Great location in North Beach, very central and lots of restaurants and public transport nearby. |Rooms were clean. However, as advertised no air con so were very stuffy. Street noise is super loud, I recommend ear plugs. The hotel overall needs a good scrub and vaccum. Not very well maintained. No refrigerator in room. The female bathroom door handles were broken. Overall, wasn’t a bad stay due to the location and we weren’t in the hotel often, decent price for the area.

This is one of the best budget hotels I've stayed in. They upgraded me at check-in. The staff was really nice. It's an older hotel but the room is upgraded. It's totally clean, the bed is super-comfortable. There's a 40 inch flat screen with all the Dish channels, microwave and fridge. The location is perfect. It's right in the heart of North Beach. There's a great pizzeria and a taqueria next door as well as the famous "The Saloon". The value is tremendous!

Located around Chinatown and nearby Transamerica pyramid which is a good tall visible landmark to locate the hotel. Unfortunately, the positive stopped here. The hallway smelled funky and building was rundown. Room was small and poorly ventilated with no AC unit and window which opened to enclosed walls - if you managed to open it - as we had to use water bottle to keep our window opened. Also keep in mind if you have big luggage as there's no lift, good luck if your room is on the higher floor. Have to walk up quite a staircase to the check-in counter.

you obviously get what you pay for but be aware the manager is a damn liar. I used my credit card as a security deposit and was told I'd receive my money in 1 hour-1 business day. re-called after the 1 business day then was told I'd receive it in 5-7 days now. Next the room smelled like cigarettes and there's also no shower in your room you have to shower in the main bathroom like what... this isn't a camping trip.

Location, location, location!! You cannot beat the value if you’re just looking for a great, safe spot to rest your head in between seeing the sights in the City. Very spacious rooms with fridges and microwaves. If you don’t mind sharing a bathroom then you really can’t beat this place all-around especially if you don’t need parking.

Stayed two nights in a room with bath ensuite. Clean and quiet. Not a hotel you book to enjoy the room but rather affordable for the location. Staff was pleasant and helpful

The hotel itself is old and rundown, smells sooo bad and more smells come from ventilation in the bathroom constantly. The furniture shown on the photos was not present in our room: no chair, no any shelf or even one simple hanger to put jackets. No trash bins)) And it is adjacent to strip club, so in the evening there is music coming from there. We booked last minute and we needed a stay at +/- this area but at the end we regretted about it a lot.

Has the worst sanitation I’ve seen thus far! I spend most of the night itching from the disgusting bed sheets, upon removing the covers in room 106 I saw that the entire lower cover was coated in what looked like human skin flaked and scabs. If I ever return i will be the pickiest guest anyone has ever seen! If the company would contact me i would probably ask for a refund! Disgusting, no ac, no housekeeping and it’s located right next to an area that frequently sets off fireworks! No sleep acquired in dreamland!

Pros: one of the cheapest in SF, good location right in the middle of china town, hot water in the shower, friendly management, safety of a lock to get into building, will hold your baggage for you, functional TV, microwave, sink, and fridge in room Cons: literally right above a strip club, SUPER noisy at night and lots of sketchy people around, SUPER thin sheets that leave you so cold, super cheap looking rooms, weird liquid coming out of fridge, TV only shows early 2000s reruns, vague smell of weed in hallways, restrooms only have 2 toilets and 2 showers per hallway If you're broke college kids like us, then stay here for a few days and you'll be fine If you have some money to get a nicer, more expensive hotel, then please do!

Would give this zero if I could. Very sketchy hotel, it felt unsafe. The Room didn't look like the photos and the TV didn't work. Me: My comforter had multiple cigarette burn holes in it. Reception: Yeah, some of them are like that. Spend the extra $$ to stay anywhere else.

The prices are very cheap for San Francisco. The hotel is between a strip club and a Mexican fast food place. A single sheet is what you get for sleeping. Very noisy. Go in with very low expectations and you won't be disappointed.

the Europa Hotel is excellent. I have stayed in many SF hotels and the staff at the front desk here is way nicer and professional than any other I have experienced in my many years of staying in SF Hotels.is as good as it gets...unless you want to pay outrageous prices for a room for the night. I feel safe when I stay at the Europa Hotel. Very Comfortable. Clean. Wood floor in my room and nice views.Good food is available just a few steps away.Historic Italian neighborhood.Chinatown starts just a block away. Also I get a good sleep here as it is peaceful neighborhood.

