"Family-run Enat — the name actually means “mother” in Ethiopian — boasts all sorts of meat dishes, including tibs flanked with onion and peppers, spiced lamb tripe, and tartare-like kitfo bolstered by herb butter." - Eater Staff, John Besche

I've been here several times, it's a go to whenever we have family or friends visiting, as most of them have never had ethiopian food before. It's a great option for people with dietary restrictions (gluten, dairy, meat). We always get the veggie combo and then add 2 meat or fish dishes. There's plenty for 4 people.

Today at work, we decided to try something new and ordered Ethiopian food. For some of our coworkers, it was their first time experiencing Ethiopian cuisine, so we went with a variety—beef, lamb, and chickpeas for a vegetarian option. We didn’t order too much at first, thinking not everyone would be into it, but once the food arrived, it turned out to be absolutely delicious—and not nearly enough for all of us! We’ll definitely be ordering from this place again. Brhan was incredibly friendly and accommodating, offering helpful suggestions on what to order. His above-and-beyond service was truly appreciated.

Tried a new place tonight. Love Ethiopian food and this place did not disappoint. I saw that it got pretty good reviews, so it was worth the drive from my place in Fairfax. Had a short chat with the owner who is very personable. Love the boom box hanging next to his bar, he just put up a few cassette tapes from his hometown.

Google
I was staying across the street and came in because of the good reviews. Great atmosphere with Ethiopian pop music from YouTube on the TVs and lots of people hanging out. Food was delicious and spicy. Fun fact: the owner brought the old boombox zip tied to the column next to the bar with him from Ethiopia years ago.

Living in LA, we are spoiled with Little Ethiopia on Fairfax Ave. So many options. I was very impressed with Enat’s veggie combo. It was delicious and one of the best Ethiopian meals I have ever had. The injera was perfection. One of the veggie dishes was a wasabi-flavored lentil dish. I had never seen any other Ethiopian restaurant offer this dish. The wasabi was SO intense, but it cleared up my senses. 😅 I ordered takeout two days in a row. They saw me outside with my fur nephew so they brought the check and food to me. Great service! I highly recommend this restaurant if you love Ethiopian food!

Google
On Monday, my granddaughter and me went to the restaurant for the first time. The food was terrible. In my years eating the vegetable platter, it was disgusting. My granddaughter order Doro Wot, the chicken seems to be cooked the day before. I paid almost 48 dollars for food we weren’t able to eat, because the Doro Wot was served in a small portion and charged separately. I won’t come to eat at Enat ever in my life.

Google
My go to Ethiopian spot. I bring friends here and really enjoy the food. This time I went it felt like they skimp on the meat and flavor (lamb tibs) and changed/subbed different veggies on the platter or duplicated (we ordered an entree of collards). I recommend getting the tea. I usually get the same thing each time. I am hoping this was just a mishap visit and everything will be back to normal like how I remembered the past years I’ve been coming.

Google
My first time trying ethiopian food ! I loved the atmosphere , there is a small bar and pool table at the other side of the dining area. Friendly service ! I was so full ! I wish I had made some room to try some pasteries from the bakery next door ! Next time !

Yelp
This place is SO delicious. Some observations: - You have the option of having 100% teff flour based injera flown in from Ethiopia (a bit more expensive but totally gluten free), or an American-style injera which includes a bit of wheat flour. Both are soft, supple and flavorful. - Their vegetarian sampler goes way above and beyond comparable places. It includes ten items. That includes all of the traditional favorites (cabbage and carrots, collard greens, lentils with berbere, shiro) but also some dishes I've not had at other places (a horseradish-reminiscent lentil salad, a dish that looks like egg salad but seems to be yellow split pea based, beets). They are all really good and offer a lot of flavor, texture, and color variety. - Their takeout is all packaged in recyclable and/or compostable packaging which is a really nice touch.

