First night in Chicago. Irish pubs are usually fun. We had salmon with mashed potatoes and Bangers and Mash. The Salmon came with some vegetables and Watermelon??? Interesting. The sauce was incredibly delicious. First you taste some sweetness and a little kick after. This plate I would definitely recommend. The Bangers were....ahhh. wouldn't order again. Our first disappointment of our Chicago trip, this place was right across from our hotel so we were eager to give it a try. We ordered a giant soft pretzel which was very delicious. The wife ordered a bowl of tomato soup which she said was good. I ordered a Nashville Hot Chicken Sandwich, was not what was advertised at all. Said that the sandwich should be two breast with the toppings listed in the picture below. It was not two breasts. Was missing toppings. The hot sauce was separate and did not have a good flavor profile. The chicken was very tough and hard to eat. It had zero flavor and when I say zero I mean zero flavor. The meat was hard to describe, but if you've ever had a chicken breast with the tuft texture, that's how this was. To say the least, it was a very lackluster sandwich. My fries were standard issue frozen fries, however they came out cold and with zero seasoning on them. Not even salt. Again, the other food was good with the chicken sandwich and the fries that came with it were not. We had to ask for salt and pepper and ketchup as it was not on the table already. even that didn't help my meal. In defense of the restaurant. The waitress did take the meal off of our bill. We ordered two drinks. One draft beer, and one mixed drink. Margarita which I believe was raspberry flavored. My wife thought it was very tasty.

Saw some people coming in after work in business casual, saw couples on dates, or like me and my friend just stopping by after walking around the city. Our waitress was very friendly and the servers were alright. The inside is dark and dimly lit which sets a nice night vibe. The food was as expected, not amazing fine dining but also not bad! I would come again for a casual going out night.

We had the brisket nachos and corned beef sliders before a show at the Chicago Theater. Food was delicious! Service was so so. Atmosphere was a typical pub restaurant. Very interesting history about the building.

Stop in. For a quick late night bite and a drink. Had their version of an old fashioned very delightful. Also their sausage rolls and fries which both were delicious. Sausage cook to perfection and the fries with their Irish style were very delicious. The crow was usual what seems like a late night bite. But friendly service was a busy hence the hours of demand. If you’re looking for a quick bite you should check it out.

Staff was a little busy to see us at first. We then got a table. Food came quick. It was fantastic. The fish was perfectly cooked. The chowder was also awesome. Everything was great. Only 4 stars on service because of the initial wait & wait staff was busy.

We had reservations for a Thursday night after a show. We arrived a half hour early, but still got seated right away. Menu has a good variety to meet all dietary needs and preferences. Food was very reasonably priced. My husband has the bangers and mash, which he enjoyed. I had the Emerald chopped salad which was really good - really big too! The value of the food is excellent as portion size is large compared to the price. Fun and lively atmosphere, but very loud. It was hard to hear our server and even each other, at times. Not something that would keep us from returning though. Would recommend!

This restaurant is open until 2:00 am. We were recommended by Paul at the Hoyt's. He gave us a flyer for a complimentary appetizer. Inside was packed, so we sat by the bar for faster service as we were hungry. This is an Irish pub- inside with decorated in green and the light were dimmed. We started off with our free appetizer- sweet chilli wings. These were so spicy but good! I had a Passion fruit margarita and the blackened Salmon.

Loop Old Fashioned - 3 Stars Black and Blue Burger - 4 Stars Bartender provided good service for it being happy hour during the week. When I got there at 3pm the bar was empty and by 4pm the entire place was full of people. The Loop Old Fashioned is not worth the added price.

Seated right away when we arrived. It was very festive, and they had some dancers. I didn't like that they go table to table to ask for donations though. That's a turnoff, but they didn't come to ours. The burger was good, so was the grilled cheese and tomato soup. The service does take a little longer than normal. Overall a good experience.

These wings are fire! I got the boneless with the sweet Asian chili wow! All my friends loved the sauce. We came here for some late bites and beers. Our waitress was great! We seemed to annoy the hostess. Wish they had more bar real estate! But they have lots of seats!

