17 San Francisco Restaurants With Spectacular Views

"The sights from Golden Gate Bridge remain some of San Francisco’s most iconic vistas. Now that Equator has taken over the Round House at the bridge, it’s home to phenomenal coffee and pastries, too. Opened in 1937, the Art Deco-style space is a gorgeous cafe while providing world-famous views of the Bay. It’s also a perfect starting point for a jaunt across the bridge." - Paolo Bicchieri, Eater Staff

Google
Coffee shop with a great view of the bridge. Places with postcard-worthy views often charge steep admission for the scenery. However, Equator coffee, which is strategically stationed at a photogenic angle along the Golden Gate Bridge, manages to keep the tab modest. My friend and I made a quick stop for tea and coffee, and both were solid. Would recommend giving them a try if you’re looking for some refreshments while sipping a bit of scenery.

Google
Really disappointed in every aspect of my experience. The coffee was mediocre and overpriced. While the price of the coffee cup may not seem high for California, the cup itself is much smaller than what you’ll find elsewhere. The staff appeared annoyed and rude, and they didn’t have any seasonal items in stock, nor did they have blueberry syrup. The wait time was long, it was very crowded. The entire plaza is very touristy, but it EXTREMELY lacks parking. We barely found a spot even on a bad weather day. When it's warm and sunny, there are no spots within a reasonable distance from the coffee shop. The only positive aspect was the view of the Golden Gate Bridge; HOWEVER, we didn’t even get to enjoy that because Karl the Fog visited the city on the same day as us. All I can say is—just don’t go. There are many other viewpoints and much better coffee available at plenty of places around the city.

Got a cortado and a chai Latte here for drinks. Both the drinks were good. They have good breakfast options. We got a butter croissant, chocolate croissant and a Ube croissant. I loved the Ube croissant. Croissant was filled with Ube cream. Chocolate croissant was also good but the chocolate inside wasn’t melted. You get a lovely view of the Golden Gate Bridge 😍

Google
All 5 star. Great selection of drinks and food. Staff is very friendly. They tell you before hand "Hey we busy it will take xmin" that is ok, because you get to enjoy the view. Excellent view of the bridge. Highly recommended

Google
This place was so boots. The everything croissant had scallion cream cheese in it 😫😫😫😫😫 and the special strawberry matcha slayed the house. We love

Google
Great views of the cafe, good for a quick pit stop. I ordered a EQ Sandwich and grilled cheese.. grilled cheese was not too nice. Service was okay, staff kind of friendly. Plenty of seats, but not very clean as people are constantly coming and going

Google
Amazing views. Delicious coffee. Freshly squeezed orange juice. Tasty pastries. The paninis were well done. This is a must go if visiting the golden gates bridge. Everything was priced appropriately. Seating is limited but available.

Google
Great views from the cafe - definitely a good spot for a quick pit stop. I ordered the grilled cheese panini and latte. The sandwich was decent but the grilled cheese didn’t quite hit the mark. Staff is very friendly. Overall, decent for a short break.

Yelp
AMAZINGGGGG AND DELICIOUS COFFEE!! First time here and I was smitten! They truly know what they are doing with coffee and that's important! BEAUTIFUL view of the Golden Gate Bridge! Service was amazing: so much attention to detail! Truly makes its for a wonderful and enjoyable coffee with friends, family or on a date! Can't wait to be back for more!
google avatar

Yelp
This place has amazing view of golden gate. The is also good. Ordered cafe mocha. It was just perfect. The place is crowded as it is located in prime location of golden gate. Need to wait in queue 15-20 mins.
google avatar

Yelp
Maybe this was a one off bad day, however, it was the slowest service ever. No one seems to be in charge. Line out the door and one barista was taking orders, serving pastries and for almost every customer she stopped serving to prep ice drinks. There was enough staff but one only one person taking orders and stopping for 4 mins on most orders meant the line was out the door!! Coffee and food was good but the service was incompetent. Lucky for them they are the only place around and have amazing views.

