"This South Bay chain is famous for two things: its $3 fish taco special on Wednesdays (available weekly, except during Lent) and its sautéed spicy yellow peppers dusted with chile powder available for free at the salsa bar. We love that the fish tacos here come with hulking battered filets (tilapia or halibut, depending on the season) so substantial that wrapping the soft corn tortillas around them is like swaddling an offensive lineman in a toddler blanket. Ensenada’s is also one of the few spots that lets you swap flour tortillas for the more traditional corn, which is especially tasty on their signature Baja taco loaded with half shrimp, half fish." - Garrett Snyder

"Lawndale might not be that close to the beach, but that doesn’t get in the way of it being home to some ridiculously good fish tacos. This place is technically called Ensenada’s Surf N Turf Grill, but everyone still uses the old name - Baja California Fish Tacos. The star of the menu here comes with lightly-battered fish fried to order, just the right amounts of spice, cabbage, creamy sauce, and a double-layer of flour tortillas that won’t fall apart. The shrimp tacos are good too, but we prefer to go for multiples of the fish." - Jess Basser Sanders

Incredibly amazing customer service on top of some of the best Mexican food I have ever had in my entire life! I must say the yellow peppers in the free condiments bar are to die for!!😱😍 I will be definitely always come back to this place when in the area!

I’ve been coming to this place for years. Their Baja Tostado is my favorite 🤌 Today I tied their burrito… Amazing. Thank you guys for your exceptional service and great quality.

Google
I really like the fish and shrimp tacos from here. I have since moved from LA to the Midwest, but every time I have business in LA, I come here to get my fish tacos 🌮 😋. Its usually pretty busy with limited seating and sitting, but it's worth it. I love the batter for both the fish and shrimp. I love the accessories section as well with the onions, peppers, limes, etc.

Google
Sadly, the food was mediocre and not tasty. My Ensenada Surf n Turf burrito was served cold and oily. There was NO special flavor or anything that made it good. The asada was flavorless and shrimp had brown clumps in the tail. I should’ve went to Angel’s Tijuana Tacos. I would’ve saved lots and actually enjoyed the food. I threw 80% of the burrito away. On the other hand, my boyfriend enjoyed the shrimp quesadilla. I was super excited because of the reviews but it was nothing worth coming back for. For $50… they can keep the burrito with peas.

Google
Got a number three combo that comes with one fish taco and one shrimp taco. Comes beer battered with cabbage, tomatoes, added mayo and hot sauce with lemon. Also with beans and rice on the side and a drink. Turn around for the food was really quick within 5 min! Parking is really dense so had to wait a bit but worth the wait. I give this place an honest 5/5 for quality and service.

Google
We had an excellent meal at Ensenada surf and turf. We ordered tacos, both fish and beef and fish and chips and surf and turf burrito. To drink we had a Horchata. I would say the food was very good and the beef was very nicely. It was they gave us a lot of french fries with the fish and chips and the burrito had a lot of food inside including shrimp and beef. If your hungry I recommend going to this restaurant. It’s really popular so there’s gonna be a lot of people but it is well worth the wait. Get out there order your food and enjoy. Let the falcon fly!

If you’re ever in the Southbay in LA do yourself a favor and source this seafood gem. It’s ALWAYS busy and I don’t like waiting in line but I will here. The benefit of seafood being fresh is because they sell enough that it’s always excellent. There providers must love the account and take good care of them. Okay, ceviche is a must do with tostada chips, avocado and a slew of hot sauces and a self serve salsa station that also offers marinated white onion ribbons and wonderful whole roasted yellow chiles dusted with a red tangy red spice. Tacos come with a variety of seafood options, I suggest the battered fish as a beginning test since you will come back for them anytime you go again, just trust this. Prices are reasonable and the staff are very happy, why not, everyone eating there are friggin happy too. Parking can be a buzzkill but you’ll figure it out.

If you love fish tacos, this is the place. The food here never disappoints. Have been coming to this location for years and the food is consistently amazing! Huge portions of fish, everything is fresh. They definitely set the bar for how a fish taco should be made.

