The Best Russian Restaurants In San Francisco - San Francisco - The Infatuation

"Europa Plus is located on Geary and despite competing with other nearby markets, it stands out with its endless rows of food to wander through. Prices are reasonable and the unique variety of Russian products - with everything from sunflower seeds and Russian ice cream to a huge selection of kielbasa and candy - makes it a great place to check out, regardless if you’re looking for something super specific or just want to discover a new treat to take home." - aida agayeva

Google
As my cousin who lived in Brooklyn said, it feels like Braxton New York when you go inside. They’ve got pretty much every Russian thing with lots of variety

Irina S.

Google
The cashier woman has no manners, very rude. I liked to visit this store. It has good variety of familiar products and reasonable prices, but just an idea to face this cashier stops me from entering. Today, in the morning of Christmas Eve, I decided to buy a few things for the holiday table and sure enough...she spoiled my festive mood again by her mean attitude. Before, I also heard her gossiping with another cashier woman behind some customers who just left the store. Very unprofessional. The guys who work there and the owner are very nice and helpful though.

Google
We like to come here to get the awesome pressed bacon and headcheeses that you don't typically see in a lot of places. They have a very interesting selection of dried meats. They also have a good selection of everyday kitchen items and other Russian goods as well for a good price.

I was too carried away to remember to take photos inside. Amazing Russian food and a little of other European food. Kolbasa, moloko, ikra, kvass, pivo. They had everything, and at an affordable price. The food was genuine, high quality and tasty. Regret not buying more.

Ilya T.

Google
Always stop by there for russian groceries. Seem to have cheaper prices than other russian stores. Lady behind the counter is always nice and polite everytime I visit.

Evgeny S.

Google
Fantastic store with great prices, friendly staff, and a wide range of products. Highly recommended!

Google
I was shocked how unsanitary this place looked. Old and beaten shelving units, dark tight and crooked aisles, barely running refrigerators. Very unpleasant smell of something sour and not really fresh. I bought a few cheesecake bars and when i brought them home their wrapping still had that nasty smell. They have not bad selection of grocery though. Staff is friendly and helpful but this place DO NEED a good general cleaning!

Natalia

Google
Varied service, but some days is excellent! I love this place! It has so many things that you can get in normal stores. It is like a slice of home. There are definitely some nostalgic things that I can buy here and not anywhere else and proper ingredients and treats. A traditional store and I love it. I am far from the area but whenever we are near we have to stop to stock up on proper groceries and goodies.

Yelp
I get one thing and one thing only here: the wafer ice cream sandwiches. I wish they carried other flavors! At least vanilla or something too. Last time I went, they only had chocolate. Still delicious, but I wish I had options.
google avatar

Yelp
Well they clearly have different standards in other countries. I've never seen cake by the slice just openly stored in the fridge and lots of sausages also just stored without packaging. I was here looking for pistachio cream and they didn't have any. Maybe this isn't the place to find some. I tried their homemade piroshki -- I've never seen an egg and onion flavor. They're smaller than the ones sold at Moscow and cost 50 cents more. I would say these aren't as flavorful. Service was okay, again taking culture into consideration. The market has a mom and pop type of vibe. I can see lots of neighborhood Slavic patrons like to shop here, particularly the older crowd. It's always fun to explore ethnic supermarkets. I ended up buying a half gallon of kefir and it was really good quality for $4

Yelp
This is my favorite market in the city. I enjoy getting my European groceries here. Although there is a language barrier, that doesn't stop the kind assistance you get if you ever need it. The place is small yet packed with tons of pantry staples.