Lentil soup had great flavor. Corned beef sliders very good. Food came out over fast. Service was good - servers didn't really seem to want to be there or be bothered but they did their job.

We were so grateful they had a late night food option close to our hotel! The service was great and it was a fun atmosphere. We just ordered two appetizers because we had a big, late lunch. The steak quesadilla had very little meat. The naan sausage flatbread was small but reasonably priced and flavorful. Drinks were good and reasonably priced.

Stopped by for happy hour prior to a show in the theater district. The drinks were amazing and refreshing and the light bites were fantastic as a little something prior to the theatre.

Great service and great food !! No wait time even when it was busy for large crowds. I would definitely be back on weekday night and weekend!!

Emerald is a great place to go catch a game and have dinner at the same time. They have a pretty extensive menu so we didn't get to try a lot of dishes. The service was quick and staff is friendly. It's a typical sports bar vibe in the restaurant itself. I'd say it probably cleaner and more chic than normal sports bar however. Now the food. - Fish and Chips: Too expensive for what it was. The fish itself was a little too crunchy and fell apart too easily inside. - Chicken Curry Bowl: Decent bowl but the avocado was a little strange for a curry bowl. But overall, it was pleasant enough. - Buffalo Mac and Cheese: Huge portion! Typical buffalo chicks mac and cheese. It was good. - Fried Pickles: The ranch they serve the pickles with is so delicious! The pickles themselves were good but needed a little more crisp. - Pretzel: It was soft and warm and also huge! The cheese sauce is what you'd expect. The mustard was really good. One of the best I've tried I think. I would definitely go here again for the bucket deals and the location! I would also try some new dishes.

Amazing Irish pub food with the BEST on tap options to fit! (May I please suggest the Magners Irish hard cider on tap if you aren't a "beer person" it's sweet and easy to drink too! The ambiance fits what you think an American Irish pub is without being gawdy like so many fall into. The service fits, I've never had a bad waitstaff personally, either at the bar or table sitting...

I randomly went into this spot for a quick lunch. Service was fast, and our server was nice. I got the ruban sandwich which was good but a bit dry and could have used some sauce. Vibe was what you would expect from a sports bar. I wouldn't go out of my way to go here but it fits the bill if you're already in the area and want to grab something quick.

Great place to grab a beer and a quick bite late at night. The Sheppard Pie was good and filling! Crowded but not terrible.

The staff planned a get together for two of my coworkers. The whole party took place in the back around the booth. When we arrived at the Emerald Loop, we went to the bar. I ordered an unsweetened iced tea. It had a deeper and robust taste which I really liked. My coworkers ordered a Moscow Mule and a Don Julio. I treated them as they deserved to get celebrated. Even though we did not order from the menu, it looked ample. Loved the ambiance and relaxed atmosphere. The vibe felt welcoming and inviting. Everyone became lively and people laughed and smiled. Located in the heart of the Loop, people come here with their friends and coworkers. Come and bring your friends, family, and or a date.

This restaurant is right in the corner of the building so easy for drop off and pickup. Came here for the bar. There was a lot of people but everyone was chill. Bartender was very accommodating and makes great cocktails. If you're in the area definitely check this place out!

Walked over from our hotel on a Saturday night for drinks party of 4 and they did not mind at all when we wanted to change tables to the bar area service was great and besides drinks we had nachos and they were so good.

We were walking past this place and wandered in figuring we'd grab a burger and keep going. What a great decision that was! It has a nice, warm pub feel, and the staff was super friendly and welcoming. There were three in our group and we were pleasantly surprised to see their menu with a wide variety of options. I had a wrap with turkey, pears, cranberries, and lettuce, and every bite was excellent. One friend raved about her tomato bisque, and the other raved about their blackened salmon salad with grilled tomatoes. I look forward to eating here again!

We were staying at the Virgin Hotel across the street so we stopped in here twice during our week in Chicago. The first time, which was earlier in the evening, we sat at the bar and ordered a couple of drinks from the bartender named Kris, which was a 5-star experience. The second time was late at night and the place was packed. We were seated at a table and had some cheese curds which were just fine. I think this is probably the more typical experience. Cool space, but also seems pretty touristy, and the prices reflect it. Not a bad late-night experience if it's convenient, but also not something I would rush to recommend.

