When I moved to Austin, Epic Poke was one of the first places I had wanted to go to grab a bite to eat. But it was a Sunday, so they were closed. But then, later on in the week, I was able to order one of their poke bowls through their website. Since then, I've had the opportunity to eat here and introduce others to this establishment countless times.
Their menu has changed over time, but they have stayed very consistent with their ingredients and preparation. For protein, they offer tuna and salmon, chicken and shrimp, tofu, and recently, unagi. Other than protein, each bowl comes with a healthy serving of a variety of colorful veggies and crunchy bits, glass noodles, and rice. You can also opt to add additional toppings or extra protein. The bowls have some weight to them and are filling.
The owners are friendly enough to recognize you and learn your name if you come here enough. The seating area for eating in is quite cozy. A large mural of Austin adorns one of the walls, and potted plants hang out by the windows.
If you're looking at this place solely for poke, their rendition of poke might not be anything particularly special compared to places specializing in creating different flavor variants of poke. But overall, the consistency in their combination of preparation of ingredients and the care used to construct their bowls, makes this place a solid option for a satisfying meal.
