Ember's Deli

I usually have a great experience dining in at Embers, but my recent takeout order was a letdown. I ordered the Chicken Noodle Soup and received a container of just broth and noodles—not a single piece of chicken in sight. Between the missing protein and the "box mix" taste, it was a major disappointment. If this is the standard for their soup, I’ll be skipping it in the future. How do you have chicken noodle soup with no chicken?

Embers is absolutely amazing! The food servers are great! I always get a breakfast sandwich on a bagel! AMAZING! I go at least 3 times a week. Shout out to Lula, Riley, and Lily.

Amazing food, awful service. Regular doordash driver here, came in to pick up an order and place one. Was treated extremely rudely by the guy at the counter. Was told to sit down and wait without even being helped. Left without ordering or picking up the DD order. Won't be ordering here again and now your on my list for doordash. I won't pick up here unless the order is amazing. Certainly earned the 1 star guys. If your too busy to be polite, you should turn off your doordash orders.

I was hired to photograph some of their menu items and I actually enjoyed eating the reuben! The owner, his wife and their son are a delight. I can tell they have had regulars for many years. After 30 years of operating this restaurant, the owner Mr. Perkovic is still passionate! Very fresh and always delicious

Stopped by here for the first time for a take out lunch. Sandwich was good, plenty of meat, but wow! Expensive! One sandwich and a can of pop cost over $23. I doubt I will come back for that reason alone.

What a lovely establishment. I grew up in the area and ate here a few times throughout high school. This past weekend I ordered a catering tray which came out FABULOUS. The woman who helped me place the order was incredibly kind and the quality of the food was superb. All I have is a photo from after we ate everything but it was perfect!

Met my family for brunch. It was my first time here. I had tuna salad in a cantaloupe bowl. The cantaloupe was juicy and fresh. The tuna salad was good - not too much dressing/mayo and some celery (could have used more of that) and no onion, which is great because I don't like onion in my tuna salad! Server was very attentive but not overly so.

Visiting the area and stopped in for a sandwich, great place, friendly and clean. Great job ! Thank you again.

So, I got around to trying Embers Deli in Bloomfield Hills, MI. As usual for my first visit to a new deli, I ordered chopped liver on rye. Chopped liver takes Ashkenazi culinary skill and no deli sandwich can be great unless the rye is great, too. The liver was ok, *not* great. It had a subtle but unusual under-taste, like maybe a spritz of pickle juice was added. But it was still ok. I will definitely return to Embers to try their other fare because the service is excellent, just top-notch and the atmosphere is very, very haimish. It reminds me of all the Bronx delis we used to frequent in the 1960s and early 1970s. And the rest of Embers' menu looks good, although typical for MoTown a bisl lacking in variety, e.g., no kishke, no knishes, no schmaltz herring, etc. But for ambience, it's now my favorite in the region. And it was crowded, jam-packed with Landsleyt and allies on a Monday lunch hour.

Super friendly Family owned deli. Their Marilyn sandwich is one of my go-tos whenever I come back to the Detroit area. I would highly recommend it!

The food is just ok. Not much attention paid to quality. I can taste the generic flavors of the deli meat they use. Bread is good. Cheeses are terrible. Cheddar tastes like American. Low quality Swiss for sure. Soups are bland and have no soul. I can taste the food service soup bases they use. I live very close so I've tried this place many times. They charge for "EVERYTHING." Nothing special here. Steve's deli ridiculous prices without the quality. I've given up on this place and Steve's. I go back to my old school place Star Deli. Best soups. Best Sammie's. Best price. No longer in my loop to hit but worth the drive. Best cabbage soup ever.

The Reuben was spot on! A little pricey with just the sandwich at $18. Very cozy little upscale deli

Having been notified by Yelp that I should review a restaurant's salads, I elected to mention Embers, one of the few spots I would go to if craving a salad. The selection is abundant - everything from the Ember's Salad (apostrophe theirs, not mine), featuring corned beef turkey, Swiss cheese, tomatoes, cukes and a hard-boiled egg; to Mediterranean salad, to grilled chicken, tuna or Greek; plus a number of other options. I've had - and can recommend - the tuna slaad bowl, the grilled chicken salad, and the baby spinach. The other options look tempting as well. All that I have tried are more than adequate size, and come with rye bread, pita or bagel thins, and the diner can opt for an all-romaine salad (although this diner wonders why anyone would do this). I have had many other items from the Ember's very large menu, but can endorse their salads without hesitation.