Surprisingly good Irish food and great service! We visited the Emerald Loop out of necessity. There was a big event downtown and this place didn't have a wait. At first look, this place comes off as an Irish-ish sports bar. Lots of TV's, pub tables, a menu that has the basic grub, etc. It also has some nice touches like large windows, exposed wood, and lots of Christmas decorations when I visited. We were seated right away and our server took care of our drink orders. There's a little spot on the menu with Irish fare and both of our party ordered from it. The bangers and mash as well as the Shepard's pie were tasty on their own, but I was absolutely sold with the addition of the brown sauce! So good! I would have overlooked this place at first but would now go back if I'm staying in the area again!

Not a great experience. The margarita was terrible, and even after sending it back (after just one sip), we were still charged for it. They also messed up our order when we tried to get wings, and the sausage roll was completely bland. Service was just okay--not enough to make up for everything else. Wouldn't recommend.

After walking for 4 hours, we stopped at this place to eat our lunch. The restaurant is in a building 1920 something, a jewelry business place, and still inside a lot of history. The service is nice and fast, and our beyond burger with waffles fries were delicious! The price is reasonable. The Arnold Palmer was really good too!

Service was good! Burger was very large, fried pickles and Mac and cheese didn't have a lot of flavor. Restaurant was clean and bit loud!

We had a reservation on a Sunday night for dinner and there were only 3 of us. After being sat, no one even saw us for 20 minutes. Then we asked for waters, an appetizer (fried pickles), and our entrees all at the same time. Our app came out and the one drink someone ordered, a Diet Coke, was forgotten about and I had to flag down our server to ask for it again. The food was fine but not worth coming here again.

The food and the drinks was wonderful. The ambience of the place is amazing. I love the style and I also love the relaxed feeling you get when you come here the surface was amazing. The waitress who served us provided excellent recommendations for breakfast spots and suggested some popular tourist attractions for us to visit in Chicago. We appreciate your service.

Fast, friendly service here. The steak salad was delicious with a bunch of fresh ingredients and the cilantro lime dressing paired great with it.

Amazing experience for a group of 8 that the hostess wonderfully accommodated (without a reservation). Service was fantastic, ambiance was wonderful (classic Irish Pub decorated surprisingly well for the Christmas holiday) and our food and drinks were delicious. Our group ordered the nachos, fried pickles, salad, fish and chips, corned beef sandwich, and wraps - everyone had extremely positive reviews. Will be back next time we visit Chicago!

Great menu and variety of offerings, staff is friendly and efficient greeting you as soon as your seated. I tried the corn beef sandwich with side of choice mash potatoes. It came with gravy as well for the mash potatoes. The corn beef fell apart and was on a rye bread with melted cheese. I tried the draft special which was a dark lager. Plenty of tvs to watch the games from any angle. Overall good service and value.

We were staying across the street at Virgin, and they stopped serving food around 10pm on Thursday -- so we were recommended to order here. We decided to dine in and arrived around 11pm and the place was packed! Seated in a tucked away spot, we jammed to the fab early 00s hits and noshed on their classic cheeseburger w/ waffle friends and the grilled chicken sandwich w/ house made chips. Both were bomb!!!!!!! We didn't drink but had a great time and delicious food. Def recommend for late night eats or some drinks with friends nice vibes.

Good venue. Parking is challenging. Happy hour specials are nice. Smithwicks on tap! Large space with lots of seating options. TV's but it can get loud.

Great venue, especially when you fly into town hungry, and late in the evening. Just about the only option after 10 p.m. The service is typically good. The vibe is a cross between a lively pub and casual restaurant.

Stopped in recently for a Bloody Mary. Was in town for business and had the day to myself so I was walking around the city. The first bartender I saw said the other guy made a great Bloody Mary. When it arrived, it had a skewer with some veg and a piece of cheese, a slice of sausage and a bit of bacon...ugh. I wish I'd thought to ask about the garnish. I'm vegan. So, 5 second rule applies - I took it out & moved on. The Bloody Mary, though, was just not that great. I could've gotten one at least as good from an Applebees or Chilis. It was nothing special.

