Best Atlanta Bakeries, Restaurants, and Food Pop-Ups for Empanadas | Eater Atlanta

"An entire restaurant dedicated to empanadas? Co-owner Monica Salcedo makes traditional empanadas out of Sweet Octopus at Parsons Alley in Duluth inspired by her Colombian roots, with filling combinations like chicken, hard boiled egg, olives, and raisins. There are also globally-inspired flavors such as goulash (beef, onions, and paprika) and caprese (tomato and mozzarella). Order online for takeout." - Lia Picard

The best thing about this place was that sakerita I had. I found this place scrolling through yelp a while ago so I was so excited to try the empanadas. Honestly, I should’ve known better. You HAVE to go with your gut feeling in some situations 😂. The place smelled burnt before we even walked up the stairs so I should’ve known right then. I think they had their oven on too high because the outside was crispy but some of the inside was doughy. The flavor of the meat was subpar as well. It lacked in taste severely. Maybe it was just a bad day for them, who knows. The best one with the most flavor and tender meat was the pork empanada. I tried pulled pork, goulash, beef, and bulgogi. I was so disappointed in the bulgogi one. I love Korean food so I was excited to taste that one but it was tough and the flavor was not bulgogi at all. Although I was dissatisfied with the empanadas, I’d still go back for a drink or bubble tea. Also, the picture of the empanadas are very misleading 😂. One of the main reasons I was excited to come was because I thought they were huge but they’re about the size of your palm or hand.

We tried the beef empanadas and they were absolutely delicious—crispy on the outside and full of savory, flavorful filling. The kids especially loved the pepperoni and cheese empanada; it was a huge hit! They also serve boba teas, which was a nice surprise. The mango smoothie boba was refreshing and tasty, but I’d probably skip the milk tea boba next time—the flavor wasn’t quite authentic and the boba pearls were a bit too hard. Service was excellent—super friendly and welcoming. The spot itself is in a great location, tucked on the 2nd floor of Sweet Octopus, which gives it a cozy and relaxed vibe, reminded me of being in a Latin country, with the windows wide open and the music. We’ll definitely be back!

We walked in for hot chocolate but kids wanted Bubble tea. The empanadas are good Guayaba y queso and chicken. The atmosphere is chill with a balcony. Too cold for now but when weather is warm that would be a great place to sit and chat with your friends. The lady was really sweet when taking our order. A bit pricey.

Stopped at empanada house to pick up lunch for the Argentina vs Poland World Cup 2022 game. I was so surprised and happy to see their customization (I was wearing my Argentina jersey). We ordered the bulgogi, traditional beef, goulash, and chicken long with impossible and caprese. 10/10 in flavor and customer service. We will definitely be back time and time again. After ordering takeout once again, we decided to bring to “watch party” to empanada house for England VS Senegal round of 16. Top customer service, GREAT alcoholic drinks, and bubble tea for underage fans. MMT tech Duluth supporting empanada house.

We had an assortment of empanadas and they were all fresh and delicious. My favorites were the Hawaiian, Bulgogi and the Beef. The staff is very friendly, and we will certainly be back for more empanadas!

These are hands down some of the best empanadas I’ve ever had! They are so crisp and flaky on the outside and nice and filling on the inside. They have savory and sweet ones, so you have a variety of options. I definitely recommend trying both kinds, you will not regret it!

Traveled to downtown Duluth yesterday with my bf and friend as we tried a few spots with The Empanada House being one of them. Who can resist a empanada though? So I just knew it was going to be the good! The place is located on the corner diagonal from Maple Biscuit Street Company where it shares it brick and mortar with another restaurant, The Sweet Octopus. Empanada House is located upstairs. When we arrived it was very chill and quiet and smelled delicious. We each tried 2 empanadas a piece and my boyfriend added on a dessert empanada as well. We ordered: The Pulled Pork The Hawaiian The Tradional Beef The Bulgogi The Pepperoni Pecan Pie We had great customer service and they were freshly made to order! What’s really cool is each empanadas was branded with its flavor type on the empanada so we could easily distinguish which one was which. As far as flavor they were all really good. The tradional beef was unique as it had chopped boiled eggs, raisins, olives, spice and beef. Although it was good, I probably wouldn’t order it again because the flavor profile wouldn’t be something I would be drawn to. Pricing is very affordable which is a plus especially how the economy is. I would come back and try other flavors and definitely use it as a spot to eat before I go out for a night of drinking lol.