I didnt know motels had rooms with no bathrooms. Apparently that's a real thing. I paid $20 extra for my own bathroom, totally worth it. 100%. I also want to know where my blanket is? WTF If the room had a blanket, or even two sheets that could stuff all my clothes in between, then I would give 3 stars but honestly what the actual f*ck.

THE ABSOLOUTE WORST! This place is the absolute worst! Whole stay was a nightmare...for 90$ you find for 10-20 dollars more other decent places on Hotel Tonight but this one wasnt even worse 10$. I can just recommend anyone who has a little common sense NOT BOOK THIS. - No elevator for suitcase - The smell - DISGUSTING and dirty..really no words for this..i prefered also not to shower since the bathroom smelled like pie and looked so dirty - The location: Right on top of bars, very loud street...sleepless nights guaranteed.. INCREDIBLY loud.... and when you keep window close no AC will enter and its even worse - The bed : I was sleeping on top of id even know what it was...it felt like the cheapest and worst matrass i have ever been on... every beachequipment thicker blanket would do a better job - No AC as mentioned above.... its practically fine in San fran but not with the location of hotel where you want to have window close in order to survive the night - Fridge : Yes there is a mini fridge but mine came with hairs. Total review: DONT EVEN THINK OF BOOKING!!!! There is this Hotel North a few blocks down which was obviously booked. The rooms are smaller but its nice and clean, half of the price!! quite and bathroom very clean too and they have elevator Please do not book Hotel Europa. For me it was the worst hotel I have ever been in. Its not even worth the name hotel

Pay the extra money for a different place !!! We booked a queen bed and we got a double and when I asked if I could be moved I was told there are no queen bedrooms ready yet - I could stand in the hallway for 20 minutes and wait. However, the cleaning crew had already been through all the rooms and I was just being played. In the shared bathroom when the toilet flushed water leaked out at the base all over the floor. Girls hold your pants up off the floor! And it smells like cat pee and mildew. The trash cans in each stall for sanitary napkins had no liners. Actually no trashcan had a liner. The box spring was covered with a flat sheet and tied on the corner together to hold it tight with a rope and duct tape - this rigging stuck out like a sore thumb. Couldn't they at least hid it behind the bed?? And here's the best one there was no fan or air conditioning not even something to move the air with. No screen on the window that we had to have cracked for a little bit of air when the night sounds from everybody on the street drag racing kept us up. I think I saw them answer the phone once but when I actually called there was never an answer. Of course no elevator and one flight a very steep stairs but I actually wasn't bothered by that or at least that was the least issue. Pay the extra money and go somewhere else! !!!!

I stayed her on a weekend, the staff was nice, the view was great, room was not dirty but not clean. Now if you want come to relax and get sleep, not in this room. I was situated on the second floor directly over a gentleman's club, I thought by closing the window it would muffle the sounds ...but it literally enhanced the sounds as lied in bed lip-syncing all the 90s hip hop songs until 2 am. Now I love nightlife and all but this crowd was getting hyphy in the intersection directly below my room, as I was listening to the crowds cheering on street bikers doing donuts, some bro was yelling at someone to get out of his EFFN face within five-seconds which turned into minutes. Overall it's the SF experience but like I mentioned if you're coming to relax and get rest...this is not the place. You get what you pay for