Yelp
I'm a regular here, and I absolutely love it! The Baja taco is a favorite of mine--super tasty and quite filling. I'm also a big fan of their tostadas and the Campechanas. Honestly, I've yet to try anything on the menu that I don't like--everything is just so good! If I had to be picky, I'd say the aguas frescas could use a little improvement. The place is usually pretty busy, so finding parking or a spot to dine in can sometimes be tricky. That said, the staff is always cool and super helpful, which makes the experience even better!

Tod B.

Yelp
Ok viewers I keep coming to this place because it is off the chain delicious When we travel from out of town here I make it point to stop here at least twice while in L.A because they serve the best Mexican food ever Our food was flavorful and hearty portions I love the yellow peppers by the Dozen I tell you. You must stop by here and devour your hearts delight

Maruko X.

Yelp
Ambiance: it's a corner spot with private parking lot, it feels very chill inside, limited seats for large group, and it serves more like a place for takeout or quick bites Service: very friendly and patient with questions, provided useful suggestion Food: seafood emphasized menu for taco, burritos, tostadas, ceviche etc., they have the self serving bar for yellow peppers, lemon slices, and onions BAJA TACO Grilled - **** Shrimp & Fish, fresh taste, recommend BAJA TACO Battered - **** Shrimp & Fish, crispy texture, recommend ENSENADA TACO - *** Surf n Turf, shrimp and beef, average taste Ceviche Tostada Baja Style - ***** mixed seafood, including shrimp, octopus, scallop, fish, conch, clam, imitation crab etc., fresh and tasty, highly recommend Price: generous portions and reasonable prices for the premium quality, about $20+ per person for a very full filling meal

Chanel L.

Yelp
Fried shrimp tacos are amazing. Same with the Baja burrito. Both were great portion sizes, especially the burrito. That thing was like 2-3lbs. I'd skip the beans and rice but make sure you grab a pepper from their salsa bar. They season it with something that tastes savory and sweet. They accidentally served us grilled shrimp tacos instead of breaded and those were underwhelming. Im so glad they fixed the order and gave me the breaded option. My friends ordered the ceviche which was super flavorful and a great portion for someone that wants something light. They also ordered the sting ray taco, which was fatty and super fishy. It kind of had the consistency of a scallop. They would not recommend ordering that in the future.

Vanesa R.

Yelp
Some of the most fresh Fish tacos I've had in the South Bay. This location is my favorite. The customer service is great here. At times the line can get a bit big but they get to everyone pretty quick. Love that this location has a little outdoor patio section to eat if the indoor area is full. The freshness of the tacos and fish are great, if you get the grilled or battered they are both delicious! Their Tostadas de Ceviche are so so good! Anything and everything you get hits the spot. I like to get them plain and have the toppings on the side that way they don't get soggy. Their bathrooms are always clean & there is always plenty of parking inside or on the street.

Rony J.

Yelp
The place isn't too big, but the food is awesome I love this place. Everything is fresh and tasty. If you want a fish taco this restaurant does not disappoint. Quick and great service

Yelp
My sea food spot!! Not many places with a great food and decent prices A less a go there every week

Kevin J.

Yelp
I was feeling some fish tacos, so I decided to try this place based off the good ratings on yelp and I'm glad I did. Its right off a big street and from the outside, it looks like a really average restaurant. Once you go inside, you'll notice how crowded it actually is and how its hard to find seating. I'll caveat that this place isnt that big, but its always nice to see a ton of people going in and out. I tried a couple of fish tacos (grilled and battered) for variety as well as ceviche and an Ensenada burrito. I know this place is popular for their fish tacos (ranging from $4-$5 each), but i actually really enjoyed their burrito. Not only was it big in size, but it was also full of shrimp that was cooked perfectly and beef that was juicy and tender. It also had a creaminess to it, which helped bring all the flavors together. I would definitely come back to get it again. The prices here are not super cheap compared to other mexican joints, but the price is well worth it.

