‘Roseanne’ Restaurant Is Coming to Life at SXSW - Eater Austin

"As part of cult favorite television show Roseanne’s comeback, network ABC is recreating the show with a pop-up during South by Southwest, complete with a recreation of iconic Lanford Lunch Box. It’ll take place at the Volcom Garden at 1209 East 6th Street from Saturday, March 10 through Monday, March 12, from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. each day. The SXSW rendition of Lanford Lunch Box’s menu will consist of dishes from the show. This means loose-meat sandwiches, pies, coffee, and Canoga Beer (the show’s fictional brand of root beer). The rest of the pop-up will include recreations of the show’s living room, and garage, koozies, and other swag." - Nadia Chaudhury

Google
Eureka. Lake took fabulous care of us and also gave us some directions of what to do around town. I love this guy‘s personality. He was awesome. We ordered the bison burger. It was cooked perfect and had a big jam and caramelized onions on it. I didn’t want seed oil french fries so I ended up getting Caesar salad and it was delicious. I WOULD RECOMMEND

None of us had ever been to this restaurant, so we were looking forward to checking it out. We went on a Thursday after lunch and before dinner, so only a few people were there. Our waitress was kind, funny, and attentive. We had a window seat and I loved that it was wide open! We had a good time joking with the people outside walking by, not to mention it was a great spot for people watching! Oh yeah, and the food…the reason we were there in the first place😄, it did not disappoint! Everything looked and smelled delicious. Each dish was nicely presented and super tasty. Overall, a great experience! This will now be one of my favorite places to visit whenever I’m in Austin.

Google
I really liked this spot! I was looking for a place to grab dinner with my family. I found this place on Google and made a reservation. There was no wait time, service was excellent, and the inside of the place is nice and clean. We went on a Saturday evening, and this lady came up and started performing, which was awesome too! For food, my son got chicken strips and French fries, of course! My girl got a Nashville hot chicken sandwich, and I took a bite, and it was delicious. The truffle fries were on point as well. I got Fish and Chips (risky, I know), but it was fantastic. Our drinks were good, and they had a great selection. Price-wise, it was what you would expect—standard prices for a nice restaurant bar establishment. Overall, this place gets 10/10. I highly recommend it. I'll be going back for sure.

Google
If you’re craving a seriously good burger in Austin, Eureka! is the spot. The burgers here are next level juicy, flavorful, and cooked to perfection. Every bite was packed with bold, fresh flavors that totally hit the spot. The vibe is modern and laid-back, with great service and a solid menu beyond burgers too. But honestly? The burger alone is worth the visit. ⭐️ A must for burger lovers you’ll leave full, happy, and already planning your next visit.

Google
The boys and I came here with an appetite. Wanted to try something new, and this place delivered! The loaded nachos were indeed loaded, the burgers were as well. Spend the money and get the truffle fries if you want a slightly elevated flavor. But the highlight for me was the pastrami quesadilla. Perfect umami flavor with a tinge of spice from the sauce. Absolute banger. Looking forward to coming back.

Kalia A.

Google
Valeria was awesome! Gave great recommendations, was attentive, and thoughtful. We truly appreciated her vibe! This spot has live music, is medium loud, and the food was out of this world! The following burgers were the ones we tried and loved: *The Bison *BBQ Bacon *Eureka American *Spicy Fried Chicken *Wings: Firecracker & BBQ Dry Rub The only downside is parking. They’re on 6th street so plan ahead or use a ride share.

Google
We enjoyed, there were some service issues upon arriving but food was pretty good and atmosphere as well. I got the tipsy pig drink which was great in the manner they served and was a good blend as a double . We have been in Austin for 4 days now and although not the best give it a shot

Google
Fantastic whiskey selection, must stop if you're interested in trying out some flights. Meals was seasoned perfectly and very fresh, one of the few times where eating out didn't feel like junk food. Service was also great, our server did a good job recommending dishes and checking up on us frequently. Just an awesome experience if you want a fancy dinner in downtown.

Yelp
Cool little place right down in the middle of it all. We had lunch there and the staff was really nice. I think they were a little short handed because our server was buried but he did a really good job not letting on but we could tell he was rushing. The food was EXCELLENT the truffle fries which I know are just fries really exceeded expectations. They were so good. We also split a burger and a quesadilla and both were well prepared and tasty. We both agreed next time we're just going to get arugula salad for our sides as it was another highlight.