I have been craving a good sand which from somewhere so I decided to try embers. I ordered a chicken supreme which is a grilled chicken breast with Swiss cheese, bacon lettuce and tomorrow on a bun. The service was fast and my food was fresh took about 5-10 minutes. There is seating indoor and outdoor. Also connected to a Kroger a Starbucks and other sites. I will say a bit pricey. My sandwich turned out to be almost $15 for JUST a sandwhich. It was pretty filling for the most part though and luckily it was pretty good 8.5/10 - I would definitely come back and try another sandwich, BUTTTT the price is the biggest downfall (F.Y.I. My sandwhich was one of the cheaper ones and it still turned out to be $14.69. Most sandwhiches START at $14.99 so be prepared to be paying at least $16/17 for a sandwhich... no sides or drinks included)

I have been coming here for years. My favorite part of coming here is for breakfast. The simple has to be the best corn beef hash! I like to get it with over medium eggs and a bagel. Also, the service and staff are excellent. Great place to dine at.

Honestly I really liked it! It was exactly what I expected and was looking for, and I have no complaints. I got the western omelette with ham instead of the corned beef, with a side of hash browns. A very standard and solid brunch, and I ate it all. Very reasonably priced, portions are great.

The food is very good and is a great breakfast to lunch spot. The waitress I had the last time didn't stop by the table very often and forgot a couple things. Seating is very tight so don't come if you have a large party.

My son loves this deli. I was at the urgent care next door and felt like some chicken noodle soup. Sadly the chicken noodle soup is very boring, it has no chicken pieces and no carrots.

Breakfast spots with plenty of outdoor seating is scarce around these parts so in these difficult times of COVID, I appreciate not only the tables with roof cover, but also the masked staff and COVID precautions/cleaning being taken so we can enjoy some sense of normalcy on a Saturday morning. All of these "extras" insure that the waitresses are hustling, so tip accordingly! Service was very good. Coffee refilled constantly. Buttermilk pancake are light and fluffy as you'll take half of them home with you. We also ordered the oatmeal that comes with a collection of toppings. Extra bananas and blueberries can be ordered for either dish for a small fee. I'm a fan!

It's very clean inside and there's lots of booths with a mirror on the wall. That makes it look more spacious than it is. I got the patty melt. It was a bit dry to be honest. Although the fries were pretty good (they were beef steak fries). They have outdoor seating to when it's summer or warmer out. The service was as expected, and I was satisfied with that.

Embers is staple in my community! My friends and I always get the chicken tenders and they're usually always crispy and the fries and cooked perfectly. However I took off a star because today they weren't as crispy.

Great place for breakfast and lunch. My favorite is pastrami on rye with Swiss cheese, coleslaw and Russian dressing.

Embers is a great local spot for breakfast and sandwiches . Me and my brothers meet here on Sundays all the time. The owners and staff are extremely friendly and on top of things. The egg white vegetarian omelette is one of my favorites on the menu, as well as the Tom Jon sandwich. They have great chicken vegetable soup and mushroom barley. I always get an order of the steak fries well-done that just hit the spot.

Solid Deli with friendly staff. They have great rye bread and they pile the corned beef on their sandwiches.

I love embers deli. I eat here 2/3 times a week. Family run place with good quality food and good quick service. Can't wait to be back

Meunster cheese is not the same as mustard. When I ask for Meunster cheese on my tuna salad sandwich, getting mustard instead is pretty unpleasant. And the chicken and rice soup? Mine was warm yellow water with rice & a single carrot slice.

Fantastic food. A little pricier, but you get what you pay for. The Bloomfield club with chicken is outstanding.

Service and food just ok. Smelled cigarette smoke during meal. Asked waitress to see if someone was smoking in kitchen (we were sitting in back). Heard owner say "they can leave". He then came out and told us "this is my restaurant. I can do whatever I want". I will NEVER go there again. Plan on calling Better Business Bureau as well

Was driving by and saw the good reviews so stopped in for lunch. Decent place. Not great, but good enough. Decor: updated, clean and modern. Tiny place, but not cramped. Clean large bathroom. Service: typical for diner. Not great, but efficient. Takes order, drops food off, brings bill. Almost got a smile. Food: Had soup and lean corned beef/pastrami sandwich with coleslaw. Soup: good. Not great. But good. Sandwich: good. Not great. Pastrami a bit dry. Corned beef could be moister. Skimped on the coleslaw on the sandwich. Tiny pickle for large sandwich. Bread good. Russian dressing tasted like from large can. Price: good. Don't upcharge for lean sandwich. Few dollars less than other similar delis. Overall good. Had better. Had worse.

Great local spot! Nice staff and good food. All the sandwiches are top notch and we've never had a bad breakfast here. Go to for a quick meal.

