This New England-Style Ice Cream Is Now Scooping in Park Hill - Eater Denver

"Em’s Ice Cream is an organic-certified, New England-style maker, now scooping from a sweet storefront at 2829 Fairfax Street. Em’s empire also includes two ice cream trucks, two carts, and a 16th Street Mall kiosk between Curtis and Champa streets. Em’s ice cream is made from four base ingredients — milk, cream, eggs, and sugar — and all of its flavors and add-ins are organic and usually made in-house." - Josie Sexton

Google
Stopped in for after dinner ice cream and loved this spot! So nice to sit outside and enjoy our ice cream in this quiet area. Favorite was the mint chip!

Google
The vegan red berry flavor is so so good. As someone who is dairy-free, I’ve had a lot of vegan ice creams and this one is up there as one of the best I’ve had all summer. It’s creamy and fruit forward without being too sweet. My husband got the mint chip and said it was also very good. We will definitely come back!!

I go everywhere with my dog, and Em’s Ice Cream does not disappoint! Finding parking is a breeze at their flagship location, and they have a patio where my dog and I can enjoy their offerings. Not only is their ice cream made from scratch and certified organic, they usually have dog treats for your dog to enjoy! For humans, you have to try their Salted Caramel! If you’re not feeling the salty-sweet combo, they offer classic flavors such as vanilla, chocolate, and mint chocolate chip. For more adventurous palates, they have non-traditional flavors such as burnt brown sugar, black sesame, and honey lavender. Be prepared to sample flavors when you walk in, they have up to 16 flavors and cater to vegans as well (popsicles w/ fresh fruit and lemonade). Their menu doesn’t stop at ice cream by the scoop. They have rotating specials (an ice cream sandwich one day, or cake the next!), drinks, and milkshakes! Lastly, while it is not the focal point of my visit, the service has always been friendly. I go here with my dog every chance we get!

Google
Fantastic ice cream and great people always working! Definitely keep your eye for their food truck as well!

Google
Poked our heads in before the shop opened and the owner kindly treated our three year old to a vanilla scoop with sprinkles. Made his day!

Google
Ice cream was delicious but it was in a sketchy location. Staff was helpful.

Google
Best cookies and cream I’ve ever had! Love having this spot in the neighborhood. Lots of flavor options and waffle cones are fresh.

Google
I believe it's a little gem in this community. Highly recommended burned brown sugar ice cream, very creamy and flavorful and milkshake is tasty and not overly sweet.

Yelp
Go to Nuggs at Fairfax & Colfax instead! Em's is too runny and the flavors are not very rich. We come here every once in awhile (most recently mid-September) because we can walk to it, but usually only the kids get scoops. Also, their ice cream trucks drive way too fast in the neighborhood. I'd expect better from a neighborhood company whose product caters to kids!

Yelp
Really good ice cream and friendly service. Try the lemon lavender. Still getting use to paying five bucks for a scope but maybe that's the going rate.

Yelp
This place rocks. Fresh ingredients, made locally with passion and pride, Ems's serves up some delicious ice cream. Yes, they have all the standards, but for the adventurous, try the lemon pie or the mocha toffee or vegan strawberry pineapple made with coconut milk. Expect a line, but it moves fast. Great outdoor seating area. Fun place. Great for kids and adults alike.

Yelp
Wow. Sometimes less is more. I had this honey lavender ice cream and it was like a fluffy cloud. The flavor was very light and the ice cream was also light and creamy. All of this was true while still tasting so rich with flavor. I was so pleased with this flavor and will need to go back to try more for sure! The burnt brown sugar definitely caught my attention!

Yelp
Em's Ice Cream had their truck at the lavender festival, but I missed out on it, so I was so excited to see it at Jazz in the Park the next day! Ice cream is my favorite, so I was ready to try their flavors. I got a waffle cone with Coffee Toffee, and Honey Lavender. It was heaven! One of the great ice cream companies in Denver. I am looking forward to visiting their store location in Park Hill to get more of this goodness.

