Empanada Mama UES

Idk, Empanada Mama is great no matter the location. This is a cute little spot just to get in and out. Love this idea. And El Jefe was amazing…as usual!!! The cherry lemonade was so damn good couldn’t even be bothered to take a pic of it!

DELICIOUS- actually a little too good, these things are addicting! Empanada Mama is a welcome addition to First Ave on the UES. They serve too many different kinds of empanadas to list. I tried the chicken bourbon which I will DEFINITELY be back for a repeat. I also tried the spinach and cheese which was excellent as well. The place is so clean you could eat off the floor. No kidding. I tip my hat to the people who established this chain. The help is friendly and competent- the prices are amazing. GREAT JOB👏👏👏👏👏 CHECK THIS PLACE OUT-CLEARLY AWESOME Ps I took videos but the ‘add video’ option won’t let me access my videos. What’s up with that?

I’ve gotten delivery through UberEats from this place a few times and every time I’ve had my empanadas get soggy because the sauce opens in the bag. It would be helpful if they wrap the sauces so that this doesn’t happen. But overall the food is solid

We've only had the empanadas, and tgeyare delicious. We have several favorites, Cuban, cheesesteak, brasil, el Toro. The only issue is when we order from the app for pickup or delivery, the sauces are inconsistent. We usually ask for green sauce only. Sometimes we get green and red. Sometimes we don't get enough sauces. Minor issue, but happens more often than it should.

Have taken out from this Empanada Mama location several times since they've opened but tonight was my first online order (for pick-up). The online menu was clear but I found the web version to work more effectively/intuitively than the mobile version. Ordered an assortment of 6 empanadas and took advantage of the free yucca fries (for orders $25+) promotion. How to apply the promotion was a bit un-intuitive (you have to add the fries to the cart and then apply the promotion at check-out) but when I called the store for guidance, they were very helpful. Anyway, the order went smoothly and the order was ready for pick within the estimated 20 minutes. The empanadas were delicious, full of flavor, and well-stuffed. The staff was busy but they were friendly and helpful. An excellent and reasonably priced dinner for two! So happy we have an Empanada Mama on the UES!!!

The place seems clean and the people are nice . I have ordered a cheese empanada to eat in the park. I got my order and was super happy. When I started to eat it, a lot of oil started to come out . I am now saying a spoon, it was like 3 shot glass of oil that came out of the empanada. Luckily I was eating in a park so it didn’t really matter of the spillage . I felt so grossed out by the amount of oil. That can’t be normal!

It was just OK. I felt a little queasy after I had the beef empanada. I enjoyed the baked spinach and feta cheese, it’s dependably very good!!! Reasonably priced and fast!

The food was horrible! Burnt rice and it wasn’t “el raspado!” The chicken was dry and the plátanos tasted like fried yellow bananas. The cheese empanada was like a frozen item from a bad supermarket. I woke up today needing to vomit. Food poisoning maybe?!