Be fair warned... Extremely cheap for Downtown SF but you get what you pay for. We really wanted to stay in DTSF. I only read Yelp reviews after someone already booked the room. I didn't know what to expect until we found the place. There are at least four strip clubs/gentlemen clubs to the left and right of this place. The walls and floor shakes from the music and in between songs the emcee's voice projects into the room more pronouncedly. It was very hard for me to get to sleep and then stay asleep because every so often, a song or voice of the emcee would awaken me plus light from the luminous neon sign for one of the strip clubs shines through the sheer drapes. Some of these clubs close @ 2:00 AM and the other half closes @ 4:00 AM. If you want to relax and sleep in peace, this is not the place for you. If you are a deep sleeper and can sleep through a dog barking, cars honking, sirens ringing, people honking, drunk people yelling AND you want to save $$$ and don't mind some sketchiness, then yes, yes this is for you. THERE ARE NO TOILETS/SHOWERS in the room, it's in the hallway. Go figure, it was like stepping into a bath house, the floor was wet all over and the air was hot, humid, and musty. I guess people do take a shower here. In the room, there is also no AC or heater. Hope you don't get too cold or too hot here. It's 60 degrees outside and it is hot in this room, we might be getting its warmth from the neon lights outside our windows. So there you have it, as detailed as I can be. Pros: CHEAP and located in DTSF, walkable distance to Chinatown, local bars and good eateries. Cons:.... read above. Update: it's 2am, the club next to us seems to have toned down the music and I haven't heard the emcee, it's a bit more toned down now. I can finally sleep. The loudness is much more endurable. SUGGESTION: go out and party til 2 or bring sound canceling headphones or earplugs, if you do decide to stay here and bring shower slippers if your really need to shower and your own towels, the ones here are dinky.

Worst hotel i have ever been too, the pictures they post online are not even what the room looks like. I took my son of 3 months old thinking it was a decent hotel and the cables were out of the wall, not even cover. Theres a strip club next to it to top it off & theres no AC. The sheets had dirt, like they didnt change them. The worst thing is that they are posting false advertisent. It was really a bad experienced for us.

BED BUG ALERT! My brother came home after spending a night here last night. Within hours of his return, bites emerged all over his arms and legs. It's been about 5 hours, and I counted 21 bites around his neck area alone. Apparently, his gf was reading him the top review on this place mentioning bedbugs, and he thought that it was never going to be this bad. DUMBASS. And you asked me why I detest cheap sketchy hotels so much. -_- He booked his visit through Expedia. REMEMBER large booking agents like Expedia MAY seem credible, but do your research because this kind of shit happens. Ugh. This reminds me of the bedbug attack I've had 4 years ago from a San Diego Super 5 chain. I FEEL ITCHY JUST BY LOOKING AT HIM!!! GET THE HELL AWAY FROM THIS PLACE!

Check-in was painless. We got a great price off Kayak. The guy at the desk was very nice. It was generally very quiet from the room despite being in a bustling area. The room was small, but I expected that, with convenient access to the restrooms in the hall. It looks a little run-down, but honestly better than I was expecting. Overall, it was actually very clean. I love the area it's in, right by Chinatown and across the street from City Lights Bookstore. There is tons of food nearby like pizza, Mexican, Chinese... and then there's Sam's just across the street, which has cheap, but delicious, food.

Worst Motel Ever. Yes motel and not hotel, don't be fooled by the name. The place isn't that hard to find, it's right across Chinatown and in between a strip club and a bar. If you are carrying large and heavy luggages like I did, good luck carrying that up the stairs. They don't have a elevator and their workers aren't willing to help you carry them. We booked our room from Expedia. They don't charge you on the site, so you pay at the counter. The total came out to $62.47. Gave the guy $63, never gave me back the change...it was fine, only a couple of cents. Just don't say you are coming back with the change... Anyways, the room we got didn't have a bathroom/restroom...the restroom/bathroom was legitly on the opposite side of the hall. We had to share it with the other people on the floor. Felt like I was in a hostel instead of motel. Not other that, the cleaning lady who cleans the place doesn't wash her hands after using the restroom. It wasn't just her, other residents didn't wash their hands either. I felt very disgusted. Also walking down that hallway made me felt uneasy, not safe for a girl to walk in the middle of the night. As for the bedroom itself, no ventilation. It was so hot & humid in there, being outside in the hallway was cooler then being coped up in the room. We couldn't even open up the window because it was bolted down. As for the bed. It was okay. The blanket was hella dirty (with dark brown spots on the sheet). We just use the white sheets since those look cleaner. As for the bed bugs, we didn't have any, but we did have like fruit flies in our room. Which was really annoying when you are trying to sleep or watch tv. The only good thing that came out of it was the big screen HD TV. Also check out time is 11AM, one of the workers comes and knocks on your door to make sure you are awake and ready to check out. Overall, NEVER coming back here again, it's cheap but not worth it. Remember, you get what you paid for.