Yelp
Ambiance: (4/5) I loved the seating. They have very causal decor. I wasn't a super big fan of the really loud music. Price: (5/5) Great prices for the area. The portions are a pretty good size as well. Food: (4/5) Really enjoyed the food. You get enjera on the side as well. The beef wot was amazing. Probably my favorite dish. Great spices and the meat was tender. I think the mushroom tibs could have had more spices added. Just an FYI, if you order soda, you get a can, there are no refills. Service: (4/5) Service is a bit slow, but it is a very causal family style restaurant. People do come to sit and enjoy for a good bit of time.

Yelp
The food here is not seasoned. That's it. I got the enat Anegel and it isn't good. The meat crumbles are dry, the food not seasoned, and the to-go order was in separate containers which is weird for Ethiopian food. Don't come here, I repeat, DONT COME HERE. There are better Ethiopian places. The injera was bland too.

Larry B.

Yelp
Absolutely amazing. Delicious food and even better, the service was amazing. The gentleman servicing us was so nice and welcoming and explained everything. Please come visit this amazing local restaurant

Dion G.

Yelp
This is a great Ethiopian restaurant. The restaurant itself has busy hours during dinner and weekends. The food comes in fairly large portions. It's very spacious and clean with a bar and pool rom . Nice place to take the family for authentic cuisine.

Jessica T.

Yelp
Came on Saturday afternoon. Service was a tad slow but the food was good. I got the vegetarian combo with Chekina tibs and Enat kitfo. My bf and I really enjoyed the Chekina Tibs since it had a kick of spice to it. Some of the sides were cold. We just didn't eat much of it and ate everything else. We were stuffed and still had quite a bit of leftover. This place is an the alternative to going into DC so I'm happy we found the place. Knocked off a star because of the cold sides and slow service.

Matthew H.

Yelp
Enat Restaurant is great. I recommend coming here for superb Ethiopian food. Come here for lunch or dinner. The injera is good. I liked the collard greens a lot too. There is plenty of parking here as well.

Nita T.

Yelp
Enat was a bit out of the way but I wanted to give them a try since they had what looked like my favorite dish that I normally get from a place closer to me. I ordered the spicy lentils, cabbage, tomato and jalapeno salad, schennt tibs and chiktina tibs. I got two meat dishes, unsure which would be close to the one I was looking for since they sounded similar but both sounded delicious. I picked up the order and drove home, excited to try out a new place. Now, I genuinely go to one place close to where I live because they are truly the best Ethiopian food I have ever had. But I want to have other options in other areas. So I was really careful reading the menu and ordered the two items that sounded the most similar to what I wanted. Unfortunately, when I got home, there was only ONE meat dish. Which one, I am not sure, but I was very disappointed. The food I did get was good, and I tried to enjoy it, but I was charged more than what I received. No worries, let me dispute the order and get my money back for the missing item. I called the restaurant several times but no one answered. I doubled checked my online order which had 2 meat dishes and charged me for the such, but there was no way to dispute the order or ask for help. Overall, a disappointing dining experience and I won't be returning.

Yelp
Enat has fallen off immensely for me. This pains me a little since I gave it such high praise before, but on my last visit... the food just wasn't the same. Service was slow, as always, but I ordered takeout well in advance online, so it wasn't as painful. Waited about 5-10 mins for our food upon arrival. It was fairly late on a Sunday night and no one else was in the restaurant. I was starving and ready to chow down when I got home. However, the food just wasn't what I was used to. Everything was sitting underneath pools of oil in a way that I'd never seen before. The flavors overall were still good, but nothing stood out. The kitfo had an overwhelming taste of what I can only describe as cinnamon-y. The next day, I was pulling out the cold chunks of solidified oil from all the food. It just seems like Enat has changed chefs or declined in quality sibce my last visit, and it's really sad to see. I'm hoping it rebounds and it can be a favorite again soon!

Jenny O.

