Boston’s Hottest New Cocktail Bars

"A legend in the Boston bartending scene, Jackson Cannon was sorely missed when Eastern Standard, the Hawthorne, and Island Creek Oyster Bar closed up shop during the pandemic. But, in this case, the story has a happy ending: Eastern Standard is back open in new digs in Fenway, and adjacent cocktail bar Equal Standard debuted just a few weeks later. Slip into the bar before or after an Eastern Standard meal and get reacquainted with Cannon via gotta-try combinations like rum, rhubarb liqueur, and clarified passion fruit juice (the Love Letter); and sotol, white vermouth, green chartreuse, and honeydew melon (Next to Normal)." - Erika Adams, Eater Staff

Where to Drink Manhattans in Boston in 2024 | Eater

"Equal Measure opened in November with the much-anticipated return of adjacent sister spot Eastern Standard — the beloved Fenway brasserie that had been one of our Boston’s favorite spots for a Manhattan and a French-style bar dinner until it shuttered for a few years ago. With the Eastern Standard team at the helm, it is all but guaranteed that Equal Measure will serve a world-class Angel’s Envy Manhattan. While the location has moved down the road, expect an updated Eastern Standard bar vibe with wood paneling and a marble countertop that makes your amber-colored cocktail appear all the more stunning." - Molly McDonough

From the Eastern Standard team, this Fenway bar pairs culinary-minded technique with hospitality polish. Named to North America’s 50 Best Bars extended list and celebrated by Time Out, it’s Boston’s current marquee for inventive, seasonal cocktails.

Phenomenal bar with every cocktail option equally good. I wished they had more food options because their current selection is really limited, but regardless, if you're going in for the drinks you will not be disappointed! The wait staff is super nice and ensure you are well taken care off. This is going to be the go to spot for excellent cocktails in Boston area. There is metered street parking across, as well as a paid parking garage nearby. Closest T station is Lansdowne.

One of the nice bars around Fenway Kenmore area. The best selling point of this place was the drink. If you’re looking for a light drink, go for Princess Peach and Down the Rabbit Hole. Plus, the servers were really nice, outgoing and attentive. The bathroom is really nice (they have the Dyson air dryer) However, the logistic of sitting people down can be better (might be the lack of staff). And the place has a big room but the distribution of noise can be improved (especially with the extended room). Will come back! 5 stars because the place has potential!

I recently visited Equal Measure and overall had a fantastic experience. The bar offers an impressive selection of cocktails that are both creative and delicious. Each drink I tried was well-crafted, showcasing the mixologists' talent and attention to detail. The food menu also stood out, offering reasonably priced dishes that perfectly complemented the drinks. However, the ambiance could use a bit of improvement. While the space is modern and clean, it lacks a cozy vibe that would make it more inviting. Additionally, the seating options could be better. The plastic chairs and what seemed to be plastic table weren't the most aesthetically pleasing. A few changes in decor and more comfortable seating could elevate the experience significantly. Despite this, Equal Measure is a great spot for drinks and food, and I look forward to visiting again. With a few tweaks to the ambiance, it could easily become a five-star destination.

Google
One of the better cocktail spots in Boston ... but not sure if that means much. Drinks are acceptable and appropriately balanced. Staff are nice. The drink names are more creative than the drinks themselves. The ambiance is OK ... it was not particularly unique. Sadly the cushioned seating fabric had multiple stains and some details were lacking, but certainly there is potential. Currently it is a very cookie cutter cocktail bar experience. If that's what you are looking for, you will not be disappointed. However it is not somewhere I would particularly go out of my way to visit since you can get similar experiences at cocktail bars in pretty much any major city.

Fantastic service. Cute, tasty drinks. While the overall atmosphere was beautiful, it was very loud and difficult to hear others. The spacing between the seats was also a bit awkward. Great place for cocktails, but not the best if you’re wanting to actually chat comfortably with the people you’re with.

I'll start with the good - this place is way too nice to be in Fenway, which is awesome for this neighborhood! The place is super swanky, nice seating areas, and a cool bar. The way the entrance is makes it feel super deep and larger. there was a private event so we couldn't see the front side. Things that need to be ironed out still - we ordered food and it took quite a while and some reminders to get fries and a cheese plate. It's not a big deal, but worth mentioning while they get everything together. The cocktail list was expansive, I hope they intend to rotate it. Super look forward to this place becoming a regular spot for my cocktails. Should point out there's no reservation system, just an online wait-list, which is a nice touch so that people can't horde reservations!

Wow!! Not a lot impresses me when it comes to atmosphere and bar programs but I can say that I’m blown away by the cocktails. The environment is gorgeous retro-modern-sexy-romantic… just great vibes and energy. The deviled eggs with caviar — balanced delicious savory and refreshing in a delicate way. The cocktail that impressed me most was “gracias gazpacho”. I could just melt

The on-the-menu cocktails were good, but when I went off the menu, ordering a penicillin they were not good. The drink was really watery and sour, opposed to the typical Ginger spiciness that I enjoy in a penicillin. The fries were okay for this type of restaurant I would expect them to be a lot better. I will say the corn dogs were outstanding!

Yelp
This might just be my new favorite bar in Boston--a title once held by Hawthorne. The bartenders and hosts are a fantastic team, delivering amazing drinks. I never imagined drinking a cocktail with a vegetable as the star, but sugar snap peas really pull off a refreshing adult beverage. Our favorite had to have been the "surprise me" request after we discovered the Creamsicle cocktail was sold out. We got a Missionary's Downfall that was a perfect choice for a delicious, summer treat. Also really appreciated the playlist that highlighted LGBTQ artists during pride month. Cheers to the welcoming yet classy vibes!

Yelp
Same team behind Eastern Standard, Equal Measure delivers absolutely fantastic craft cocktails in a relaxing, comfortable modern setting that doesn't feel pretentious. Warm, welcoming and knowledgeable staff. Prices are very reasonable for the quality. There's a few snacks on the menu - charcuterie, deviled eggs, etc. No entrees or anything - so the focus is on the drinks.
