Eureka! to Bring Burgers and Beers to Carlsbad | Eater San Diego

"Scheduled to debut on April 29 in the Carlsbad neighborhood of Bressi Ranch, the 5,000-square-foot Eureka! outpost will seat 184 diners and include a bar fronted by green glazed tiles and a patio with an outdoor fireplace. Building on the popularity of its bustling Westfield UTC and San Diego State University campus locations, it's known for decadent burgers such as the Bone Marrow Burger with shiitake bone marrow butter and the Fresno Fig Burger with fig marmalade, melted goat cheese and bacon; it also offers beer-friendly snacks like Lollipop Corn Dogs and Mac N’ Cheese Balls and serves weekend brunch from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Beverages are a big focus, with 30 taps of local beer, cocktails, and an impressive spirits collection of more than 40 small-batch whiskeys including hard-to-get bottles like Pappy Van Winkle. The Carlsbad location will be open Monday–Wednesday 11 a.m.–11 p.m., Thursday–Friday 11 a.m.–midnight, Saturday 10 a.m.–midnight and Sunday 10 a.m.–11 p.m., and will feature a daily happy hour, weekend brunch and live music on Thursdays." - Candice Woo

The staff was very friendly and awesome. Tons of parking and the restaurant was very clean. My son had the burger and said it was okay. He said he expected better. I had the salmon and it was good. My other son had the fish & chips. He liked it. The drinks I would say are on the higher end of pricing. I had the Expresso Martini. I definitely had better. It was on the okay side. I rate my overall experience 4 out of 5.

First time going to Eureka, I was pleasantly surprised by the atmosphere and environment. It was raining when we went but that was fun as the inside is great and outside has fire heated areas. The service was very good and quick, we were helped right away and were able to order very easily. They have a wide variety of beers and other drinks. The appetizers are very worth it and nice to share. I don’t usually get a chicken sandwhich but this place has an amazing one. Really well cooked and seasoned, great sauce as well. My three friends all loved what they got, the Eureka burger, philly cheesesteak and the protein bowl. We had gone after work and it was a very nice calm environment to debrief and relax. Many families around too, it’s a great place all around. Overall I highly recommend checking it out, first and definitely not my last time eating here!

Large work group function. One of our team members had a food allergy. The staff did an amazing job to ensure the order was accurate. All the meals were very good- spicy chicken. Salmon. Fish n chips. The beer selection was really nice!

We came in for lunch on a Saturday. No wait. We tried the mimosa flight, chx lettuce wraps, bone in wings and Cobb salad wrap. Service was great. Parking lot on site and had a huge whiskey menu.

Hidden gem in Bressi Ranch! Delicious happy hour! The steak on the nachos was perfectly flavorful and tender! The Mac & cheese bites and truffle cheese fries were delectable! Highly recommend!

Google
Wonderful atmosphere and server. We came for my son’s birthday… he chose it because he loves their fries and burgers. The server was amazing and so engaging and attentive. The food is the best. We love eating her. Truffle fries are the best I’ve ever had! Loved my Fresno fig burger as well. Thanks for a wonderful experience.

Google
Love coming to the spot in Bessie Ranch. They have a great happy hour Monday through Friday 3 to 6 and then nine to close and their cocktails are always good. They have the old fashion on special for under $10, which is always a win in my book, and I've never had a bad meal here. They're smashed burger and steak salad are some of my favorites. But they have a great apps like Rachel sprouts as well. Nice atmosphere and during happy hour. There's a lot of people that work in the area that come here. There's also a nice little turf area out front. In case you do bring kiddos with you.

Google
Had a business lunch here last week. The patio seating is fantastic, great atmosphere. I had a salad where I asked that the blue cheese be substituted out and replaced with goats cheese. They said no problem, but then didn’t do it. I was engaged in discussion and didn’t notice it until our server left, had to find someone to fix it. Other than that, good food, good experience.

