The 16 Best Wine Bars In Rome - Rome - The Infatuation

"Enoteca L’Antidoto is the perfect spot for a big group since you can only order bottles from the wine list. Go all in on a juicy Trebbiano from Tuscany while you snack on a flatbread with yogurt and seasonal vegetables or some tuna crudo paired with a spicy caponata. The wine is all natural, and the rotating menu features non-traditional dishes, with most ingredients sourced locally from the Lazio region. Dessert is a must—we’re still thinking about a plum sorbet topped with buttery roasted hazelnuts, almonds, and fragrant fennel seeds we had on a recent visit." - annie replogle

The 18 Best Restaurants In Trastevere - Rome - The Infatuation

"Enoteca L’Antidoto is the perfect spot for a lighter dinner and some truly excellent wine. You can only order bottles from the mostly natural list, but take that as an excuse to try a juicy Trebbiano from Tuscany while you snack on a flatbread with yogurt and in-season vegetables or some tuna crudo paired with a spicy caponata. All the food on the rotating menu is going to be solid and interesting, plus most of their ingredients are sourced locally from the surrounding Lazio region. The 42 Best Restaurants in Rome

"From the off, it’s clear that Enotica L’antidoto is very cool. The warmly-lit interior is lined with brick arches and exposed cement walls, all covered by the original beam roof. It’s exactly the kind of place you go for a bottle or two of organic natural wines with friends, alongside a creative menu of small plates. This is a local crowd who live in and around Trastevere; fashion types discussing their day over dinner; a couple in yoga outfits catching up over a bottle of organic red from Puglia, mats tucked away in the corner. The team run monthly chef residencies, so there’s always someone new coming up with a creative new menu. Dishes are made to pair with the wines: there are figs wrapped in delicate slices of lard and savory tarts with olives fennel and green beans. On our visit it was the very un-Italian fried egg sandwich that had everyone talking, pressed as it was between two slices of toasted sourdough with rocket and anchovies. Even if you’re not ordering food, there’s a bag of complimentary bread and cultured, salted butter to go with your wine." - Maresa Manara

The 20 Best Restaurants In Rome 2024 - Rome - The Infatuation

"You’ll want to come to this natural wine bar located on a quiet street in Trastevere with a friend or two, as they only sell by the bottle. Inside, you’ll find one room with high-top tables and six spots at the bar that look into the kitchen. There’s a chef residency program, so every few months there’s someone new creating a limited menu of creative small plates. Not necessarily Italian, you can expect things like figs wrapped in transparent slices of lardo, a savory foie gras tart, and a deceptively simple brown paper bag of fresh bread and a dish of cultured salted butter. Make a reservation in advance, as walk-in space is limited." - Gillian Mcguire, Team Infatuation

This was a special experience. Every dish we ordered came and surprised us. The explanations on how the food was made, where the ingredients came from was really interesting. Delicious and friendly. Also one of the most clear wine explanations we have ever experienced. A restaurant that delivers the passion of the people running it. Thanks

Vibrant, unique and bursting with flavor. The natural wines are a great addition. Great service and recommendations, the food was so good that I forgot to take pictures of all the dishes.

What a treat! This place must be on everyone’s must visit list if you love food and wine. Reading through the high praised reviews, this was on my list of places I had to visit. Before visiting, I wasn’t sure if it was more geared towards eating or drinking but soon realized that it is for both. The inside is simple and very sexy, with dark lighting and simple table lamps. Then the menu is brought - on this visit there was a guest forager and the menu was based on the seasonal products picked locally. Everything sounded interesting and we were sad that we only had limited stomach space. As soon as we ordered the food, the staff also came up with a few options for wines. Given we are not familiar with Italian wines or natural wines, the gentle man gave a through but easy to understand descriptions of each wine and found a nice wine to start with. There came the starters, the pickled vegetables with different marinade - some were sour, spicy, bitter, sweet and beautiful combinations to kick start the dinner. Then there was the beautiful local vegetables and herbs with aioli. The aioli was soooooo silky, rich and flavorful, we had to ask for bread, and the chef came out and gave us a big spoon of the aioli and we were in heaven. On with the marinated fish - perfectly cooked, the more you chew, the flavour just oozes out of the dish and the balance of the delicate herbs and citrus was perfect. We then went onto try a more adventurous wine option again recommended by the staff. This was also a wonderful accompaniment to the dishes we were having. The remaining dishes were steak tartar, mushroom with squid (which was my favourite dish) and lamb skewers. Every single dish was so flavorful and made me smile every time I put a mouthful. This is a local gem and such a wonderful wine bar. They only sell wines by the bottle but it makes sense because you’d want to stay here for the whole bottle. The service was so warm and caring, from the floor staff to the chefs who were able to explain dishes and wines in English which was also a great help. It will be on my must visit in Rome even if you must take a taxi to get there. Thank you so much!

First things first, if you want to eat here, make your booking. It’s popular for very good reasons. Second, the chef and hostess are excellent hosts. Speaking excellent Italian, English and French they put all customers at ease, with a warm welcome and friendly guidance through the food and wine choices. Third, the food is exceptional. Crafted with thought, love, skill, care and passion. The dishes are small and designed for sharing - honestly not my favourite way of dining, but here it works perfectly - so explore the whole menu and enjoy the journey. Sit at the counter if you can and watch the talented chef at work.

Enoteca L’antidoto was the absolute highlight of our trip to Rome. So much that we went two days in a row. Their selection of (natural) wine is great. The food was absolutely amazing. Just order the whole menu while you’re there. The service and vibe is personal and warm. Considering how busy Roma has gotten, this is a true gem!

Worst experience ever! We made a reservation for July 19 for 8 pm and I had to give my credit card details in case we would not show up. When we arrived we were not hungry because of the extreme heat and I also had some stomach issues but we still wanted to drink something because we could not cancel the reservation 24 hours before the reservation time without paying a no show fee of 40 euros. We were told that they only have wine to drink and that we cannot buy a glass of wine, only a bottle. Since we did not want to drink a whole bottle of wine, we had no choice but to leave. Today I saw on my credit card statement that they charged the no show fee of 40 euros although we were there! Never again!!

We loved this place. Perfect natural wine and small dish recommendations, all set with a chill late evening atmosphere (nice vinyl collection).

Really cool wine bar! Wish we had time to have dinner here, the menu looked awesome. Wines also looked incredible but they’re only sold by the bottle and we only had time for one drink. We opted for a beer and cocktail which were both great.