Stayed here for 4 nights with some friends for a weekend trip, and we were all oddly surprised with how nice it was considering the other reviews. If you come here expecting a ritzy hotel, you're sure to be disappointed. But if you expect what you payed for, it really is a nice experience. Plus the location is just great. Only con: shared bathrooms, if that bothers you make sure to get a room with a private bathroom to make your stay more comfortable.

This place was awful. Dirty sheets , rude staff, complimentary breakfast was stale bread , a toaster, orange juice , and coffee dispenser that was empty and dirty at 7am on a Saturday morning. The floor was dirty and rotted from water damage. No parking on site but $20/ night car parking 3 blocks away. I would recommend STAYING AWAY from this place.

DO NOT BOOK THIS PLACE!!!! This is where druggies and hookers go. It's a shared bathroom in the hall way which is extremely dirty. The rooms aren't even clean! The sheets were dirty the pillows were dirty and we found a dirty sock under the bed. We would have canceled this place but it's no refunds. I don't know how this place passes health codes... will NEVER come here again

This is one of my favorite hotels to stay at in San Francisco. It is located above a strip club, so if you're someone who likes to go to sleep at 9 PM this might not be the place for you. But with the option to rent a room with either a private or shared bathroom (think dormitory style-- One Men's bathroom and one Women's bathroom per floor) The Europa has proven itself to be one of the most financially reasonable hotels in all of the city. Located in North Beach, San Francisco's "Little Italy", the hotel is surrounded by a wealth of delightful cafes, restaurants, bars, and pizzerias. This place is a wonderfully affordable, eclectically decorated, unique and memorable hotel. Perfect for any young couple, group of friends, or solo travelers looking for an inexpensive place to stay on their trip to the city, be it an impromptu adventure or a planned retreat.

***STRONGLY DO NOT recommended*** Stayed here for two nights. An unsanitary, loud place but very cheap. Still not worth the money. Pros: - cheap stay (around $30 per night) Cons: - unsanitary room. Unclean, old, and smelly - unsanitary bathroom. Unclean and smelly. Lacks paper towel - weak water pressure shower - loud and hard to sleep because of next door strip clubs. I think you get what you pay for in this hotel. It's in a great location close to everything. The rooms are decent and plain. The shared bathrooms are clean. my only complaints is that not many of the electric outkets worked and it would get a little noisy outside. Definitely not a place to bring a family with little kids since it's next to little darlings and you have to share bathrooms. There was also a female passed out in one of the showers the last night we were here. Lol

Came to stay here on a spontaneous trip this room was very noisy and outdated. But had the best location to near by bars and yummy food spots. Traveler tip: Bring Ear Plugs and try the pizza at the corner of the building

Ahhhh worst hotel I've ever been to. We legit stayed here only cause we needed a place to sleep, but ugh we should've just slept in the car. Hotel has no AC, our tv didn't work & there were so many flies in our restroom. Zero stars if possible.

