London’s Best Riverside Restaurants and Waterside Pubs by the Thames | Eater London

"Nestled among the chain restaurants overlooking St. Katharine Docks marina is a diamond in the rough. Skip Zizzi’s and head to Emilia’s Crafted Pasta which serves fresh pasta, made daily on site. The specialty from the Genoan-born head chef is, naturally, casarecce tossed through a thick, creamy pesto, but don’t miss the rich walnut sauce with chestnut mushrooms, from the same north west Italian region of Liguria." - Daisy Meager

Emilia’s Crafted Pasta Review - City - London - The Infatuation

"If you imagine yourself eating in a marina, you’ll probably see Capri, St Tropez, or Portofino, rather than somewhere between East Smithfield and the Thames. Nonetheless, Emilia’s at St Katherine Docks will serve you a decent plate of food with a peaceful view of boats, and on a sunny summer’s day, what more do you really need? The pasta here isn’t the best we’ve had in London, but it’s good enough, and a bowl or two alongside a very tasty tomato and burrata salad makes for an inexpensive dinner or lunch by the water. photo credit: Giulia Verdinelli" - Oliver Feldman

We came here for a couples date and thoroughly enjoyed the atmosphere, authentic Italian cuisine and courteous service. We got the special ravioli with cheese and peas, as well as the Mushroom with Hazelnuts Casarecce pasta for mains. The Mushroom Casarecce was more rich and creamy than the Ravioli, but both were delicious. We had the burrata for starters which was delicious as well, perfectly cooked and melted in the mouth alongside the sourdough bread. We’ve tried other Italian restaurants, but the ingredients tasted very authentically Italian especially the olive oil tasted as if we were in Italy. We also loved the vanilla panna cotta, the Vanilla was freshly peeled so was also very rich and sweet. The restaurant felt very homely with lots of pasta quotes around the venue and personalised touches such as pasta straws for the drinks. The service was also very friendly and welcoming. We enjoyed our dining experience here. We highly recommend booking in advance, to get a table during peak hours. The area around the restaurant isn’t great, but once you’re inside it’s a vibrant, relaxed and comfortable setting for a meal. It was a meal to remember!

Just had a fantastic dinner in this amazing restaurant. Really good food but for me the best was the staff. You know that feeling when you go to your favourite restaurant in your hometown and they know your name and what you like? This was the kind of experience i had. If you want a really good pasta and you appreciate a good service, this is the spot to go. Thank you all for the amazing experience to all the staff 🙌🏽

Delicious food. We ordered the finely sliced bresaola as the antipasti which was perfect for 3 people. I also got the carbonara which was sooo good. 10/10. Our waiter Luigi suggested the grappa which was a bit strong for us, but overall very good. Would love to come back the next time I’m in London.

Google
Promising based on visual research but left disappointed in its execution. The food tasted average and was overpriced for its billing and provided portion. House rules in the restaurant were put in place but seemed slightly defensive as it negates a welcoming invitation to its visitors. The service was mixed which was surprising considering the foundation of Italian hospitality is all about being friendly, but half of this felt slightly cold hearted. Other branches seem to out-rate the Aldgate location which is something of note, but would rather dine at different restaurants instead.

Google
cannot rate this place highly enough! the food was incredible, and although the restaurant is small, it really adds to the charm of the whole place. my party got the carbonara and i got the regular tomato sauce pasta, and it was a perfect portion size, fresh, and yummy. our server luigi really went out of his way to make us feel welcome! emilia’s really feels like a true piece of italy in the heart of london

I had the salmon carbonara and it was decedent and exquisite. It was the best pasta I’ve ever had. The service was lovely and it was cool to see the chefs working near our table. Wonderful spot. Thanks for dinner!!

Google
The. Best. Pasta. Period. We've been to Aldgate yesterday and went to St Katherine Docks today to confirm. The bruschetta or bread with olive oil make great starters. Bolognese, Carbonara, Cacio e Pepe, all so tastefully. I would say the best we have ever tried. Afogato, tiramisu, gelato all make a great finale.

Emilia’s Crafted Pasta – Aldgate: A Delightful Fresh Pasta Experience If you’re looking for truly fresh, handmade pasta in London, Emilia’s Crafted Pasta in Aldgate is an absolute gem. All of their pasta is crafted on-site with care and passion, and you can taste the difference in every bite. The textures and flavours are simply outstanding — as close to authentic homemade pasta as you’ll find outside of Italy. One of the highlights is the variety on offer, with something for everyone. Their vegan options are particularly impressive, bursting with flavour and creativity rather than feeling like an afterthought. Whether you go for a rich vegan tomato and basil sauce or something more adventurous, the quality of the ingredients really shines through. The atmosphere at Emilia’s is warm and inviting, perfect for both casual lunches and cosy dinners. With generous portions, fair pricing, and friendly service, this is a spot I’ll definitely be returning to — highly recommended for pasta lovers and anyone seeking a satisfying, fresh meal in the heart of Aldgate.