Yelp
We ride over tonight and it was closed during hours it was supposed to be open. Same thing happened to our neighbors last Saturday. Not great to walk your toddler 20 mins with a promise of ice cream and it doesn't manifest.

Yelp
Ice cream and service is superb!! I love the clean ingredients and my kiddo loved his vanilla with sprinkle while mom has coffee made with real coffee. Perfect location across the street from where my son gets his haircut!

Jennifer J.

Yelp
How am I just now finding this place? Whenever I go by it looks closed, or not popular but somehow it's still there. The hours posted on Yelp confused me. But you have to check it out. Delicious flavors. Caramel and burnt brown sugar! So good. Here are summer 2022 hours. Enjoy :)

Yelp
Em's has really, really good ice cream. All of the ingredients - every last one - are made by them and the result is fresh and delicious. The trouble, for sure, is deciding which flavor to get. The Salted Caramel is realllly salty, but in this crazy-awesome way. The Lemon is absolutely incredible (I did find it a bit much after a while, but that probably just me) and the Mint Chocolate Chip is my personal fav! Their shop is new and clean and the staff is amazing! Best of all, it's 3 blocks from home. B O T T O M L I N E : Go! You will not be disappointed.

Yelp
Ice is very good and they have realy good service. People here are nice. The honey lavender is giid

Yelp
We hired Em's Ice Cream to put on two events for our company.... They absolutely blew it away!!! Awesome people, awesome service, awesome Ice Cream!! Super adorable for a large crowd as well. Our company will definitely be using them again! Hire their food truck for any event :)

Yelp
Yum yum yum! My office building I worked at was holding a tenant bbq and had this ice cream truck to serve dessert. Omg I couldn't be more happier to indulge in 2 different scoops of ice cream. I tried their cookies and cream and the chai flavors. It was absolutely mouth watering and tasty. Nothing beats good yummy ice cream. I look forward to seeing you again.

Yelp
Phenomenal. Simple, intense flavors. Some of the best ice cream I've ever had. I liked the straightforward clear offerings, compared to crazy combinations.

Yelp
I have been a follower of Em's since day one. Their prices have always been reasonable since they make certified-organic ice cream -and it is delicious! My favorite will always be the Salted Caramel.

Jennifer G.

Yelp
Andrew brought his fun yellow Em's ice cream truck to the Colorado State Capitol yesterday to the delight of a group of legislative employees who were celebrating the retirement of one of their own. He served up some amazing and delicious flavors as well as fun and interesting conversation! What a perfect host! Coffee toffee was among the wonderful flavor offerings--each with its own unique story. For example, Andrew explained that for Em's amazing coffee toffee flavor (which I highly recommend), they source their coffee from a local roaster and they make their own toffee in house! Thanks, Andrew, for making our event a great success!

Yelp
My oldest son's favorite kind of sugar is ice cream. He gets it from his father who also chooses ice cream as his favorite treat. And so, with two ice cream lovers in the house our family is often on what feels like an ice cream tour of the city and Em's is a welcome addition to the Park Hill neighborhood collection. My son's favorite flavor is strawberry and Em's features a really delicious version of this. Complete the scoop of ice cream with a cake cone and rainbow sprinkles and you've made a fan of E for life. I am personally a big fan of their salted caramel - a little sweet, a little savory and a perfect treat on a hot day. However, they have some other interesting flavors that I'm sure I'll be trying over the summer months. The inside is like an Instagram dream come true for photo takers and the patio is nice, complete with sidewalk chalk to keep kiddos entertained. The people working here are always super friendly, too. All in all it's a great spot in the neighborhood and we're happy to have them here!