Yelp
This store was on my way to my Muni stop from my usual Russian store in the area, New World Market . New World Market is doing some renovations and although I spent around 100$ there and had a full bag of goodies, I decided to check out Europa Plus, as well . Big mistake ! I bought a few items for 32 some dollars from this store, too. At the exit, this guy asked to check my bag with goodies from the New Word Market. Surprising but ok. He picks out a kefir bottle I bought at New World Market from the bottom of my first shopping bag and tells me 'this is ours' . He saw me enter with my first shopping bag from New World Market so this was totally uncalled for. I said 'no', he said 'yes' . i said 'no' again, he said 'it's ours' again. I got angry and looked for the New World Market receipt in my first bag and showed it to him . He went through the list , saw the item and said 'it's my job'. That was it. I don't know what kind of Europa that is but I will stick with the New World from now on . New World Market that is. 1-2 blocks towards the Ocean, cross the street and it's a better store. More variety and nicer people. Don't waste your time and money at this store.

Yelp
A METAL BRACKET was IN the Cookie! Not only those cookies not fresh, there's also dangerous things could be found in it. DON'T BUY it!

Sevinch Z.

Yelp
the worsest I've ever seen, so rude workers, 0 customer service, I do not recommend anyone to go there

Yahaira R.

Yelp
Visited this market at my recent trip to San Francisco... love the service and great candy selection... worth my trip from NYC
google avatar

Maria K.

Yelp
Definitely check your receipt well before leaving. I ended up charged $22.48 for 2.5 lbs of "chocolate candy". I did not buy any candy, and there was a clear counter before & after me checking out, so an unintentional cashier mistake is unlikely. Surely made me time-travel to the "good old" Moscow life, when this is how cashiers "earned their living". I've been trying to call their number to complain for two days now. No one ever picks the phone. Thievery!

Alex K.

Yelp
Great store with lots of specialty items from Russia and Ukraine etc. Prices are reasonable.

Yelp
My favorite russian grocery store in SF. Never had bad or expired produce bought there, which is a big deal and happens often, if you shop at other russian stores. I thinknits because many people shop often there, hence quick turn out. Lowest prices. They sell Spartak belarusian candies - my childhoods favorite! Aeroflotskie, Chernomorskie, Griljazh... Thank you for being around!
google avatar

Vika S.

Yelp
My husband and I were so happy we found this place! It literally felt like home to him. The people are nice Russian family that truly make sure you have everything you need. They have almost everything an actual Russian grocery store would have! Also, They had Kvass which was what we were looking for! If you haven't tried Kavass before head over to this grocery store and try it! It's definitely worth it. 5 STARS! Below, I have translated in Russian just in case a foreigner reads.

Anna M.

Yelp
I got a big pack (there were no smaller ones) package of beat, potatoes and herring salad and it was rotten! When I came back they said it was impossible because had never happened before, implying that I was lying refused to give my money back. Both times I bought stockfish (dried fish) it was overdried and too salty, very bummed because we love Soviet style dried fish. Somehow they manage to still carry a lot of made in St.Petersburg, Russia, and other Russian cities food, despite all the sanctions and common decency. When asked directly about what's going on, they say that they maintain "neutrality" because they have no interests in politics (neither do they want to lose pro-Russia customers). These guys do not support Ukraine and try to keep a foot in both "camps". Neither do many of their patrons. Both times I've been here since the war I was smirked at and told that "we will show you, Ukrainians". I mean, if you want to support Russian fascism and the invasion in Ukraine, have no further doubts and come here buy some Russia made goodies and listen to hateful ladies spewing Russian state propaganda and threats.

Yelp
I would give this place 0 star if I could. As other people mentioned in their reviews, they do add random stuff to your receipt. Not only that, they also put one price on the shelves underneath the product, and at the cashier's the price magically changes to much higher. When I asked the cashier about the discrepancy, she said "if you don't want, don't buy." Grossly rude and chokingly inappropriate. I am unclear how businesses like this with very questionable practices don't get screened and audited? I am not even talking about their lack of customer service. The rudeness and bad manners are on another level.
google avatar

Alana V.

