Where to Get Outstanding Takeout and Delivery in Portland

"This Northeast MLK food cart is known for its knockout wings, available vegan or not, in flavors like ATL lemon pepper or peach sriracha. But the menu has plenty of other options that are great for group-friendly takeout: boiled peanuts, pimento cheese fries, and mac and cheese all come to mind. For solo dining, the cart’s entrees — like smothered chicken or tofu, shrimp and grits, or crispy catfish — are all strong options. Note: Erica’s Soul Food offers takeout only." - Brooke Jackson-Glidden

"Erica Montgomery wants to open Erica's Juke Joint, a restaurant and music venue that will serve as a community space with live music, events, and fundraisers. The venue will also host pop-ups for smaller-scale businesses and other Black chefs. Montgomery aims to challenge gentrification and support the Black community by establishing her business in a predominantly Black area." - Brooke Jackson-Glidden

Delicious! Got 10 vegan wings with the Lemon Pepper Atlanta sauce and a 4-side plate. The tots alone were so good we had to say something to her! Erica was delightful and her food is stellar, I can’t wait to come back for more!

Erica's is one of my favorite places to eat in PDX. Have followed her cart to several locations now, and the food has always been top-notch. She makes food like my grandma used to make in Texas. There is nowhere else I know of that offers some of these homemade dishes. My go-to is the salmon croquettes, black-eye peas, and collard greens, but everything else I have tried was also delicious.

I tried ordering shrimp and grits. There was no shrimp. I asked for just grits. Was told he couldn’t give me grits without shrimp. So I ordered catfish with cabbage and Mac and cheese. He said it would be 25 minutes. Half an hour later, I checked in with him. He had not started my food yet. And they were now out of cabbage. I asked for greens. Nope. Out of those too. My family was waiting and my other food was getting cold so since he hadn’t started my food yet, I asked for my money back. He pulled some cash out of the till, shoved it out the window at me and told me “Don’t come back.” Believe me, I won’t. And I suggest you shouldn’t either. Don’t know who the young man was, but I’m thinking he wasn’t a great hire for Erica.

I ordered the Mac and cheese and it was SO SALTY. I tried adding some milk at home to cut it, but it was so over salted that nothing helped and I had to toss the whole order. The order also took quite a while, so I was expecting something delicious and and they didn’t give me any utensils. Thoroughly disappointed.
