"This pizzeria is the sibling of a North End staple. Though it doesn’t have the gritty, old Boston charm of its older brother, Ernesto’s in Assembly Square still serves up a tasty — and massive — slice of pizza. As far as slice joints go, it’s hard to beat Ernesto’s." - Terrence Doyle

One of the most delicious 😋🤤 and fairly prices pizzas I have seen in Boston. They sell two slices of pizza for about $7 or 8. And have different varieties. I was surprised at the taste and quality and will go back again 😉😁

The pizza was not that great!, I was so disappointed, i heard so much about the North End Pizza's, I was not impressed at all. The crust tasted good, but it was the marinara\pizza sauce that ruined it for me; it tasted like tomato paste, it was very unpleasant. The staff was a bunch of teens not paying attention talking about comic books.

The food was amazing!! I loved their pizza and I normally hate crust but the crust was so good!! I paid $16 for 2 slices of cheese and 2 slices of pepperoni plus a drink!! I really recommend this place if you visit Assembly Row 🤗.

Google
Delicious! Highly recommend, especially if you get a whole pizza, though most of it is by the slice

I have to admit that I got some slices of pizza and they were good.As for service, in places like these there is no real service and the guys at the counter were there just to work but did not offer a different experience from the usual. Nice atmosphere for a pizza place by the slice and in a good location.

Google
The pizza here is absolutely delicious!! We had a team building event and ordered pepperoni, veggie, and margherita and it was a hit for all! Highly recommended!

Yelp
Captain 619 Review: Alright, listen up, youse knuckleheads! I just got back from Ernesto's Pizza in Boston, and let me tell ya, that cheese pizza is a real knockout, capisce? The crust? Perfectly crisp, like a solid alibi--holds it all together without falling apart, just the way a paisan likes it. Now, dat cheese? Fuggedaboutit! It's so gooey and melty, it's practically a crime how good it is. It sprawls across the pie like it owns the joint, and believe me, nobody's complainin'! And the sauce? It's got a little kick, just like a good fella--smooth but with enough attitude to keep ya on your toes. So if you're in Boston and you want a slice that'll make you feel like you're sittin' at the family table, you gotta check out Ernesto's. Trust me, this ain't just pizza--it's a taste of the good life. You won't regret it, or I'll send my boys to have a chat with ya!

Yelp
We paid a visit to Ernesto's to get some pizza and drinks. Tip: The inside of the venue is quite worn and looking a bit grubby; fortunately, that doesn't seem to have any negative effects on the food ;-) The slices we ordered were pretty good, though the salad I asked for never did appear.... Over and above the need for interior refurbishment, the staff doesn't seem to be working really hard at table and bathroom cleaning either - all things considered, next time we'll seek elsewhere for our pizza.

Yelp
While in line for 2 hours for the Hellp Kitty Pop up truck in assembly row, we got hungry like many others in line and what do you know, Ernesto's pizza was there to supply! Walked in, single bathroom quick pizzeria. I copped us a slice (pretty much 2 slices) for 8 bucks. Got the chicken bacon ranch and it hit the spot. Crispy good tasting dough in my opinion, toppings was good. Reheated for us and was quick. Kid friendly, few tables and window counter to sit at. On the go kind of pizza shop.

Lizzie Y.

Yelp
I was in line waiting for the Hello Kitty Cafe pop up and in total waited almost 3 hours to get to the front of the line. When we were in the middle, we were hungry and decided to get two pizza slices to snack on from Ernesto's. The chicken bacon ranch from here was SOO GOOD! I'm not even just saying that because we were so hungry... it was surprisingly very delicious. Pretty big slices too. I would definitely come back here whenever I am in Assembly Row. Still a month later after trying that one singular slice of pizza, I still remember how good it was.

Roland S.

Yelp
There were 12 different pizzas you could choose from to buy per slice. I got the old school that had tomatoes, basil, and Parmesan cheese. The toppings were good. What makes this slice amazing is the crust. Crispy with great undercarriage. The kind of pizza I'd expect in Boston. Loved it. They took only 3 minutes to warm it up and place on cheap paper plates. There were friendly and fast. Perfect for a pizza place. Place is clean with indoor and outdoor seating. I'd come here any day of the weeks for a quick bite or with friends. 10/10.

Neeka P.

Yelp
I've never been to Ernesto's in the north end but I thought this was pretty good. The buffalo chicken I liked less but it was still tasty. It just needed more chicken and maybe a ranch and buffalo sauce drizzle. The pepperoni was amazing!!! It was crispy and cheesy and just delicious. One complaint that I have about the pizza is that there's too much crust and it's not really seasoned but that's just person preference. Overall it was really yummy and I want to try the north end location now!!