Yelp
We ordered Enat as delivery and it was overall great. I got the veggie combo with the whole fish. The whole fish was MASSIVE so my husband helped me, but very tender and flaky. I was worried a little about the bones, but it was easy to separate away from the bones. The veggies were solid. My favorite was this sticky preparation of the green beans as well as the beets. The injera was overall too sour for me, and more sour than I'm used to at other Ethiopian restaurants. It was overwhelmingly so that I couldn't eat that much of it (though I typically love to wrap plenty of injera around the accompaniments). I also thought some of the dishes had a lot of oil in them. I would still order from here again, and just order less injera next time!

Monica M.

Yelp
First time, Not bad - I finally got my cravings fixed! My husband and I shared the Chekina Tibs Vegetarian Combination. My favorite side was the beets which I wish there was more of! The Tibbs tasted great! However, there was one side that was heavily seasoned with horse radish that my husband and I didn't have the taste for. I accidentally ate chunk of it and my nose was felt like it was on fire and eyes were watering! I can't remember what the name of that side was. The Injera had a good texture but it seemed a little on the sour side - I kinda wish it didn't. It was a little muggy in there too with flies! I'm pregnant so it didn't feel very comfortable for me. Oh well.

Andrew H.

Yelp
Great excellent Ethiopian food near my house! I really like the combo veggie and meat dishes you can get, it's plenty of food. I'll swap out one of their meat options for awaze tibs which is excellent. You'll see Enat featured in top Ethiopian restaurants regularly and I can attest, it's good.

Dan A.

Yelp
Finally got to try Enat after hearing good reviews from friends and family. We arrived around 2 on a Sunday afternoon for a late lunch. They had a decent crowd with a few there to watch the Liverpool/Arsenal game. We ordered some Enat Kitfo and Chekina Tibs. The Kitfo was seasoned perfectly with the right Eti spiced butter amount. Tibs was tender and lived up to the Chekina billing. We chose the Teff Injera which is the way to go. A good variety with all of the Ethiopian favorites & some surprises (Tuna Kitfo!) Cozy Dining area with a smaller bar. Breakfast looked good also. Service was attentive and friendly. Ended up getting the same dishes to go. Portions are generous with reasonable prices. Don't miss the Chekina Tibs!

Jordan T.

Yelp
I can only comment on the food because I've never dined in before but it's very delicious. I always get the vegetarian platter. I don't exactly know the names of what I'm eating but I know I like it. You get a lot of options and get to try a bunch of different types of food. The ingera is very good, could be a bit more sour in my opinion but I still love it.

Lindsay H.

Yelp
My biggest gripe with Enat is the to-go packaging! I understand the reasoning behind their thinking, but it feels extremely wasteful placing each component in individual plastic cups! I also feel like the individual cups reduce the portion sizes being served. I ordered the Vegetarian Combination with Whole Fish, the Enat Kitfo and Ye Chikina Tibs, and an extra order of Gomen. My favorite part of the meal was the Whole Fish. It was incredibly crispy on the outside and nice and flaky on the inside. Sadly, they forgot to include our order of Gomen. I would eat here again, but it wouldn't be in my top choices of Ethiopian restaurants to go to in this area.

Monica T.

Yelp
Giving this a 5 for flavor & authenticity. We got the veggie combo platter and the Shennt Tibs (rib eye tips). The meat was so tender and the spices are just so satisfying. I'd order that again for sure. The flavors of the veggie platter were great, every bite was different and there was a lot of variety. I especially liked all of the lentil sides, green beans and cabbage. They also served us each our own plate of enjera, which was a nice touch. I felt like I ate a ton, yet we still had a ton of leftovers. Spice soaked enjera & veggies for breakfast the next day was mmmm good. Giving it a 3 on presentation, as 3 of the side dishes were ice cold, as if they had just come out of the fridge and went straight on the platter. The enjera When our server was present, she was great, but we waited over an hour for the check. The music was also super loud & varied in octave from loud to louder throughout our time there, and most of the time we were the only patrons dining in (it was a weeknight). I enjoyed the music but it was tough on the conversation. I would order takeout from here, because the food was amazing, but probably wouldn't dine in again.