Yelp
If you guys ever raise your prices or close down I will cry! Broke full time student here and I can get a breaded fish taco and 1 order of regular shrimp ceviche and leave feeling full and satisfied. It is very affordable as well. One of the few places where you can say that nowadays! And I know this is part of a chain but I used to work by the el Segundo location and that one does not even compare and 3 times in a row they over charged or messed up my order. So that is why I love this location. The ambiance is small, and always crowded (because the food is mouthwatering and FRESSSSH!) They even have a side bar where u can get peppers, limes and onions. Sometimes those look a mess and sometimes the limes are not fresh but still edible. Thanks again for having delicious and quality food for a great price!

Ethan P.

Yelp
Solid tacos. My favorite is the fish taco(on Wednesday they are on sale). You won't be disappointed but be sure to go early since there's always a line. Service is fast. Pro tip:make sure to ask for the white sauce

Bethany J.

Yelp
This place was recommended by a coworker for having excellent food, and man oh man was she right. They have such a variety of food to choose from it makes it hard to choose. The great thing is you can try something different everyone you go. It's a small place but they do have indoor and outdoor seating. You get free seasoned chili peppers to take as well as salsa and pickled onions to complement your meal. The burritos a ginormous and can be shared depending on your appetite lol. The food is delicious. I usually get the Surf and Turf Burrito with shrimp, and steak and all the fillings inside. The service is always friendly and fast. It may be a short wait because it's crowded due to the food being so good. They have free parking but the lot is small. Anywho you're going for the food and not to park overnight lol.

Rajiv P.

Yelp
Fish tacos - excellent. Maybe fresher on Wed because they're cheaper Al pastor - mediocre. I wouldn't order this again Onions and yellow chile were good to eat with the tacos Small parking lot

Charrise L.

Yelp
Took a friend out for lunch today and she suggested this place. The parking lot is always full, which is a very good sign. Today was no different. Quick service with a friendly staff. A few tables, long tables lining the walls to accommodate more and patio seating. Condiment bar that included slices of lime and huge peppers that would probably create smoke coming out of my head. I had a grilled shrimp taco and a battered fish taco. It came with fresh shredded cabbage, pico de gallo and a cream sauce. They were so delicious. The table also had bottles of various hot sauces for you to choose from. I don't have a photo of the food because the service was so fast, I was so hungry, so I just started chowing down. Don't come for me. Chill, will ya! Just come and try it for yourself. Business was brisk the entire time we were there. No joke. Ok, bye.

Kaya Z.

Yelp
My favorite Baja style food near my parents' home. A Southbay local joint been here for years. Fish tacos are must try, not any less than many hyped spots in SD. Ceviche and seafood cocktails are top notch stuff, always good. Love the food and service. Parking can be very hard during peak hours. I do enjoy dining in here, it's a different experience. But most of the time I have to do to-go orders.

David M.

Yelp
Been coming here for a very long time and have always loved their fish tacos. Great prices and service. Only downside is parking and seating. They have other locations but I've only tried this once so far. Definitely a must visit.

Roy L.

Yelp
Ensenada's Surf N Turf is fantastic. The burritos are huge and filled with shrimp and fish and meat. They are totally worth it. Come on any night and you'll usually find a sizeable line during dinner time. There are two weekday specials that I think are totally worth it. If you come on Tuesday nights, it's Taco Tuesdays where Asada, Carnitas, Barbacoa, Pollo and Al Pastor tacos are $2.99 each (see pic). If you come on Wednesday nights, it's Fish Taco nights where fish tacos are $2.99 each (see pic). The only downside is that the parking lot is tiny so finding parking can be a hit or miss. And it's in the cover of Inglewood and Artesia so the traffic can be hectic. But if you can snag a spot then you're golden.

Bettie Z.

Yelp
Excellent food, service was great, friendly staff, and deliciouly fresh and hot food! We will be back!

Jynelle Christine S.

Yelp
The fish tacos are soo good! They aren't just all batter and it has so much fish! The service is also great and very fast. They have a self serve little toppings bar inside with these pickled onions and those are must!!

Anna S.

Yelp
They have so many good items; fish tacos that are flavorful and fresh, delicious shrimp cocktail with a generous portion of shrimp, and fantastic carnitas tacos. I have really enjoyed eating here because everything is delicious!

