I've seen so many positive reviews, so I had to give Ernie's a try. Bottom line, it's fine, not great...and I think maybe more of a nostalgic feel for people who have been eating there for years.
The first time we went, I had recently had covid, so I thought maybe that was the reason I found the fresh tomato pie to be completely bland and lacking flavor. Though taste aside, I found the crust to be thicker than average and more cheese than I'm accustomed to.
When my husband suggested going back, I agreed as I truly hoped it would wow me this time. However, still just average. Pizzas take forever to make, even when there's only 5-6 occupied tables. Bacon on our pie was a little undercooked for my liking. And in spite of adding garlic, it was still fairly bland.
The Eco-Friendly side of me also despises restaurants that use disposable products. Throw away cups, plates, and utensils. Cheese and red pepper in throw away containers. I feel like they could do better in this day and age. I'd rather have a soda in a glass bottle than a plastic cup, at least it would be recyclable.
I'm not saying stay away from this place. I'd eat there if friends really wanted to go. But for me, it's not worth the trip, and there are so many pizza places in the area that I like a lot more.