Elizabeth S.

Yelp
Great option for Ethiopian in the area with decent parking. Stopped by for dinner with friends and we ordered the veggie combo with two meats - it was the perfect amount for three people.

Allen H.

Yelp
The takeaway: passable but there are better Ethiopian options within 15 minutes of here. We ordered two different types of tibs as well as the veggie combo. They didn't have goden tibs for whatever reason so I had to settle to beef tibs. It was okay, nothing special - definitely not on par with the crispy meat served at places like Enjera and Zenebech. The veggie platter was fine, but nothing to write home about. Two of the veggie sides we didn't finish because they tasted very exotic. The most appalling part of the meal was when we were charged $8 for injera bread - our server kept on trying to sell us on their special house injera but we told her that we just wanted the regular. For some reason she brought us 3 orders of the house injera anyways. It was okay and a little more sour than the American injera but we definitely didn't order it and didn't appreciate being charged for three orders of it. We won't be back.

David W.

Yelp
As someone without much experience in Ethiopian food, the staff made me quite comfortable and explained the menu to me. The wait staff was very friendly, and helped our large party without any problems. Don't miss ordering the hot tea, it was beyond comparison! The ambiance was pretty neat, next time we will check out the game room.

Chi S.

Yelp
Great food. Very friendly service! We love this place. We've come here post pandemic and food was still awesome.

R.K. N.

Yelp
My go to place for Good Ethiopian food in No Va. Their vegetarian combo is very good. We usually do carry out from this place. The last one was not up to par with previous experiences, but will retry hoping that was a onetime thing

Gina G.

Yelp
Tried Enat for the first time and had a delicious takeout order. The vegetarian platter is my all time favorite Ethiopian dish and the take here at Enat is quite interesting, including some stews and flavors I haven't tried before. I particularly liked the darker lentils seasoned with berbere. Combining bites always results in amazing mouthfuls. Also ordered from the breakfast menu the kinche (cracked wheat Ethiopian butter mitmita) and it was my FAVORITE dish we tried. It is small pieces of bready, fried, well-seasoned, and boldly flavored bites. I wouldn't recommend the sambusa, wasn't the best I've had. Overall, I recommend trying this restaurant to expand your Ethiopian food experiences in the DMV area.

Cheryl D.

Yelp
Wonderful local restaurant with delicious, fresh food. We had the whole fish and vegetarian platter. The fish was cooked perfectly, and portions of everything were generous. The ribeye tibs were tender and delicious. It's a little bit of a drive for us but well worth it, and beats the ordeal of driving into DC for our favorite comfort food.

Christine M.

Yelp
I grew up right by this place but for some reason had not tried it out until recently. Obviously the area is known for Ethiopian food but this place was really good in its own right. We got the vegetarian combo, the enat kitfo, and the yebeg (lamb) tibs. Everything was beautiful and full of flavor. For takeout, each item in the veggie combo came in its own small plastic container so it's definitely a good option if you're looking to do takeout since nothing will get soggy. We ordered an extra side of injera but ended up with a ton of it since it seems that the entrees themselves come with injera too. As a note, remember to mix up the butter with the kitfo as I forgot to do so until later!

Jane J.

Yelp
Delicious food, laid back atmosphere, friendly staff, great price! Vegetable Combination was wonderful, great variety!

Rachel A.

Yelp
Cold, stank, tasteless, so unenvironmentally friendly they should be ashamed, and even the enjera was bad. I've complained numerous times, I don't even care if I get my money back. I just think this restaurant shouldn't be allowed to exist. I hope nobody else makes the same mistake I did ordering from there. CUPS OF GREASE!

Sarah J.