Eddie D.

Yelp
This spot offers some of the area's finest fish tacos and burritos! The food is consistently fresh, and the service is prompt. Nearly everything I've sampled from the menu has been good! My personal favorite is the Burrito de Pescado; it's both delicious and generously sized, perfect for sharing. Be sure to check out the condiment bar for pickled onions, grilled peppers, and limes/lemons. Parking can be a challenge at this location, especially on discounted Taco Tuesday and Wednesday!

Angela B.

Yelp
Food was amazing! They are so kind and willing to explain menu! I enjoyed my tacos! So much flavor.

Matt T.

Yelp
Pros - Good portions. Average prices. Quick service. Cons - Dirty shop and bland, bland food. Carnitas tasted like it had been frozen. Fish tacos had almost no flavor. Take home hot sauce had zero heat or flavor. Beans and rice - present, but boring. Sadly, for flavor, I'd even recommend something like Rubios over this shop, unless you're really looking for something that has that "authentic divey feel" and don't care about flavor.

Rhonda Z.

Yelp
Delicious! Never disappoints. Everyone always has a smile, which are free. Today I brought my visiting Bestie and she is now a fan.

Beck D.

Yelp
This my go to place to eat with my kids and as well as my lunch break. Fried fish tacos are my go to. So amazing and the place is clean and employees are polite and friendly. Best tacos in the South Bay.

Monica C.

Yelp
While on my way to Manhattan Beach decided to use my Yelp app to find a place for lunch. Wasn't sure what I wanted to eat so kept scrolling through reviews. Came across Ensenada's restaurant and was impressed by the abundance of positive reviews. When arriving the parking lot was completely full and not one spot open. I immediately got even more excited! I knew I was in for some good stuff so I patiently waited in the parking lot and after a few minutes got a parking spot. Glad I was patient because food was excellent. Super fresh and great flavor. I tried the fish tacos, shrimp ceviche, and shrimp cocktail. I am a chile Guerritos person so I absolutely fell in love with their self serve condiment bar which had mounds of them. Absolutely delicious place and can't recommend them enough.

Al H.

Yelp
Went around 11am, it was quiet and there were some people already inside enjoying their food. I brought my fam here bc we wanted to eat something for breakfast but we wanted to eat something else that was not pancakes, hash-browns or eggs. I was craving some battered fish tacos, so then I remembered I've passed by this place so many times, but never stopped by. We ordered our items, and wow FRESH, that's all I was getting in every bite. From the fish tacos to the mojarra plate I got for my dad. Everything was so delicious. The cashier was friendly and kind, even brought out diced jalapeños for my dad (they don't have it in their condiments bar) but he was inclined to ask just in case they had it. That is going above and beyond for your clients! Now I understand why this place is packed. So so good, I couldn't resist not getting 3 more tacos So delicious! Must swing by if you're in the mood for seafood

Anjanette J.

Yelp
I am crazy about tacos. I'm so happy to have found a new spot for fish tacos in City. The tacos are very fresh and are yummy. I have to make myself stop from over indulging.

Anita G.

Yelp
Yessss!!! Been here twice and I swear I'm craving it on a weekly! I've tried the shrimp ceviche tostadas which are my fave!!! They are flavorful and very fresh! I've had the fish tacos and those are a 5/5! Made to eat right away so don't take it to go! I've had the surf and turf, which is shrimp and steak tacos. They are generous with their portions but it wasn't my fave but not bad either. The prices are great for seafood. The place gets busy but they are good about keeping the line moving. It's a little small but they have outdoor seating too. I love that they provide grilled yellow chilis like hole mole and it's self serve! This is a must try!

Lisa N.

Yelp
So delicious! Best fish tacos in the area. Service was quick and easy. Ambiance is a bit loud during lunch time but it feels exciting! Clean and hospitable.

Hai N.

Yelp
Love this place and the fish tacos! Please try their surf and turf burrito. Best I've ever had. If you're on a budget this place is not for you. Quality food doesn't come cheap.

Shawn G.