Yelp
Totally added this tourist spot to my list of places to visit in San Fran, and don't regret it! Such a cute little coffee shop and can we just pause a moment for that view?! The architects knew what they were doing when they designed and built this beauty with stunning views and big windows. It's actually quite a lot bigger than it looks from the outside, and offers plenty of bar/counter seating for optimal window viewing of the Golden Gate Bridge. The heart photo was a must-do, and all I could think about as I was taking these photos was the song, "I left my heart in San Francisco." So cheesy but so appropriate. I can only imagine how gorgeous those views must be at sunset. I'll have to time it better next time I visit the West Coast.

Yelp
Great coffee and amazing views! Stopped by this shop after we visited the Golden Gate Bridge. This place is popular because it has a fantastic panoramic view of the bridge. It was busy when we arrived, but the line moved quickly. I order their iced latte and overnight oats. They offer a wide range of breakfast and lunch options. Parking was a bit of a headache as it's a high-traffic area with limited parking.
google avatar

Selena B.

Yelp
The views from inside are so nice the line moves swiftly and although lots of people were moving in and out the flow was so good u hardly noticed as we waited for food only about 5 minutes tops for everything a seat opened up and we had a moment to let everything around us sink in. The matcha was good! not sweet not chalky just right .

Yelp
This Equator Coffees has a prime location right by the Golden Gate Bridge. We grabbed a table by the window and enjoyed a beautiful view of the bridge while we sipped our drinks. Perfect spot for a coffee break while sightseeing. There's plenty of seating inside, which is nice because the outdoor areas (which aren't technically part of the cafe) can get crowded with tourists later in the day. I tried their banana bread, and it was delicious - I definitely recommend getting it warmed up. The iced chai latte had good spice flavor, but I could have used a touch more sweetness for my taste. They only had 2 milk options- oat milk and almond milk. Overall, it's a solid coffee shop with a fantastic view. Just be prepared for a crowd, especially if you visit during peak tourist hours.
google avatar

Lovina C.

Yelp
B.L.A.T sandwich - bacon, lettuce, avocado, tomato. The bacon was perfectly crispy and there was a generous amount, which I loved. They were also generous with the avocado, which I really appreciated. Overall no regrets with this sandwich! I did find it odd that the price they charged at the register was .25 more (before tax) than the price they listed on their sign. When asked about it, the cashier said it is a fee for the materials used for food packaging and dining. Um okay... am I the only one that thinks it's weird to charge extra for this without any indication of this charge?

Yelp
BEAUTIFUL- safe and breathtaking! Come see the bridge right ahead of the start of the day with a delightful cup of coffee and treat for the day. I was enthusiastic to find a safe location to take a memorable picture, you will find bike trails, walking paths, plenty of buses and ways to navigate around you. Service at the shop was so sweet! They actually offered me their favorite drink and food so I did t have to decide and it was 100 fabulous! I arrived around 9:30 am there wasn't traffic and an abundance of people making the views perfection and the experience worth while, people superb and views... increíble.

Yelp
We came in on a Wednesday afternoon. Wasn't too crowded and the service was quick. Once we ordered, we got our drinks within 5 minutes. The prices were honestly fair and not overpriced at all. You get good coffee with a beautiful view. What more is there to ask for.

Yelp
This is one of my favorite SF cafes because of its incredible views, not to mention their delicious specialty coffee offerings. Friendly staff and free WiFi. This location is much bigger than their Fort Mason outpost in Marina. It's also far less busier on Sunday mornings (30-45 min wait there) because of the farmers market at Fort Mason. Unfortunately, there is no bathroom inside, but there is a public bathroom outside just down the stairs and to the right, near the Welcome Center building.
google avatar

Yelp
it's rare when a scenic and touristy place in a major metro in the US has good food or coffee nearby, and so this location is an absolute rarity. equator offers some of the best espresso drinks in the city, and you've got the best view, hands down. take your visiting friend here, stop by if you're playing tourist in your own town, and enjoy a great cup of coffee. bathrooms are nearby and maintained pretty well for the high traffic. the service is kind enough, given the high volume of customers they see, and the space is filled with light and super cute.
google avatar

Yelp
Perfect lil pick me up after my morning run. Best coffee with an amazing view of the golden gate! Expect a bit of a wait since it is quite touristy but worth it!
google avatar

Rose A.