I genuinely want to give Hotel Europa five stars. My boyfriend and I were here for business and fun and stayed with the Europa hotel for 2 nights. I was worried because of the past bad yelp reviews but I was pleasantly surprised to enter a very clean room and bed sheets. Not only that, but the gentlemen at the front desk were very pleasant and friendly. Here's some information everyone should know: 1. The hotel just recently went under new management, and the guys are doing great! 2. This is more of a hostel environment than a hotel. There are a couple rooms (which when we booked we requested and received) that have their own showers and bathroom, otherwise there is a common mens and women's restroom to use for shower and toilet purposes. So if you are very picky and would like your own bathroom in your room, you must request it when booking your room. 3. The place is in a GREAT location!!! You walk outside and BAM, there's China town, tons of eateries, coffee shops and bars, so much going on, it's just a beautiful sight. You really feel as though you're apart of the SF scene and you're not missing out on much. 4. Though the hotel is right in the middle of everything, it's SAFE. You need a card just to get into the main entrance, there's a place upstairs to chain up your bikes and of course, you need your card again to get into your room. 5. They really cared. Everytime I needed a towel (which was often) they gave it to me with no hesitation. The hotel has super fast internet. The guys in the front held my boyfriend's and my luggage since we had to check out at 11:00 am the last day for only $5 all day till it was time to leave for the airport. ** Bring your own toiletries and hair blow dryer if needed :) **Bring your own blanket/Sleeping bag too because the sheets are really thin and do look kind of "motelish" and not something I like to sleep in. Check into this hotel since it was the only one with a room available during the world series weekend. I paid $162.00 for a 1 room with a private bathroom. The beds were awful!! The place was shady alot of weird stuff going on. I woke up in the morning fine but when afternoon hit I had this bumps on my leg and arm. BEDBUGS!!!!! Dont stay here it is gross

horrible! hotel smells like cigarettes all the way through and room smells like piss, queen bed is super small strip club right under is suuuuuper loud past 4 microwave doesn't work in room amd clerk does not care, shared bathroom, which is sooooo uncomfortable, found one bedbug also. I love this place friendly staff awesome maid service. Rooms are always clean. The best part is the neighborhood nightlife, Italian restaurants galour and Chinatown is right across the street. Europa hotel #1 in my book.

Not like my review can do further damage for this "hotel". However, I still want to voice my opinion. This place is a dump and you should avoid at all cost. It is more like a hostel than a hotel. The first room I entered, the door wouldn't open. It's malfunctioning...you have to open it by turning the handle upwards (what the heck). Then, the second room I entered was acceptable at best, but the light didn't work!!! They had to SEE if they had a fitting bulb...WTF? Avoid! By the way, there's no AC and the room is VERY humid. There is also no screens to the windows just when you want to grab some fresh air...

This is probably the cheapest hotel in downtown SF, so don't expect anything fancy. The room is bare bone (one lightbulb hanging from ceiling etc) but clean. All common areas are cleaned every day. Rooms are not cleaned daily, perhaps only on demand? Still have to figure that out. Bring your own gargabe bags. The other hotel guests come in two categories: a. students / tourists on a very tight budget and b. people down on their luck in life (one step away homelessness it seems; and I suspect a few of them have drug / alcohol related issues). I have no problem with that but it's not the average business type you run into in the hallway. The neighborhood is kind of interesting: a. it is in the middle of the red light district with strip clubs, bars, sex shops, and so on, catering to the clientele that is attracted to these types of venues (pretty noisy at night with yelling and noise into the small hours); b. it is also smack in the middle between Chinatown and North Beach which has some of the greatest Italians cafes and restaurants with delicious food, coffee, specialties. I personally like the neighborhood - don't mind the strip clubs and the Italian places and the little coffee shop around the corner are great. I sleep with the window open at night (always do), window facing the street, even then the noise doens't keep me awake but the industrial grade earplugs (-30dB) are essential. Just looking out the window and observing the traffic going down the street can be pretty entertaining. The hotel doesn't have elevators so be prepared to drag your suitcases one or two flghts up a narrow staircase. I am currently suffering from bad back problems (herniated disk, ouchy ouchy), and have a lot of stuff to drag while looking for a new more permanent place to live, so that was not a good surprise. No dedicated place to park your park even to unload your luggage if you are checking in / out (and, needless to say, forget about valet parking or staff running out to check your luggage); you'll have to illegally occupy a street car no stopping sign. Put on the blinkers and people won't be giving you a hard time though. No street parking except early in the morning - if you have a car be prepared to pay at a garage or park it away where there is still free parking in San Francisco. Parking in SF is a challenge anywhere downtown, can't hold that against the hotel. Staff is reasonably friendly and helpful. All in all you pay for what you get, so I'm giving this place two stars.