Yelp
Hole in the wall but the vibe is so much fun! Came on a Saturday night to fun happy Loud Ethiopian music and fantastic food- injeera and veggie combo with lamb was excellent and we shared a plate. Huge portions...

Rachel Z.

Yelp
I was only recently introduced to Ethiopian food and I am hooked. I came to Enat on a weekend for lunch with a friend. I walked in right in the middle of a soccer game and the restaurant was pretty packed with people eating and watching the game. It was definitely an interesting atmosphere because it was loud and people were cheering but I didn't mind it at all. My friend and I ordered a veggie combo and added one of their beef tibs. The combo is huge! It was an amazing way to try a little bit of everything. I think I loved every single veggie sauce and the meat was just as delicious. The waitress was super nice and checked in on us often, making sure that we had all the injera that we needed. I will definitely be back!

Sanjib S.

Yelp
The food used to be good. The quality has dropped quite a bit. We order chicken Doro wat, veggie combo and fried Fish. Fried fish is basically throwing a whole fish in the deep fryer. Fish was moist but lacked flavor. Could not tell that it is Etopian. The vegetable were the best part. The beets are tasty and the other vegetables are pretty good. The Doro Wat was horrible. Chicken was tougher than leather and not edible. Told the wait staff and they did not seem to shocked. They did credit for the chicken. If you live by it might be worth another try. I would see many Etopians in the restaurant.

Rose F.

Yelp
Straight out AMAZING. Everything was incredibly tasty and reasonably priced. My mom and I got a platter and had 2 portions of leftovers. Flavourful meat, fluffy injera and wonderful condiments. Try the lamb tibs!

Kristen W.

Yelp
I love Ethiopian food but this place is subpar. I ordered the veggie combo with fish. OMG there was literally no seasoning. Everything tasted the same. I had to continue to add salt and pepper throughout the entire meal. I wouldn't recommend or come back. Terrible! There is a place called Enjera Restaurant and they are definitely much tastier than this.

Dee R.

Yelp
I've only eaten at an authentic Ethiopian restaurant twice before so was looking forward to it. I was not disappointed. Just passing thru, from Alabama (we don't have many, if any, Ethiopian restaurants) we found this place on yelp and ventured in Part bar part small restaurant. Very casual. Sunday afternoon football on the tvs at the bar, and seated in a booth of the restaurant were two elderly men eating w their hands Ah. When in Rome. The waiter wasn't too familiar with the menu so he grabbed the nearby waitress who was on point with her suggestions for newbies. We ordered the veggie sampler and then apparently a lamb-sampler of sorts as well In a nutshell ALL the food was delicious! Presentation of itself not bad: just very different than the average American fare. One big plate centered in table, where the server dumped varying small bowls of food to spots on the big round plate. Perhaps 2-3oz servings of the variety of vegetables and lentils. Example: two types of collards/one chopped, the other leafy but both flavored TOTALLY different. Same with the lentils. Probably 3-4 versions/half smashed, not smashed, red, brown, yellow. But each w a unique texture and flavor so you don't realize it's all "just lentils" Quite often Mexican food has the same beans -rice-chicken-beef, just in different formats, but ultimately w the same flavor. THIS was the same food, but presented in "ten different flavors and textures"! Eating with hands was different. Using the "spongy-flat ?bread" you can pick up food OR simply dig in with your fingers. We never saw utensils, but I imagine they would have them if you asked: we didn't ask. Def recommend this place. And may look for it the next time I pass through the area Note: it's in a small "strip mall" of about 5 tiny stores, on a corner. Parking is awful; few spaces to be shared by a store, hairdresser, another restaurant:fast food place - so tricky. We ride around the Bldg twice before a spot came open

Yuchen Z.