Yelp
So excited to have a new ice cream parlor in the neighborhood! On top of that the quality of the ice cream is truly top notch. I will definitely be visiting many times over the summer. The front runner flavor (try saying that fast ten times) is the Burnt Brown Sugar. It tastes just like that brown sugar you used to sneak as a kid with the right amount of that sweet and sticky molasses taste. The place has only been open for a couple weeks so they weren't too busy when we stopped in at 9pm on a Thursday but as word of this place spreads I know that all the neighborhood kids will be lined up out the door before you know it. It's definitely a treat as the prices are a little high but I do think the quality here mostly justifies it. Also, the space is huge, they even have an area for birthday parties towards the back. If looking for a place to throw your kids birthday party this would certainly fit the bill. Welcome to the neighborhood Em's! Can't wait to see you thrive!

Yelp
After going to the museum my granddaughter asked to get some ice cream. Not knowing that area well I looked up ice cream and was lead to Em's. Oh my! The Roasted Banana was amazing! My granddaughter also loved her chocolate peanut butter ice cream. Since we are members at both the zoo and museum we will definitely be visiting again.

Yelp
New to the park hill area and always love finding the local ice cream shop as a great summer pastime. I ordered my classic go-to of mint chocolate chip and have to say the cocoa with a little bitter and not as sweet as I would have liked. Though I also ordered a scoop of the roasted banana and WOW! That blew my mind. Looking forward to trying the other flavors as well.

Yelp
I was visiting my friend in Denver and she lives about half-mile from here. It appears this place just opened a couple months ago. Walking there I could see the change in the neighborhood...more olde and run down buildings. Then we turned a corner near an old convenience shop and BAM! Gentrification right smack in the middle of it all. Across the street was a leveled area looking ripe for some mixed-use retail/condo something or other. The ice cream place was the fanciest thing on that strip by miles. The earliest adopted in what looks to be soon a hipster mecca. Cute store front, outdoor tables, adorable on the inside. I ordered roasted banana...never had that ice cream flavor before and sounded interesting enough. Wow, it was incredible! Had it on waffle cone, generous scoop size. I enjoyed it tremendously as I walked back to my friend's house. Solid ice cream. Seems out of place but hope they embrace the roots of the neighborhood as the settle in and as the area gets its facelift.

Yelp
Just moved to Denver from San Diego and was scouting an ice cream place to be a regular at and I thankfully stumbled upon Em's. Honey lavender by far is my favorite!

Yelp
Best ice cream in the city. Very creative and delicious flavors. Doing an excellent job with Covid measures, very safe and clean. A true neighborhood gem!
google avatar

Jacob A.

Yelp
Great addition to the neighborhood. Homemade waffle cones were great did cookies and cream and chocolate cherry. Both great flavor that didn't have any overpowering taste. Go check it out if you get the chance. Has a patio that you can bring your dogs to

Yelp
The ice cream is good and the customer service is usually on point. but I tried to order an ice cream cake for a birthday and was treated like a pariah for wanting to do business with the company. Love the ice cream but there is better companys available that treat customers better. Very unfortunate, but I can't bring myself to ever go back. *update the owner reached back out *on the day I needed the cake* and was trying to make it right with a pint of ice cream. Cool right? Wrong. It's been about two months atill no pint and I'm pretty sure he just lied about wanting to make it right. The owner is bad at customer service i mean how can you try to make something right and some how make it way worse.
google avatar

Emily O.

Yelp
Favorite ice cream spot in the neighborhood. Especially love everything is organic and handmade. The hardest part is choosing what flavor to get.
google avatar

Jeff D.

Yelp
Em's is great! They have very good and unique flavors and everything is certified organic. You can taste the freshness and quality ingredients. Highly recommended! (Try the honey lavender, vanilla, cherry chocolate chip and burnt brown sugar.)

Elizabeth S.

Yelp
I didn't go to the shop, but found a pop up near work. Loved that they're organic, and the cups/spoons are biodegradable (no plastic!). The worker was SO friendly and explained how the flavors were made. I tried honey lavender and burnt brown sugar (tasted like a toasted marshmallow) and they were amazing!!! I am definitely hooked and will be visiting soon. Just a warning, it's so rich. I can usually polish off a pint on my own but two scoops was plenty for me!
google avatar

Conor F.

