My husband and I just left and everything was phenomenal! Definitely try the matzo soup, sesame chicken and hot pastrami. They were delicious and not too salty. The pickles were so fresh too! It’s so clean and nice inside so I’m glad we stayed to dine in.. Our server and the lady at the front register were so nice and welcoming. We for sure will be back :)

We love Essen!!!! Always impressed by their food! We had a sheva brachos here and they actually catered a few family events always with consistency, reliability, and beautifully executed. Everyone keeps telling us that they still dream about the crispy beef and brisket pinwheels from our party! Thank you Essen! You are decibels our family favorite

This place had terrible service, and delicious food. It's such a shame, the food was great, but what awful service! We had to ask for water at least 5 times. Out food took a long time to arrive, and when it did, my son's burger did not arrive, we were told, "It was coming soon." This wasn't a difficult order, it was 3 pastrami sandwiches. And 2 burgers. We finally got the 2nd burger 15 minutes later! We had to ask repeatedly for coleslaw and pickles. Our waiter kept telling us he was busy, even though it was a Tuesday night and the place was halo empty. We finally had to resort to asking the maitre d for pickles and coleslaw. He brought is pickles that looked like they had been bitten (see picture below.) What a shame! We won't be going back.

The service the food the decor the whole entire feel of the restaurant is absolutely fantastic! This is our first time coming here. And they have made a customer of myself and my wife for me for life. I cannot express to you in words. How fantastic the service and the food was. And how nice and clean the place is. This establishment has become one of our favorites.Now, we will be back many times.

Essen NY Deli is a winner! The pastrami sandwich was piled high, perfectly smoked, juicy, and flavorful — one of the best in the city. Corned beef and matzo ball soup were excellent too. Service was super friendly and fast, even during the lunch rush. The place is clean but pretty basic/no-frills vibe. Great kosher deli spot — definitely worth it for the food alone!

Love the new location, sort of miss the old and nostalgic place on Coney where Essex was forever. This is a go to lunch spot for me for meetings. It’s a Deli. Order the deli and comfort food. Best coleslaw/pickle combo in the kosher world. And the potato salad is a must. They simply make the perfect deli sandwich. Table service can be improved. Love the cleanliness. Fantastic.
