The 34 Essential Porto Restaurants

"There’s more to this Nordic-style cafe than paper lanterns and pour-overs. The hip eatery serves an organic, local, vegetarian lunch menu, driven by the seasons and the kitchen’s creativity. All the items from the rotating menu are perfect to snack on as you sit by the windows watching life pass by on the street outside. Three days a week, the venue plays host to a dinner pop-up izakaya concept with Japanese snacks." - Rafael Tonon

Such an amazing spot for brunch/lunch. We had some bread with cheese, fried egg, and the scrambled eggs. The scrambled eggs were some of the best we’ve had - ever. So creamy, so delicious: topped with Parmesan and lots and lots of chives. So good. The sourdough bread was also very good!

I visited Porto for just three days, and I ended up going to Epoca three times — that’s how much I loved it! This cozy little spot instantly makes you feel at home, with a calm minimalist decor, and plenty of natural light. The food is incredibly fresh, delicious, and full of amazing flavor. You can truly taste the difference high-quality ingredients make — everything is thoughtfully prepared with care and creativity. Their brunch options are especially memorable, and the coffee is fantastic. The staff are warm and friendly, which makes the whole experience even more enjoyable. A must-visit if you’re in Porto!

Epoca is a charming spot in Porto that truly delivers on quality ingredients and thoughtful preparation. I ordered the brioche with ricotta and tomato, and it was sooo good—rich, flavorful, and perfectly balanced. Plus, it came out impressively fast, making for a great start to the meal. Highly recommended! I also tried the scrambled eggs, which took a little longer to arrive. They were cooked to perfection—soft and creamy—but they just didn’t have the same wow factor as the brioche. Overall, it was a pleasant experience with great food and a cozy atmosphere. Definitely worth a visit!

Beautiful breakfast!! Incredible coffee. The eggs were incredible but the pancakes were to die for!! So reasonably priced too! An absolute gem worth a visit when in Porto!

Saw beautiful videos of this place online so decided to stop by for brunch. They changed the menu because some of the dishes that looked amazing like the turkish eggs are not available anymore. The menus is very limited so we ordered some other stuff that they had. The coffee, bread and soup were good but the other stuff like the tomato dip and the soggy eggs on bread not as much. Also, The two servers that work here are very not friendly and give out bad vibes and the service is quite slow and not efficient in general. Too bad really wanted to like this place but will not be back.

it is a really special and open space, that connect people though an oval table in the middle of the room. the food was nice and well cooked! the atmosphere is comfy - even though the waitresses do not want you to sit there for long as it is always crowded :) other than that: the place is cozy, has good vibes and is a must go in porto!

Almost 8 years since we first visited Porto and Época is still our favorite place for lunch. Obrigada! 🤍 Local ingredients, seasonal food, well-balanced dishes. A beautiful place to enjoy your lunch or breakfast. It can get a bit crowded during lunch hours, but never overwhelmingly so. You can always find some traditional Portuguese inspired dessert at the front counter. Quick service, kind people. Vegetarian menu that changes every other week. Dogs are always welcomed. Love the sense of community that this place has. A must stop when in Porto.

We started ordering when the waitress stopped us to let us know that we are over ordering. Refreshing to see a staff go against their financial interest. Though we needed more food in the end haha Also cool that it’s an all female staff 🙋🏼‍♀️

Yelp
Fantastic in every way. Greeted warmly with great service throughout. Got very busy shortly after opening, so I'm glad we got there when we did. We split the roasted potatoes mashed eggs dish and it was delicious. The raspberry/sage lemonade had fruit purée in it... so refreshing and tasty. Inside the restaurant... bright and airy with simple but sophisticated decor. Perfect little place... I had see it on someone's travel blog and I'm thankful we sought it out. Don't pass this gem up if you get the chance to stop in!

Yelp
I was disappointed to learn they are no longer open for breakfast so the Turkish eggs that are so highly reviewed are no longer available. We ordered the rigatoni and creamy rice. Both were good but not extremely noteworthy. If we was a nice touch of herbs in the creamy rice but too much mushroom.

Yelp
I can't believe this cafe didn't have a yelp page before this! I'm so excited to be the first to review this place because i'm obsessed! A few friends recommended I come here and thank god they did because it is perfection. It is a cute, cozy, trendy cafe for breakfast/lunch/coffee and everything is locally and organically produced...need I say more? Oh and their WiFi password made me love it even more (it's Lorelei Gilmore!) and they have "the gentlewoman" magazines sprawled out along their "bar top" counter. Best place ever. I ordered the scrambled eggs with chive and parm and it was served on a piece of delicious bread, as well as an iced latte with oat milk. Everything was amazing! I can't say enough good things about this spot. It's adorable, the service was fantastic, and it's just a little slice of heaven in Porto. I will definitely be back the next time I'm in Porto!

Yelp
Love this place. Great buckwheat pancake, scrambled eggs in amazing sourdough, and Kalita pour over coffee.

Yelp
Truly the most amazing breakfast we have had ever. The Turkish eggs and buckwheat pancakes were both amazing. The sourdough that comes with the eggs... absolutely perfect. Great matcha latte and cappuccino too. Can't go wrong here!