Yelp
I just wanted to write a short update to my review from last year. Their Spicy Fried Chicken Sandwich is still my favorite anywhere, but I recently tried their Double Smash Burger (with added bacon) and it was delicious! I had mine with the onion rings instead of the fries and those were really crispy and also excellent. My wife tried the Fresno Fig Burger for the first time, and loved her dish as well. My wife also tried a seasonal drink special they had which was a Gingerbread Man Old Fashioned, and she found it surprisingly good. They even made the ice cube it it shaped like a Gingerbread Man which was a neat extra touch. We usually also lover their outdoor patio area when it's nice outside. It's very casual and is also dog friendly, and family friendly. Service is also still always excellent there!

Yelp
I was craving burgers in North County and came with a big group of 8. We called ahead around 10 am to reserve a table same day at 12:00 pm and they had our table ready when we arrived - no wait. Service was great from the get-go. As soon as we walked in we were greeted warmly by the two hostesses. Our server was attentive and efficient. She refilled our drinks without us asking and brought new water pitchers regularly. I ordered a BBQ Bacon burger ($18.50) which came with shoestring onions, bacon, cheddar, and beer bbq sauce and fries on the side. Burger was juicy and deliciously flavored although my bun was slightly soggy. Overall this was a solid burgers experience!

Yelp
Eureka very close to lego land and hotels nearby. Situated in a nice complex with outdoor and indoor seating. Large open space with plenty of tables to accommodate any party size. Service was very nice with our waitress who was very kind and easy person to talk . She was so cool and accommodating. Very pleased with service. The food was very good everyone in out party enjoyed the food. I ordered the bbq bacon burger well done patty and it was delicious and paired with their house fries was even better. My wife enjoyed her eureka burger and side of street corn. My daughter had their chicken bites and fries. She actually ate most of her chicken bites and shared them with our friend's kids. Which is a big plus as they can be a bit picky. All in all had a very good time and experience at eureka and the food was fantastic along with the service. Can definitely see us meeting here again as a group to enjoy the food and times here. Definitely recommend if you are in the area to check Eureka out.

Yelp
Updating this review and I'm still giving them 5 stars! The Great - The food was excellent. The Good - The cocktail selection and quality were also very good! The Bad - The server was very nice, but might have been new. We ordered a beer from our server, then several people asked if we wanted another beer. We said our server already took care of it. She disappeared for a long time. Eventually we got the beer, but that was odd. The Ugly - NA

Yelp
Loved this place for years! They always have a great selection of cocktails, wines, and beer. During my recent visit I had the big island daiquiri and it was delectable! Not overly sweet but a great blend of rum and Ube. Couldn't ask for anything better. While I've always had great service here, our recent server was extremely kind and attentive. She also gave great recs! I ended up ordering the spicy chicken sandwich and my husband had the jalapeño egg burger. We did start out with their delicious truffle fries. They did pair the fries with their white truffle cheese sauce. It was a combo made in heaven. I really enjoyed my spicy chicken sandwich. Definitely wasn't too spicy or anything just pretty good. My husband was in love with his jalapeño egg burger. I have to say it was a great combo for a burger. I love going back to explore their delicious menu!

Yelp
Love this place for its vibe and late night food selection. Where I live, there's not that many late night bars. This is a good place to bring familes and friends for a quick bite and drinks!

Yelp
Completely obsessed with this tucked away gem. You can see the name from Palomar road but you have to turn in to find it. The inside is adorable and the outside is super chill! Lots of great seating. Their fried pickles and dip, the BEST!! Their chicken sandwich is also amazing. All kids meals come with an appetizer of fruit and veggies.. so cool right?! And you can get a pitcher of drinks, I recommend the watermelon one!
google avatar

Yelp
The truffle cheese fries (which I got as a side) ended up being the best part of the meal--super flavorful and definitely worth ordering on their own. Unfortunately, the Napa chicken sandwich was underwhelming. The chicken itself lacked flavor and the bread was so heavy it overpowered everything else. I also ordered sweet potato fries, but they came out way too dark and almost overcooked . Overall, the food was pretty mediocre. On the plus side, service was quick and they do have a solid variety of craft beers to choose from, which might make it a better spot for drinks than for the food.

