"Austin coffee shop Epoch closed its downtown location as of April 27. It had been found in the Gables Park Tower Apartments building since 2018. The Facebook note shared that the team decided to shutter this address because 'the time to walk away has come for us for the health of the entire business.' There are still three locations around the city." - Nadia Chaudhury

"The original location of Epoch up on North Loop is a near-classic Austin institution – it’s open 24 hours, there’s a random collection of furniture, extension cords hang down from the ceiling – and the one downtown couldn’t be more different. Opened in 2018, it’s a much more modern experience – all glass, concrete, and blonde wood. They serve very good coffee (from Wild Gift and Onyx), Tacodeli tacos in the morning, sandwiches, and beer and wine. While it can get a little loud, because it’s tucked on the western fringes of downtown, it’s generally a relaxed space to hang out or work (with lots of outlets). And if you want to take a break to get some Vitamin D, Epoch is also right near the trails on Lady Bird Lake." - Raphael Brion

Really cute vibey/aesthetic place!! There ARE gluten free dairy free options (YAY) and the espresso isn't fruity, unlike most of the other coffee shops in the area. The seating is comfy, and there are plenty of options here. I wouldn't recommend coming here if you are in a rush though, it gets busy quickly and it seems that only one person is staffed at a time in my few visits. Overall an incredible place though that I will return to!

And Epoch does it again! I came across their new location wandering around Seaholm a few weeks ago. I was ecstatic on their new location off of Far West, but this location is wonderful as well! It's the baristas, space, environment, and coffee that keeps me coming back to their multiple locations!

Nice atmosphere. Coffee was good but the Barista did not heat to hot temperature. It was barely warm. Also she was not overly friendly. Another downside was you have to pay for parking as there is no street parking.

Great service and friendly staff. Easily seen driving along Electric Drive near the Gables building. Parking is available on the street and a nearby parking garages, but you will have to pay for the latter. I discovered this place because my golden retriever and I will often walk by this area. There used to be a coffee shop that closed. Epoph opened in its place recently. I had done a review on this several months ago, but it seems Google likes losing my reviews for some reason. I’m putting in what I can best remember from a past visit and today.

I am not a fan of Onyx coffee I'm from Arkansas and this coffee is over priced. Thousands of coffee roasters in the USA and they pick Onyx. I give this place Hugh marks for the decor. Love ve the options to relax here.

Nice big open windows. Clean. Good vibe. Laid back staff. Nice people. Interesting and varied music. Plants! Real living plants (not plastic). Strong AC. I like the little chairs and table outside and enjoy sitting across from the park area. Lots of outlets for charging devices. I think it's the best cup of coffee in town. Parking can be difficult. Early is best.