Yelp
I'm honestly mystified by the "Crispy Veggie Burger," given such a specific name promising a textural experience that it absolutely does not delivery. I'm all for a vegetable-based patty, I adore beets, and the fact that it's made in-house is to be celebrated, but crispy, it is not. Soft on the outside, mushy on the inside, it's more like lightly seared refried beans on a bun. Fun ambiance, great drink list, incredibly kind and welcoming staff, plus vegan options, so I'm not mad at it. Just a little bit disappointed.

Yelp
Stopped in late afternoon/early evening for a drink and some light bites. Got some nachos with steak and french fries along with a cider and a Eureka Sour. The nachos were nachos and had a respectable amount of heat from fresh jalapenos. I thought the fries were excellent - good texture and not greasy. Service was a little inconsistent. They were not busy and did not appear short staffed, but it was difficult to get the bar staff's attention for another drink or more food. It seems like the kind of place you can socialize and that it gets quite loud when it's busy.

Yelp
Enjoyed our meal. Four people - five macaroni ball's, three burgers, one Cesar salad. Great service. 100% on top of it. Macaroni Balls - do it. 5 in a serving. Better than expected. BBQ Burger - good. But not as many onion strings as in the glamour photos on yelp. Cheese Burger - yum, great sauce and pickles. Smash Burger - bigger than most smash burgers. Was expecting thinner pattys but came out stacked. Fries - crispy and salty. Pretty darn perfect. Not on the menu, GREAT MUSIC. I loved what they were playing.

Yelp
Austin did not disappoint when it came to food. One of our stops was Eureka. We sat at the bar and the service was great. I don't remember the margarita we had but it had cucumber in it. It was so refreshing. We ordered the nachos , wings and mac n cheese balls. The nachos were good and the salsa had a slight sweetness to it. A nice touch. The mac and cheese balls surprised me having a some heat to it. Very tasty. The wings were my favorite. Nothing fancy. Just well seasoned. I can see this being a great place to sit at the bar or grab a table for more of a date vibe. I enjoyed !

Yelp
We visited Eureka! last night and the food was decent. I ordered the jalapeño and egg burger with the truffle fries which was good. Although I could have done without the truffle fries and the extra $3 charge. It was drenched with truffle oil, which was overpowering. The burger meat was good, but it was nothing to rave about. We also ordered the macaroni and cheese balls, which were actually good and would recommend. The service was great. The hostess seated us right away without any wait since there were hardly any people in the restaurant. Our waiter was helpful and very friendly. The ambiance was nice except we sat by the front window by the hostess stand, and we witness two homeless men fighting. There is a large full bar in the center of the restaurant, which has a lot of cocktail selections. It would be a nice place if there were not a ton of homeless loitering on the side of the restaurant.
google avatar

Taria C.

Yelp
The food was really good. They are very busy so there could be a wait. It's right on the corner, and they left the front doors open and the outdoor was busy and loud. Caesar salad didn't have enough dressing. The fries were really good. The salmon was a bit dry and lack favor. It seemed frozen. But the mashed potatoes were really good too.

Yelp
Went for lunch with a few co-workers. The food is good, we ordered various burgers and a chicken sandwich. The service however was super slow! Like to the point we almost left as they took forever to take our order or come back for us to be able to pay. They were severely understaffed and the waitress did her best. So maybe management should revisit staffing to ensure faster service but food over all was good!

Yelp
Some of the best gurgers you will find in the IE. Slaters maybe gone but eureka is a fine comparable.

Yelp
Honestly I had really high hopes for this place. I hate leaving bad reviews but for the price point you would expect more. Especially being on 6th street. Firstly we walked in there was maybe 6 other people dining. Seating was fast however service was not. Appetizers: * Mac N Cheese Balls 3/10. They look like they would taste good but majority of what you get is the bread batter not actual Mac n cheese. Tasted more like hush puppies if anything. Entrees: * Baja fish tacos 2/10 Again presentation is great but taste was not. Had little to no flavor. For the price point the tacos are super small. Waiter told us it came with 4 ended up with 3. The ranch it came with was good though. *Eureka All American with Truffle Fries & cheese 3/10 The onion is a little over kill. The buns were stale/cold and tasted like they came from Walmart. The actual meat of the burger was okay. The fries were not the best. Tasted old and soggy in oil. Smelled weird as well.