Yelp
This place has always been questionable, but they recently put up a sign that says 'no entree without a mask'. whatever, their prerogative. but a few days later they started selling n95 masks for $7 a pop.... anyone else questioning the legality of that during a pandemic? same. products are expired. some 6+ months so. they don't care if you point this out, they put the product back on the shelf. i've witnessed his workers be extremely rude to elderly customers. a man in maybe his 70s asked if a certain bread he was holding was rye. the associate rolled her eyes and said it wasn't her job to read product labels. but why not, when the owner is...lightly put, an asshole. I've witnessed him yell at customers after he* made a mistake, close doors in customers' faces, give false information. Been coming here since they opened, and this place just gets worse and worse. it is difficult times that show true character, and this place has none.

Y V.

Yelp
Most of their products are expired. Don't buy anything until you check the expiration date. Plus can't believe it, but Russian store is selling Salted Mushrooms ( ) MADE IN CHINA. Thanks Europa Plus for good quality food.

Yelp
Being originally from Germany, I am used to eating cold cuts for dinner. In fact, traditionally we eat cold in the evenings: a meal consisting of bread, various cold cuts, cheeses, pickles and spreads...and maybe leftovers from the warm lunch. (Note: nowadays this tradition has mostly given way to eating warm dinners as the work and living situations have shifted.) Here at Europa Plus I can find the traditional cold cuts: a broad variety of smoked and/or cured hams, salamis and cheeses. All of these are sold in pieces that are vacuum-sealed, so that you can cut as many or as little slices as you wish. But aside from these delicacies, you can also find all sorts of pickles, vegetable spreads and other special food items that are typical to (mostly) Eastern Europe. Whe I shop at Europa Plus I always find myself amongst a group of older ladies chatting away in what seems to be Russian. This place seems to be the place to get the latest gossip from the hood ;-)

Mukhabat P.

Yelp
I want to give five star for this store. Though, Indeed, they had very rude customer service once she almost throw to me all stuff I got. Also, their dely foods old. But now, they have very young energetic and positive guys. I am driving up only to shop at this store , because I love mostly Russian candies, cookies. I don't want to get out from this store, till I get full basket. They have plenty, different kind of Russian jellies, grains etc..we used to cook back in Russian. As far we have only a few Russian stores in San Francisco, I want to support them.
google avatar

Victor G.

Yelp
Europa Plus has a storefront full of edibles from Russia and nearby places. most items labeled in russian and english. jams, cookies, frozen meats/entrees, bulk candies, syrups, juices, chocolates, ice cream, beers, canned entrees, spices, pastries. everything one can expect to full in a russian grocery. buys: "lavada" ice cream (.99) -from lithuania -ice cream yummy, cone not, tasted old. -ingredients usual glucose, sugar, cocca, additives drips: -fast checkout -mosty elderly europeans shop here.

