Eppig Brewing Has a Epic New Waterfront Tasting Room - Eater San Diego

"A new biergarten from North Park’s Eppig Brewing raises it sails this Friday, February 9. Located in a former boatyard in a private marina along Point Loma’s America’s Cup Harbor, virtually every seat has panoramic views of the harbor and Downtown San Diego. Most of the seating is located on a wrap-around 2,000-square-foot patio, which will have both shading and heat by the brewery’s grand opening celebration in early March." - Candice Woo

Google
It may be one of the best tap locations I know. Sitting at the marina front, drinking beer in the sun, and seeing an occasional seal in the water was priceless. On top of that, their beers are really worth the whole buzz and acclamation they get. The place itself looks great. The service is quick and knows their beers. A must see if you are in the area.

Google
Amazing little open air brewery with quick service, a small menu from an outside grill and awesome views of the water and bay. Great for fair weather. Great for families and parties. Food offerings are simple but good. Beers range from Pilsners and Mexican lagers to Ciders and a German FiestBier.

Google
OMG, best place for a cold brew next to the water. I had the 10:45 to Denver IPA, delicious.

Google
This is a great brewery! Had an unexpected layover in SD and this was a highlight. Great beer on the bay here. Really enjoyed the cherry sour—with hints of cinnamon and vanilla. It was amazing and I still think about it. The patio was really nice either way benches at large tables for groups and Adirondack chairs with heaters by the water. The staff were knowledgeable and incredible personable. Would recommend Eppig to anyone visiting SD.

Google
Eppig is the brewery I keep coming back to when I visit San Diego. I love the location right by the water with chairs available to sit and enjoy the view. Michelada option is not too much mix like a lot of places. Crisp/delicious unfussy beer options. I think there is something for everyone and the vibes are chill/relaxing

Google
Amazing staff, all so nice and we love them! Amazing beer too. We miss watching sports in the inside though, which was a nice interior to hang out in, which is now replaced by a golf simulator… can’t see the view from inside now! 11/10 beer, 11/10 staff

Google
oh my word! what a bar!. Just go, beautiful views, great beers, friendly service, nice clean area. All you could wish for. We visited with our child and it was fantastic.

Google
We hosted our wedding welcome party at Eppig, and can't recommend them highly enough for your next event. We had the hardest time finding a venue to host our party at-- we wanted something casual and fun, but elevated enough to show off San Diego's beauty. Eppig fit the bill and couldn't have been more perfect. The whole team was super communicative from the outset (another issue we had with other venues we considered!), and answered all of our questions in a timely and kind fashion. The party itself (via our full buyout of the space) was amazing. The views from the Biergarten are stunning, we were permitted to cater food from Salud Tacos which was delicious, and the beer was incredible. The prices at Eppig were super fair given all that we were offered: great beer, great views, great party space. But beyond all of that, the servers and team the day of were so kind and wonderful to work with. Can't recommend Eppig enough. Thanks for being such a special part of our big weekend!

Yelp
When you need a daily dose of sunshine and beer Eppig brewing is the spot. Come sit by the water in the outdoor patio choose from tables to reclining out door chairs. You will feel at easy trying the wide range for beers on tap. The staff make sure to get you through the line fast so you can sit back and relax with the lively crowd of friends with a beer in hand.

Yelp
So, it's a biergarten. They have beer. If you're not looking for beer, this is probably not the place you need to be. Because they have beer. We found our way here when staying at a place on the "island" nearby and wanted to see what else was around, so we didn't have to park. If you're on foot, it's kind of behind everything else, but worth searching out, if you want beer (did I mention they have beer?). They have a nice selection of beer and with the setting and layout, there's often little to no wait, at least from when we were there. We just walked up, picked out a beer, then drank said beers. They were good!

Yelp
This review is for their outdoor yoga class. Class is held outside of the brewery. It is lovely setting standing in front of the pier with fresh air. The seagulls squawked while we did down dogs and mountain pose. It was nice being outside and enjoying a class.

