much thickener had been added to avoid crumbly textures. The chocolate pudding, on the other hand, was absolutely phenomenal -- extremely creamy and very, very rich. The temperature issues may have been a product of the location being very new and still working out a few kitchen kinks. Regardless, I am excited to return to Emack & Bolio's for delicious and generous scoops of ice cream.

Roy B.

Yelp
(Written by eight year-old twins) Great local ice cream store. Service is friendly. Really creative flavors and names (like Moose Prints, Grasshopper Pie, Space Cake). Cones a little sweet. This past Friday night we ate at City Point (see review for Wiki Wiki) and everything closed at 8PM sharp. (Why would you close dessert counters so early? Looking at you Ample Hills!). So we were so happy to see the lights on in the window on Fulton St. We left happy as pigs in mud holding a salted caramel chocolate pretzel cone and a chocolate cookie dough (which could use a little more dough - constructive criticism given with love). We'll be back!

Jeremy M.

Yelp
My go-to ice cream place whenever I'd like to make an order for home or drive over to Fort Greene.

Zi T.

Yelp
Sooo good, great flavors and of course the cones are out of this world. They don't put fudge or caramel on the actual cone which is kinda a bummer but it's good regardless.

Lane B.

Yelp
I'm not as crazy about this Brooklyn location on Fulton. Yes, it's new, and the service is friendly. But Fulton doesn't have the full selection of candy-coated cones, which was why we picked Emack's out of all the ice cream shops in Brooklyn. I got a chocolate and peanut dipped waffle cone with espresso ice cream. Again, I appreciated that the ice cream wasn't too sweet, but the flavor lacked dynamism and was also a bit icy. I wouldn't say my experience was worth the nearly $8 I paid. I would still come back if someone specifically requested that we go to an Emack and Bolio's. P.S. I haven't knocked stars off for presentation, but based on the look of the ice cream cakes on display, I would be hesitant to order one myself.

Stacey F.

Yelp
One of the best ice creams I've ever had. So many fun flavor options and cone options including cereal-crusted. More please!

Antoinette S.

Yelp
Only here to comment on the vegan ice cream!! I'm A little sad that the menu for Covid got a tad bit smaller. Their vegan coconut ice cream used to be the only reason why I came there lol. Attentive servers and very cautious, they are great! (&generous). Will be back !

Kenneth H.

Yelp
If you're looking for a place to get a cool ice cream in a hot summer day then maybe consider somewhere other than this first day training center for people who have never scooped ice cream before. Like, how hard is it to make a root beer float?

Joey C.

Yelp
Warning! I've been here twice for a scoop of ice cream in a fancy waffle cone. Both times I've been overcharged. Be sure to check your receipt vs. the prices on the wall. When I pointed out the problem to the employee they wanted to argue back. Single Scoop $5 Chocolate Cone $2 = $7 + NYC sales tax (8.875%) = $7.62 They were charging me $8.44. The first time I went there I was in a rush, so I paid without doing the math.

Joseph T.

Yelp
Great to see Emack and Bolio's in Fort Greene. They have a fun menu of ice creams including some vegan options. I had a few spoonfuls of one of the Stoneys dream ice cream. Quite a few options of waffle cones too.

Nadia S.

Yelp
i was so eager to try their vegan lemon blueberry swirl flavor and it exceeded my expectations! honestly, this might be the best ice cream i have EVER had. i really hope they keep this as a permanent flavor! the workers were also super nice and overall it was a great experience:-)

John M.

Yelp
20 minutes and $46 later, this is what I get for my son's birthday celebration Can't believe how sloppy this looks. Never again.

Amy G.

Yelp
So happy to have Emack & Bolio's just a few blocks away. We have been three times already and every flavor has been delicious! I love the Rice Krispie cones too! Great customer feeling and wonderful vibe! So far my favorite flavors (how can any be bad?) are: salted caramel chocolate pretzel, cosmic crunch, space cake and bean town buzz! Yum!

Me B.

Yelp
Awesome home made delicious ice cream Incredible handmade ice cream cakes I can't say enough about my guilty pleasure

Lara S.

Yelp
Excellent ice cream! Had a delicious scoop of vanilla nut fudge with a chocolate-sprinkle-dipped cone. The people here are really nice and thoughtful too. So glad to have a classic ice cream shop--what a great addition to the neighborhood!

Sarah D.

Yelp
Good ice cream. Lots of fun and interesting flavors. Happy to have them in the neighborhood!

Andrew S.

Yelp
A-W-E-S-O-M-E-N-E-S-S!!! Love the Matcha Ice cream flavor & Fun Rice Krispy Cones! Simply Scrumptious!

Ana W.

Yelp
Sm'Oreos slaps! love that they're open late, and they're across from a nice bookstore that's ALSO open late 10/10

J M.

Yelp
Do yourself, family, friends and colleagues an indulgent pleasure with the best ice cream, made into a beautiful cake! You'll be dreaming of this cake long after the last piece is gone. DELICIOUS!

Jen W.

Yelp
We love the ice cream here and really hope it sticks around! We have tried the regular and vegan flavors...both are rich and delicious. The prices are comparable to the fancy stores on Vanderbilt, so it isn't a cheap date...but the ice cream is more flavorful and is super creamy. We also appreciate there are seats inside, the staff are really kind and the lines are never long. This is the ice cream place Ft. Green has been waiting for.
