This New England-Style Ice Cream Is Now Scooping in Park Hill | Eater Denver

"New this summer I learned that a 4-year-old Denver ice cream truck has finally opened a brick-and-mortar shop in Park Hill: Em’s Ice Cream now scoops from a sweet storefront at 2829 Fairfax Street. The organic-certified, New England–style maker—run by Maine native Andrew Silverman, who began selling his custard-based, crème anglaise–like ice cream from a 16th Street cart in 2014—makes its ice cream from just four base ingredients (milk, cream, eggs, sugar) and uses organic, usually in-house flavors and add-ins. I note that the honey lavender gets its flavor from lavender flowers and Brazilian (by way of Fort Collins) Madhava honey, and that the coffee cashew toffee is made from single-origin Luna beans with hard-crack candy produced onsite; no other binding agents or syrups are included. Because the Park Hill shop has a full kitchen (unlike the mobile operations), it can serve sundaes, shakes, malts, and custom-packed pints, while two trucks, two carts, and a 16th Street Mall kiosk maintain the mobile presence. Classics like salted caramel, cookies and cream, and mint chocolate chip (with house-made chips) remain, with about 16 flavors rotating daily but traditional options staying put.
