London’s Best Hidden Restaurants in Unlikely Locations | Eater London

"Forget standard newsagent snacks, Moorgate Post Office has its own hot food set-up, Essentials Food To Go. Specialising in various Indian curries and street food, the food is served cafeteria-style from large gastronorm trays and can be eaten in — avoid visiting at peak lunch times if so. The meat curries are fine if not slightly unremarkable, but its with the vegetarian dishes that Essentials Food To Go really excites. Think delicately spiced chana masala, egg curry with a rich sauce, vibrant green saag paneer, and myriad chaats." - Jonathan Hatchman

Decent Indian food but small portions despite the big box. Seems they use large boxes to deceive portion sizes . The large daal fry ordered was only filled up to 3/4 of the box. Disappointing on what would have been a decent meal.

This is a good place for a quick lunch in the middle of work. The service is pretty fast even when there is a line. Although, I will say that there is a wait of about 6-8 minutes to get a wrap because I assume they heat up the bread on the stove and make it semi-fresh. I had their chana masala (which is vegan) with rice. The small box (which I got) was only £6 and I thought it was more than substantial. Their bigger box is £7 and I believe it could almost make for two meals. Overall, it’s very good value for money. They also have a wide variety of options including vegan and veggie options, which I love! Is this the best Indian food I’ve had in London? No. But it’s definitely a very good, affordable and convenient option for lunch when you’re around the city.

I have no idea what the bad reviews are all going on about. This is a lunch takeaway place which does really great curry, all things considered. Don’t expect anything other than a tasty ruby with awesome Punjabi pakoras and naan bread. This will feed your craving and not upset your tummy.

Very decent, not too spicy Indian food. Besides the classic curries they also have the "Indian Chinese" dishes. Fast service with a smile. Their medium size box is more than enough for a work lunch (the curries are on the heavy side).

I love Indian food. Bought a lamb with rice which cost 5.99. Poor quality rice and taste. I could get a set meal in Soho for 4.50.

Food looks and smells nice but lacks flavour. It feels like they don't know what salt is. I recommend whitecrescsnt market.

Ask for my two samosas to be extra hot, from microwave she put in 3 items gave me my two items which were both as cold as my cold drink, how could you not notice, no sorry has to ask bloke to put back told to do individually, don’t listen cold again, gave them back ended up one hot one cold, no sorry just attitude look, very rude and incompetent, will never eat there again and will do my upmost to spread the word, Great work 👌