Yelp
This coffee shop is located at the Golden Gate Bridge Welcome Center. They offer coffee and sandwiches. We tried the BLTA and Equator Coffee... crispy bacon! Tasted delicious! The pricing was reasonable. The person that took our order was an older gentleman who was very friendly and you could tell he had so much pride and loved his job! Theres options to sit inside and watch the view of the bridge and boating life thru the cafe window or the option to sit outside on the outer bench - in which we did! We really enjoyed having lunch and resting here after our mini family hike!

Yelp
This cafe was super cute. With amazing views of the bridge. The coffee was delicious. Service was friendly and excellent.

Yelp
I tried the habibi and maple lattes. I found the lattes to be a bit too sweet but the flavor was nice. In terms of ambiance it does get a bit busy at this location and it seems like a spot that people stop at to take to go and walk around the area. Overall I thought the lattes were flavored well but too sweet. The location has beautiful views but not a lounging space if that's what you're looking for. Would go again and walk around!
google avatar

Tealeye C.

Yelp
Had such a great time at the cafe. My mom's dog made friends with some of the other people drinking their coffee. The views were amazing. Staff were very helpful and my Habibi Latte and pumpkin bread were amazing. Definitely adding this spot, can't wait to go back.
google avatar

Paula R.

Yelp
Amazing view, food is overall. The staff is nice. Good place to drink a coffee with an amazing view.

Yelp
I saw this place on tiktok a while back and knew I had to try for myself. It's the closest cafe by the Golden Gate Bridge. Not only are the views excellent but so is the service. They have coffees, teas, sandwiches, and breakfast items like avocado toast as well as pastries. It's a little small, but perfect for on the go items. I recommend sitting down inside, however, to look at the bridge and take photos. I ordered a B.L.A.T. sandwich (bacon, lettuce, avocado & tomatoes), and I was more than satisfied. They used real THICK bacon, and the bread was to die for. Making this place a necessity every visit to SF.
google avatar

Aileen M.

Yelp
I came here strictly for the views, and was pleasantly surprised with the good cappuccino and the price for it was not bad at all, especially compared to other coffee shops, I thought it would be really pricey here. Great place to stop at before walking the bridge. The views are amazing and great service too!
google avatar

Dave W.

Yelp
I was prepared for this place to be an over priced tourist trap but was wrong. Prices are fair (actually a little lower than Starbucks and better, in my mind). It has one of the best views possible - the day was beautiful. We got lucky and came in during a lull in the tourist traffic. Service was quick and came with a smile. We only had coffee and tea but the pastries and other food offerings looked really good. It did get crowded after a bit but we were lucky enough to grab two stools. Worth the walk ...

Yelp
I have tried Equator Coffee in Sausalito, so when I was around Golden Gate Bridge for the day, I knew they had a location there and was so excited to have it again! The interior is aesthetic and they have many windows for a gorgeous view of the Bay, including the Golden Gate Bridge The line gets long, which isn't surprising since it's located at a famous tourist attraction. But the line is very productive, so we didn't wait super long. I was overwhelmed with the choices on the menu, my personal favorite is the Iced Habibi Latte, but I also wanted to try their seasonal drinks -- Strawberry Cream Cold Brew and Strawberry Matcha Cream. My partner and I ordered: -Iced Habibi Latte: Our favorite! I love the smokiness of the latte with hints of orange blossom and vanilla -Strawberry Matcha Cream: Not that good. Could've been sweeter, and I didn't really like the consistency of the cream -Avocado Toast: Honestly one of the best avocado toasts I've had! I never had ricotta on toast before, and it hit just the spot with the citrus oil and avocado -Prosciutto Panini: Delicious! Such a big portion, that we took the other half home for dinner. But all the ingredients meshed so well together that it wasn't tiring to eat Sadly, they missed one of my orders, so I had to show them my receipt of my drink that they didn't make. They tried to accommodate the mistake as fast as possible, but it's kind of hard with the large crowd. Parking might be hard since many tourists come, but the view and food are worth it even on a foggy day

