How One of Texas’s Evie Mae’s, Makes Their Distinct Take on Ribs - Eater

"Outside Lubbock, Texas, Evie Mae's is serving some of the best barbecue in the state, with dishes like green chile cheese sausage, brisket, and other classics. Pitmaster Arnis Robbins serves distinct pork ribs with a dry surface, having developed his own technique of removing the foil during the cook. The ribs are smoked, wrapped in foil, and glazed with house-made sauce before being finished in the smoker." - Avery Dalal

Had to share a positive eating experience here, even though I was going in and one leg in 😁. I am a pretty good judge of Smoked chicken halves, since I have done many of these in my own backyard. This one was really juicy had a good flavor, not dried out. On the other half, were the sides. The green chili mac & cheese was very well done, And the baked potato casserole was also very good! The topper of it was the cornbread muffin! That was an excellent addition. The whole kicker to this was the lunch special with everything was out the door $9.75, That’s hard to beat for a good lunch. Service was great and very friendly. Would like to try other lunch, menu items in the future! Great Job!👏🏻

Have not tasted it yet, but the woman who gave us our food was so rude. We are out of town in a hotel, so we don’t have plates, honey, butter, etc. Apparently, this place doesn’t have those basic BBQ necessities either. Unbelievable. Next time we’re in town, even if it’s good, I think we’ll avoid. Customer service is important to us, especially in West Texas, where I thought it was a staple.

Stopped in her on a recommendation from a friend. I was impressed and it is very popular with the locals. It’s set inside the United Grocery Store which is surprising but makes for a unique atmosphere. I had the Brisket and Turkey plate. It was above average for sure but not the best I have experienced. Brisket was moist and lean. The Turkey was the star for me. It had a great flavor and was very juicy. I wanted Banana Pudding but they were out by 1130 am…must be good.

Got here about 1:15 and glad we did. About 5 groups in front of us and by the time we sat down the line was out the door. Good bbq and sides. Three meat plate with turkey, lean and moist brisket. Green beans were the best item on the plate.

It's in a grocery store so the atmosphere is ..... The brisket sandwiches are very good albeit with one exception. No such thing as a lean sandwich here. If you want moist, by all means, this is the place. Their sides are excellent. It's just the fatty sandwich that will keep our family away.

Best BBQ I’ve had in Texas. We were told this was top 5 in Texas. This location is inside the United Supermarket. Turkey and brisket was bomb. Potato casserole and cornbread were great.

Worst pork rib Iv ever had, tough as boot leather, still had the member on the bone side. Lesson learned. Filled up on decent side dishes and back to work. I won’t spend my money here again.

Sad that we weren’t in town to go to the flagship location but the fact that it’s in the grocery store is pretty awesome. The food was great and a must stop for BBQ lovers when out in west Texas!