Yelp
On my first night in Austin, Texas, staying downtown at The Driskill, I grabbed dinner across the street at a lovely whiskey and burger bar with a wonderful selection of bourbons, cocktails, and burgers that offer gluten-free bun options. Eureka! The ambiance was quite dark and cool, with antler-built chandeliers and LED lighting radiating from parts of the bar and walls toward the back. The bartender was hospitable and patient as I scanned the menu for drinks and food. The Fresno Fig burger and white Truffle Cheese Fries were quite yummy. You can order any of their burgers and sandwiches with gluten-free bread as an alternative, which was great since I had cut out most bread from my diet. They have a solid whiskey selection to enjoy neat, on the rocks, mixed, or in a cocktail. The George T Stagg was one bottle I saw right away that I couldn't pass up for the price they offered, compared to other bars I have seen it. Cocktails such as their Morning, Peaches were additionally delicious, which turned out to be the finisher of my meal.

Yelp
First time coming into Eureka on East 6th in Austin! The food was really good! My gf and I got the broccolini to share. (Trying to be baddies that eat veggies) it didn't disappoint. I got the ahi ahi tuna half salad. It was plenty of food and had a lot of flavor. My friend got the fish tacos with sweet potato fries. She liked her meal. We sat at the bar. The bartender was super sweet! She gave us some recommendations of things we should do while we were in town! Would def come back!
google avatar

Yelp
This place was on our list for watch football games. It wasn't busy so there were plenty of bar stools. We ordered a bison burger with a side salad. The food was absolutely fantastic. The Campfire cocktail was cool. The service was also good. Perfect place to chill out.
google avatar

Jerry E.

Yelp
Wow. First time here. We started with the Mac and Cheese balls (sorry, no pic - but the pictures already shown accurately represent them). I was expecting a typical cheese flavor. But there was a nice little zing from the beer cheese and (I think maybe) Fresno chilies. Not enough to be spicy, just enough to enrich the flavor. Bottom line, they were really good. For dinner, my wife ordered hand breaded chicken tenders with a salad. I ordered a Cowboy Burger with fries. Burger was amazing. Great meat, bun, shoestring onions - everything. The chicken tenders, I particularly like how they are cut long and thin. Definitely fresh, hand battered. Service is really good. Nice casuall ambiance. The biggest issue is that we are not 6th street types. It is on 6th street. So if you like coming to this area, this is a must try.

Yelp
Love it! Amazing good, service and good vibes! Our waiter was friendly, attentive and the drinks were good!

Yelp
First visit, easily accessible at an intersection with paid parking on the street. Greeted at hostess stand by friendly staff, immediately ushered to a table as the restaurant was slowly filling up by the dinner crowd. There is a small stage for live music with a relaxed atmosphere throughout and ample seating. We enjoyed our delicious meals of pulled pork sandwich and fries and juicy medium well burger and fries.
google avatar

Yelp
I had the chicken sandwich, don't remember the exact name-but GOLLY! First time there before the rush. The water cups they serve you, I fell in love. The ambiance was great. I was there with a friend & my sisters. Behind us was a group of friends & next to them was a couple on a date. Very veriste. The sandwich was out of this world. The server was super excited about it being our first time there & friendly. Can't wait to go back.

Yelp
Not bad for a place in Downtown that has decent burgers that come with plenty of fries on the side. I didn't appreciate the random fruit flies at my booth, but despite that, the food quality and service was good! Our server checked in on us what seemed like every ten minutes, lol. I shared a plate of brussels sprouts that were delicious, but could have been crispier in my opinion. For my burger, I got the beet burger which had a gorgeous pink-purple hue on the inside and the right amount of crisp and crunch. The burger could have had more aioli/sauce, but at least it came with a generous amount of ketchup for both the bun and fries. Prices were reasonable too!
google avatar

Tiffaney C.

Yelp
Cute ambiance very modern and clean. The bartender was amazing, great service and drinks. I had the wild child drink, it was absolutely delicious! We had the American burger with cheese truffle fries. It was great and would totally order again! The truffle fries were the show stopper!
google avatar

Novalina N.