Yelp
We stepped inside to warm up from a chilly walk across the Golden Gate Bridge, grabbing a cup of coffee and a bite to eat and stayed an hour because the views were amazing. Actually, the scenery is just as great or even better than walking across the bridge. Perhaps because the RoundHouse Cafe is built in a circle, hence the name, with many widows looking out toward the bridge, which shows all angles, giving the illusion that the bridge is floating above the water with the clouds. The line was long, but that wasn't a problem; it moved fairly quickly, and getting a table was a breeze. It really doesn't matter where you sit because all the windows face the Golden Gate Bridge. I ordered the Avocado Toast, which was well-seasoned. I wanted the Banana Toast, but they were out of bananas. So, we got the BLT, a big sandwich with slices of thick bacon, lots of lettuce, and tomatoes. Both cups of coffee, the Housemade Vanilla Latte, and Batch Brew were piping hot for warmth and good. Skip parking in the RoundHouse lot, it's small and a bit of a hassle. Parking is best in the East Battery lot directly across from the Cafe.

Yelp
FLAVOR (3.5/5): Tried their matcha latte and their club sandwich. Their matcha wasn't too strong, more on the milky side which I didn't mind. Their sandwich was stacked! Not bad for a quick stop for lunch. INSTAGRAM WORTHY (5/5): You came here for the view! A roundhouse with big windows on every side that looks out to the Bay. SERVICE (4/5): Order at the cashier and they'll call your name when it's ready. Service was pretty quick and you find an open seating on your own. TAKEAWAYS: A bit pricey but it's SF! For a small latte and a sandwich came out to $20. But you can't beat how close you are to the bridge.
google avatar

Yelp
Cute coffee shop near Fort Mason. Tried the Habibi latte which was just the right balance of flavor packed with a caffeine kick. Highly recommend. One gripe I had with this place was that I wish the restroom was cleaner, hence docking one star.
google avatar

Aaron S.

Yelp
Little coffee shop at the south base of the Golden. Awesome location and views! Not a great menu, food was ok, pay for parking and the service wasn't great. Overall, it is a great place to stop by for a great view and coffee.
google avatar

Raja S.

Yelp
Great location and ambience. Worthwhile visiting. Mocha was great... my mother-in-law got Chai Tea which was good as well. My daughter got ice cream : this was fine, nothing to write home about, but my daughter likes anything sweet :-). Good Customer experience.
google avatar

Yelp
The fact that the staff has zero disregard for customers and tourists is shocking. Location closes at 6pm. Line inside of excited tourists and locals (myself) standing since 5:25pm. At 6pm sharp, one of the baristas yells "sorry we're closed! everyone in line we can't help you." Like what?!? Someone missed their tour bus because they've been waiting for 30 minutes and you won't even serve them. They are already in the store, not outside. The employees have zero empathy or professionalism to lock the doors before 6pm/put a warning sign or warn the customers verbally in line, that they WONT be served if still waiting past 6pm. The staff I'm sure demands respect from customers and loves the ridiculous TIP options. (For doing their basic job duties.) but treat customers like a number. Smh. Not a good look equator. Left a stale taste and I won't be supporting any of your locations. Blue bottle or Philz would never. Even Starbucks has more class. Who's the manager? Is this normal procedure?

Grayson L.

Yelp
The protein bar was bad. It was too chewy and flavor was lacking. Service was good though
google avatar

Austin D.

Yelp
Can't beat the location. Service was just alright but they were understandably busy. Vibes excellent
google avatar

Lita S.

Yelp
This is a great coffee shop near Golden Gate Bridge. It's a great place to go to after walking across the bridge. We had hot chocolates and chocolate chip cookies. I also got a pumpkin loaf. Yum! So good! The view is wonderful and the hot chocolate so good - it's not from a package. The staff is friendly and responds so nicely. Thank you so much for a great experience!
google avatar

Jessica N.

