Yelp
Evelyn is clearly having a moment. It's gorgeous, buzzy, and everyone shows up dressed like they're headed to a bougie awards show. There's even a bathroom attendant in the women's restroom... serving champagne. So yes, vibes are vibing. Unfortunately, the food didn't quite keep up.
Waygu Meatballs (1/5)
The texture was... confusing. Like oddly soft and mushy, almost pâté-ish. Zero flavor from the meat itself. The marinara, however, was solid.
Parker House Rolls (5/5)
The star of the table. Warm, fluffy, lightly salted perfection. Served with four whipped butters (chipotle, garlic, caramel, smoked sea salt). Absolutely delicious... though $8 for two rolls did make me pause and reflect on my life choices.
Philly Cheesesteak Bites (2/5)
Bland overall. The bread was the highlight, very lobster-roll adjacent. I ended up stealing the garlic whip from the Parker House rolls to give these some life.
Evelyn Margarita (4/5)
Well-made, nicely balanced, black salt rim. Solid cocktail. Still not dethroning my personal margarita GOAT (Gloria's), but respectable.
8oz Filet Mignon (4/5)
Cooked exactly how I like it and seasoned well. The au poivre sauce was great, though it's an extra $4. Worth it, but noted.
Au Gratin Potatoes (2.5/5)
Cheese, bacon, chives on top sounded promising, but the top was overcooked and the potatoes underneath were bland. Needed seasoning IN the potatoes, not just on top.
Ribeye Chicharrón Mac & Cheese (2/5)
At $29, this should've been a showstopper. Instead, it was dry, and the ribeye was somehow unseasoned.
Chicken Rigatoni alla Vodka (3.5/5)
Spicy, sweet, hot-honey chicken with vodka sauce. Surprisingly good and very creative. Not your typical pasta, but it worked.
Desserts
Chocolate Decadence (4/5): Rich layered chocolate cake with pearls, finished tableside with warm chocolate sauce. Enjoyed this one.
Crème Brûlée Cheesecake (4/5): Loved the brûléed top and fresh fruit. Solid finish to the meal.
Overall:
Evelyn is stunning and extremely Instagram-friendly, but for me, the food didn't justify the hype. Dallas is overflowing with excellent steakhouses, and this one just didn't stand out enough to make me want to return. Glad I tried it. Probably won't go out of my way to come back.