Yelp
We came with an 8-person group. The restaurant was pretty empty at 530pm except for some people at the bar. The highlight is our waitress, who was attentive the entire time. She made sure that everything tasted good and we got our drinks refilled. We ordered a ton of appetizers as a start. I enjoyed the brussels sprouts and ordered 2 more portions of it (crazy I know). The fries, shishito peppers, and mac n cheese balls were also tasty. My main dish was the grilled salmon. I didn't want the potato puree or green beans. I replaced it with broccolini instead (with cashews on top). I thought the substitution was tasty and somewhat more healthy. Thank you Eureka for accommodating all my modifications! The minus 1 star is for the price. I thought the price was pretty steep, especially for the appetizers. It might be pretty standard for downtown though!

Yelp
While down on Sixth Street to see a show at the Comedy Mothership down the block, we decided to have dinner beforehand at Eureka!, a casual dining and drinking establishment nearby. The menu is a nice mix of traditional burgers, salads and more with some modern updates. I ordered the jalapeño egg burger and it was served exactly as I wanted, a perfect medium rare. The bun came buttered and toasted and it was a great combination. Excellent service provided by our waiter, David. I'll bring my friends here on future visits. Recommended.
google avatar

Denise S.

Yelp
My husband had the BBQ Bacon burger and he said it's greasy but good, he liked it. He had the regular French fries and they were fine as well. I ordered the regular cheeseburger it was also greasy but ok, the onion was billed as "grilled" but it was really just hot. Mine was delivered with no condiments and the sweet potato fries were dripping in oil. I used paper napkins to try and blot the oil off but it didn't work they were mushy and had no salt. Not edible. The service was fine.
google avatar

Donald R.

Yelp
About the only place on 6th Street that had quiet dining it has an old industrial style ambience with reclaimed wood all around. A large list of whiskey, beer and wine. I had a Caymus red blend which was excellent. My wife and I shared their house salad to start. It was above average and the vinaigrette they used really added flavor without being too bold. We also shared the bison burger with the hot pepper on the side. It's a good thing we did, because wife said it was HOT! The burger was cooked perfectly and the rest of the toppings along with the toasted brioche bun made it above average too. We opted for the sweet potato fries which had a sweet seasoning. We would have preferred salt, but they were still good and a nice compliment to the burger. Our server (Lilly) was outstanding. The perfect blend of knowledge, care and personality.
google avatar

Yelp
Good relaxing atmosphere for watching a game, and the hosts and restaurant staff were friendly. Service was a bit slow and the food was good.
google avatar

Yelp
I visited Austin this weekend, and my cousin recommended this restaurant. They have a decent food menu, and the drink menu has a lot of good options. We sat at the bar. I liked the vibe. It was chill, and the bartender was friendly. We ordered appetizers since we weren't starving. The mac and cheese balls were good. The breading was crunchy, and the mac and cheese was cheesy. The spinach artichoke dip was delicious. They served it with chips and bread. It was super crunchy and seasoned. I had an expresso martini. My only complaint I have is that my fiancé ordered Cali flower bites, and they smelled like fish. I liked how the martini wasn't strong. It was the best one I had so far

Reese M.

Yelp
Service was good and they were very attentive. The food was really good, and they do happy hour till close. Darker atmosphere but was really nice ambiance at nights
google avatar

James W.

Yelp
Absolutely loved it there I had a great time with my family and delicious food! The customer service was amazing and the server was very nice. The restaurant has a very good and chill vibe and i didn't notice any odd people there.
google avatar

Michael B.

Yelp
Great service with food to complement. Right in the middle of downtown Austin so conveniently located if staying there. We were seated quickly and food came out hot and ready. No complaints at all. Just a solid restaurant that has a little bit of everything on the menu. Burgers are delicious and Mac and Cheese balls are a must.
google avatar

Laura M.

Yelp
Solo girl approved! Hoppy hour is everything! Worth coming back just for the Wild Child, the mint simple syrup and watermelon takes this drink to a whole new level of refreshing. The hoppy hour burger had amazing flavor and you absolutely should upgrade the fries to truffle cheese- game changer!! Sweet staff too, thoroughly enjoyed!
google avatar

Lorrie-Ann R.