Yelp
I spent the weekend doing not much else but reading Tyler Cowen's An Economist gets Lunch, New rules for Everyday Foodies. So on a late holiday afternoon, after lounging for a good part of the day, we decide to put his theories to test by heading out to an ethnic food store in central Richmond and looking for things that were priced just right for what they are. The first stop fell short of expectations due to its somewhat sterile and unwelcoming environment, but the second one, this one, was exactly what I was hoping for. For untrained eyes like mine, this seemed very Russian. Everything was written in Russia and English, which allowed us to stroll up and down, from aisle to aisle, and read the labels without having to fire up Google Translate. Blood and tongue sausage at $5.49 / pound, a fraction of what you'd pay in an American speciality store. Moscow Sausage, at $5.99 / pound, looked more like Kielbasa, but slightly larger in diameter, it also just so happens looks like the same kind of sausage my family grew up on in Haerbin, the capital city in the northeastern part of China that borders Russia. A ton of smoked fish, one particular kind, also sold at $5.99 / lb, was something I'd seen in Zabar's (in upper west side) and purchased, at $24.99 / lb. There were a number of different kind of smoked fish. I liked mine salmon and collar. Never seen it outside of the ethnic food shops of lower east side until now. My companion was carrying my increasing large pile of food. I felt bad for he was already manning the backpack that had my scarf, his extra jacket and coffee mug in it (mind you this is winter weather for the rest of you folks as we enters summer here), but we continued marching up and down the aisle in hoping for something else unusual. And then I found it. It was behind a refrigerator, near front, it looked too small for an ice cream bar and too large for a candy. I chose the one with a picture of hazelnuts. The lady at the check out counter says that it's sweet cheese. Loaded up on our finds, we walked out of the store 10 lbs heavier than when we arrived. We sampled the sweet cheese treat on our way out, and it was like nothing I'd ever had before. Creamy, sweet and filed with hazelnut flavor. A winner in my book. Tyler Cowen did an experiment whereby he consumed produce at an ethnic supermarket for a month exclusively, and refrained from buying anything from mainstream supermarkets. He concluded that "when it comes to ethnic markets, most of the shoppers really are very well informed. Most of the shoppers come from cultures - including China - where food preparation receives a lot more attention than in the United States. These shoppers are also largely immigrants or children of immigrants. Either they come from cultures where most food prices are lower than in the Unites States, or the immigrants have lower incomes themselves, or both." Combining these characteristics, when shopping at ethnic market, one tends to get better quality food at a lower price, his experiment taught him. Tyler then takes a step further and argues that rather than focusing on locally grown food where the cost of growing food (where the climates did not permit) could be significantly higher than the cost (of carbon footprint) of transportation, we should all try to reduce carbon footprint by walking instead of driving wherever possible. By that account, we did just as well: walking from 7th to 18th, stopping at a community garden on our way, then at this Russian store to pick up some ethnic find, back to 7th and Clement for our next step at Kamei (a Chinese run restaurant supply store, quite popular among the Inner Richmond crowd) before heading back on 7th, but not before stopping at our regular spot Cinderella Bakery on Balboa. As a everyday foodie like Tyler Cowen, I would highly recommend you to check out this lovely market for your every day Russian food cravings, at a price an immigrant can afford.

Yelp
I am happy to buy Russian and Ukrainian food here. Thanks dear owner for your business!!

Eileen A.

Yelp
I bought some excellent red Alaskan caviar here at a very decent price.
google avatar

Aleksandra S.

Yelp
Make sure you check what they are charging you for. Got charged 3*$3.49 for supposedly something called "Smet Alenka/Korovka" instead of three $.99 cheesecake snacks. I used to come here at least twice a month. Never again.
google avatar

SuzeAndTod F.

Yelp
Yum Alert! Salmon roe was fresh and delicious. Price is better than other markets on Geary.
google avatar

Dusky D.

Yelp
Overall this place is decent. But. I now will forever have a grudge against for what they pulled on Mother's Day. My mom used to live in Russia and loves pickled mushrooms. We got dinner on Mother's Day nearby and after dinner I realized Europa Plus was still open. I quite literally sprinted 6 blocks to get to them before they closed and got there with 3 minutes to closing totally out of breath, started to push the door open, and they were like "we're closed". I told them I just wanted pickled mushrooms for my mom (It *was* Mother's Day) and had run to get there, they shut the door in my face. There were still people in line to pay, this was just rude.

Shereen A.

Yelp
Recently came here with a friend and she showed me the ropes. Europa Plus has SOO much to offer, I couldn't stop looking and ooh'ing! Europa Plus is a decent sized Russian grocery store with everything from sunflower seeds and marshmallows to spices, imported coffees, jams, and meats. They even have full fat buttermilk, y'all! I couldn't believe my eyes (first place I've seen in this city that has it). I picked up a variety of items: cheese, buttermilk, baked style kefir, sour cabbage, Korean carrots, salmon, and the list goes on. Everything was fresh and delicious. There's free parking in the parking lot across the street for 30 minutes if you show your receipt.