Yelp
Great food Awesome ambiance Best cocktails and whiskey selections Great food Out of town, found this place and will be back again and again

Yelp
Met a friend for lunch and we shared the fried pickles, they are delicious! He had the black and blue burger and it was messy but delicious. I had the bbq burger and wolfed it down. Will be bringing my family here soon to enjoy some other treats. Forgot to take pics. Sorry! Server was attentive and friendly and the atmosphere was really nice.

Yelp
Came on a Friday night at 5:45ish. Was told it would be a 25 minute wait, so we got our kids some pizza from next door. We got a text pretty quickly that our table was ready. We ordered sprites for the kids, a beer for the hubby, and a wild child cocktail for myself. We also ordered fried pickles. The fried pickles came out almost immediately. About 2 minutes. They were pretty salty, but the family ate all of them. The adult drinks came out WAY before the sprites. We had to ask our waiter where the kid's drinks were because they kept complaining about how thirsty they were. The wild child drink was very tasty. For our entrees we ordered the eureka burger and the black and blue burger. The fries were super salty and we did not finish them. Both burgers were really good, but they took 40 minutes to come out. I know because I received a text right as I was ordering and checked my watch when the food finally came out. I feel like 40 minutes is way too long to wait for a burger. I'm glad my kids ate already or they would have been having a fit! Overall, the burger and drinks were good. The fried pickles and fries were too salty and the food took way too long to come out. I prefer the Claremont location

Yelp
I stopped by with a friend for happy hour on a tuesday afternoon and we both got 2 beers and some food. She got the nachos and I got fried pickles which were the best i've had they were hot and crispy! The bartender was very attentive and helpful. I would deff recommend this place to anyone looking for a nice happy hour spot!

Yelp
Came here a few times. The food and service were always good. The drinks here are pretty good and have a good selection. The ambiance is nice. Right by the corner and fire pits all over.

Yelp
I recently visited Eureka! in Carlsbad. While the vibe of the place was fantastic, I was a tad disappointed in the appetizer serving sizes. The energy is amazing--- you can see the crowds sitting outside with "campfire" ambiance. The interior is dim (which I like) and decor is minimalist with a woodsy feel. I did have a bit of a challenge with the loud music. The volume was so high that it made it tough to have a conversation with the waitress (which caused a couple orders were missed) which took away from the overall dining experience. The waitress was superb apologetic that she swung by more often to recheck on us. That said, the food was definitely a highlight. The burger selection was creative and flavorful. The four salads options solid to please everyone. It's a great spot if you're looking for good food and a lively atmosphere, but be prepared for a bit of noise. We ordered a couple salads to share - Steak and Seared Ahi. Both were delicious. The only complaint on the Grilled Broccolini was that the portion was too, too small. We got 6 stems of broccolini. My favorite were truffles fries and mac-and-cheese fried balls. There is a kick (thinks there's a bits of jalapeño) in those mac and cheese. Skip the desserts --the bourbon chocolate and carrot cake was not good. Pricey for small portion, too.

Nandita B.

Yelp
We came here to celebrate two very special birthdays - my son and grandpa and spent a significant amount, so we expected at least the basics of good service. Unfortunately, even after reminding the staff and server 2-3 times about the celebration, no candles were brought out, and the dessert was served on a cluttered table without clearing our dishes. The food itself was ok , but the service truly took away from the experience. When you choose a place for a special occasion, the little touches matter -- and those were completely missed here. Hoping the restaurant pays more attention to hospitality in the future. A Fat tip was expected which we still generously tipped . Very disappointed.

Yelp
Eureka! is a casual and swanky New American restaurant. The staff is fantastic. They offer happy hour deals as well. Their menu offers unique and inventive flavor combinations. The signature cocktails feel elevated and thoughtful. The rotating beer and whisky menu always have exciting features. I recommended: - Nachos with Chicken - Crispy Glazed Brussels Sprouts - Wild Child

T G.

Yelp
Food: The French fries were cold. The cheesesteak sandwich meat was soooo salty, it was almost inedible. The Caesar salad was great. The steak with chimichurri was great. The burgers were good. Brussels Sprouts really good as always, but not very hot when they came out. Service: very sweet waitress, but she forgot to bring a few things that we'd asked for, and we had to ask more than once for a few things. Ambiance: nice layout. Very loud when the restaurant is full. Hard to hear people across the table if you have a larger party.