Yelp
Service was fast and everyone was kind and welcoming. We were seated on a high top near the bar which was perfect for watching multiple football games at once. The food was ok and pricey. I got the wings with the dry rub. The wings come 7 for $17. Why? lol the taste was ok. I ended up asking for bbq sauce to make them better. My partner got the bison burger with sweet potato fries. His burger was dry. He also asked for additional sauce to enhance the taste. We shared the Brussels sprouts. These were good. Very flavorful but a small plate. Overall- the menu descriptions are top notch but the flavors of our dishes left a lot to be desired.
google avatar

Paul D.

Yelp
Staff were very friendly and service was quick. They have a pretty decent Espresso Martini and the food was delicious. They are known for their burgers but I went with the Fish and Chips and they did not disappoint. The truffle cheese fries were also fantastic and I would definitely recommend them. The atmosphere was relaxed and we were sat next to an open window at the front of the restaurant which was nice. Would definitely return.

M Ali M.

Yelp
Small portions, have to improve on quality and quantity of food they serve. A plate of Fish Taco consists of 3 miniature sized Tacos and fries. Salmon Salad is a small plate of Lettuce with a piece os Salmon( size of Salmon was acceptable) . Probably a good place to hang on for a drink and music , but not for food.

Dalia V.

Yelp
Went for the good burgers and fell in love with their margarita. The Spa Margarita has cucumber foam and is marvelous. They also had a nice whiskey selection.
google avatar

Mildred A.

Yelp
The Ginger Lime soda is 100% a most try!!! Also you have yo get the marrow burger at least once! I like the ginger green beans but it was a bit salty to me. Good service as always, the bartenders were nice and friendly!
google avatar

Sheewon B.

Yelp
I ordered the Eureka salad with steak added, glass of cab and the carrot cake. OMG. The carrot cake. I don't know why more people aren't here, but everything was exactly to my liking. Delicious, and they're open late.
google avatar

Kristin J.

Yelp
This was our first time here and Skylar was absolutely wonderful! Met our special needs and accommodated a larger group of post-convention supernatural fans that simply wanted food and alcohol. The food was great while the service was well above amazing. Job well done!
google avatar

Suzanne M.

Yelp
I hit up Eureka! twice on my short visit to Austin. We stayed primarily for a drink and some apps. The atmosphere is great, but both times we visited they seemed very short on wait staff... like very short, and the restaurant was only about 25% full. Everyone was scrambling, doing the best they could, but you can't help but feel the stress of a taxed waitstaff. The food was slow to arrive, but we weren't in a hurry and had no complaints about the food itself.
google avatar

Winter S.

Yelp
This was our first time trying Eureka, and it was after searching many other restaurants. One of our favorite restaurants closed last week, and we needed something good and lots of variety in the menu, because we like to share appetizers. We enjoyed the dry rub and orange glaze wings so much, that we ordered another plate of them! They were a bit pricey, but splitting the order with someone else helps. The Brussels sprouts were flavorful, and toppings were satisfying. The staff was friendly, the service was fast, and we are definitely going back!
google avatar

Haley D.

Yelp
To start, the establishment is located in downtown Austin and is on the corner of 6th Street. On first view, it's a hole in the wall but the atmosphere is extremely nice. Upon entry we were greeted by a hostess, she sat us at a table for 4. We requested a larger table because well, we like to eat. We were told that table wasn't available because an interview was coming. Our waiter, Francis, must of been having a bad day because he was not the best. Our drinks were empty, he didn't woo us, no etiquette, no greeting, plates were stacking up which we stacked ourselves. Now I know you're wondering well how do you know his name? We had to call the manager because the service was bad! When we expressed our issues, we mentioned the interview, the manager stated that there wasn't any interviews. Now onto the food, the Wild Child drink was extremely tasty! If you do anything, order that (21+). We ordered Bone Marrow Burgers, truffle fries, Mac and cheese balls, spicy chicken sandwich, and chicken tenders. The Bone Marrow burgers were perfect! The spicy chicken sandwich was delicious. The chicken tenders were primarily bread. There was no chicken inside, so I re-ordered the spicy chicken sandwich. The only thing saving this review is the truffle fries and Mac and cheese balls. I'm actually pretty sad because we came from VA to visit friends who stated this place was really good. It did not live up to the hype. 2/10 recommend.
google avatar

Tanner R.