Yelp
This Eppig Brewing taproom is simple, yet great views. The taproom itself is maybe 30 x 30 ft with open doors. It's mostly open with a couple 2 tops to stand at. Just feet outside is a patio and a dozen or two large chairs and picnic tables overlooking the bay. Most seats were full. The chairs' seats are slightly deep and angled. The chairs smartly had a bit of sandpaper to handle the beer in place with possible condensation. The staff was quick and nice. I prefer my beers more hoppy than they had, sharper with aftertaste. The flight we got didn't represent that. I would for sure come back to this or another Eppig location. -Try This - smooth. clean. drinkable. not too much of an aftertaste. -10:45 to Denver - it does have some dank kick in the middle. still too smooth. little aftertaste. -Wake Up and Slay - again clean smooth. Muted for an ipa. Not much flavor -Comfy Chair - smooth oatmeal stout

Yelp
Views, views, views. This was an absolutely beautiful place tucked on the waterfront. We met here for a corporate ugly sweater party. I cannot believe no one had ever mentioned this place to me before. The inside is quaint and cozy. The patio offers the perfect backdrop for photos. Service was great. I'm not a beer drinker but the ciders were delicious. Definitely a place to put on your must visit list!

Yelp
I came here on a Sunday, after having a dinner close by. I was walking by, and this place was calling me to check them out. It is right on the harbor, has a huge patio with lots of chairs/stools. It is also open-seated. You order inside, grab your drink, and then pick your favorite spot to watch the water & boats while enjoying your beer and the sun. I tried their Helles (the German-style lager), and it was pretty good. Easy to drink, very smooth, and refreshing. The staff was also very friendly and helpful.
google avatar

Alden C.

Yelp
After getting a response from the owner very promptly to my review the intended flavor features and I directly quote "with subtle aromas of sweet pilsner malt, pear, and hint of German noble hop. Our kolsch was not intended to have tangerine or pine notes." I got the idea for how the flavor features were to be on Untappd and it makes more sense with how the flavor profile was other than the metallic aftertaste at the bottom of the can, top of the glass that it was poured into.

Yelp
I'm still amazed it took us this long to visit Eppig. The location is pretty epic - right on the waterfront, views from every part of the brewery, lots of places to easily walk to. I guess we just don't get to Point Loma as often as we should. At any rate, we ended up here on my husband's birthday, and the place was fairly packed for a Thursday early afternoon. We snagged a couple of barstools overlooking the marina and had planned on hanging out for a bit, but other things got in the way (namely a full hubby - he ate so much at lunch that he didn't have a lot of room for beer.) My first - and favorite - pour was the Moment of Weakness, a dark sour. It was tasty and tart, and my brain kept forgetting that it was a sour purely because it had the coloring of a porter or a stout. I'd take a sip, acknowledge the tart flavors, put the glass down, then see it and think, "I like porters" before taking another sip only to be taken off-guard by the sour tartiness of the brew. It was amusing in the moment but really why couldn't my brain parse that information? My second pour was their Radler, which I got because I was feeling a bit boozy after the sour. The Radler was crisp and refreshing, and light enough to crush. Everyone working that day was so friendly - not just to us, but to our puppy as well. We always appreciate when someone takes a second to chat with us and to acknowledge how incredibly adorable our little guy is.

Yelp
Love love love this local spot! Amazing views, friendly staff, plenty of outdoor seating, and great beers! My favorite was the "Wake Up and Slay" IPA....gotta practice what you preach ;)

Yelp
Went to Oktoberfest at Eppig Brewing and I really enjoyed the beer and the ambience. It's located in Point Loma right on the marina. It has an amazing view perfect for people watching/sunset viewing. The staff was kind and efficient and the beer was delicious! My personal favorite was the sour beer, I don't remember what it was called but it was delicious. They decorated the brewery in theme with Oktoberfest and had some fun contests happening during the evening. Parking can be a little tricky on the weekends so you may have to park a bit further away and walk on over. Overall I recommend Eppig Brewing for the beautiful location, ample seating and great beer.

Yelp
What a lovely spot to sit and watch the world go by. Loads of boats in the harbor, friendly service behind the counter, and terrific beer on tap!! Every time we visit San Diego, I want to make this my first stop.