Adina S.

Yelp
Ernesto's is solid, but nothing special. I've stopped by a few times while in Assembly Row when I'm trying to grab a quick meal on the go. They don't really sell pizza by the slice, since you're essentially required to order two slices at a time. Sometimes all I really want is one slice, but I'm suckered into ordering two. The service is quick, but I've found they don't always heat the pizza all the way. I generally eat outside, but they do have some indoor seating available as well. It's a casual spot, so you can eat there or take it to go. The pizza itself is fairly mediocre, but it gets the job done. It's a bit on the greasy side, so be prepared with some napkins. I generally go for the pepperoni or meat lovers, so that could definitely contribute to the grease factor. Overall, an okay spot.

Gauravi P.

Yelp
We took a look at the pizza slices to choose from and the chicken ranch bacon slice looked the best. The slice was humongous as it always is at Ernesto's and costed with one water bottle in total, $8. I asked if they could cut the slice in half which they said was no problem. The pizza oven got our pizza slice all crisped up which was fantastic. When I tried the slice which also had thin slices of tomato on it, it reminded me of the grilled cheeses with tomato my mom used to make at home. The pizza was fabulous and the crunch you got from the pizza crust and bacon complimented the also soft cheese my bite. I miss eating this slice of pizza. Service was fast and nice enough for a pizza joint. There was a bathroom customers could use which was great as well as plenty of pizza spice toppings available.

Yelp
My friends and I got take-out as we were at a nearby hotel in preparation for Encore. As I was not involved in the ordering or picking up process, I cannot speak for the organization or time management of that. However, it was hot and fresh by the time it made it to our room. It was a thin crust with slightly sweet tomato sauce. As someone who doesn't usually go for pepperoni pizza anymore, it might have reconverted me on to it. The crust had a fun chewy texture that made me keep coming back for more. In my opinion, I did not find it overly greasy and enjoyed each bite. Overall, I would like to order from here again and try some of their other options.

Winnie Z.

Yelp
They serve delicious large slices of pizza. The pizza is on the thinner side and crunchy. They offer outdoor seating, a nice spot to take a break with the kiddos, especially on the warmer days. It's an easy option for a quick bite while shopping, after visiting Legoland, or the movies at the Assembly Row area.

Aries S.

Yelp
We go the one in the north end of Boston. Been going for many, many, years. Always GOOD !!! The BEST pizza in the north end. It's small. On Salem Street in the North End of Boston. Always a line. Always delicious. Not a fancy place but ICONIC !!! You can eat in - a few tables - or share a table - or take it out. Just sooooo good.

Shaun L.

Yelp
We were tired of the usual spots and planned to hit up Costco but didn't want Costco pizza so we decided to stop off at Ernesto's. If you are not aware parking can be a pain in assembly, so we decided to eat our pizza in the car and luckily found a spot after we got the food. Ernesto's is a north end pizzeria that opened a second location in assembly. It is considered one of the better pizzas in the north end so we had pretty high expectations. When you order slices, be warned it's a 1/4 of a pie. So a slice is really We got the old school mozzarella and tomato, cheese, and the chicken ranch. It's thin crust with a nice crisp to it. You can tell the dough was really good but we felt the sauce lacked depth. It's overall a solid pizza without having to go to the north end.

Casey A.

Yelp
I truly have no complaints about Ernestos. I used to live in Assembly and it was my "treat yourself" lunch spot for a slice (which is really 2 giant slices by Ernestos standards) and a Caesar salad. The pizzas are so great, I love the basic cheese pizza or a pepperoni. The crust is crunchy and soft. The sauce is flavorful. No notes! Honestly, my family visited Boston recently and my mom went to Ernestos 3 times because she loves it that much.

Paul S.

Yelp
Great pizza. Highly recommended. New York-ish style pie. Not much seating inside. Order at the counter type of place.

Janet M.

Yelp
The BEST pizza around. So many delicious varieties to choose from. Jaun is the awesome. So friendly!!! My go-to in the North End !!!!

Katherine R.

Yelp
We stopped here for lunch today. The location is cute and I liked the representation of the north end in assembly, but I didn't really care for the pizza. I had the margarita style and thought that the crisp was good, but the taste was pretty bland. I had to add red pepper flakes and parm cheese on top.

Raquel G.

Yelp
Great service pizza is delicious im visiting from Miami. this is the place to have a great pizza good price

Katherine W.