Yelp
I had driven by this place maybe a hundred times and finally tried it. Really good baja style fish and shrimp tacos. And they have the bomb chiles toreados! Recommend!

Patrick P.

Yelp
Driving around Torrance running some errands and I was in the mood for something different for lunch. I've already gotten my fill of sushi and Hawaiian BBQ. One step inside Ensenada's and I knew I found something truly different and special. If you were to judge a restaurant by its clientele there would be a strong vote of confidence here: lots of people bellying up to the "pepper/condiment bar" and lots of transactions in Spanish. The service was very friendly as I placed my lunch order in. The Ensenada burrito was a large "surf & turf" burrito that was filled with shrimp, asada, rice, and pinto/refried beans (my personal choice vs. black beans.) The shrimp was very well seasoned and they did not skimp on the portions inside the tortilla. I also got some ceviche, which was very well balanced- not too sour! Ensenada is a true gem that feels both authentically Baja Mexican and California at the same time. Pro Tip: There's credit card usage fee of $.90- it's well disclosed but something to know before you leave home.

Tammy C.

Yelp
Without a doubt, this is our favorite taco spot in the area. We typically order the fish tacos and some ceviche and we're never disappointed. The food is consistently fresh and delicious, and we love the variety of unlimited condiments. The service is always super friendly and accommodating. Parking can be a bit challenging but it's manageable. We'll definitely be returning for their weekday specials.

Katie R.

Yelp
Great food! Fast service! Outdoor dining was nice. Great prices! I had the 2 tacos grilled fish combo. It was seasoned well and large portions.

Nafal Z.

Yelp
We tried the fried shrimp tacos, potato tacos and the fish burrito. The burrito is dense and will easily make you feel full as it contains rice, beans, fish and salsa. The shrimp tacos were delicious and so were the beans. The potato tacos I would probably skip next time and get the fish and fries basket that I saw others have. This place was constantly busy and the service was friendly and helpful. Great spot!

Lisa N.

Yelp
Apparently it's rated top 12 best fish tacos in Los Angeles accordingly to LA chefs. Verdict: the hype is def real. Staff were keeping the place nice and clean. Service was fast and friendly. I ordered (2) fried fish tacos (pescado), baja tacos (mix of shrimp and fish), and battered shrimp (camaron). Everything was delicious. Batter was light and airy. Not too oily nor salty. Fish was fresh, flakey, and soft. Cabbage slaw added some freshness to the taco. Taco held up perfectly every time I took a bite. I enjoyed the fish more. I think it's worth it to get the baja taco cause you get a little bit of both shrimp and fish. I normally like getting fried than grilled fish. Overall, I was very satisfied with my tacos and super full off of 4 tacos! Very cheap and totally worth! I would recommend!

Verenice S.

Yelp
The food in this place is DELICIOUS, my husband and I started going to this place when it was still called Baja California. Service was usually a hit or miss lol but that didn't stop us from enjoying these delicious tacos. However I understand life is expensive but the prices on this tacos have become way too much! My husband and I got 6 tacos and 1 drink, I think we paid like $40-50 and when we first started going here it was like $20 for is 2 plus our child. I'm not sure if they still have the same flavor as of recently but I've had their Mojarra, Campechana, Ceviche, Fish and Shrimp Tacos, they haven't disappointed. I recommend this please just be ready to hunt for a table and spend a pretty penny lol

Angelica B.

Yelp
Food is great one of my favorite fish tacos! And condiments are great! Always busy so I call to order to go!

Jesus J.

Yelp
Baja tacos are so goood!! Service is a always fast And place is always clean And staff is always friendly and helpful

Sandy P.

Yelp
Used to be the best around but honestly, the significant price increases have dampened that quite a bit. And we think the Grand Ave El Segundo location makes tastier fish tacos than this (and the Hermosa Beach) locations. Not sure why, but we think smaller piece of fish, less crispy, and too much cabbage. Looking fwd to see the new Gardena location!

Erin C.

Yelp
Good food! Great service. My kids love the ceviche. You know it's good when there's always a line out the door.

Jairo V.

