The Essential Pizza Restaurants in D.C.

"The Palisades is home to this hidden European destination for imported retail goods, wines, art, and pizza. Owner Daniel Rossi’s pandemic-born project sends out crispy Neapolitan pies topped with everything from baby clams to pesto to figs. The Diavola (Calabrian chili pepper, salami, fresh mozzarella, and roasted peppers) is not to miss. Swing by six days a week from 11 a.m. to 9 p.m. (and Sundays from 10 a.m to 3 p.m.)." - Eater Staff

It was the best meal we had in a long time. Meatballs were amazing. They were light and fluffy and red sauce was sooo delicious!! Mushroom pizza was absolutely great. I loved everything about it. It had perfect crust and great taste. The owner was very friendly and service was impeccable. I am looking forward to my next visit. We also enjoyed our organic wine.

I highly recommend this place, both for the food and hospitality. One of my friends had organized a tasting menu for us. They also had no problem accommodating me as a vegetarian. The food was wonderful. The ingredients were fresh and flavorful throughout. Many of the dishes followed the philosophy of executing a simple dish well. Everything was tasty, although the cannellini soup and the mushroom risotto particularly stood out to me. They were also extraordinarily hospitable. Daniel, the owner and chef, made us feel at home and welcomed. I appreciated him explaining each dish to us and checking to make sure we were okay. His passion for the restaurant shows clearly. Overall, I highly highly recommend a visit. Thanks Daniel for a wonderful night!

SUCH delicious food made with wholesome fresh ingredients. You taste it in every bite. Boyfriend and I stopped in spontaneously and ordered a pepperoni pizza with pesto cubes, meatballs with fresh bread, and pesto pistachio fettuccine. Everything was so heavenly, I'm kicking myself for not trying this place sooner. Restaurant itself is very casual, which I appreciate as well! It's a cozy vibe.

European Market offered everything I was looking for in my dining experience. I ordered two pizzas and the tomato salad. Each dish was prepared in a beautiful traditional style with fresh, vibrant ingredients. On Fridays they have a live band come and a small flea market with some local vendors. The service was prompt and kind, and the owner, Daniel, personally greeted our table.

You can’t go wrong with anything on the menu. I tried so many things today and every single thing was sooo delicious! Daniel, the owner and chef, makes sure that everything goes perfect and that your experience is unique! While I was there I saw people working remotely, so this is a great option if you want to change your routine. This place is highly recommended. Try the fig Parma pizza, you’ll thank me later.

I was there on a Sunday afternoon and tried the mushrooms, Brussels sprouts, Nutella pizza, Casio e Pepe and the meatballs. Every dish was well seasoned, great portions and made with attention to detail. The place was clean and the outdoor seating area is cozy. The employees were friendly and I can’t wait to go back. Highly recommend this place for any occasion. Try it!

This spot was such a pleasant surprise! Everything tasted so fresh and delicious. The pizza in particular blew me away! One of the best neopolitan style pizzas I’ve had. I ordered the Parma and it was perfection. Highly recommend for affordable quality food in the area.

This charming spot is perfect in so many ways. A wonderful neighborhood restaurant, most likely for locals (but they would welcome anyone!). Two friends and I were looking for outdoor seating one night and everything in the area was packed/needing reservations (note: mediocre spots at best, like Al Dente and Chef Geoff’s). We decided to go to the European Market and it was such a good decision. We were able to sit outside on their cute patio and everyone was so friendly. The pizzas are the best in the city. We shared the fried calamari (amazing), the arugula salad that was huge (and so good), and shared three pizzas (the fig/prosciutto; margarita, and mushroom). Hands down the best pizza I’ve had in DC in my 15 years living here! The owner Daniel Rossi is so friendly and came to chat with us. I give this spot a 10/10! It also looks like it would be a cute breakfast and lunch cafe too (haven’t tried yet but 100% will)!