Yelp
This place was right up the street and we wanted to add some spice into our mundane weekday. It was the perfect spot to get our cravings satisfied. Got the Vegetarian combo and the first Tibs on the menu. The food was really really delicious and so perfectly priced. It was our first time here so we wanted to try all their offerings in the combo but we definitely have some favorites and didn't care for some others. The waitress said next time, we can choose to omit the ones we didn't like and get double portions of the dishes we did like. She even said if we didn't want to choose from the beginning, we can wait until we finish and then choose what we want to eat more of!!! How accommodating!! I love it when the restaurant actually cares about their customers. What we got was plenty for 2 so we really got to stuff our faces. Unlimited injera and all. Omg so good. Get the Groupon coupon and get even more cash back. It's a great deal!! Since it's so close and delicious, we will def. be regulars here!

Annzie A.

Yelp
This was my second visit to an Ethiopian restaurant, but first visit here. My reason for revealing that is that I've never tried the shareable dishes before, so it was quite an experience. I wasn't too thrilled about sharing from the same plate. However, now I know, I can easily ask for a separate plate. The staff was super friendly. They fully explained everything when we were ordering. We ordered the vegetarian combination (it pretty much includes everything from the Vegetarian Entree section of the menu) with a side of Lamb Tibs (I believe it was the Yebeg Wot). Unfortunately, we couldn't remember the names of the vegetarian sides. Initially they ask which one we want an extra serving of...so we chose the collard greens. Later we found out we can have unlimited refills of all the vegetarian sides. They were constantly coming by to refill our sides and injera. I didn't eat the lamb, so can't comment on that. However, regarding the vegetarian options...we really liked the Misser Watt (it wasn't that spicy for me). I thought the Gomen (collard greens) were a bit bland. The restaurant itself wasn't in the best condition. The ceiling was pretty worn and the bathroom/backroom was about the same. One thing to note about parking: it is very limited. This restaurant is located in a busy intersection and a small strip mall. There is parking available in the back; the spots in the front are definitely tight spaces.

Lyu A.

Yelp
First time for Ethiopian food. It was awesome!! We ordered lamb tibs and vege combo, which is super enough for two, and all tastes good.

Music M.

Yelp
I am not Ethiopian but am somebody who grew up with ethiopian friends my whole life-meaning I have an affinity to good ethiopian food let me tell you...not only is this restaurant's food delicious-they are among the few that make tibs vegan! recently turned vegan and its such a blessing being able to enjoy the flavor of tibs without beef. I have tried all of their vegetarian meals and they are all delicious...the injera was warm fluffy and tasty. 10/5 and the prices are quite fair. staff is friendly and family like. great ambiance and spirit. whoever is cooking this food put their whole elbow in it!

Sampad D.

Yelp
This is a nice Ethiopian restaurant, we wanted to be here after reading the reviews. Its in a small strip mall and don't let that dissuade you. The ambiance is OK. The servers are friendly and nice, they took time to explain the menu as well. The food is great, loved the lamb dish, it had the right spice and was awesome.he chicken was ok, the gravy was good but the chicken was bit hard and not very fleshy. The fried fish was also great ! Overall a good experience !

Namrata S.

Yelp
Two star purely because of the lack of communication skills. The lady who took our order seemed sweet but we had difficulty understanding her when we asked about certain dishes. We ended up ordering kitfo like she suggested but she never asked us how we'd like it cooked. The kitfo was not cooked well like we would have preferred and because of this, we weren't able to enjoy our dinner properly.

Greg K.

Yelp
Did not meet my expectations in comparison to other Ethiopian restaurants in the area. Food had no flavor whatsoever also I don't like my food deconstructed

Samyucktha K.