Yelp
One this place opened they got busy fast! I'm glad I was one of the first in. I ordered the avocado toast, fresh OJ and a hot coffee. They use all fresh ingredients and it was the perfect start to my morning. Definitely stop by for a snack and a golden gate view.

Ang D.

Yelp
There is a serious concern regarding the service speed and overall efficiency of this particular establishment. I experienced a significant delay while waiting for my drink, which took 20 minutes to prepare. Upon inquiry, I discovered that there was confusion among the staff about whether the drink had even been made. This occurred during a period when they were not particularly busy, which makes this issue even more concerning. It is clear that the current service speed is causing frustration among the customers, as I looked around the room and observed frustration. It is imperative that this issue is addressed promptly. To be clear the service speed is like this repeatedly. There needs to be a team meeting to discuss ways to improve the workflow and ensure that customers can have a better experience. As I'm reading other comments this is not the first comment pertaining to this matter. Hoping that these comments are being addressed.

Kenia G.

Yelp
It was my first time here and the service was so bad I highly don't recommend at all they gave us really bad service and everything was just bad
google avatar

Josephine B.

Yelp
Cute coffee shop with an amazing view of the GG bridge. It was a cold and rainy day when I went but I enjoyed the experience. Very expensive but what else can you expect. I had the avo toast and it was the best one I've had. Service was great. It's def a tourist spot
google avatar

Brandon S.

Yelp
Came her for the view and was wowed by the food. Came in on a Tuesday afternoon so I didn't have to wait long at all. Had the avocado toast with a poached egg on top along with a matcha latte with oat milk. Food came out hot, fresh and tasty. Didn't think I'd wake up today, walk across the Golden Gate Bridge and end up here but I'm glad I did and you will be too.
google avatar

Jonnita W.

Yelp
For the most part. We ended up here to see the view on our go car city tour. And due to the coldness decided to stop and get some hot chocolate. Location of course packed with what seemed to be lots of tourists. We placed our order using the order tablet that was located on their dinning room floor line. Just as the name says (equator) you are able to see beautiful views of the water and city from the level/elevation of the shop. Didn't have much interaction with the. Few except to retrieve our order once our name was called. Given the quality and taste of the hot chocolate we would more than likely stop in in here again to possibly grab a small bite to eat
google avatar

Cheri L.

Yelp
For a touristy place, this spot was actually pretty good! Go earlier in the morning for less of a crowd and more seating. Conveniently near the GG Bridge, this is a great stop for fuel up before or after touring the area. The sandwich I had was pretty good but I loved their current seasonal drink which tasted like a coffee float. They rotate their seasonals so be aware of that when looking at pictures of menus. There are a few indoor seats as well as some benches on the outside along the building. Beautiful views of the bridge. Near the bus stops as well. Service was nice and friendly. Order: Prosciutto Panini and Blackberry Cream Cold Brew
google avatar

Carmen C.

Yelp
Came on a weekday morning. Parked a little further down, paid for parking and walked over. Lots of bikers. Beautiful views. Staff was friendly! Ordered: Seasonal lavender vanilla latte Mocha Got the hot drinks, both tasted good. There was a lot of customers. There are seats where you can stare outside at the bridge.
google avatar

Binita R.

Yelp
What an awesome view from this place. You can eat and have coffee while looking at The Golden Gate Bridge. One lady who was not nice replied well and tried to avoid customers to help even when you asked them many times.

Paige W.

Yelp
Wait time today was not worth the less than mediocre latte and lack of good customer service.
google avatar

Arman Eli P.

Yelp
Well, it's the best spot in the city! With the view of the Majestic Golden Gate Bridge, the drinks and pastries that are yumyum and the staff that are very nice! Always a great place to stop by for hungry and thirsty soul.

