Emilia's Crafted Pasta (Baker Street) Review - Marylebone - London - The Infatuation

"Baker Street is a mixed bag of celebrity waxwork-enthusiasts, architecture students, and tourists who took a wrong turn on Oxford Street. And Emilia’s Crafted Pasta could work for all of those people, and more. Handmade, good-value pasta between lectures? You got it. Nice sit-down dinner after a long walk in Regent’s Park? Head here. Meeting your friend's new partner? This works. It’s not the best pasta in London, but the warm, homey, plant-filled dining room sure beats a Vapiano. Our favourite is the bouncy radiatori that comes in a light tomato sauce and a dollop of buffalo mozzarella. Food Rundown photo credit: Rianne Shlebak Homemade Tomato Sauce With Freshly Chopped Basil (Radiatori) This is our favourite pasta on the menu. The sauce is everything you want from a classic pomodoro: bright and fresh, with a little sweetness. The folded, layered radiatori pairs perfectly, soaking up the sauce so you get nicely balanced bites. photo credit: Rianne Shlebak Homemade Creamy Walnut Sauce With Chestnut Mushrooms (Casarecce) If you’re one of those people who tends to avoid white sauces because they’re ‘heavy’, this walnut sauce will convert you. It’s creamy, cheesy, and light all at the same time. The mushrooms bring a welcome earthiness and the crushed walnuts add crunch. photo credit: Rianne Shlebak Truffled Cacio E Pepe (Casarecce) Pairing pasta shapes with sauces is a lesson that should be studied, and whoever paired this buttery truffle sauce with the springy casarecce should teach it. photo credit: Rianne Shlebak Homemade Basil Pesto With Grated Parmesan (Casarecce) We weren’t fans of this pesto pasta. The pesto-heavy sauce didn’t have much else going on, and just wasn’t as good as the other ones." - Rianne Shlebak

Emilia Review - Mayfair - London - The Infatuation

"It’s a myth that young people have all the fun. Ever seen your grandad drunk at Christmas? Or your great-aunt attempting to line dance to Michael Bublé? Or even better, your mum hysterically giggling over a Poldark meme after her third glass of wine? It doesn’t matter how wise, or sensible, or grown-up you are, you still deserve to have a good laugh. Which brings us on to Emilia, a sophisticated spot in Mayfair that serves excellent, rich Italian food but little in the way of fun. The menu here is all thin-sliced prosciutto, courgette fritti, handmade pastas, and the kind of fish that’s so tasty it’ll stop a conversation quicker than Big Mouth Billy Bass serenading you from your plate. There’s no denying that the food is impressive. Every rich bite of ricotta is balanced out with the perfect amount of crunchy walnut, and their minty take on a zabaglione turns a decent piece of lamb into the best you’ve ever had. None of it is cheap, especially once your wing man, the sommelier, gets involved. But, almost every dish is impressive to the point where going for a full four-course situation is pretty irresistible from the second you sit down. Where you choose to sit is up to you. The restaurant is set inside Bonhams’ flagship London auction house, which is handy if you’re in the market for a squid minestrone and a 1920s motor carriage originally owned by King Edward VIII. The dining room upstairs is bright and spacious, and was clearly designed by someone who only had a white tablecloth for inspiration and appreciates the support of a high-backed chair. Sure, it’s sparse, but think of it as a blank canvas - feel free to get a bit Rothko with the lemon mayonnaise if you’re desperate for colour. The food here should be your main focus. Downstairs in their small, corridor of a wine bar things are a bit more informal with industrial stools and slick marble tables that are date-night ready as soon as you add a candle and glass of 2014 Châteauneuf-du-Pape into the mix. Then there’s the outdoor terrace, a set of simple tables with sleek metal chairs. It’s about as practical as an expensive pair of leather flip-flops in London weather. That said, a sunny day out on that terrace with a bottle of white wine and their tuna carpaccio, is undeniably lovely. Whether you’re inside or out though, the problem with Emilia remains. It is lovely, but in the way that cross-stitch might be if watching Saturday Night Live in your underwear, or flinging banter at someone you fancy wasn’t ever an option again. It’s serious and can get seriously expensive, which makes it hard to use. You could come here for lunch when you’re in the market for a new sculpture and your art dealer’s a sucker for burrata. Or when your godmother, the librarian, is visiting and you want them to feel at home. Or when your millions are cluttering up your bank account and you want to show that person you’re dating that you can afford a two-hundred quid bottle of Riesling. If none of those apply to you, well, then come to Emilia for the food. Just be sure to bring your own fun." - Heidi Lauth Beasley

