The Best Restaurants in Lewisham, South East London - Eater London

"The A20 corridor isn’t an obvious place for an interesting meal, but hidden gems are so named for a reason. Everest Curry King is legendary among south-east Londoners for its spit-and-sawdust directness and bevy of Sri Lankan and south Indian dishes, all prepared in advance and reheated to order. Those familiar with Tooting’s finest will be on familiar ground, as delicious egg hoppers, kottu roti and mutton rolls mingle with south Indian dishes like vada and spicy drumstick curries. A smattering of Jaffna-style dishes from Sri Lanka’s northern reaches make an appearance in fish frys, and a curry of crab smothered in spices and coconut milk." - David Paw

Best-Value Restaurants in South East London: Cheap, But Not Cheap Eats - Eater London

"It is a truth universally acknowledged that a single Londoner in possession of a tenner must be in want of a restaurant somewhere on a pedestrianised section of an A road. Before it becomes a dual carriageway, the Lewisham section A20 is home to one of south-east London’s certified gems in Everest Curry King — a Tamil canteen where curries are arrayed behind glass and heated up,  authentically, in the microwave to order. The best thing to do is get a selection (four vegetable or a meat/fish and two vegetable) and choose between skilfully spiced pumpkin, okra, and beetroot curries or comforting yellow daal. The highest compliment to give the kingfish curry is that it tastes completely homestyle, without any showboating, but the best of vegetarian options is an outstanding aubergine and chickpea number: the aubergine cooked beyond the point of Maillard reaction until it has the bitter chew of licorice with skin the texture of Japanese lacquerware. Outside of this, the kothu puttu rotis are a highlight, made to order (listen out for the machete clanking in the back), and uplifted by the heat and crunch of raw chilli and onion, while the highlights of the snacks is a bulging, breaded cutlet of mashed fish, pregnant with a whole boiled egg." - Jonathan Nunn

We were planning to go to their restaurant next door, but unfortunately it was closed, so we decided to eat here and I must say this place did not disappoint. The food tasted so fresh and yum. Satisfied all of our cravings. We ended up over ordering and over eating because the food was so good. Every dish we tried was flavourful and spicy. Highly recommended if you are craving some solid Sri Lankan dishes.

A Tasty experience at Everest Curry King Sri Lankaise Specialties! So, I popped into Everest Curry King for a quick lunch break, and it was quite a treat! The vibe was cozy, and they've got this deal where you can mix and match your plate with rice, meat/chicken/fish/egg curry, and three veggie sides. While waiting, they served up some poppadoms with this nice yogurt and herb sauce. Since I was in a hurry, I asked for a smaller plate, and they were nice about it, giving me a tasty lunch for under £9.00 instead of the usual £13.00 deal. For my lunch, I went for some lamb curry with white rice, and some aubergine curry, chilly paneer, and cauliflower in spicy tomato sauce on the side. Each bite was full of flavour. And the service? Top-notch. Quick, friendly, polite and on point. Now, I like spicy food to a certain point, but this was just right. I got that nice kick without blowing my head off and could feel other spices and herbs. Overall, Everest Curry King is simple and great. I'm already planning my next visit, and this time, I'm bringing the family along!

The restaurant was recommended by the owner of a nearby bead and breakfast and it did not disappoint. I had a quick look at the reviews before going in and I decided to try the aubergine along with other recommendations by the waiter. Simply delicious. And the portions were generous. The service was top notch. Thank you!

The food is not bad, this place even features a great outdoor seating area although the first section is a bit small and cramped. However for a regular meal of ok tasting Sri Lankan food it can be a good option.

Absolute rip off! No value for money 15 quid for a box of liquid that resenbles a lamb curry that's got 2 bits of meat in it & x2 mutton rolls! No rice, vegs or poppadoms & yogurt an this is called a meal... An as I'm eating my curry with a spoon I'm finding more leaves an cloves etc than anything else terrible, shame because just to use all the time being so close but it's just not good enough now!!

We'll definitely be back! With friends next time to order yet more mountains of delicious Sri Lankan yummies. Thought it looked a bit expensive. Silly me! Ended up with a well stocked doggie bag that delivered three more generous servings!

This is food counter and a set of 5tables place. Small not very clean. However the food tastes OK. Sambar just vegetables tossed in and not well made. If are in urgent need of South Indian/ Sri Lanka food try this place. Got some 4 dosas and some small eats like Vada, cutlet rolls cost £40. Is it worth it. No not for me , guess blame it on inflation and Covid.

Amazing food with an island vibe! Every dish was well put together and had a unique taste. The outdoor seating area feels like you have been transported to a beach! Will definitely be back for more!