Yelp
I absolutely adore Ernesto's ricotta and sausage pizza. A large is ready for you in 15 minutes, and the payment process (via Slice or in person) could not be smoother. If you only want one slice (i.e., 1/4 of a full pizza), I promise it'll be super filling and worth the price. In the past, I made the mistake of loading my Ernesto's pizza with A LOT of toppings (6 total, split half and half), and I admit it did not taste too good... Ernesto's is great at making simple, classic pizzas. Keep this in mind when you place your next order, which will hopefully be the ricotta and sausage! :)

Adrian B.

Yelp
Horrible product and even worse service. First, we ordered three different types of pizza. The server tossed them all into one box. Upon requesting separate boxes, she began to display a horrendous attitude - rolling her eyes, huffing and puffing, and throwing our food around. After receiving our food, we then recognized that it was cold. After requesting that it be warmed, she proceeded to resume throwing our food around and rolling her eyes at us. Finally, after warming the pizzas and reboxing them, she aggressively hurled the boxes at us. Management was dismissive when we complained. As for the product, we all felt sick and nauseous after having it. Stay away!

Victoria T.

Yelp
HUGE slices! Loved the pizza. When they say one slice, they really mean two. It's a quarter of the entire pizza. I got the chicken ranch, it was great. I thought it was better than the regular red sauce pepperoni pizza that I also got. I called to order and when I came by 10 mins later to pick it up, it was already done.

Clyde L.

Yelp
love there pizza slices. The somerville restaurant does not have the charm like Boston but it is easier to get to. Pizza slices are too numerous to mention but great. Just remember 1 slice can fill you up.

H F.

Yelp
I really wanted a slice of my favorite tomato pizza (the "Old School") from Ernesto's. And I wanted leftovers, so we figured we would order two slices each. (Since my husband can't eat tomato sauce we usually pick up pizza by the slice, and he gets his favorite white pizza there.) Since 4 slices = a whole large pizza, they offered to make a half and half, which is awesome; most places refuse to put red sauce on half only. Believe me, I have asked at several other places - they all say it's impossible. Well, I guess the impossible is possible at Ernesto's. And the pizza was amazing, as always.

Alison M.

Yelp
Great pizza. They have gf individual pizza too. Small restaurant if the weather is bad, but lots of outside seating if the weather is nice. You can park for free at the assembly row parking garage.

Alexander M.

Yelp
best pizza ever!! it had good goey cheese and hot. and thye allow many condiments to be put on the pizza! would recommend!!

Dipesh P.

Yelp
Large pizza for 20 bucks. It was pretty good pizza. The location is nice with plenty of parking and the staff was friendly. Not the greatest amount of seating but enough for us that night. I would recommend they have a lot of toppings and will be back.

Warren H.

Yelp
Nice place for Pizza at Assembly Row. Like Hawaiian (white pizza) and meat lovers. Love the North End location also. Always quick friendly service.

Devin W.

Yelp
Really disappointed with the rice ball. I ordered twoI because it looks crispy on the picture. Anyway, I'm doing this review so people know this is not crispy or crunchy, it's very soggy. They should let me return one. I hope they will tell people that it's not crispy when people order it. To be fair, the pizza is always good.

Chau L.

Yelp
It's not that easy to find the best pizza shops around because every street you drive down, there's a pizza joint. After trying Ernesto's, I think I have found my favorite pizza shop around. Their slices are massive and thick! The sauces on them are delicious and well seasoned! It's not watery at all. Every bite delivers great flavors into your mouth. The crusts are crunchy. It's not soggy like most places. You can fold each slice in half and it won't fall apart. The toppings tastes fresh and amazing. Their slices can be pricey but it's worth every penny.

Jenny U.

Yelp
It's a nice place to grab a quick bite. You get 2 slices of pizza when you order (that's the jumbo slice) it's 1/4 a pizza. Thin crust, which is always good. I failed to find that rich pizza flavor in my pepperoni pizza though, and i found that I was eating a lot of burnt edges. Also got an arancini, and they keep those in a fridge ready to place in the over. It's served in the plastic container they stored it, which is good for the environment- no waste :) I would prefer to be served fresh food rather than food that's sitting in the cold. I'd give it a go again and perhaps try ordering fresh. Not a bad place, but not memorable. If I'm craving pizza I'd go somewhere else. But it was there and we were hungry so we tried it out.

Okari O.