Had an amazing pasta at Emilia's on Baker Street! The food was absolutely incredible - every bite was a flavor explosion. The service was top-notch, and the atmosphere was cozy and inviting. If you're a pasta fan, this place is a must-visit!

I must say I absolutely love Emilia’s, I’ve been to all of their restaurant locations. Their pasta is incredible and I would highly rate it to everyone. So when this new store opened it was much more convenient for me to get to so I was very excited about more regular trips. However I’ve been 3 times since opening and each time the service has been very poor. The first time I came my order was taken incorrectly, I then had to wait longer than the rest of my party to have it made. Second time I came the same thing happened and I had to rush to eat my food as it took so long for it to be rectified / I believe they forgot about it entirely. Then most recently I went yesterday afternoon around 16:30 so I was expecting it to be relatively quiet before the dinner rush so I didn’t book a table. My partner and I turned up and easily the restaurant was more than half empty tables, we asked for a table for 2 and the staff member said they were booked out for the rest of the evening and there was no chance of having a table. We walked outside and decided to check the online booking system and there were table reservations from 16:45 all the way to 21:00 available… so we ended up booking at table for 17:00 and just came back half an hour later. This was very disappointing considering it just felt that we were lied to. Fast forward to we get sat down, it took nearly 20 minutes for someone to come to us to even ask us for drinks. Bearing in mind the restaurant was very quiet, the rest of the staff were just setting all of the empty tables instead of taking note of the people actually sat inside. Again I think the food is brilliant but the service really needs work, as it puts me off coming back and thankfully I’ve been to the other locations and the service is normally very good so it seems to be exclusive to the Baker St store.

I travel to London a couple times a year for business and always dine at Emilia’s St. Katharine Docks which is always very good. This time I thought I would try one of their other locations. I chose the Baker street location and I was not disappointed. I did make a reservation so I knew I would get a seat. I arrived on time and was greeted with a friendly smile and was shown to my table. The waitress was very helpful and took my order straight away. I ordered the pasta bolognese and it was just as good as I remember. If you are looking for a great place to eat please check out Emilia’s on Baker street.

Straightforward menu and it was tasty. Just a bit confusing as it marked one dish as “no pork” which makes you feel like the rest of the menu does but it actually doesn’t. Asked the wait staff and she wasn’t even sure. Portion was good and the sauce is actually quite heavy so you won’t want to eat too much. I love that they have outdoor seating but you have to tolerate the busy baker street. Also be careful with your belongings when you are sitting outside.

I went here for a Thursday Dinner. The place didn’t seem very crowded but all the tables were booked. These were still empty when we were leaving so quite surprised. We sat at the bar. There’s no beer on tap but the offers on drinks aren’t bad. There were quite a few bottled beers available. The pasta was OK but sauces could have been better considering main focus was pasta dishes. The bruschetta with tomato was really good.

Tasty pasta, nice little place just a few minutes walk from Baker Street station. Service is average. Good veggie options- I had the pistachio pesto pasta and enjoyed it (although the pasta was warm rather than hot)

Deliscious however slightly small portions. Great taste and great service. The place looks a little like something out of a 80s movie parody of an Italian place though.

Great fresh italian pasta! We ordered two types of pasta, one cacio & pepe, and one with creamy mushroms and they were beyond delicious. Also the sweets were super delicious, tiramisu and the cheesecake was perfect. The service was perfect, Brisilda was so so sweet and took care of us since in the beginning. She is the best !! Thank you Brisilda for making this dinner more perfect. ♥️