My brother and I came here on a whim for brunch. They did both their regular menu plus their brunch menu. Their prices were very good and they had plenty of availability. I tried the All day Irish Breakfast as it looked really unique and I've never really had anything I would consider "traditional" Irish food. Overall, it was good, but it felt like eating a home cooked meal but with maybe more British/Irish ingredients. I thought it was tasty and worth trying because of its uniqueness but I probably would get something else if I came back. We also got a brisket grilled cheese and irish Sausges, and both of those were great as is. The service was great and we came on a Sunday afternoon so it was very peaceful.

Good selection of drinks and deals, but my fish and chips was average at best. The fries were soggy and the fish was overcooked and way too much batter. My wife enjoyed her Irish Salad though, so we were spilt on the place.

Honestly, I am extremely disappointed in the service and food. The wait was 0 time on a Saturday afternoon, which was amazing since we had 9 people. But, they tucked us in a corner of the restaurant that we consequently had no attention. Our server was rude, condescending, and told us the "kitchen might not listen to me" when we asked for dietary restriction requests. She checked on us twice, and it was to drop off our drinks and to see if all the food came out after the VERY nice gentleman food runner came out with everything. One of us had a BUG in her drink, which the manager eventually (after 10 minutes) brought a new one. We did not receive an apology from our server. And by the time our food came out, we were all empty on drinks. Everyones chicken was dry and we could tell it had been sitting in the window. We also all got about 7 fries each. We didnt send any food back because our server told us MULTIPLE times shes "busy and had 5, 12 tops". Last but not least, we asked to split a group of 9 into 3 tabs, and she proceeded to argue with us and say she doesnt have time so i took it upon my self to put a 300 dollar tab, with STILL a 20% tip, all on one card. I have been a server, my whole family works in the food industry, i understand that sometimes work just stinks, but we could all feel the animosity. Will probably never go back.

Unfortunately I have to write this review for this place. I do not usually give 1 star reviews unless the food was bad and all, but we waited for an hour but never got anyone to take our orders after we got our drinks and starters. No plates were ever given and when we tried to get our waiter he said that he will be transferring us to a different waiter (we never met our new waiter). The ambiance was fine though nothing wrong with the area. Overall, I would give it a 1 star maybe less if i could because of the service.

Went here with family again. This time to celebrate my graduation! The server and staff was really nice and most of my food was great!

We arrived at Emerald Loop for an early dinner on the patio. We were greeted right away by a lovely young woman who was still training. I ordered a glass of wine and my partner ordered a cran and ginger (which she misheard as crown and ginger). They quickly brought her the right drink though. I ordered a "beyond" burger with a side of brussels sprouts and my partner got fish and chips. The food was great, came quickly and was exactly what you'd expect from a pub style restaurant. Very good.

This sports bar was worth the wait. I stayed in line for about 30 min to get a table and I have no regrets. The food was amazing and at a great price.

I used to visit this place in it's 'hey day' when it was VERY hard to get in on St Patrick's day, or during the big sports events. I never went for the Super Bowl or World series, but we visited for a few soccer or basketball games. It's much less crowded these days. Could it be just less 'hip', or is the food different? We came in for the morning 3rd place World Cup qualifier between Morocco and Croatia at 10am on a Saturday. I don't think I went in in 2019 during the Women's world cup. We thought an Irish pub would be packed but it was quiet as a church. (the odd smell of the place was like a noise in and of itself!) The service was good, the food was ok. I got the egg sandwich on pretzel bread with hash browns, coffee and beer. I usually enjoy my time here but the food and ambiance have changed in recent years. They have a rewards program that hopefully will be more of an incentive for frequent visits.

One of the few places open late on a weekday night, so if you are in need of food while late... I would still probably skip this place. The food is mediocre at best and the service was very bad. We were standing there waiting to be seated for about 30 min and seemingly other people who knew one of the servers was seated immediately upon walking in. The servers were also very rude in general, not just the one with preferential treatment. Not a great experience and not a good look. You are better off going to Taco Bell and getting a drink and some food there. It would be faster and probably less hair straining than going here.