Yelp
I go to Ernesto's all the time. I'm surprised I haven't previously reviewed them, given I'm a regular customer and have eaten here so often. Before my visit today, I might reviewed Ernesto's highly. But not after today. I visited on a Friday evening because I wanted a quick, easy pepperoni pizza. I came in and saw three workers staffing the front of the restaurant, and saw they had two slices of pepperoni pizza available. I asked for one, to-go, and sat down. About a minute after I sat down, another customer came in and ordered two slices of pizza. They sat down but then got their pizza a few minutes later and left, meanwhile I still hadn't received mine. A few minutes later and I knew something was wrong; it doesn't take that long to heat a pizza. I started a timer to see how long they'd take. After more than ten minutes of waiting, one of the workers (who had been distracted chatting) opened up the oven and a ton of smoke came out. I knew it, they forgot my pizza and let it burn. I watched them grab the next slice of pepperoni and pop it in the oven. 1 minute 43 seconds later and that pizza was ready and they called me up. It should've been a quick in-and-out, it was just a pepperoni pizza! They wasted time as well as wasted a pizza.

Nicole L.

Yelp
Ernesto's in Assembly is one of the pizza places in our regular rotation. The slices are huge, and the side Greek salad is always good and fresh (also big). We like the plain cheese pizza (NY style) and eggplant pizza with ricotta.

Madison R.

Yelp
If you're looking for a lot of pizza and a great price, this is your place!! When you order a slice, for under $5, you get TWO HIGE SLICES! The restaurant is clean and has the pizza on display for you to choose from. I was shocked at how cheap the price was for the quality of food! We went twice. The first time we had just plain pepperoni pizza, which was good. The second time we went we had Basil mozzarella, which was absolutely incredible! I will be returning!!

Ellie W.

Yelp
Fair warning: Each slice is a quarter of a pizza, and you'll love every bit of it. This is my go-to for a quickie pizza that's super tasty and not your typical Domino's greasy pie. The Margherita is one of my favorites -- simple, refreshing, and delicious with a side of San Pellegrino Aranciata. If you close your eyes you might imagine you were eating homemade pizza, with a side of extra sauce and social distancing.

Manoj B.

Yelp
Nice little Pizza Shop at the Assembly Row. They offer Pizza by the slice. Decent flavors and good portions.

Blake C.

Yelp
When I first visited Boston, I stopped by the north end location, and it is still the best pizza I've had since I moved here. Well, I got diagnosed with celiac disease and have since been in the trenches of mediocre gluten free replacements. The Somerville location of Ernesto's, like everything else in Somerville, has a gluten free option, so this review is based on that (but I still advise Ernesto's has the best regular pizza by like a million miles). This is the only gluten free pizza that is truly convincing. Most places bake a stiff, cracker thin option. Some places use the Against the Grain crusts which are better but still out of the frozen section. I could be wrong, but this felt and tasted like it was made in house rather than coming out of a freezer. They also told me it would take a little longer which I politely acknowledged I would expect. What came out was genuine pizza. I'm serious, it held up against all the pepperoni grease, I was able to fold it in half, the cheese was gooey and melty, and it came with the perfect sauce and toppings that Ernesto's regular pizza comes with. Although Somerville is the only one with the GF option, both locations are delivering through Uber Eats throughout the pandemic, and odds are you want the regular pizza because the crust is perfect. I've been to the other hyped places and they got nothing on this.

Mike Z.

Yelp
$15 for a 18" cheese pizza pie is not a horrible deal but not great either, understandable given the location. The cheese and sauce is good, but the crust is too chewy; ease up on the flour! Jaw hurts after going through a few slices.

Melissa L.

Yelp
Yummy! This place is a great spot to get quick pizza. The slices are huge (more like 2 slices) but are considered one. They have SO many different combination pizzas, it reminds me a lot of Regina's pizza and it is also very cheap! I got the buffalo chicken supreme and it was 6$- YES! S I X DOLLARS It is very small place, so the odds to find a table to sit in are slim, especially during the weekday. But, if you are going to be in and out or want some pizza before going to the movies across the street, I would definitely recommend this one!

Oanh P.

Yelp
Love it! Small little pizza shop with indoor and outdoor seating. Their "1/4 pizza" is basically 2 slices. I had the chance to try the speciality one today: supreme buffalo. So fresh and crunchy! They have quite a variety. I believe it changes also. Would definitely come back to try other ones.

Jackie W.

Yelp
Since this is the only pizza place at Assembly Row I am grateful that they have yummy pizza because I love pizza. 15 bucks for a large cheese that will feed four people is not bad. However the restaurant is small so it is not an ideal sit down if there are more than 4 in your party. Of course you can always get pizza to go. Just want a slice? Grab one, it is a fourth of a large pizza!

George M.

Yelp
Great NY large slice thin crust with remarkable outer crust. All you need is one slice maybe two to be full so come hungry. Not much seating inside but great for takeout

Peyton B.