Yelp
OMFG, I felt like I was in Chinatown! Is it somekindof secretly imported stuff in here? it seems like they didn't even go threw US customs. Many opened boxes. Hand writing signs in Russian. I saw a opened box of dried sardines without ANY wrapping. Many Naked Dried Sardines in a open box. I think it should be covered, but NO flies. This place reminds me of my hometown ghetto market in 60's, Japan, because I remember many boxes of produce just piled up, and an old man opened the box one after another, and he used old news papers for wrapping. Wrapping veges and dried fish. They didn't have any plastic bags. I remember some of meat market used a bamboo sheath for wrapping, Chicken, Pork and Whale. Yup, when I was kid, whale meat was very popular in Japan. Beef? Yeah, but hardly any, it was VERY expensive! Health Department was very easy going back then, I guess. So, I don't know what's up with this place and SF Health Dept but I was really enjoy browsing at the store. So many things look like so illegal. I am sure it's not. But even I just got 2 can of smoked mackerel in oil, i felt like a bit of... I got a secret-underground-good deal. As Fallopian Swim Team D. mentioned that, " don't forget the hardcore porn on the second floor." So, I went up to the SKANKY 2nd floor, I got really excited because it looked and smelled JUST like an ordinary porn place, BUT It was all regular movies and music CDs, in Russian, and no one was up stairs. I was like, "WHERE THE PORN?" I didn't see any.

Yelp
Vau my v Moskve? That's Google translation for "Whoa - am I in Moscow?" I love visiting supermarkets when I travel and Europa Plus reminded me of a small corner grocer in Moscow. Everything is from Russia, Croatia, Hungary, Poland - you know, goods from the motherland. Everyone was speaking Russian. I totally forgot I was in the US. They had 8 types of feta cheeses and 7 types of farmer cheese. They also carried my beloved Vegeta seasoning (no - not the Japanese anime character but the delicious garlic spice mix from Croatia). If you haven't tried this stuff, do yourself a favor and get a small bag from here. You can thank me later as you stir fry your 3rd batch of chicken and vegetables. The big buys appear to be the pelmeni, a traditional Siberian dumpling served with sour cream, and piroshki. Big selection of both. Super easy parking.

Oleg K.

Yelp
Europa plus is the cheapest Russian grocery store in town. Yes, the place isn't very clean, but the cashiers are nice (especially Ivan, the sexy one), and they have a decent variety of Eastern European foods for affordable prices. Their frozen dumplings are truly delicious (look for them in a top-load freezer at the back of the store to the left, under the stairs). They have a lot of candy and cookies as well. Be sure to try their Russian desserts, they are my all-time favorites. Overall, it's a nice place to shop for exotic foods.

Jaswant A. S.

Yelp
Found this place on Yelp and came here to get some Russian gifts for some friends so this place surely delivered. Wall to wall shelves of Russian candy, chocolates, you name it. They even had a Napoleon cake in the fridge which we grabbed all of. And guess what? It's not just all the Russian stuff in the place that would make any Russian expatriate sigh with nostalgia - they even imported the cashier's attitude - straight from Soviet times. The only thing missing from the experience was not having to stand in another line to pay for a little slip of paper which you bring to yet another clerk that gives you what you actually bought. But no matter. It still is worth it if you absolutely need some Russian stuff and don't wanna fly for hours just to get it.

Yelp
russian market in the inner richmond..little russia...a decade of sf life and had no idea...no fancy display or organization...freezers of fish and meats...clutter of cans, bags and boxes of russian goods...picking some bread and salumi...new ingredients to explore cooking with...
google avatar

Olga B.

Yelp
These guys have a variety - that's for sure, BUT I think that Royal Market and Bakery isn't that messy inside and all the products are having a better look. Unfortunately, Europa Plus isn't how it was before, all products are dusty and you just want to turn 180 degrees and go back from where you came. Another thing is that lots of merchandise isn't translated into English, just brought how it is from Russia which makes troubles for native citizens and it's totally right.. if I'm coming here - I want to spend money and if I want to do that - give me the service which I'm paying for. Maybe, first couple of times people will agree to ask to translate what does that mean, but I'm not sure about 5th, 6th time. That way you might lose customers.