Yelp
Had a great experience with some friends over Thanksgiving break! Food was delicious, came out promptly, and our server Gabby was so kind and attentive! She gave great food and drink recommendations! We will be back!

always a great time at Eureka, the food is amazing and it has a nice atmosphere and ambience

Yelp
Place has an amazing vibe and i ordered the bacon burger with wagyu and it was delicious until about the time i got home and it all came back up. This place gave me food poisoning so bad i couldn't eat for a week.

Yelp
I came in after a few years and the food was still amazing, the service was great and the atmosphere is always chill. They have a new signature drink called the Dragon Fruit Mojito. The presentation was beautiful and it was incredible (even the piece of dragon fruit that was on the side of the glass ). Always a fan of the Mac & cheese balls and the Bourbon Barrel Cake (hits the spot every time). Job well done bartender and chef and thanks to our lovely waitress (sorry I forgot her name).

Yelp
First visit and already impressed! Came here on Mother's Day at 1:00 PM with a party of 7 (with reservations) and had zero issues. It was my wife's 50th time visiting and she's celebrated birthday or after work event here before, and now I understand why! Everyone in our group loved their food, especially the kids. The bison burger and Brussels sprouts were the standout for me--absolutely delicious. The outdoor area was perfect--great space for the kids to run around and the little signs and decor added a charming touch. It was a beautiful and memorable Mother's Day experience all around. Branded resturant but you couldn't tell because had homie but corporate feel. Highly recommended, will definitely be back!

Yelp
Mia- you nailed it!! Thank you for your amazing service. All of your recommendations were spot on! The Dorito shishito peppers were soo good. The fish n chips were the best we've had in years. And I must bow to your opinion of the carrot cake - definitely gives mine a run for its money! Our next trip to San Diego will absolutely involve a trip to Eureka!

Yelp
Super family friendly and delicious food! The atmosphere and ambiance is modern and fun. The food and drinks were great. Our 3 year old had a great time and was very happy with the children's cheese burger and fries. Highly recommend the spicy chicken sandwich. Also one of the best whiskey sours I've had at a restaurant. Servers were friendly and great with the kids running around.
google avatar

Denise K.

Yelp
This is a great location, near Bressi Ranch and Palomar Airport. It seems a lot of local business people come for lunch here, so might want to make a reservation if you want a specific outside area. The night light for us was the juicy burgers that were prepared well, and the fries delicious. I also ordered a peach sangria, so refreshing for a hot afternoon. Our server Haley was super helpful with the menu, and made some good suggestions for us. We will try it again for dinner, as the Salmon dinner looked like something to try. If you love beer, they have a huge selection to choose from. Fun spot, we loved it.
google avatar

Erin D.

Yelp
Love this place! Great ambience, drinks, and food. Dog friendly and kid friendly. My 8.5 year old always orders their adult size steak. I am sampling my way thru their menu and can't pick a fave. It's all good from their apps, drinks and entrees both non alcoholic and with adult beverages you really can't pick wrong here.
google avatar

Allyson D.

Yelp
Enjoyed Happy hour with a friend. My friend and I ordered drinks, truffle parmesan fries, and vegetarian nachos. Service was nice. We had a lady walk by before happy hour ended to ask if we wanted another drink. The food was good too. I enjoyed the flavor on the nachos with the salsa and fresh chiles. It was a little too dark inside the restaurant for me as soon as I walked in around 5 pm, but my eyes adjusted.
google avatar

Shireen J.

Yelp
The food is quite amazing. The 28-day bone marrow burger is by far the most amazing thing I've consumed. The drink menu is delightful they have some delicious non-alcoholic drinks as well. Highly recommend
google avatar

Brittany B.

Yelp
Very fun space!! It has a great energy. Both inside and outside seating-- open air. Service was friendly! Food was very good! We got burgers and they were both cooked to our liking. The side choices are elite-- we subbed for sweet potato fries, mac and cheese balls, and street corn.

Sudu O.