Yelp
This places never fails to fill your tummy with yumminess. We've been here thrice and the people there have been always super friendly and very welcoming. First time was for dinner along with another couple. We got two Veggie combos with whole fish at $19 (we get this everytime!) easily serves 2. I've always enjoyed Ethiopian wine and ended up ordering a bottle, without asking for it's price. My bad, the wine alone was $36, which was almost the price of our entire meal. NOTE: This place doesn't have a drinks menu. Hence, ask for the price before you order any drinks, unlike me! As far as food is concerned, this is by far the best Ethiopian food I've had in the area. Delicious curries, served over soft, spongy injera. You get unlimited injeras until you dine. Just ask. The flavors are too the point. well-cooked and ooze out on the injera underneath and that's the best! My husband loves the fish and its served with fresh lemon on the side. The flavors are very close to Indian food. Its super healthy too. They can work on the ambiance. On my third visit, I noticed they had updated their wall paintings. Place is pretty small, noisy and could get intimidating. Service is one thing I love about this place, after two terrible experiences at another place. You get served within 5-10 mins here! Overall, pocket friendly, real good Ethiopian culinary experience.

Sarah M.

Yelp
A couple of weekends ago, my family and I had a taste for Ethiopian food so we decided to take a mini-road trip (30 minute drive) to take a break from being indoors and treat ourselves. The take-out process was pretty easy. We called in our order and they let us know that our food would be ready for curbside pick up in 30 minutes. We ordered two orders of cheken tibs, two orders of kitfo, and a sambusa. I went into the establishment to pick up my food, with my mask on, while my family waited in the car. The woman inside who rang up my order had on a mask as well. She asked for my name, I paid for my food, and she handed me my to go order. Very easy. One thing we should have done was check our order before we left the parking lot, however. When we got home we realized we didn't receive the sambusa, which was upsetting because we were so looking forward to eating it! That said, the food was delicious! Each of the dishes we ordered was fresh and separately packaged. I would definitely recommend ordering take out from this Ethiopian spot.

Ana P.

Yelp
I LOVE this place! My chef friend took me here for the first time about a year ago. We had the vegetarian combo and the fried fish. It was the first time I've had Ethiopian food. It's very interesting, healthy and super flavorful. The injera and the different sauces, textures and flavors. We accompanied our meal with cinnamon tea. Today, I went with my husband and ordered the vegetarian combination and lamb tibs. I do not eat meat anymore so I did not try the lamb. He loved it! There are some salads on the veggie combo and everything is so fresh! Absolutely delicious! He was an Ethiopian food virgin and he raved about the whole experience. I tried the Ethiopian beer and it was really good, malty and extra cold which is an awesome bonus! It went perfect with our meal. The prices are very reasonable. What's not to love? The service was excellent. It looks to me like it is a family owned business. We would definitely be back and will recommend it!

Mo M.

Yelp
We got a veggie combo with lamb tibs "Yebeg Tibs" and spicy chicken "Doro WOT". Our order was served on one big tray topped with a sheet of injera. At the end of the meal, the injera sheet, was soaked with from the topping juices toppings and tasted so falvorful. A LOT of food. We were all starving (4 people) and all felt very full at end of meal. I enjoyed everything we ordered and would highly recommend to give it a try. One star off for slow service, The place was not busy, but the service was SLOW and servers just disappeared for awhile.

Yelp
Really delicious! Ordered carry out. We got the vegetarian combo and the Enat combination... was really enough food for 4 people ! Everything was delicious. We'll be ordering from there again.

Yelp
This was the first and last restaurant we ate at when my husband and I lived in Alexandria for 5 years. It is still our favorite Ethiopian restaurant even after moving across the pond to Maryland, where supposedly the best Ethiopian restaurants are (around Silver Spring). Whenever we find ourselves back in the area, we almost always come back here for a bite to eat. The veggie combo is delicious, healthy, and generously portioned for its price. It is our go-to meal for a party of 2. If we want to indulge, their Ethiopian beer and honey wine are nice as well. We often need to explicitly get the attention of the waitresses and waiters to order food, request drink refills, or get the check, but I think this is just a reflection of Ethiopian custom (someone correct me if I am wrong) where they expect customers to linger and mingle for a long while, and bugging customers immediately for such actions may be rude in their eyes. Anyway, we obviously non-Ethiopians have been regulars there for years, and they happily recognize us and treat us well each time, keeping this custom in mind. Depending on the time, parking can be tight. All but one time we managed to find a spot; when we couldn't, we parked at the big strip mall across the street, close to Total Wine.