A great location in the city for a Guinness, nachos and football. Stopped in on the way to Christkindlemarkt to warm up and enjoy the space.

So we came here on the recommendation of the door man at the Hyatt. The food was fantastic. The corned beef was great but my wife's brisket grilled cheese was ridiculously good.

I'm not too sure how I feel about this restaurant. I've walked past it so many times I can't count. They recently opened back up following the holiday season and I thought it'd be amazing to go with my guy. I came here on a Monday night about 10:30 pm and upon entry there was no one to greet us or seat us. I assumed they were dealing with a office party because it was a large section of people in one area. Despite, I don't believe it gives excuse to not be acknowledged and at least acknowledge that they're busy or short staffed. Anywho... my guy found us seats at the bar in the corner. Perfect! The bartender was a total sweet heart and super attentive despite the large crowd. We ordered some drinks ($13) and he ordered the corned beef sandwich while I ordered the blackened whitefish sandwich. Food: At a traditional "authentic" Irish pub, there's supposed to be sauerkraut on the corned beef sandwich. This wasn't the case and I don't feel the sandwich was proportioned. Either you're going to slab on the meat or make it so there's a nice ratio of flavors between each bite. Didn't happen which is yikes on a bike for me. The blackened whitefish sandwich lacked acidity and juiciness to me. I wanted more slaw and the chipotle mayo. The serving of the mahi mahi was large so that was a plus! But the veggies added didn't make up for the lack of flavor. I just wanted more - I was white filled but still felt empty. Not a good feeling when you're spending $18 on a meal. I'd return and try the wings (heard amazing things) and the bangers and mash.

I really, really liked this place. I stumbled in--after a long day filled with airports and taxis--exhausted, desperate for food. At that point, I would have eaten the paper menu they handed me and there was a 50/50 shot I was going to fall asleep in my chair. I didn't fall asleep, but I did have a lovely naan flatbread pizza (I think the dough was even homemade?) with fresh basil and sausage. It filled me up, the bartenders made me a delicious non-alcoholic concoction (and didn't charge me for it), and no one batted an eye at the fact I was obviously tired and casually dressed. This place was busy, but noise wasn't too bad. Sports were on the TVs, everyone seemed happy, and it was literally across the street from my hotel so it was convenient to me. No service issues here, tasty food, they have lots of happy hour specials if that is your thing.

You know how you visit a city and stay downtown at a reasonably nice hotel but it's kind of dead on weeknights and you wander into some nearby restaurant for dinner and a drink, not expecting much? Well I am jealous of people staying in that northeast area of the Loop for some series of business meetings because they are going to wander into the Emerald Loop and have a great meal. It's an Irish pub, but perhaps in the same sense that Olive Garden is an Italian bistro. Not that it's a chain, but I wouldn't say it feels richly authentic. Put all that out of your mind though. It's awesome. Four of us split an Irish sausage roll to start. Super. Not heavy or greasy at all. Tasty mustard and onion jam too. Two of us ordered Old Fashioneds and two ordered the Mark Twain cocktail, sucked in by the literary reference. Too much sweet and not enough scotch for us. The old fashioned was great though, and we all ordered them on the second round. When the entrees came out, we all got uncharacteristically quiet because... wow. I, for one, started eating like it was my job. Perfectly fried fish and chips, and a brisket grilled cheese for the ages. The waiter recommended the mac and cheese and he was not wrong. Entree portions were very generous, yet we ate it all because we Could. Not. Stop. Emerald loop is close to theaters and Symphony Center and a terrific spot for a pre-show dinner. We'll definitely be back, pretending to be out of towners and being pleasantly surprised again by this place.

We waited 20 minutes for the first drink, and it was terrible. We then waited another 30 to get another one. Service was awful and we could've done a better job serving ourselves. We asked for one last drink and she closed out. We are still here waiting for the drink. The atmosphere is nice without the random yelling people who have no decorum.