Yelp
I had such a delightful experience at this location with Ashley as my server. Phenomenal attentiveness and absolutely amazing customer service skills. Ashley was knowledgeable and very kind throughout my time and the food was delicious!! Highly recommend.
google avatar

Sarah G.

Yelp
This location is often visited by my coworkers and I due to the proximity to our office. We always come back because the food is great and the people are always kind to us. I tend to eat their poke stack or ahi salad when Im there because it's perfect every-time. The salad is a bit on the smaller side but I still enjoy it with a side of fries. It can get very busy during lunch time BUT most of the time you can walk in and get a table no problem.
google avatar

Marissa G.

Yelp
First time here, I went after work and it was happy hour. I sat at the bar and the bartender was very attentive even with how busy it was. Omg the Ahi Poke Stack was amazing! So fresh! So flavorful . Definitely coming back here and often!
google avatar

Jen K.

Yelp
The Carlsbad Eureka is the best location! It's in a very non traditional place which I love. Super local vibe. The service is always top notch (Mia is AWESOME!), the outdoor space for kids and dogs is chill and open, and the food never disappoints. It's been the perfect place to train my dog how to behave in public establishments. And their new menu is fire! Definitely get the pretzel bites! And ahi poke. And bone marrow burger. The only thing I'll say is that online the al pastor tacos (new) are made with mahi, but it's actually cod. I only bring this up because I don't like cod. So happy this gets to be a local go-to spot for us.

Yelp
So I've been on the hunt to find the BEST Fish and Chips in North San Diego and I was totally bummed to discover that my beloved Ebullition in Bressi Ranch had closed for business earlier his year. Suddenly I looked around the block and saw the sign for Eureka, wondered if they had Fish and Chips, and EUREKA, and was stoked to see that they did! A lot of places "say" they can make a killer and authentic Fish and Chips, but can they really? I can't begin to tell you how many times I've gotten soggy batter, tiny, limp pieces of fish, and cold chips (fries). Ebullition's Fish and Chips was beyond perfect so I crossed my fingers and placed my order with Eureka and I was gobsmaked how incredibly GREAT theirs is! I seriously have never tasted a batter that was so darn crispy! The portions of fish were generous and the fries were delectable. I still can't get over how crunchy the fish was. Eureka will now be my go-to Fish and Chips place! An honorable mention also goes to their truly brilliant Veggie Beet Burger. I've never had a red colored burger before and, at first glance, I thought it was raw beef, not beets, ROFL! The flavors were totally innovative and fresh and it has to also be one of the very BEST Veggie Burgers in the area too!! Suffice it to say that, with Eureka, I've struck GOLD!

Yelp
First thing we asked our server Kate, when is this place was open to business? Six years already, and we didn't know about it? Nice place, with both inside and outside seating (dog friendly outside), the food is good, we ordered Al Pastor Fish Tacos with house salad (we didn't know that it's extra $3). One smart move, we asked to bring the source (which was claimed not to be spicy) on the side. It was really spicy for our taste. My boss ordered her favorite cheese burger, called American and she loved it, also with house salad. Our server Kate got a really cheerful disposition, she was a pleasure to deal with. I think we were even visited once by a manager , asking about service and food. My NJ son and daughter-in-law were really impressed with this place, welcome back to California! One more thing to improve - the chairs around the tables are extremely uncomfortable to sit on.

Nancy F.

Yelp
Stopped by 8:40pm on a Thursday place looked real welcoming ; hostess sat us down ; Waited 15 minutes not a single waiter stopped by to offer drinks or anything; my party of 4 decided to leave; I told the hostess and a waiter that we had waited for 15 minutes and no one has checked up on us and the waiters reply was "ok" No apologies or anything; Screw this kind of service; I was super hungry but we will not come back.
google avatar

Adrianne B.

Yelp
Used to eat here with the family all the time. It was the spot where everyone could get their fix. As a vegetarian, mine was the beet burger. It was the best veggie burger in north county. Sadly they took it off the menu. The veggie burger they have is Ok but doesn't come close. We haven't been back much since the menu changes. Hoping they realize what a draw the beet burger is.
google avatar

Polyphemus S.