We search for something chip ,simple and at the center of SF. The hotel answer for it Price is OK, but the bathroom were dirty all the time, the shits also were not clean enaugh. The room is very small. Lucky us, didn't met any bugs ;)

This is by far the worse hotel I have ever been to in my entire life. My employer booked us rooms here for some sadistic reason. When I arrived I knew there was no way in hell my coworkers or myself would stay here. The room was shady, no restroom inside of the room. The restrooms and showers are conveniently located in the hallway for the entire floor to use. I have been in projects that have had better accommodation than this so-called hotel. It's located next door to a questionable strip club as well. Depending on your style this could be a pro or a con. To make a long story short we booked a room elsewhere. Far away from this place. Again this place is a complete dump. On a positive note the guys at the front counter are cool. If you respect yourself and your loved ones you will not even think about staying here. If your into questionable strip clubs and shady hotels with no AC and shared restroom facilities. Then this is the place for you.

The worst "hotel" I have ever been at... Ever!!! I am only here because my friend booked the room. I looked online for anything.... And I mean anything. But everything else is booked up. The place is a dump to say it nicely. If for the odd chance you do stay here. Bring flip flops so your feet never touch the floor. Don't bother with the TV, it doesn't ever turn on. The shared showers don't even have any hooks. So put your stuff on the door or the floor. No soap, towels, air conditioning, pretty much anything. Bring you own! Right next door to a strip club. So ever time you come in and out. People are trying to get you to go in the strip club. Now the good.....let me think..... Free WiFi..... That is it. Good luck

LESS THAN ONE STAR. NEGATIVE TEN STARS. Absolutely the grossest place I have ever been. Literally made my skin crawl. Surrounded by strip clubs and drug dealers, this place is cheap, but casa loma is as cheap and waaaaay nicer. Doors had janky locks, rugs had brown stains, paint peeling off the ways, ladders and dirty roofs next to open and barely closable windows, rusty sinks, stained and ripped bedding, crack addicts wandering the halls. Asked for a better room or money back and the desk guy looked at us like we were nuts and said "I can give you a room with a bathroom for $10 more." Never ever everrrrr stay here!!!!

It looks like a hotel, but it's really a flop house. Pros: DirectTV and LCD in the room, with en suite bath. Cons: Swarms of mosquitos, stained bed sheets, shabby furnishings, empty/unplugged snack and soda machines, facade of continental breakfast. For the price. look at Hotel North Beach instead.

This is not a typical hotel. It is cheap for a reason. Bathrooms are not located in the rooms. You will need to walk down the hall to get to the shared bathrooms. Towels are decent, but small. I'd recommend taking your own. The building does smell, but it is an older building. No AC or heater. Check the weather before. I took an extra blanket for the cold night. The hotel is located in the middle of 5 strip clubs. If your looking for a quiet night, not happening here. No parking. There is a parking lot behind the building that charges $20 a night. we just needed a place that was cheap and place to sleep. If you can tough it out and really wanna save. Then this is what I'd recommend. It's close to everything we wanted to see. We will be staying here again our next visit.

My fiancé and I stayed at the hotel for almost 5 days. That was one of the cheapest options in downtown San Francisco during GDC. The location is absolutely amazing, full of restaurants, bars, clubs etc. I was a bit worried due to those super bad reviews on yelp, however after our trip I cannot truly understand people who were so disappointed and discontent. We spent a bit more than $200 for 4 nights. For such a low price it would be absolutely unfair to demand five-star-hotel standard from hotel management. The room was decent and simple. The bed was really comfy, linens soft, clean and fresh. We had a little refrigerator there as well that worked properly. We received two big towels, two bags of shampoo and soap. The only inconvenience was a shared bathroom in the corridor; however, surprisingly, very clean. It was easy to notice that common areas were cleaned and taken care of presumably every day. In the morning every guest could get an orange juice or coffee. So if you need a place to spend a night in DTSFO, I really recommend this place. Many people also complain about noises. We had a room number 117 and it was nice and quiet. Hope you find it helpful. The reception staff is very helpful, kind and polite. Remember guys you get what you pay for, so don't expect a bottle of champagne, strawberries and swan folded towels. Just enjoy the most amazing city in California and stay positive! Thanks!