Yelp
COVID-19 update: Enat offers curbside carryout. Their phone number is posted on the storefront so you can call them when you arrive. I ordered through ChowNow so payment was taken care of ahead of time. Employee wearing a mask came out and delivered the food (in a nice paper bag with handles) and drink to my car. Our honey wine was in a to-go cup that was taped closed on top, so it fit well in my car's cup holder. We ordered the vegetarian combination and wondered how they'd package it--well! Each dish (stew, salad, etc.) is in its own small (maybe half cup) container, and those containers were in ballpark-style cardboard trays, so everything traveled well. It included plenty of injera. We always enjoy this meal in the restaurant and enjoyed it just as much at home. It's a fun eating experience!

Yelp
This was my first time trying Ethiopian food and it was delicious. So healthy! I loved how colorful the food was, with a lot of vegetables and lentils. It reminded me of Indian food and I definitely would eat Ethiopian food again without hesitation. All the things on the platter were cooked well, seasoned well, and tasty. I didn't like the cold stuff just cause it threw me off with the warm bread it came with, but I would have had no trouble eating it by itself either. I had the vegetarian combination and that was just one of the several vegetarian options I could have had. Needless to say, I will be coming back! I came to Enat on a Sunday night and the place was lively and the workers are so kind. It honestly felt like I was walking into a family home. They really take care of you and are super friendly. The space can get really crowded and the location isn't the best, and when it's really busy the service can be slow. Parking can also be a bit of a hassle as the lot is small. I had to park in the back. Other than those few things, I had a great experience.

Yelp
This by far is my favorite Ethiopian restaurant. Although its might look sketchy from outside because of the dark windows and location the food and service is amazing. Ive been a few Ethiopian places now and have compared various dishes and I just love the food and flavors here. We ordered the vegetarian platter and the zilzil tibs and minchet abesh. I was starving and completely forgot to take a photo and I hate myself for not taking a video also. Each side dish for the vegetarian platter came out in small individual bowls and our waitress explained each side dish as she poured it onto the injera. They presentation was amazing. Parking can be difficult to get in the front but they have additional parking on the side of the building. I think Im down looking for new Ethiopian restaurants now and will stick to Enat. PS. They also have a discount on Groupon eats

Yelp
Delicious take out food. I ordered online through the website. When you pull up, you can call the number on their front door and they will bring your order out to your car. It was so easy. When I arrived home, the veggie combo was exactly what my heart and stomach needed. All of the food was neatly packed into separate containers. I thoroughly enjoyed this lunch. Check it out!

Yelp
Enat is a great option for anyone who is looking into trying new cuisine! I came here with a group of six for my roommate's birthday. We didn't need any type of reservation and the restaurant had plenty of seating options. The decor is very reminiscent of a mom and pop style place. As soon as we were seated, the waitress came by and explained the menu, which is definitely needed because most things are written in Ethiopian (with small English descriptions underneath). She recommended that we get two vegetarian combos and a single meat dish to please me, who needs at least one protein at any meal. She was absolutely spot-on! The portions were perfect for us! We barely finished the entire meal. Ethiopian food is definitely a communal experience because everything is piled on to a large plate in the middle that everyone picks at. I loved the injera, a spongy bread used to get all the sauces and fillings. Throughout the meal, the injera on the plate soaks up all the yummy sauces and becomes the best part of the meal. But you have to let it wait! There were too many individual portions of the combo to name but they were all delicious. The combo is definitely the way to go to get a sizeable taste of everything. The price is definitely a plus for those coming in large groups. Using the Groupon+ deal I was able to score 25% off, making the whole meal come out to ~$7.50 per person. All in all, a great dining experience for both vegetarians and meat-lovers.