Yelp
Great location. I enjoyed their rice lager and a couple of there IPAs. Great view of the harbor from the patio.

Yelp
Hali was extremely kind and went above and beyond to make my experience for my Birthday feel safer and special. I really enjoyed the 2 flights I had, the beer was flavorful with different layers that showed up immediately and through time. The view was really pretty, on the water and well spaced out. I appreciated having restrooms that were single stall that were not binary. It felt peaceful and calm and I really enjoyed my time and the flavors of the beer. I didn't have one bad beer, which is rare.

Yelp
Stopped in after dark, brought some food from a neighboring restaurant (they only serve snacks) love the space on the harbor & the heat lamps are a wonderful touch! A friend and I each had a flight which was fun, the bartender Megan was super friendly and shared some history about the brewery and their beers. Highly recommend if visiting the area.

Yelp
Super cute spot on the water! Perfect for enjoying a beer outside on sunny and breezy afternoon. The vibes are top-tier and the bartender couldn't have been kinder and more helpful. The Paradise Point sour was my choice and a refreshing summer Bev to enjoy while overlooking the harbor.

Yelp
We LOVE IT ! My husband and I came here today and the entire vibe from snacks to sitting to the beer was amazing. The service is great! The ladies are so welcoming and friendly

Yelp
This place is beautiful. The beer is good. The place gets crowded, but the line goes fast. Definitely a must try. Also, try the pretzels. So good!

Yelp
Great beer and amazing views. The staff was friendly and there was ample outdoor seating. Already have our next visit planned! This place is a must

Yelp
Giving calm Sunday afternoon vibes. We tried a few of their beers and enjoyed the cider option! The team was welcoming and their dog-friendly patio made it easy for us to stop by on our family walk. Close to the airport as well so good way to start or end your vacation!

Yelp
Eppig Brewing's Waterfront Biergarten is a place where simple pleasures rule. The customer service might not be over the top, but it's genuine and down-to-earth. And let's be real - we're here for the beer. They've got a solid lineup of drafts that caters to different tastes, so there's something for everyone. The brewery itself is a good size, though parking can be a bit of a hassle. But trust me, the hassle is worth it. Why? Because the views are simply jaw-dropping. From Point Loma, you get an unbeatable panorama of downtown San Diego. It's one of those moments where you just have to take a second and soak it all in. So, if you're looking for a chill spot to enjoy some brews, kick back, and savor stunning views of the city, Eppig Brewing's Waterfront Biergarten is your place. It's all about the laid-back vibe, the variety of beers, and those front-row seats to one of the best views in town.

Yelp
For our anniversary we had a little staycation on Shelter Island. Whenever we are in the area of Point Loma, we have to stop by Eppig Brewing. We love the chill vibe and great views that the Waterfront Biergarten has to offer. Eppig's beers are delicious too. The beertenders are always super friendly and knowledgeable. The patio is really nice and always impeccably clean. Eppig is dog friendly too, so bring your furry friends! My favorite is the Beach Beer Mexican-Style Vienna Lager. I love Mexican beers and this one is solid. It is perfectly refreshing for a sunny day on the Eppig patio overlooking the marina. Becky would very much appreciate it if Eppig would add a seltzer to their repertoire. She loves beer, she doesn't love the calories or carbs.

Yelp
First time visiting was for a pre wedding reception. The weather was amazing, the skyline glittered, and it was fun to see the boats. The service is attentive and friendly. The food was catered from an outside vendor but I look forward to returning.

Yelp
Met up with friends here from out of town last night before dinner. Sampled a few beers and found them excellent! Beautiful sitting right by the water and plenty of cold breezes on a hot day. This is a great place to take out of town people as well as a good local hang out. While they don't have food, I understand they bring in people to cook on a grill and food trucks and things like that. You can also wander down to Mitch is a Point Loma seafood to grab some food. This definitely qualifies for a hidden gem!