Yelp
It's decent pizza. When I bit into the crust it reminded me of pasta which was boiled in unsalted water served with a good sauce on top. A waste.

Chantel J.

Yelp
I was actually shocked with this place. I thought it was gonna be pretty basic, but then I found out they have hugeee slices. They had a ton of options although they weren't too friendly with explaining them to you. Pricing wasn't bad for how big of the slices were it was like 2 slices in 1. The crust was thin, crispy and perfect. Great toppings. Definitely will be back!

Tony T.

Yelp
We ordered from Ernesto's last night and was pretty happy with the pizza! We ordered via grub hub and my negative comments are that it took over an hour to arrive (an hour and 10 i believe) and the price is pretty high for a pizza (like $24.05 for this pizza, spinach, ricotta, mushroom and garlic). However I'm still giving Ernesto's a good review because I really enjoyed the pizza, in fact, I thought it should be considered one of Boston's best! Quality was outstanding!

Shatara C.

Yelp
I wasn't really a fan of this pizza joint, I thought it was a little pricey as well. It wasn't the best pizza I've tasted for the price, I thought it was a little doughy and not enough cheese, also my cheese seemed a bit burned. I didn't really taste the Italian seasonings that I hope for in any pizza I try. I took my students here on a field trip, they appreciated the free meal, but a few of them disclosed that it didn't taste great either. It wasn't the worst pizza but it's not on my list of top 10.

Jordan S.

Yelp
The people giving this place 4/5 stars don't know what they are talking about. They must be used to papa John's or Pizza Hut. This is Pizza for people who don't know pizza. I've tried a few times now and I wonder if the north end location is any better because I always see/hear people raving about this place. There's literally no flavor! I feel like I have to get a covid test after eating it. People must get enamored by large slices because there isn't anything else appealing about this place.

Meredith A.

Yelp
Just had a very unpleasant experience with whoever is answering the telephone at the Ernesto's at Assembly. Not sure if the hours changed or not, but my friend called first to check to make sure it closed at 9pm. This was confirmed. I called in with the order and was told it was closed and when I asked doesn't the store close at 9pm? I was hung up on.

Myan T.

Yelp
If you don't catch me at Earl's or Tony C's, you will definitely find me here. I usually stop by when I'm short on time or just need a quick bite. Yesterday was no different, as I was spending the day with my god daughter. We lucked out and came at a time when tables were available. Believe me, this place can get packed real quick, with a line outside the door even! So the slices are basically a quarter of the pie starting at $4. The prices are quite reasonable as it's kind of like a 2 for 1 deal. You also have the option to order a whole pie, which is probably a better value and a wiser choice. ;) I never come with enough bellies, so a whole pie is always out of the question. Also, if you happen to secure seats, the employee will bring your hot pie right to your table. If you arrive at a time when it's not busy, service is generally quick, say under 5 mins. FYI the pies are pre made and heated to order, which works for me! I always order the meat lovers as that it one of my favorites. My god daughter said it was delicious as well, expect for the crust, it is way too doughy, which I concur. I also opted for the veggie slice on my recent visit. Big mistake as I was a bit dissatisfied. There was no flavor to the veggies whatsoever. But I guess that's the logical reason they provide a condiment table...

TheWow G.

Yelp
This is hands down the BEST pizza in the area. The ranch chicken is fire!!! The crust is second to none.

Molly G.

Yelp
Assembly Row was really missing that quick and easy but good spot, especially with the AMC theater right there. Ernesto's fits the bill. I always have a struggle with weeknight movies. I get out of work at 5, so I can't get consistently get anywhere before 6, and then the evening showing starts at 7 (this grandma can't handle 9pm+ showings on a school night). I either scarf down a meal in 30 minutes and hope the waiter is fast with the check, or just skip dinner and fill up on popcorn. Either way, no good. M and I came here a few weeks ago before seeing Black Panther (if you haven't seen it yet, stop reading this review and go watch), and it was the perfect fit for a movie night. They had several types of pizza available by the slice (I opted for classic pepperoni), and super fast counter service. "Slices" actually constitute a quarter of a pizza (two slices anywhere else). M did a slice of pepperoni and a slice of chicken/ranch because he was feeling ambitious (spoiler alert: he couldn't finish them). Both were tasty. Not the best pizza you've ever had, but for the price and convenience, no complaints here. For drinks they have the standard fountain soda offerings. I'd love to see them get a beer/wine license, but hey, you can buy a beer at AMC (which we did). We'll be back for our next movie night in Assembly.