Yelp
Ambiance was really nice. Away from the crowds, easy parking, and friendly staff. The Caesar salad with chicken on it could have been much more flavorful. The chicken was very Bland and the Caesar salad dressing had little flavor. That being said they're hamburgers were incredible. He's happy hour Burger which is on their normal menu with nice and thick and flavorful. I wish I had gotten that. Burger was $13 during the happy hour and I believe the salad was around 19 to $20. Kids mac and cheese was small but their kids cheeseburger came with fries and was sufficient size. The kids meals did come with drinks which was a plus. The one thing I didn't like was the payment at the table with only three options for tips starting at elevated values vs historical tip ranges.
google avatar

Jovi G.

Yelp
Great food, we had wings and the truffle fries. YUM. Great service. Drinks are good too! We sat at the bar and it was a great time. Really cool spot.
google avatar

kevin a.

Yelp
I am updating my review after reading the customer service response. Bottom line though is they just need to NOT collect payment this way. Until they change that I will continue to stand by the one star review. Hovering over you while you pay on the little machine is simply not acceptable.
google avatar

Yelp
We had a small party of 3, this time I was in a bit of a hurry so I did not take photos of the meal. It was busy and loud but we were seated quickly, the waiter arrived right away and got us oriented. We ordered Burgers, and an appetizer. The food arrived quickly, again it was very busy. But service was excellent. We were on a business trip or I'd say we would be regulars. Great first experience Thank you!

Aubuchon H.

Yelp
I came in this weekend with a party of 3, my wife and daughter. I have to say, the ambience itself is exceptional. Our server Evelyn was extremely personable and had our table laughing + made us feel beautifully welcomed. Another server delivering drinks and food named Lauren was super sweet and answered all of our questions. The manager Ashley made sure everything was perfect and reassured us that if we needed anything we could just ask for her! I am pleased to say my family and I will be regulars and LOVE this place
google avatar

Danielle V.

Yelp
Great ambience and patio setting. There is a large fire pit you can sit by and grass area for kids to play so you can enjoy a meal in peace! I got the wings and Mac and cheese bites. Both were delicious but the Mac and cheese was so creamy and delicious!! My family enjoyed their meals as well! I've shared pictures.

Rebecca R.

Yelp
The protein bowl with added salmon is the best mediterranean-styled bowl I have ever eaten. I have come into this place many times for it. However I was dismayed today that I used the restroom there and both soap dispensers were empty as well as someone had placed a bottle of watered-down dish soap on the counter in bathroom, yet you cannot even get it to pump. I also saw an employee walking out of there so they must also use this restroom before and during their shift (for the ladies). DO BETTER before someone gets sick please. Gross.
google avatar

Jose G.

Yelp
Was looking for dinner after Legoland and just happened to stumble across this place which ended up being pretty decent! I don't think it entirely screamed kid-friendly, but it was enough for our 3 year old to hang out... we ordered a kids mac and cheese, fish and chips and a double smash burger... all of which were delish! The fish had a light crisp to them which is always what I'm looking for... service was average for a not so busy evening, but not horrible... Overall, I left satisfied and it didn't break the bank... just wish they would've had a little froyo shop or something in the area to really finish off the center

Yelp
I thought I wrote a review for Eureka! . If not here you go.... I come to this restaurant every Tuesday night with my friend and we have a glass of wine. Tuesdays wine is half price all day. I love their fig burger. It is the best employees are very helpful and kind.

Yelp
Best service ever! Thank you Emily Good also was great Will recommend this place And will come back many times

Yelp
We have been coming to Eureka since 2021. We would get their amazing burgers, the charcoal lemonade, and their bourbon cake. We had couple incidents where we have been ignored after being sat at our table. We witnessed without a doubt racism here. It's definitely sad but how do you explain when the staff knows you're sat, ignores your table, makes eye contact, they don't greet you, it's not busy, helps others before you (others that don't look like you). This has happened multiple times and not only to us but my cousins. They definitely don't care for our business. Please take your money elsewhere. Here are couple restaurants that would love our business with better food and great service!! 1. Ember & Rye 2. Nicks on State 3. Campfire