Yelp
I had to ask the employee working about the name of this brewery, which led me to find out it has quite the history! Eppig is a family name and they originally had a brewery in Brooklyn, NY until prohibition. The story was fascinating, so be sure to ask if you're into history. I ordered the shandy and Nate got a special beer with the proceeds supporting women's rights. The outdoor seating area was large, with lots of great spots overlooking the water. I saw signs on the patio saying not to move the furniture, but saw someone doing it anyway... sigh. There are larger picnic tables for bigger groups. The shandy was okay - I wanted it to have more lemonade flavor, but it was refreshing and light. This was a nice spot to hang out for a bit after our pedal boat cruise around the harbor. I could see this spot being really busy on a nice day! They allow well-behaved, leashed dogs, and you can bring in outside food.
google avatar

Emma B.

Yelp
Came here for the views, nice location and ambiance for a brewery, though parking can be tough. Decent beer, easy to drink. Service was decent.
google avatar

Jessica Z.

Yelp
Super chill vibes by the water! There's a bunch of seating above the water with a harbor view, as well as shaded tables suitable for larger groups. It's not too loud, which makes it a nice place for catching up. You can bring dogs and even take in food from other places. The weather was overcast and a bit chilly when I went, but I imagine that with nice weather it'd be even more amazing! Parking can be a bit of a hassle; there's paid ace parking ($2/hr), as well as street parking farther away in the surrounding neighborhoods. It's possible, but a bit of a walk. The gal at the counter was friendly and let me sample a couple of the beers, which was really cool. I opted for the Wake Up and Slay, a refreshing IPA.

Yelp
Great little harbor side brewery with outside seating. Great selection of beers and merch. Super great atomsphere. No food just drinks.

Yelp
I've walked by this place a lot over the years but never stopped in until I saw a Facebook post by their Daylen D. I love Oktoberfest and have been involved for over 35 years in El Cajon. Enough said, put my lederhosen on and headed in to the event - so impressed! I actually met with Daylen D. and got a tour per the event (and of course I already purchased my first liter of beer . The music, decor & the event was spot on. Couldn't go back on Saturday but I'll be their again on Sunday and did I forget to mention the food trucks outside? Great addition to the event. Prost

Jeff F.

Yelp
Fun little brewery right by all the sport fishing you could ever hope for. Pretty solid beers too! 4.25 stars
google avatar

Lee L.

Yelp
Absolutely loved this place. Came here on a stop on a self-guided brewery tour and this place did not disappoint! The space is amazing - right on the water front cannot be beat. We had tons of great outdoor space to enjoy all the boat watching and fresh air, while sipping a delicious beer. Speaking of, the beer was fantastic. They have a wide variety so there is something for everyone. I ordered the hoppy pilsner and thoroughly enjoyed it - not bitter, just flavorful. Service seemed fine given how long the line was. Would definitely go back!
google avatar

Bert G.

Yelp
A very nicely located and designed tasting room. Open, airy, with views of boats in America's Cup Harbor, the downtown skyline and the bay. Very San Diego. The selection of beer is managable, not as enormous and frustrating as in some other tasting establishments that, incidentally, don't offer boat and bay views. My favorite, a kolsch is offered. However, although the ABV is noted on the menu, the IBU (International Bitterness Units) is not. There is expertly planned seating outside, and inside as well. There is no kitchen, so food is limited to warmed up giant pretzels and chips in bags. Perhaps more choices will be offered in the future. Let's hope for that. Yes, they do offer Wi-Fi, just ask for the password. The staff needs no improvement. They are exceptionally friendly and service oriented. Parking is sketchy in this neighborhood. There is an Ace parking lot across from the seafood restaurant, or perhaps some open curb parking a block or two away.

Yelp
Great spot for beers with a view. Watched 4th of July fireworks from their Adirondack chairs
google avatar

Yelp
Great beer, friendly service and right on the water. Dog friendly and parking in the lot around the corner. We look forward to coming back

Yelp
One of our favorite breweries we went to in San Diego. The ambience is unmatchable. The beer was delicious. Staff were super friendly and helpful and the place was filled with nice locals. I'd come here all the time if I lived in the area.

Jojo K.