Yelp
Cool spot right in the middle of everything in Austin. We went a bit early and they were pretty dead. Maybe 3 or 4 tables with people and that was it. Even with that our service was not great. The waitress was super nice when she was around, but then she'd disappear for 20 minutes at a time......I got the fish and chips and they were alright.....Nothing special, and I would order something else if I went back. I also got the Eureka Sour. It was a decent Whiskey Sour, but I prefer mine with a rye whiskey and this one lacked that punch for sure. We ordered a side of the Sweet Potato fries for the table, and that was for sure the best thing I tried. They were Bussin! Overall, Idt I'd roll back here personally.
google avatar

Tobi O.

Yelp
The burgers were SO good! We went for lunch, so there was no live music that other reviewers have mentioned. Not sure if they were short-staffed or that's just how they operate during lunch hours, but our server also was working the bar for a bit. Our service didn't suffer thankfully, but it may have affected dining parties around us. It's not a huge restaurant, but they have different types of tables/seating. There are regular-height tables, large booths, and higher-height tables as well. Would absolutely visit again and try another burger from the menu!

Lisa A.

Yelp
Great food and service! This was my second visit and I enjoyed it very much. I had the steak and it was excellent
google avatar

Christina H.

Yelp
Welcome to my favorite place to sit down and grab a savory burger. A few pro tips: I would suggest coming during their "Hoppy Hour" as they actually have a really good one. Also, download their app! I was able to get a delicious Mac N Cheese Ball appetizer FOR FREE! & yes, please order this one... you won't regret it. I ordered the Truffle Cheese Fries & the Double Smash Burger, which were both extraordinary. 10/10 would order again! If you have never had a smash burger, it's a style where they actually flatten the patty to make it more crispy. For drinks: highly recommend either the Wild Child (vodka-based) &/or the Industry Margarita (tequila-based), which are both on the Hoppy Hour menu.

Alexa S.

Yelp
The drink menu selection is awesome. They have tons of options. The fried pickles were really good, but the street corn was underwhelming. The burgers were pretty good but left something to be desired in terms of flavor. We enjoyed the fries which had nice crispiness. The servers were really nice and did a good job despite how busy it was.
google avatar

Sylvia R.

Yelp
While visiting downtown Austin, TX, hubby and I chose to have an early dinner at this establishment. The bison burger was cooked to perfection. Our server, Lily (who's a trainer at the restaurant) was delightful, just like her name. She was attentive and just a breath of fresh air. All servers need to follow a page from her book of knowledge. If you're lucky to be seated in her section, you won't be disappointed. She's knowledgeable about the menu and has great recommendations for activities to do in the area while visiting this great city. I highly suggest you stop by for a bite to eat.

Jason W.

Yelp
Our server was fantastic. And the burgers are delicious. Trust me, get the truffle fries.

Emma P.

Yelp
It was my first time visiting this establishment during my trip to Austin, Texas. At first, entering the restaurant has a modern twist on an old western saloon bit, incorporating a modern touch to its interior. The servers were delightful and swift. As a party of three, we received our food and drinks faster than average for a sit-in restaurant. (very nice!) We had come in to eat lunch, so we didn't order much. Some of their "Crispy Glazed Brussels Sprouts" as an appetizer, "Eureka! American", and "Napa Chicken Sandwich". One thing I like that no people like is any form of charmlamized or seasonal Brussels sprouts, which I was excited to see on the menu. Not many restaurants can master the proper texture for the vegetables. I ate those things as if they were chips. They were nicely cooked and soft to chew into, yet "crispy," as the name states. All of them were average other than the appetizer and nothing too special but a nice place to get yourself stuffed.
google avatar

Kimberly K.

Yelp
Great place for burgers and other comfort food. The service was good and the restaurant is spacious. The food was delish and plentiful. The pork ribs were tasty and you can choose from a tangy or spicy bbq sauce

Yelp
Yasssssss! Food was sooooo good. The fries are a must. I loved every bit of my meal to include the drinks we got. The restaurant was really nice inside and my bartender was just simply great. Everything was fantastic here I will return whenever I'm in Austin.