Why do their sandwiches taste like industrial cleaner? Don't they rinse after cleaning? Over $30 in sandwiches tasted like eating a janitorial supply inventory.

This restaurant is severely overpriced for basically being a coney island. Two omelette with hash browns was almost $40... yep, they charge an extra $4 for hash browns and $1 for cheese (in an omelette). Won't be coming back to this overpriced established, you'll have better luck with prices and food at a coney island or Little Daddy's. I get that they're a family owned restaurant, but cmon, my bill is always ridiculous here.

I ordered mish-mash soup. It was my first time trying it. Excellent soup and. Very generous serving.

We have been coming here for over 20 years. Here's what you should order. Anything with corned beef. Chopped liver is also great. Jewish rye bread. Russian dressing. Chicken noodle soup is strictly broth and noodles. If you want anything else and aren't interested in a really good Jewish deli go somewhere else.

Go to deli for breakfast through dinner. Great breakfasts including lox and eggs. Corned beef, turkey and pastrami sandwiches and salads very good. Embers is a long time neighborhood place that is welcoming and comfortable with consistently good food and service.

Great food and staff. I cater my lunches from here and the portions are very large. The meat and greens are always fresh, prices very fair and service is fantastic. One of the better delis around.

anyone who rates embers lower than a 5 has no taste . embers deli is a maple and lahser staple . the intersection would be nothing with out embers . i go to embers when i need a fabulous soup and salad/sand-which with great company and a simple but done so god damn well meal . god bless america and god bless embers deli

hunger pangs. we all have them. you know the feeling when you are so hungry that you could eat your left arm, yet have no clue what you are craving? you want an ember's vegetarian sandwich. i'm not even a vegetarian. in fact, i shudder at the very thought. i don't trust vegetarians. vegetarians are communists, carnivores are true patriots. (i'm clearly kidding.) seriously though, i don't shy away from flesh. i like my meat still walking off the plate. i always ask for my filet as blood rare as the chef will prepare it :-) this sandwich is really just that good. firstly, its best quality is its consistency. i've consumed literally dozens of these tasty creations and each and every one has been equally satisfying. the bread will captivate you. perfectly toasted rye. the vegetables? plied high. tomatoes, crisp cucumbers, sprouts, onions, lettuce. cheese. yum. dressing. i don't know what it is, but it's darn good. pickle provided. smile guaranteed. if you plan to dine there, i'll caution you that the setting is far from aesthetically pleasing. the restaurant is located in a strip mall and though always clean, the interior decor is mildly disagreeable. the wait staff, however, is always exceptionally friendly and the service is usually very quick. if i recall correctly, one of their waitresses has been employed there for 25+ years. so ember's is sort of like cheers...minus the beer & ted danson. do yourself a favor and plug their number into your cell. take out is ready is less than 10 minutes and makes for an easy lunch on the run. if you plan to carry out, one quick word to the wise: sometimes this old lady answers the phone and she is a little hard of hearing- if you have an unusual name, make something up to avoid having to spell your moniker slowly and repeatedly. i go by jane. i guess 'cheers' was an ill-fitting analogy. correction: ember's is a place where everyone knows your name...or alias.

Sigh. I've eaten at Ember's since I was a kid and it used to be so so so good. I feel like the owners are tired or gave up. The last few times coming here it just was so so. The meat is still plentiful, but not as good. The menu is still diverse, but sticky now. I don't know. Perhaps there are too many other choices out there and this one just hasn't aged well. It is okay for breakfast. Little pricey, but given the alternatives (uh... Leo's is the only one I can think of?) it'll do. I'd go back but only for lack of choice, not a craving.

Embers renovated last year and the place looks great, very clean and beautiful finishes. The wait staff are always friendly and the owners always thanks you for visiting. The food is deli style, with great kosher meats, but I love their breakfasts on the weekend. Embers has a lot to offer if you haven't gone in awhile, check it out again - you will be pleasantly surprised! I have to take off 2 stars as the dishes are often not very clean - double check your cups and glasses for someone else's lipstick before your drink!

Came here for lunch. It was a cold day so I decided a soup and sandwich will do. I decided on chicken veggie soup - was OK. For a sandwich I decided on turkey - pretty plain and turkey meat was dry. No wow factor here. Just a soup and sandwich. I'll definitely return to give them another try.

I was very impressed! The other deli's in the area should take note. Here is a nice deli with great food and very fair prices. Service was great and we were not rushed out during the busy lunch day.

Our office just catered a deli tray from Embers and everyone in the office was very pleased with everything. We used to go to another deli around the area but they raised their prices so we looked around for other options. Their price per person is very reasonable and the amount you get is great. We had extras for sandwiches the next day.