Dirty room. No AC. The front desk is OK, but the cleaning guy is very rude. Do yourself a favor and do not stay here. Give two stars for the cheap price, and not experiencing bed bugs like in some other reviews.

I stayed here one night. I had my own private bathroom. The only complaint I have is that the window in my room was so difficult to open and the room is hot! Pros: They have wifi and cable tv. It's in a great spot in SF. The front desk service was ok. For the price and location, not bad. I would stay here again.

With the appropriate expectations, clean room, clean bathrooms, everything functions, and friendly staff; then I give Europa 4 STARS. The surrounding neighborhood has many flavors, sights, sounds, aromas and are an adventure. It is well worth the excellent price. Have fun and take a stay at Europa, I thought it was well worth it.

Cheap -- this is the only "pro" for this hotel. In all other means, if you can choose something else, then do so. Rooms were hot (no A/C), smelly, dirty and very old. Linens were fresh, but still dirty at the corners. Bathroom floor was always flooded. The toilet cabins are way too small (tight, if you want so). The neighborhood was noisy (either buzzing machine behind a window in of one room, or night club music and drunk people beneath the other room's window). Rooms were not cleaned for 10 days of the stay (I guess they are cleaned only on request). This is good if you are worried for your things, but bad if you are worried for cleanliness. Hotel is on the second floor (counting ground as 1st), so you have to go the long steps each time, each day. And there is no elevator. Bad for those disabled and weak. WiFi was really free and just working (a wonderful exception for usual hotels WiFis worldwide). Location (but not neighborhood) is really good. Very close to Chinatown and lot of restaurants & clubs at Broadway & Columbus. More or less close to Downtown, Fisherman's Wharf and other attractions; BART & Market St are 10-15 min walking.

The Europa hotel was the most disgusting hotel I have ever stayed in (and I am well traveled). The pictures posted online are far from the truth and the whole place reeked of cigarette smoke (even the nonsmoking room which we specifically requested). The communal bathroom was atrocious and its located right above a strip club. The room was filthy and their was even a hole in the wall. I wish I had thoroughly read the reviews before I booked this place as it ruined our trip to SF.

I needed to rent a room for some friends that were coming into town.. This place was affordable and centrally located to everything.. Our guest did not need to rent a vehicle since public transportation was close by.. The front desk is knowledgeable about the area and can also advise on where everything is.. Vivek was the guy that checked our friends in and he was really a pleasure to work with.. Clean room, private rooms with new bathrooms .. Can't go wrong..

If its just possible to rate this hostel at 0, i would! Never stay here if your traveling with your family, specially with kids. Hostel is right next to a go go strip club, so dirty and smelly right when you enter the door. Not a family friendly hostel.

THIS HOTEL HAS BEDBUGS! Forget the neighboring strip clubs, the shower that leaked into my neighbor's rooms, the screaming couple down the hall--all that can be endured for the cheap price. BUT NOT BEDBUGS. Even after I brought physical evidence of the bedbugs to the front desk, I was nearly denied a refund. I eventually got two nights out of the three refunded (there's no way I'll be paying a cent), and the manager refused to speak with me because he was SLEEPING in the next room. They didn't even apologize, and practically accused me of bringing the bedbugs with me. A terrible, disgraceful experience. AVOID AT ALL COSTS.

My boyfriend reserved room, I was little surprise with the price bcz it was dead cheap for SF and I wasn't expecting much but it's kind of good place, neat and clean, yes the rooms are bit smaller but it worth it for the price we paid in SF, most of the attraction points are just walking distance from hotel like fisherman's warf, union square, downtown, china town. I m giving four bcz there is no parking, yeah they recommend a garage right behind the hotel for discounted price for hotel guest, otherwise It's a great place to stay for reasonable price, definitely repeat.

The place is full of flying and crawling insects everywhere: in the bathroom, in the corridor, in our room, and (!) ticks in bed. And yes, they bite and suck our blood. Terrible place

Bedbugs were found in 2 out of 3 rooms they offered us, disgusting and manager didnt even seem to care, if you stay here burn your cloths before coming in your home! Seriously
