Cozy shop baking bagels inspired by Long Island, available as is or as breakfast & lunch sandwiches.
"While you’ll find some of Atlanta’s best bagels here, don’t skip over the drink menu. If you look beyond the register-side cooler or your go-to coffee order, you’ll find that Emerald City Bagel offers a selection of housemade seltzers. Flavors include lemon basil, ginger, black cherry, cream, citrus punch, and a seasonal selection. If you see celery seltzer on the menu, it pairs well with savory flavors like an everything bagel with veggie cream cheese." - Laura Scholz, Molly Harris
"Emerald City Bagels has come a long way from their roadside stand in Cabbagetown. Stepping through the door of their brick and mortar location in EAV feels like a portal into another era, with workers in white aprons and white paper diner hats, making seltzers in house (try the lemon basil and add a shot of ginger). The whole place is very ’60s, with a wooden counter that looks like a fanned-out accordion, and gold posts that hold up glass dividers over that counter. There’s a variety of bagels, cream cheeses, and bagel sammies, so grab one of their signatures like the classic bacon, egg, and cheese on an onion bagel or create your own with their variety of toppings. "This mother-daughter team first began popping up at farmers markets before the duo opened their popular East Atlanta Village bagel shop in 2018. Slow fermented and boiled, Emerald City serves a variety of fresh, New York-style bagels daily, which often sell out before noon. Expect flavors ranging from everything, rosemary sea salt, and garlic to pretzel, jalapeno cheddar, and poppy seed. Top bagels here with whitefish, smoked salmon, and a variety of standard and seasonal schmears. Bagel sandwiches are also available. Keep an eye out for specials. Want those bagels delivered? Hit up the bagel fairy." - Beth McKibben, Molly Harris
"Emerald City Bagels in Atlanta is known for its kettle-boiled bagels and creative cream cheese spreads like garlic-herb and toasted almond and fig."
"Atlanta is no stranger to lo-fi bagels, with chains like Einstein Bros.—and even some local ones—popping up in every strip mall across the suburbs and the city. But when the bagel-loving mother-daughter duo Deanna and Jackie Halcrow opened Emerald City Bagels in 2018, they did so out of what they describe as necessity. “We couldn’t find bagel shops in Atlanta like we had living in New York,” the Halcrows told Bon Appétit at the time. “But personally, I think it’s catching on because people are returning to naturally handcrafted food items.” Sure enough, people caught on quickly to the charm of Emerald City. The cobalt-blue East Atlanta Village storefront, modeled after one of NYC’s classic appetizing shops, has become a destination for folks all over the city." - ByThe Bon Appétit Staff & Contributors