Yelp
The place is filled with workers that lack a sense of common decency. The white male barista making drinks was extremely unprofessional. We ordered and they said it would be a 30 min wait. Ok no problem we walk around and come back after 20 minutes and ask if an order for "Amy" is ready. The white male barista responded in an extremely condescending tone "Yeaaa actually we've been calling that drink the past 15 minutes." And another barista (side braid long hair glasses) said that they would remake it. Again ok no problem. We stand there another 15 minutes and watch as they close and start taking dishes to the back and ask if the remake for Amy is being worked on. White man: "We've been calling that name for 30 minutes you have to understand how frustrating that is" and we continue to go back and forth me explaining that we came back to the cafe after only 20 minutes and a barista said we would get a remake. We weren't speaking up for the first time after 30 minutes EVEN THOUGH THEY SAID THATS HOW LONG IT WOULD TAKE ANYWAY. So either he wasn't listening to me or he's slow. Even then, why lie to people ordering that its going to take 30 minutes when it isn't then GET MAD WHEN PEOPLE COME BACK AFTER 30 MINS? You are clearly lying and exaggerating your wait times so people stop ordering. I'm not sure if they forgot to do the remake even though we were standing there the entire time which is not my problem. I am not one to complain about service and certainly understand the struggle as a former food service/ coffee shop worker but this encounter was stupid and ridiculous considering I was not in the wrong at all. Included is a screenshot of the receipt for the drink i took after returning to the cafe and asking for a remake for proof and because I knew there was going to be an issue based off of that man's demeanor, tone, and attitude. He also said "you have got to be fu***** kidding me" as we were walking out The drink was good though :)
google avatar

Amanda C.

Yelp
The grilled cheese and tomato soup were extremely delicious! Ruth at the front counter taking orders is a gem. Very clean inside. I also really enjoyed the chocolate crosssiant.
google avatar

Reagan J.

Yelp
Excellent service, great food, and to think was all at the entrance to a national monument the Golden Gate Bridge. Eating a club panini whisk overlook SF bay is priceless.

Brittany W.

Yelp
I just walked all the way over here as fast as I could from the presidio. It says it closes at SIX. I made it here at 5:40, and they were closed already. Why does it say online they close at 6pm, if they are already closed at 5:40?! Doesn't make sense to me. I just walked here for nothing! I'm really annoyed.
google avatar

Stella H.

Yelp
Y'all be paying 10x more elsewhere for the view, I've lived in SF/Bay Area for a decade now. Long wait, kinda unorganized but friendly and food was pretty damn good for being a coffee shop and again, great views!
google avatar

Rachel L.

Yelp
I love the location! But as many others said, it's definitely not a location worth coming just for the coffee, there are def better cafe options in sf. This location is meant for those taking a walk to sightsee the golden gate bridge and need a coffee break. I came on a Sunday and I did find a space in one of the lots but you do have to walk a bit. The pastries and coffee are def not mind-blowing but if you're not picky and just want a quick snack with a beautiful view of the bridge. This will do it!
google avatar

Justin T.

Yelp
Dropped by to load up on caffeine before starting our walk across the Golden Gate Bridge. Saw they had seasonal lattes on the menu that looked interesting. I asked about the habibi latte and the cashier said she had no idea what it was and said not many people order it so I refrained from that- we instead opted for the wildflower orange oat latte, and OMG when I say my tastebuds were blown away, I mean they were BLOWN away. There were two possible ways this could have gone- either very nasty (who else has fallen into the trap of ordering a cocktail with wildflower syrup at a bar?) or mindblowingly good. This latte was perfect. Tasted like a cool spring day. Sad we don't have any equator coffee cafes in New York City... I feel like I'm going to be longing for this eternally. Have to say tho, it took quite a while for the latte to come out from ordering- then were really busy- it took about 20 minutes from ordering and paying to tasting this wonder. Loved the view of the Golden Gate Bridge as we sipped the lattes. And indeed, it fueled our round trip walk across the Golden Gate Bridge. Sadly, they were closed by the time we came back, so we couldn't get any beans.
google avatar

Audrey B.

Yelp
I came in to get a lavender vanilla latte but they were unfortunately all out of lavender. I got a maple walnut latte and it was delicious! They also had a seasonal strawberry matcha that I would like to come back and try. The only reason it doesn't get 5 stars is because it's pretty pricey for a small cup of coffee.