Loved the soup last Friday. I ordered the soup de jour - stuffed bell pepper, very savory! My husband had the chicken vegetable, and the broth was wonderful, chicken and vegetables were plentiful, including broccoli. My favorite place for soup.

I can vouch for nothing else on the menu, but I can tell you that Embers has been making a world class Spanish omelette for well over 20 years.

I have been eating here for many many years. The hours are tough these days to get there since the pandemic, they close at 3:00. Today I went and arrived at 2:35, placed my order at 2:40 for a veggie sandwich, grilled, minus the American cheese. The owner does not take any pride at all in serving the food, nor does he care at all about his customers or staff. I heard my waitress place my order with him. They brought me the veggie sandwich grilled with no cheese. Must mention the sandwich comes with American, Swiss and Munster. I requested no American. I also over heard the owner who was cooking today question the waitress a few times about the order. He had a tough time remembering the orders she was giving him. They then brought my sandwich back, owner placed 2 slices of cold cheese in my grilled sandwich. I asked if it could be grilled. They brought my sandwich back to the owner, for a third round, and shortly brought it back to me slightly warmed. Owner came out when I let the waitress know this was not what I ordered or how my sandwich usually comes. Owner told me to go somewhere else if I didn't like it and not to come at 3:00. Again I was there at 2:35. Owner is a horrible person. The waitresses really didn't seem to care either if my food came correctly. There are so many delis in the area to choose from. Hope this helps you to choose any other deli in the area. The owners comments were unacceptable. Obviously will never go there again. I ended up happily eating at Stage Deli.

The food is pretty good deli food, but the service has been sub par most times I've went. I was just here, waiting to be seated - a few waitresses walked by, couldn't say a word, then an older gentleman walked in and they offered us both "sit wherever"... a waitress promptly walked up to him with a menu and asked about drinks, I just say waiting for a couple more minutes before I left. Last time, our waitress forgot two items and then disappeared for 20 minutes after the food came. Just not worth if for the average food.

the fire is still sizzlin' among these embers... this is a place that fully embraces the notion that looks may be deceiving... upon walking in, it looks a little grungy... but hey, I didn't miss that week in 2nd grade when my teacher told me, "Don't judge a book by it's cover." Their chicken noodle soup is essentially chicken broth with bowtie noodles. Extremely plain, but gets to the point... now that's my kind of noodle soup (if you know me, you know that "wet meat" aka meats that come in soups freak me out). Kevin's Kreation, #11 on the menu is a tri decker turkey club. Some may just call it a turkey club, but that's because they forget to add the cheddah (r). You're gettin' REAL turkey here too folks, so no need to worry. It is a little pricey for these parts, considering Kevin's Kreation is 8 bucks for JUST a sandwich... but hey, sometimes you just have to give in and pay up.

I ordered a quart of soup over the phone and when I arrived to pick it up the man at the counter tell me the price is higher then what was listed on the menu. When I asked him about the price he said "prices are subject to change and I can change them whenever I want." When I told him that is not right he told me then don't take the soup. This guy was a total jerk and I will never be back.

Love this local place. Its been here for years and the food quality is terrific. The boss is always around and you know everything is always in order. Corn beef omelette is amazing! Also make great pancakes and waffles as well as french toast. Don't forget to try the bagel with fresh ACME lox! Only the best here :)

I've been coming here since I was a kid. It's consistently good, love the new decor and it's a perfect neighborhood deli for great value!

The place has changed hands a few times and it hasn't been updated in a while. We do love the corned beef hash as it has big chunks of tasty corned beef in it and the Reuben sandwiches are good too. It is not the Stage deli, but it has some good attributes.

I went here with a friend, and what I expected was a cheap, predictable deli. That was exactly what I experienced. The food was pretty much what you'd get anywhere else around town. They have Ruben's, grilled cheese, just stuff like that. The waitress we had forgot about my friend's request for chocolate milk and extra ketchup, and we had to go to the front and ask. Mediocre service.

Yum. I've only had carryout from Ember's since I work nearby, but it's always been delicious. I've only ordered the Reuben, and haven't regretted it. I'd say it's consistently been the best Reuben I've ever had. So much meat, but it's tender and very thinly sliced. Just had one and my stomach is happy.

They make some pretty good Ruebens here. Their corned beef is lean and they pile it on. The sandwich is actually large enough to split if you accompany it with fries or soup. The breakfasts are good but I really go here for one thing...actually two, as I have had enjoyed a few Dinty Moores here as well.
