8 Menus To Try During Fort Lauderdale Restaurant Month - Eater Miami

"While the main focus of Etaru revolves around the ever-popular robotayaki grill, there’s plenty more to be in awe of from sushi to tempura to dumplings. Meals can get on the pricey side, making Crave GFL the ideal opportunity to experience the dishes with its $45 tasting menu that includes items like black kampachi sashimi with yuzu truffle, sweet potato tempura, beef, ginger, and sesame dumplings and scallops with yuzu mayo. There’s also the Etaru dessert platter, an assortment of all things sweet in the restaurant. The tasting menu is available Sunday through Thursday for lunch and dinner and requires a minimum of two people." - Alona Martinez

The place is nicely done, it can be casual or formal depending on your needs. It's elegant without being stuffy. The food is delicious, fresh, and greatly presented. Portions are a little bigger than tapas but not too big and great for sharing. Will definitely be coming back and checking out the other location. The service was also great and she knew just what to recommend. She was friendly and checked on us often without being overbearing.

Finally was able to stop by Etaru & check out their happy hour that I'd been hearing about for a while now to celebrate a friends birthday. We got a table in the lounge & ordered pretty much 1 (if not 2) of everything on the happy hour menu along with some cocktails & wine. The happy hour menu is great, lots of drink & food options!! Our server was nice & attentive & the manager Liz was great & did everything possible to make sure we had a great time! She even noticed that some of us weren't drinking alcohol & offered us some mocktail options & they were so delicious! It was a really nice evening in a comfortable atmosphere with a really nice vibe. The food was so delicious that we kept ordering off of the regular menu after happy hour was over & were stuffed but still had room for their AMAZING birthday dessert.....OMG!!!!! I'll definitely be back!!

The service was impeccable. The cocktails were on point. They have happy hour everyday and on Sundays until 9 pm. There's seating inside and out and a small bar. The food was incredibly fresh. We got the tasting menu along with a few other items and everything came out beautifully done. The dessert had a nice touch- it was my birthday so they made a 'Happy Birthday' dessert platter. The only gripe is the bill. Yes, its incredibly fresh and delicious but the portions are quite tiny in comparison to the price. Either than that, we will definitely be back for some maki rolls and nigiri. Good date night spot.

Decided to come to Etaru when in town on the recommendation of a friend. We (myself and two friends) decided around 5:30/6 that we wanted to go and were able to get a reservation at 8 PM (but we arrived early and they sat us immediately). Etaru is on Las Olas, a great shopping/restaurant/bar street in Ft. Lauderdale so even if you have to wait, you can grab a drink at the bar here or elsewhere. We looked at the menu and briefly pondered the premium tasting menu but decided to order a couple appetizers to start while we were thinking...we liked them so much that we just decided to go for it and do the tasting menu (2 person minimum). Every dish was delicious in its own way and I would highly recommend it (despite the $95 price tag). I'm not even a sushi person but this place may have converted me. SETTING: Dimly-lit in general but the tables themselves are well-lit (perfect for food photography). Though it's a big restaurant, the tables are spaced-out enough so you can have an intimate dinner. FOOD (in the order served): Black Kampachi Sashimi - This thinly-sliced sashimi with yuzu truffle dressing, mizuna (greens), and pickled vegetables was so rich with the truffle dressing, I wish I could each every single slice (rather than sharing with my friends ) Sashimi Platter plus yellowtail tartar and oysters - again, like I said, I am (or at least was) not a sushi fan, nor an oyster fan, but I loved this platter...not too fishy on the oysters and I loved all the sashimi. Crispy Prawn Maki - with the fried prawns was avocado and asparagus and just dipping in the soy sauce was a delight. Nothing too fancy here, just a good sushi roll. Beef, ginger, and sesame dumplings - this was one of the initial appetizers that sold us on the tasting menu. The dumplings were crispy on the outside and meaty and juicy on the inside. I wish we got an order of 10! Scallops with yuzu mayo - Scallops are just the best. Always rich. Close your eyes delicious. Broccolini, ginger, and moromi miso dressing - probably the least memorable thing on the tasting menu (I can't really think of it as I write this review) Lamb cutlets with korean spices and cucumber - lamb chops are the bomb but then add on Korean spices and BAM...they're elevated Asparagus with sweet soy sauce and sesame - Good, not great Black cod Toban with piri pri and scallions - by this time, I was getting somewhat full but chugging through. This was essentially a paella but Asian and was so yummy. Prime beef filet with eryngii mushrooms - DAMN. Perfectly-cooked medium-rare beef Etaru Dessert Platter - perhaps the biggest surprise and most memorable thing we ordered. This dessert platter was so creative and beautiful to the eye (see the picture). It had chocolate cake, three different flavors of homemade sorbet, some chocolate pudding concoction with Chewy things inside it, fresh fruit, and some coconut ball filled with delicious cream and on top of pomegranate seeds. Honestly, I don't know how to describe half of it but it was delicious and whether you get the tasting menu or not, you should get this. OVERALL: My favorite dishes were the dumplings, the lamb, the scallops, and the dessert platter. Would I come back for this tasting menu? Definitely. Because of how much I liked this, I will be doing more tasting menus. Thank you Etaru for a delicious dinner.

FANTASTIC I sparingly give 5 stars but ETARU definitely deserves it. We went for Crave Ft Lauderdale. Their tasting menu was $45 per person. A beautiful minimalist restaurant with a large outside patio. The only drawback is the noise level inside. We got a 3 flight dinner with 3 courses within each flight plus an AMAZING dessert platter. 1st Flight: Black Kampachi Sashimi, Yuzu Truffle Dressing Salmon Tartar, Yuzu den Miso with Crispy Nori 3 sashimi selection 2nd Flight: Raw Salmon Maki, Avocado, Asparagus and Wasabi Tobiko Sweet Potato Tempura with Tempura Sauce Beef, Ginger and Sesame Dumplings 3rd Flight: Scallops with Yuzu Mayo and Seasoning Prime 8oz Skirt Steak with Wasabi Chimichurri Broccolini, Ginger and Moromi Miso Dressing Both the food and the presentation were unreal. To finish with that dessert platter hit it out of the park. Can't wait to return and to tell everybody how great ETARU was.

Etaru came as a recommend restaurant from a relative. This place does not disappoint! Fantastic sushi. We had the Semi fatty tuna sashimi, spicy tuna sushi rolls and the Yellowtail. Are was fabulous. My wife chose the teriyaki salmon entree and I chose the scallops. We also added some sides, roasted asparagus and grilled corn. Everything was prepared to perfection! Extremely talented chef. Not only will I be back but I will recommend this restaurant to anyone I meet.

Liz, thank you for making our visit on a Sunday night memorable. You were extremely helpful. Your sake knowledge helped us choose a bottle for Soke Sunday. Tangee was an exceptional server. We enjoyed the salmon, broccolini and hot pot. Before dinner we had four happy hour cocktails. Beautiful night nonetheless.