Yelp
Great ice cream, good flavors and friendly staff. However $9 for a pint of ice cream to go is price-gouging, will not be going back for that size again.
google avatar

Mike S.

Yelp
Great local ice cream. Support this Park Hill masterpiece. The banana flavor is sublime. The potions are gargantuan.
google avatar

John T.

Yelp
One bite and I realized that Em's is every bit as good and arguably better than Little Man and Sweet Cooies. This northeast neighborhood gem is a great find. Today's flavors included toasted coconut, black sesame, roasted banana and ginger. Other interesting ones that I can't remember.
google avatar

Mariah S.

Yelp
This is a sweet spot! The staff was friendly and the ice cream is great! They have traditional flavors and also unique ones like sesame, lavender and roasted banana. All natural and wonderful! We will definitely be regulars this summer.

Phil J.

Yelp
Delicious high quality creamy ice cream with lots of unique flavors. Kinda expensive but a nice treat.
google avatar

Janet W.

Yelp
We tried going to this little ice cream shop on a warm Saturday afternoon recently and it was rented out for a private party but it wasn't posted anywhere? They were so rude when we walked in. Why have it booked for a private party on a busy Saturday and not post it? Also why be rude to incoming customers? We'll never go back again based on how we were treated.
google avatar

Cindy B.

Yelp
I am very excited Em's Ice Cream opened just up the street from us. We have ordered ice cream cones and a cake. Every flavor we have tried has been delicious. I especially liked the roasted banana, which isn't a flavor I would normally try. They have very unique and yummy flavor combinations. Very rich, creamy and high quality (organic small batch ice cream) We have a couple ice cream shops in our neighborhood but this is by far the best! We would usually drive out of the neighborhood for ice cream, until now. The cake was amazing, very sweet and a little goes a long way. If you order a cake definitely cut your slices smaller than usual!
google avatar

Michaela B.

Yelp
This brick and mortar location is brand new! It's well lit and feels very established despite its recent opening. We stopped by on a rainy afternoon, but the girls working the counter were super friendly and eager to help us find the perfect flavor. I ended up going with the chai, but the burnt brown sugar was a close second choice! I see this as a fun neighborhood hangout as the weather gets nicer. They have great outdoor seating options and bike racks (since they neighbor Bikes Together). I love seeing these new businesses in Park Hill and will definitely be back soon! While you're over there, definitely check out Long Table Brewhouse too!!!
google avatar

Svitlana S.

Yelp
Very very delicious chocolate and coconut ice cream. Not cheap but Soo good. Nice guys is working. You can ordered always ice coffee.

Yelp
Got an ice cream cake for my son's birthday. Em's ice cream is sensational, but the cakes are another beast. Roasted banana and salted caramel covered with cream cheese frosting, caramel, and crumbled waffled cones. Wow. Made the neighborhood kids swoon.

Abigail B H.

Yelp
My family loves the new neighborhood ice cream shop! There's a great selection of flavors, and the waffle cones are fantastic. The Cookies and Cream and the Honey Lavender flavors are outstanding. Staff is very friendly also! We will be back many times this summer!

Julia W.

Yelp
This place is on our regular rotation of ice cream shops, the flavors are delicious and unique, staff are friendly, everything is made in the store, and they are environmentally conscious. It's a great place in the neighborhood!

Brian B.

Yelp
Best. Ice Cream. Ever. Goodbye Little Man. Hello Em's. They Bananas Foster shake will rock your world. The homemade caramel sauce itself stands on it's own. Burnt Brown Sugar - like Creme Brulee.

Rachel S.

Yelp
Em's Ice Cream is honestly the BEST ice cream you will find in Colorado. All organic, local ingredients, super great staff, and the creamiest/smoothest/richest/finest ice cream. Great selection with interesting flavors and the classics, lots of cone options, and suuuuper tasty toppings. 1039834/10 would recommend !!!!!!!