Yelp
The service here is always great, and quick to come out. I got the ceviche mixto for the first time and it was a healthy amount. I was surprised! Saved some to go.

Kevin B.

Yelp
SOme of the best Fish and shrimp tacos here at Ensenadas Surf N Turk Grill. We stopped here for some shrimp and Baja Tacos. They were beyond delicious in my opinion. Decent prices, depending how many tacos you buy. But it is still a good bargain here.

Melissa L.

Yelp
You can't beat the fish tacos here on Wednesday! Ensenada's is a local favorite for their taco deals. It's a casual joint with not much seating and there is often a line Tuesday/Wednesday night for dinner. On Tuesdays they have deals on their meat tacos and on Wednesday they have a fish taco deal which is my favorite. The staff are always friendly and service is relatively quick. The meat tacos are tasty but quite greasy. The fish tacos are fried but not too heavy. The breading is always crispy and they give great portions. They have a bar with some lemons or limes and jalapeños on the side. I've seen a lot of people getting their ceviche which looks great. Definitely a great local spot for taco Tuesday!

Aryanna R.

Yelp
Ode to Ensenada - nobody makes a breaded fish and shrimp burrito quite like you do. You want a fat fish burrito loaded with rice for carbs and pico for veggies and huge portions of fish for protein? Look no further than Ensenada. My boyfriend and I were going back and forth trying to find a place that served good breakfast burritos, we couldn't find any but we can always depend on Ensenada to deliver on a satisfying burrito worth every dollar. One burrito is definitely enough to feed two people so you can split it. Inside the store, they have a station where you can slices of lime, pickled onion, and big yellow chili peppers. They will also provide small sauce containers as pictured below in your to go bag. They have a slightly spicy tangy sauce (it's not too spicy tho fyi) and a crema sauce (which is just a watery sour cream). I recommend on every bite of your burrito, you put a little spicy sauce, cream, squeeze of lime, and pickled onion. DELICIOUS. Thank you Ensenada for doing fish burritos justice. :) I would also recommend you get the Baja Tacos with breaded fish - they give you a huge portion of fish that barely fits in the tacos, and it's delicious. Personally, I do not like their ceviche - it's too salty and I don't enjoy their tostadas. I'd much prefer to make my own at home. Never had an issue with service - the employees just take your order and call your name or order number when it's ready, so nothing special to note other than they always make delicious food. Only reason for 4 stars is that the ambiance inside the store isn't very inviting and seating is quite cramped and small. Parking lot is also small. Obviously this can't be easily fixed, but the food definitely overshadows everything else.

Tony F.

Yelp
It's rated one of the best tacos in LA by L.A Chefs, and they are not kidding. You walk in from the packed parking lot, to a busy clean shop with mostly Hispanic clientele, you know you are in the right place for tacos! They use fresh, sumptuous, and delicious ingredients and served with healthy Baja style and very good value. There are lots of varieties on the menu from tacos and burritos to ceviche, (shrimp or octopus) cocktails, and soups. Love the condiments bar with onions, huge peppers, and limes! I tried the $2.99 Taco Tuesday and Shrimp tacos, they were excellent. We have come back and try the stingray tacos!

Dani E.

Yelp
Their burritos are huge. Ceviche on the side completes my meal here. It's a very small place and the parking is small too. The service here is great and they have a self serve condiments.

Melody S.

Yelp
We had salmon tacos, potato taco, fried shrimp tacos. They were amazing. Fresh and very flavorful!! The hot sauce was a little spicy for my son but he ate them. We also had refried beans. Everything was delicious. Service took about 25 minutes but the food was fresh & hot! The ambiance was nice very busy but had good energy. I can't wait to go back!!!

Doug S.

Yelp
1700+ over 4 star reviews ... I don't know what else has to be said but - don't judge a book by it's cover. We almost didn't go in but I'm certainly glad we did. Fresh ceviche and the grilled fish tacos were spot on. I probably wouldn't use the buffet of peppers and onions but I'm that way after years of business travel. I Avoid high touch items. Anyway I recommend with thumbs up. Get yourself some fresh fish and tacos!!