Yelp
I can't believe this place exists. Beer on the water. Perfect temp, best views, so much to do around you. Point Loma is the bestttt.
google avatar

Michael L.

Yelp
Attended a succulent wreath making class at the brewery for Mother's Day. The location is great, even if we got unlucky with a cloudy day, as it is right on the marina. Most of the seating is outdoors with good views and isn't crowded by neighboring businesses. The staff were personable and attentive, and the the venue was packed not only with the event but there was also a large party celebrating an engagement along with the normal daily patrons. We never had to wait long to get a beer and they also had a fair selection of sodas and seltzer. The 10:45 to Denver was very good, and if you are into sours the Pink Lemonade was solid. Will definitely come back, and looking forward to sampling the food next time.
google avatar

Mara M.

Yelp
Super cool spot to grab drinks and/or snacks. Lots of seating with a great view. The staff are friendly and down-to-earth. We enjoyed a pretzel and some beers while watching the sunset :) Would definitely come back and probably will soon!
google avatar

Mandi B.

Yelp
Solid beers and friendly staff. Would definitely return to do a bit more tasting and enjoy the sunny patio vibes.
google avatar

Alexys -.

Yelp
Cute hang out spot with good beer and nice views! Staff is friendly and allow you to try samples of beer if you are unsure. They don't have many food options.. so don't come hungry or you can go to Point Loma seafood or Mitch's. Yum
google avatar

Susan K.

Yelp
The only parking is street parking & It is VERY limited! There is a gated parking lot but don't think you can get in there & DO NOT park at the nearby establishments. Restrooms require a code; the only GF option was a cucumber seltzer that was very cucumbers
google avatar

Spencer F.

Yelp
Came here after a run for a quick beer since I had seen the location talked about a ton when looking around online. Got the oatmeal stout and was excellent! Staff was very friendly and told me about the running club they have which runs around the same area I had just finished. Wish I had time for 1 or 2 more. Will have to stop in again!
google avatar

Regine A.

Yelp
Spontaneously stopped by this brewery along the water. Let me tell you. it did not disappoint. The views. The drinks. the service. All of the above were great! Employees kindly welcomed us in & served us right away. The space here is breathtaking. You can't beat the views. I ordered the glitz and glam. It was fruity and tart - just how I like it. Highly recommend coming here with a buddy or two to enjoy the San Diego sunshine and beer!!
google avatar

Marc B.

Yelp
The beer here was very good. They don't have anything unique like an over the top hazy, or a big crazy stout, but the cold IPA was really well balanced and very flavorful, and they do a beer that they called rosé, which was very smooth and refreshing. Where this brewery really shines is the friendliness of the staff, beer-tender couldn't have been better, and the location - right on the water - this is an absolutely beautiful place to drink a good beer with friends. We were there on a sunny day and it was absolutely excellent.
google avatar

Marcia R.

Yelp
This was the first time here. we enjoyed our self's here on a Monday afternoon. What a nice place and great friendly service here also. I'll be going back with the friends and family. Very open and airy space and nice large patio's and chairs to look at the bay with the view of boats & yachts. Anywhere here has a great view here of the beautiful Point Loma waterfront. It's easy to come and relax here
google avatar

Kaleena B.

Yelp
Went here for a work holiday party and this location is amazing! Right on the water with fantastic views, plenty of outdoor seating. Staff was very friendly. Parking in this area is a bit of a hassle but it's close to a paid Ace Parking lot if you're not able to nab street parking. I'd definitely return on my own to check out their full menu.
google avatar

Eduardo G.

Yelp
Always a great spot to have a beer and hang out with people. The past October fest was amazing. The Beer topper was awesome this year . Although it was very busy, the service was on point.
google avatar

Arturo G.

Yelp
This was a fun spot to visit for an evening. Situated right on the water, boats going by, bird trying to pick at your food; it is the perfect night. I went by with a couple of buddies and we had a couple of their award-winning IPA's. The beertenders were very friendly and easily approachable when asking for recommendations. If you're looking for something that is off the main street and gives you a nice relaxing evening with some good beer, Eppig Brewing is your go-to. See you next time we're in town!