Yelp
Recently bought some russian kids books for me to learn. How about some russian version of puss and boots? I love it. I can't wait to read it to my kids. I could have bought some when I was in Odessa but I didn't. Could have would have should have. No regrats! (Not even a single letter!) I will come back to buy me some of their russian candies. Oh men, diabetes here I come. No produce here but they also have canned products, frozen fish, frozen pelmeni. They have it here. Cost less than elsewhere. I love it. I will definitely come back. I feel sorry for other folks who does not know a single russian. Too bad! More for me!
google avatar

Tanya G.

Yelp
They have a very wide selection of all sorts of food, from meats to dried grains to teapots and serverware. You can find almost anything you need here. Upstairs is apparently a bookstore but I've never been there nor had the desire to go up. Their smoked fish/meats and pre-made salads are always fresh and good. There's some frozen fresh fish by the window if you're all into cooking like that. A fridge with pelmeni and vareniki, and a wall of different varieties of kolbasas! The service has always been friendly from my experience which is a huge plus for any russian business!

Yelp
I went here for the salamis and candy. The store clerk was so rude. The place is dusty and really awkward (no music) She kept staring at me really weird and moving so goddamn slow. She handed me the bag like she was telling me to get the fuck out already. Smh can't even buy food without being discriminated.

Yelp
Lots of candy and pickled things. 2 of my favorites. But go upstairs... there's music (reminder: next time, remember to look for Vitas CDs). There's also videos, children's books, and porn. It's where I discovered Pushkin (in the children's book category). The videos are a gas, too... I've always wanted to buy one and see if they're different than the American versions. Oh... lots of art books (good ones, at that) and cards, too. The porn is pretty funny, especially because it's right next to the children's books. And that's the charm of the place... it isn't kitschy in the least. It doesn't draw any attention to how unusual (by American standards) it is... Ohk, nowhere on Geary really does, except maybe "Regina" a little but that may just be my projection because of all the Babushka dolls (including John Lennon and Elton John dolls)... but Europa ESPECIALLY . It just is. It's very authentic... no pomp and circumstance - just great stuff all thrown together. I seldom see the same person working there twice... don't know what's up with that. But there's this one really pretty woman who worked there when I was buying the Puskin book (because of the pictures). She was really sweet, though I felt embarassed because, though I'm part Russian, I don't (well, didn't... and still very little) understand any of the language. I was just buying it for the pictures. But she started talking to me in Russian and I must have had the dumbest "doiiiiiii" expression on my face because she quickly stopped and said "you don't speak Russian, do you?", and the fact that I was buying a Russian book added insult to injury. She was kind, though (if you're reading this... I'm learning!). Go there. Buy poetry in the form of childrens books or porn (whichever suits your fancy) and a bit of candy (it goes well with both, I imagine).

Andy A.

Yelp
Some of the stuff i got here was OK, but they had expired products on their shelves and an expensive smoked fish I bought here smelled bad and had a mushy texture like it was frozen/thawed a number times. The choice of products is pretty limited. OK if you've never been to a russian grocery before, but after Brooklyn russian delis this one is a disappointment
google avatar

Denise C.

Yelp
I am Chinese so I am use to Chinese grocery stores. I was walking to the YMCA and stumbled upon this Russian grocery store. I thought it looked so interesting seeing the fish near the windows. I got addicted to those ice cream cones they sell for 1.49 that come in flavors like cherry and caramel. It's interesting to see a grocery store like this.

Yelp
Different kind of store for me. Interesting deli section, great packages of candies, dried foods, canned items, freezer items. They have cool desserts too. I used to come here like once a week, just to try something different. Yeah, I'm weird. :-P And of course the Russian magazines, and other Russian materials. Service....they're usually friendly.