Yelp
So delicious. Stopped in for an early dinner right as they opened and got our choice of a seat. Started with the bruschetta which was delicious and fresh. Then the wagyu ragu and lamb ravioli - both were absolutely delicious. Staff was awesome with allergies and there were plenty of choices even considering the allergies (milk). Decided on the pennacotta and chocolate "salami" for dessert paired with the espresso with gappo and the vegan hot chocolate. Everything was delicious. We were happy and satisfied and full.

Yelp
Delish! Oh man, so good. Best amaretto sour I have ever had. The truffled cacio e Pepe was divine. The carbonara was also lovely. We enjoyed all three gelato flavors at dessert too. Friendly service and such a cute place. Loved it.

Yelp
This was the most amazing food I've ever had. The flavor profile was superb! At first glance I assumed stupidly that the quantity would leave me still hungry but the flavor was so rich and I was enjoying it so much that I started to slow down while I was eating it to savor it and ended up struggling to finish it. I have never found anything like this in the states and wish I could stay in London because this place was just excellent. Next time I'm back here I'll be coming back. The staff were friendly and the atmosphere of the restaurant was lovely. The desserts were so fantastic! We were already full but decided to try it anyway... the cheesecake was unique and the tiramisu was so great

Yelp
Delicious and authentic meal at Emilia's. Pasta and sauces are fresh. Small rocket salad excellent. Prices fair for the high quality meal. Hits the spot when looking for comfort. Best meal we had in London.

Yelp
Absolutely DELICIOUS and highly recommend. The fresh pasta was cooked to perfection and the deserts are not to miss!

Yelp
Without a reservation it can be hard to get a table here, but luckily there were 2 seats open at the bar just calling our names. We started with the salad to share. We loved the addition of grains and pomegranate seeds. It was light and refreshing. I ordered the Truffled Cacio e Pepe and hubby ordered the special of the day, which was pasta bolognese. I'd never had Cacio e Pepe before so I didn't know what to expect. It was rich and creamy and the pasta was cooked to perfection. Hubby loved the thick noodles and meatiness of his pasta. We ordered smooth, delicious gelato for dessert. It was entertaining to watch the kitchen work their magic and churn out the dishes right in front of us. Everything we had tasted homemade and fresh. We loved this place and would recommend it to anyone!

Yelp
Fabulous bakery, try the honey bran muffin it's unusual with a date in the center moist a little sticky from the honey.

Yelp
I had a relatively high hope when coming. I ordered a pasta Bolognese and a tiramisu, both dishes were good but have problems. The pasta was good, fresh and chewy. They mix bećhamel sauce with ragú in their tagliatelle bolognese, which is a good idea and makes it taste like a lasagna. They're very generous with Parmigianino on top. But for some reason the sauce was almost unsalted to me. There were no salt and pepper on my table at first and I had to ask for them. It makes sense to make the sauce lighter and let customers decide what they need, but a bit more salt and pepper than that was what I thought a good pasta ragú shall start with. The tiramisu let me down a bit. They used almond crust instead of cocoa powder. The taste was actually pretty interesting, but I've never seen a tiramisu so runny (apart from my first attempt to make one, when I accidentally de-foamed the egg white). Overall, it's a nice restaurant with decent service, but they can polish their dishes a bit to make it even better.

Yelp
Very disappointed with this restaurant. We were really looking forward to a nice night out. Overall service was not great as we had multiple waiters/waitresses so our service was disjointed to say the least. It's a shame the manager is not customer oriented bc the food was pretty good. We made reservations and expected a high top table - their high top seating is sitting at a diner like bar and watching them wash dishes and meal prep. We couldn't talk to each other in this setting and what was even more frustrating was there were 2 tables open that could have accommodated us and even though we asked to move twice, they told us the manager said no we couldn't. Thanks for ruining our last night in London Emilia's. Sadly we would not recommend this restaurant based on our experience and we shared our disappointment with the hotel staff that recommended we dine here.

Yelp
I sat at the bar as I was on my own. Reasonably priced. Service was slow. I ordered the smoked salmon carbonara. It arrived without parmesan cheese -- the waiter disappeared and I could never catch any one's attention to get this corrected. Okay but I doubt I'll go back. My favorite Italian place in London is cafe amisha in Bermondsey.

Yelp
The food here is AMAZING and as a pasta lover this was exactly the kind of meal I was hoping to get at a specialty pasta restaurant. I got the Bolognese and it was phenomenal. We did have many different people serving us throughout the night, which made it a little confusing when we wanted to ask for something or get the bill. The reservation service had let me book a "high top table" but really that just means two seats at the bar. Which was fine, but I think i would not have selected that option if I knew, since I was expecting just a normal table that was high up.

Yelp
Legit Italian food in Whitechapel. I visited here twice on my recent trip to London. I've been to Italy many times....this is authentic. Get the pappardella. Enjoy.

Yelp
We finally came here for lunch before seeing a movie at Curzon, next door. It was a good decision. From the service and ambience, to the pasta and the price, this place was amazing. The pasta was beautiful, and the sauces were perfectly seasoned. The wine was a great match, and the price was so reasonable. This is our new, lunch before a movie, place. The menu is small, but purposeful. I can't wait to try everything on it.

Yelp
We had the pappardelle and ravioli with lamb. Both were exceptional and exceed our expectations! Definitely worth a try and reasonably priced.
