Etto was an unforgettable dining experience and arguably one of the best meals of my life. We were greeted at the door and shown to our 2 of the 8 seats that allow you an up front viewing to the chefs. Each dish was carefully prepared in front of you and we were provided with an explanation of the dish, its ingredients, and how to eat the dish. There was some language barriers as they explained the dish but they were very accommodating and used Google translate for some of the more complicated dishes. We chose to do the optional wine pairing which included a glass of wine selected specifically to compliment each dish. The wines were fantastic and each had a generous pour. During the meal we were able to speak with the chefs and get to know them better which added to the overall experience. This is a must try restaurant when you are in Kyoto.

Had an unforgettable dining experience at Etto. We weren't sure what to expect, but we were truly blown away by each Italian-Japanese dish and the exceptional service that was provided. Each dish was meticulously prepared in front of you, then was presented to each guest with an explanation on what the dish consists of and how the dish was meant to be eaten. The chefs were courteous and friendly, and it was obvious that they truly enjoy their craft. I will definitely come back to Etto every time I'm in Kyoto. I've already recommended it to my friends and family as a must-go restaurant in Kyoto. I'm so glad this new restaurant is getting the recognition that it deserves with it's recent feature in the Michelin guide!