Yelp
Looking for some "Alyona" Russian Chocolate fresh from the Red October Chocolate Factory? Or perhaps some Russian "Mors", Berry drink shippped directly from Mosocw? Russian magazines, foodstuffs, souvenirs, kolbasa, cheeses... ALL are offered at this market, which oddly takes its name from one of Moscow's favorite radio stations. (Webcast live at http://www.russianinternet.com/radio/europaplus.html , should you be interested.. but I digress) This is my *second* favorite place to get all things Russian, parking can be a pain sometimes but the key is to go on a Sunday evening, when it's not as bad... I love their selection of Russian chocolates and candies... I'm a big fan of the Krasni Oktyabr (Red October) chocolate factory so as long as their shipments keep coming in, they should stay in business.... They sometimes also carry a selection of Russian teapots and ceramics, which I love, too...

Yelp
Purchased their raisin cake (more than one loaf). As I take it out of the package, there was mold on top of the loaf...DISGUSTING!! The outside of the package has a label, which covers the top of the loaf. Obviously the reason why we didn't see it. Just pay attention to what you purchase there! Customer Service: RUDE & HORRIBLE!! Definitely NEVER returning, It was too bad we had to deal with this experience! 2 hour drive, to return them...NOPE!

Yelp
they have a very nice variety here, I notice they had several types of chocolate bars, the european chocolate bars I tried had a lighter airy texture and not as sweet as American chocolates. They also had several types of eastern european breads, some with poppy seeds, some with raisens or other kind of dried fruit. One of my favorite items is a sweet confection called "Halva" this is very popular in eastern europe and the middle east also a nice selection of sausages, smoked fish, canned fish [sprats] I always find something interesting here

Yelp
A little strange place to shop. The shelves are dusty. Some items are expired( ex. Condensed milk, I noticed after I got home). The lady at cash register was moody and rude.f

Yelp
A fairly glorious selection of all things Russian. As the other reviewers pointed out, this is as authentic as it gets - right down to the clearly Russian handwriting on their caviar and sour cream tubs. Not as big as some other Russian stores I've been to, but items seem chosen for quality. Awesome. -1 star for not carrying my favorite chocolate candies (, the ones wrapped in green paper with a squirrel on them), and also not slicing salami (I suppose this is them being soviet-authentic, but Moscow delis have already moved on). The jam in buckets with Israeli writing is to die for. Knowledge of Russian definitely a plus for navigating the store.

Yelp
The only reason not to go here is if you're on a strict diet! Because all the chocolates and yummy baked goods will ruin your fitday table. They have a pretty good selection here of imported meats, coffees, chocolates, and canned fish products. Its all reasonably clean and you wont be made to feel like an intruder if you want to take your time and have a look around.

Yelp
Came here just to just explore the area, and was pleasantly surprised with what this small shop had to offer. Very clean, and well organized. Has a deli, bakery, seafood, fruits, vegetables, and seafood section --everything you would find at a full service market. I really liked the cookies/cake section--it seemed that Russians really like hazelnut in their desserts (as do I). Bought some marinated fish, jaffa cakes, ajvar, and pear juice. Yum.

Yelp
Amazing variety of candies, sausages, and other goodies. They have my fav cakes there and the prices and service are better than in the store on the other side of the street.

Yelp
California Governor Gavin Newsom issued an executive order on April 22 in response to the COVID-19 pandemic that includes a temporary suspension of the state's plastic bag ban. Executive Order N-54-20 suspends for 60 days the requirements that prohibit retail establishments from providing without charge reusable grocery bags to customers at point-of-sale (see Public Resources Code section 42283). No surprise this store still sells reusable bags. And no surprise I've got sarcastic and rude response from lady cashier on my question: how come they still sell and still charge (I came without bag as required). I was told that SF is not California. Well, I have checked SF CDC website to confirm "if SF is still CA". Sure enough SF County has been included in seven Bay Area Counties where this ban effected from April 22. I visited store on April 29 and somehow found out SF is not California already. So sick of this rude, snobbish, and arrogant lady.
